Recent reports predicting the future of veterinary practice give reason for concern. They point out the challenges to the profession: improve practice management, increase client visitation, improve income, practice better medicine. The computer is the tool that will give the practitioner the ability to do this. The decision to invest in a computer system is an important one. It will affect nearly every aspect of the practice, so one must carefully consider all the factors. Word processing makes the writing and altering of scientific articles faster, easier, and more accurate. Personal computers that are ideally suited to this use are now available. The major problem affecting the veterinarian who wishes to purchase a personal computer word processing system, is that of spending the time to acquire sufficient information in order to choose the computer and the programs that will be appropriate to his or her requirements. These will include the specialized word processing demands of scientific article writing and many other applications, as applicable. Despite this obstacle, the acquisition of a personal computer and a suitable word processing program, soon results in time saving. The use of the computer for many other tasks logically follows. An additional benefit is the understanding of computers, their abilities and their limitations--a decided benefit in the 1980s.  相似文献

The estimated allele frequency at neutral DNA marker loci is a fundamental parameter for establishing a conservation scheme for a set of livestock breeds. In this study, we propose a novel 'minimum distance (MD) method' for estimating neutral allele frequencies, which minimizes the error by the use of pedigree information. Using computer simulation and actual microsatellite data for a pedigreed cattle population, the performance of the proposed method was compared with that of conventional random sampling (RND). MD manifests a promising superiority to RND, irrespective of the sample size and the depth of pedigree. It is theoretically demonstrated that the error of the estimates depends on both the sample size and the distance of founder allele frequencies between the sampled and the non-sampled individuals. MD samples individuals so as to minimize the latter source of estimation error.  相似文献

A programme has been developed for the evaluation of metabolism profile tests in dairy cows by means of the TESLA-200 computer in the FORTRAN language. The computer evaluates and plots the metabolism profile from input data punched on tape in the IBM code by the Consul-253 electronic organization automatic device. The metabolism profile is represented as a column graph (histogram), the levels of individual parameters being confronted with the reference levels with a 95% confidence interval and the deviations are expressed in units defined as 1/2 of the confidence interval for each parameter. Calculation by this procedure enables the construction of a profile record in which any step beyond the 95% confidence interval in any parameters is seen very clearly. The computer also produces a table of exactly calculated values of deviations from the reference levels and makes it possible to determine the numbers of abnormalities for individual parameters in the animals tested.  相似文献

针对传统用户权限确定的方法,以及基于角色用户访问控制权限的弊端,提出了以组织岗位为中心的用户权限访问控制设计思路。该思路主要是把组织岗位按照树形结构分成若干层次,不同层次由不同岗位组成,同时允许同一岗位由不同的人数组成,这样,用树形结构很好地解决了计算机应用系统用户权限的确定问题。  相似文献

Subjective evaluation of canine gait has been used for many years. However, our ability to perceive minute details during the gait cycle can be difficult and in some respects impossible even for the most talented gait specialist. The evolution of computer technology in computer assisted gait analysis over the past 20 years has improved the ability to quantitatively define temporospatial gait characteristics. These technological advances and new developments in methodological approaches have assisted researchers and clinicians in gaining a better understanding of canine locomotion. The use of kinematic and kinetic analysis has been validated as a useful tool in veterinary medicine. A computer program was devised to extract information about the fertility of bulls from a bovine reproduction data bank used in a dairy herd health program. 该设计通过无线通信技术为母猪养殖场设计了一款养殖信息采集装置,以达到远程控制养殖场的目的。以STM32F1单片机为中心控制器,选用红外传感器模块、空气温湿度传感器HMP45D模块,进行养殖场的母猪身理信息采样,采用GPRS无线传输模块完成数据的发送与接收,然后将接收到的数据实时处理后传送到上位机,上位机与电脑的连接采用Labview软件,Labview再与My Sql数据库连接,最终数据可以在系统中显示,实现了远程监测和数据化显示。此系统实现了母猪养殖的信息化数据化,具有推广前景。  相似文献

One hundred eighty-four isolates representing 23 species of mycobacteria were identified using computer-assisted analysis. All isolates were examined using a standard series of 12 biochemical tests. These tests were selected because of their reproducibility and ease of performance in the laboratory. Data from these tests were analyzed by a computer that had been previously programmed to process the information and make a species determination. Identifications from the probability model were compared to identifications from conventional methods. There was 96.7% agreement between the 2 methods. The computer-assisted data analysis for identification provides increased accuracy over conventional methods because a statistical probability is applied. It also requires less time. Differences in computer data between mycobacterial species are discussed.  相似文献

We have designed a method for measuring mechanical forces acting on the area pellucida of the chick embryo between stages 1 to 5 of HAMBURGER and HAMILTON (1951). The coordinates of several points on the outline of the area pellucida were used as input, from which a computer program measured the changes in the position of similar points to produce a table of values which, we argue, reflect mechanical forces in the embryo. The results obtained are shown to be reproducible between embryos. The computer program and the measurements obtained were then used to predict the behaviour of surgical incisions made in the area pellucida, using the tables obtained from direct measurements of embryos and the coordinates of various points on the surface of the operated embryos. This procedure was applied to embryos cultured by the method of NEW (1955) and in-ovo. It was found that in those embryos cultured by EWS technique the computer predictions correspond very closely to shape measurements made directly from embryos. However, the correspondence is less close when applied to embryos in-ovo.  相似文献

经六步法全方位整理陈旧寄生虫瓶装标本17种规格,1138件。全貌焕然一新,技术价值陡增,为标本室建立近50年来标本全息最好时期。新资料、新数据、新照片存入电脑管理。其中试验筛选的玻璃胶新材料封闭标本瓶已近5年,仍保持牢固严密、不透气、不漏液、不裂缝良好状态。解决了几十年来存在的标本瓶封闭不严、保存液长年挥发,造成标本干瘪变形的损坏和挥发的甲醛对人身健康危害的难题,为长期沉寂的标本封闭技术的一次创新。  相似文献

However, many veterinarians are unfamiliar with the relevant techniques because veterinary schools have not introduced biostatistics as a core element of their courses or adopted epidemiology as a specific discipline. EPISCOPE, the computer software presented in this paper, covers many epidemiological principles and calculations. A new computer software program "AVCRV" was developed using a statistical model to analyze the data from the indirect sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The software program calculates a sigmoid type of regression analysis and can be run on most microcomputers in the laboratory. The program permits those who are not familiar with computers to complete this type of analysis in a few seconds without a large mainframe computer or complicated software. This statistical model for a sigmoid type of regression analysis of ELISA data may improve the analysis of research data for various avian pathogens from several different experiments.  相似文献

ADAM is a computer program that models selective breeding schemes for animals using stochastic simulation. The program simulates a population of animals and traces the genetic changes in the population under different selective breeding scenarios. It caters to different population structures, genetic models, selection strategies, and mating designs.
