肉犊牛小肠黏膜免疫相关细胞的数量变化研究   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:1  
分别选择1、4、6月龄各4头利杂犊牛的十二指肠、空肠、回肠,利用组织化学法和图像分析法研究犊牛小肠的上皮内淋巴细胞、杯状细胞和肥大细胞的数量变化.结果显示在同一月龄犊牛的小肠的上皮内淋巴细胞数量由十二指肠向空肠、回肠逐渐减少,而杯状细胞的数量逐渐增加,肥大细胞的密度逐渐降低.在1、6月龄犊牛十二指肠、空肠、回肠的上皮内淋巴细胞数量之间差异极显著(P<0.01);4月龄十二指肠的上皮内淋巴细胞数量最多(P<0.01).在1月龄犊牛十二指肠、空肠、回肠杯状细胞的数量差异极显著(P<0.01);4和6月龄犊牛十二指肠和空肠之间的杯状细胞的数量差异不显著(P>0.05),但二者与犊牛回肠杯状细胞的数量差异极显著(P<0.01).各年龄犊牛十二指肠、空肠、回肠的肥大细胞密度差异极显著(P<0.01),4月龄时犊牛小肠的肥大细胞密度最低.结果提示犊牛的黏膜免疫水平可能与其机体的发育相一致.  相似文献

Breath hydrogen concentration and small intestinal malabsorption in calves   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Breath hydrogen concentrations were measured to assess intestinal carbohydrate malabsorption in preruminating calves. Oral administration of 1.25 g of lactulose (a nonabsorbable carbohydrate)/kg to calves produced breath hydrogen concentrations significantly (P less than 0.001) higher than values determined after calves were fed milk and before the treatment was given. This indicates that, in the calf, fermentation of nonabsorbed carbohydrates results in increased breath hydrogen values. To induce small intestinal malabsorption, chloramphenicol was administered orally at 50 mg/kg, 2 times a day, to 5 calves for 3 days. Before therapy was started, each calf was fitted with a duodenal cannula to facilitate collection of intestinal mucosal biopsy samples during treatment. Chloramphenicol therapy significantly (P less than 0.001) increased breath hydrogen concentrations from those values measured after calves were fed milk alone. Concurrently, chloramphenicol administration significantly decreased intestinal villous length (P less than 0.001) and D-xylose absorption (P less than 0.05), compared with those values before treatment was given. These results demonstrate that decreased intestinal absorptive capacity is associated with an increase in breath hydrogen concentrations and that breath hydrogen may be useful in evaluating malabsorption in calves with naturally occurring enteric disease.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To develop laparoscopic-assisted techniques for enterostomy feeding tube placement and full-thickness biopsy of the jejunum in dogs. ANIMALS: 15 healthy dogs. PROCEDURE Dogs were anesthetized, and positive pressure ventilation was provided. A trocar cannula for the laparoscope was inserted on the ventral midline caudal to the umbilicus. For enterostomy tube placement, a second trocar cannula was placed lateral to the right rectus abdominis muscle, and a Babcock forceps was used to grasp the duodenum and elevate it to the incision made for the cannula. The duodenum was sutured to the abdominal wall, and a feeding tube was inserted. For jejunal biopsy, a third trocar cannula was placed lateral to the left rectus abdominis muscle. A portion of jejunum was elevated to the incision for the second or third cannula, and a full-thickness biopsy specimen was obtained. A second specimen was obtained from another portion of jejunum, and retention sutures for the 2 biopsy sites were tied so that serosal surfaces of the biopsy sites were apposed to each other. Dogs were euthanatized 30 days after surgery. RESULTS: The enterostomy tube was properly positioned and functional in all 8 dogs that underwent laparoscopic-assisted enterostomy tube placement, and sufficient samples for histologic examination were obtained from all 7 dogs that underwent laparoscopic-assisted jejunal biopsy. None of the dogs had any identifiable problems after surgery. CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Results suggest that in dogs, laparoscopic-assisted procedures for enterostomy tube placement and jejunal biopsy are an acceptable alternative to procedures performed during a laparotomy.  相似文献

试验旨在建立猪流行性腹泻病毒(PEDV)感染幼龄仔猪肠道损伤模型。试验选用16头7日龄健康幼龄仔猪(杜×长×大),随机分为两个处理组:对照组和PEDV组,每个处理8个重复,每个重复1头猪。试验期为10 d,试验期间两个处理组饲喂相同的基础日粮。于试验第7天晚上对PEDV组仔猪口腔灌服PEDV病毒(剂量为104.5 TCID50),对照组灌服等量的生理盐水。于试验第10天早上空腹灌服D-木糖(0.1 g/kg体重),1 h后前腔静脉采血,屠宰取样,取十二指肠、空肠、回肠等组织样品,测定平均日增重(ADG)、腹泻率(DR)、肠道形态结构、肠道黏膜损伤相关基因mRNA水平。试验结果表明:①PEDV感染显著降低了仔猪ADG(P<0.05),极显著提高了仔猪腹泻率(P<0.01);②PEDV感染极显著降低了血浆D-木糖含量、空肠和回肠绒毛高度、十二指肠、空肠和回肠绒毛高度与隐窝深度的比值(P<0.01),显著提高了十二指肠和空肠隐窝深度(P<0.05);③PEDV感染极显著提高了仔猪空肠黏膜PEDV M基因的相对表达量(P<0.01),极显著降低了肠绒毛蛋白(villin)和肠型脂肪酸结合蛋白(i-FABP)基因的相对表达量(P<0.01)。以上结果表明,口腔灌服PEDV可以成功诱导建立幼龄仔猪肠道损伤模型。  相似文献

Colostrum intake influences growth and development of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) in several species and colostral insulin-like growth factors I and II (IGF-I and IGF-II), and insulin are involved in neonatal intestinal tissue growth. We have studied IGF type 1, IGF type 2, and insulin receptors in the intestine of 8-day-old calves fed different amounts of colostrum or only milk replacer. Calves were fed colostrum of the first six milkings on the first 3 days and then milk replacer (GrC(6)) or colostrum only once and then milk replacer (GrC(1)) or they were fed only milk replacer from the beginning, i.e., no colostrum (GrM). Competitive binding studies and ligand blots confirmed the presence of IGF type 1, IGF type 2, and insulin receptors in mucosal cell membranes of duodenum, jejunum, ileum, and colon. The IGF type 1 receptor number in ileum and total intestine in GrC(6) was greater (P<0.05) than in GrC(1) and in GrM, and IGF type 2 receptor number in total intestine was greater (P<0.05) in GrC(6) than in GrM. Insulin binding was best fitted by a model with two binding sites. High affinity insulin receptor numbers in duodenum, ileum, and total intestine were greater (P<0.05) in GrC(6) than in GrM. The data demonstrate that IGF type 1, IGF type 2, and insulin receptors in intestinal mucosa of neonatal calves are influenced by feeding.  相似文献

Two Holstein calves with similar histories of not defecating since birth were determined to have atresia jejuni. Resection of the distended blind end of the jejunum and the remaining jejunum and ileum followed by a jejunocecostomy was performed. One calf died 7 months after surgery of unknown causes. The second calf has survived for greater than 1 year, and has maintained a growth rate similar to other calves its age. Atresia jejuni has been reported to be a universally fatal disorder of unknown pathogenesis. It has been postulated that intestinal atresia is caused by palpation of the amniotic vesicle at the time of pregnancy diagnosis, between days 36 and 42 of gestation.  相似文献

本试验旨在研究饲喂含有不同加工处理大豆蛋白的代乳粉对犊牛消化道结构和消化酶活性的影响。试验选用新生公犊牛18只,随机分为3组,每组6只,分别饲喂含有全脂大豆粉(A组)、脱脂大豆粉(B组)或膨化大豆粉(C组)的代乳粉, 预饲期7 d, 试验期42 d。结果表明,代乳粉中不同加工处理的大豆蛋白对犊牛肠道消化酶活性和小肠形态结构具有显著的影响。与膨化大豆粉组和全脂大豆粉犊牛相比,B组犊牛小肠食糜中胰蛋白酶活性和糜蛋白酶活性最低。各组绒毛高度在空肠近端无显著差异,在小肠其它各段,A组和C组都显著高于B组(P<0.05)。各组犊牛十二指肠和空肠近端隐窝深度无显著差异(P>0.05)。A组和C组的小肠绒毛高度与隐窝深度比值均显著高于B组(P<0.05)。十二指肠和空肠近端、中部的黏膜厚度接近(P>0.05),但在空肠远端A组与C组无显著差异(P>0.05),显著高于B组(P<0.05)。综上所述,加热全脂大豆蛋白粉和膨化大豆蛋白粉能够作为蛋白质来源在代乳粉中添加。  相似文献

为研究日粮中添加天蚕素、合生素对AA肉鸡小肠黏膜形态及免疫细胞的影响,试验选用480只1日龄健康AA肉鸡,随机分为4组,每组4个重复,每个重复30只鸡。对照组(Ⅰ组)饲喂基础日粮,试验组(Ⅱ~Ⅳ组)分别在基础日粮中添加0.5%天蚕素、0.3%合生素、0.5%天蚕素+0.3%合生素。试验期42 d。结果显示,与Ⅰ组相比,Ⅳ组十二指肠、回肠绒毛高度极显著升高(P<0.01);Ⅱ组空肠和回肠、Ⅲ组小肠各段隐窝深度显著或极显著降低(P<0.05;P<0.01);Ⅱ、Ⅲ组小肠各段和Ⅳ组十二指肠、回肠绒毛高度/隐窝深度显著或极显著升高(P<0.05;P<0.01);Ⅱ组空肠绒毛宽度显著降低(P<0.05),Ⅲ组十二指肠和空肠、Ⅳ组空肠和回肠绒毛宽度均极显著降低(P<0.01);Ⅱ、Ⅲ组空肠黏膜厚度显著升高(P<0.05),Ⅳ组小肠各段黏膜厚度均极显著升高(P<0.01)。Ⅱ组回肠上皮内淋巴细胞数量显著升高(P<0.05),Ⅲ组十二指肠、Ⅳ组小肠各段上皮内淋巴细胞数量极显著升高(P<0.01);Ⅲ组十二指肠、Ⅳ组十二指肠和回肠杯状细胞数量极显著升高(P<0.01);Ⅳ组空肠肥大细胞数量显著升高(P<0.05)。综上所述,天蚕素、合生素单独或联合添加均能改善AA肉鸡小肠黏膜结构,促进小肠黏膜免疫细胞增殖,联合添加效果最佳。  相似文献

In order to investigate the effects of cecropin and synbiotics on the intestinal mucosal morphology and intestinal mucosal immune cells of AA broilers. 480 of 1-day-old healthy AA broilers were chosen and randomly divided into 4 groups with 4 replicates per group and 30 broilers per replicate. The broilers in group Ⅰ(control group) were fed basal diet,while that in groups Ⅱ to Ⅳ were fed the basal diet supplemented with 0.5% cecropin,0.3% synbiotics,0.5% cecropin+0.3% synbiotics,respectively. The trial lasted for 42 days. The result showed that compared with group Ⅰ,the villus height of duodenum and ileum in group Ⅳ were extremely significantly increased (P<0.01).The crypt depth of jejunum and ileum in group Ⅱ,and that of small intestine in group Ⅲ were significantly or extremely significantly decreased (P<0.05;P<0.01).The villus height/crypt depth of small intestine in groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ,and that of duodenum and ileum in group Ⅳ were significantly or extremely significantly increased (P<0.05;P<0.01).The villus width of jejunum in group Ⅱ was significantly decreased (P<0.05),while the villus width of duodenum and jejunum in group Ⅲ,that of jejunum and ileum in group Ⅳ were extremely significantly decreased (P<0.01).The mucous thickness of jejunum in groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ were significantly increased (P<0.05),while that of small intestine in group Ⅳ was extremely significantly increased (P<0.01).The number of the intraepithelial lymphocyte of ileum in group Ⅱ was significantly increased (P<0.05),and that of duodenum in group Ⅲ and small intestine in group Ⅳ were extremely significantly increased (P<0.01).The number of the goblet cell of duodenum in group Ⅲ,duodenum and ileum in group Ⅳ were extremely significantly increased (P<0.01).The mast cell of jejunum in group Ⅳ was significantly increased (P<0.05).In conclusion,both the cecropin and synbiotics could improve the small intestine mucosal structure and promote the small intestine mucosal immunocompetent cells proliferation in AA broiler, and the effect of combined utilization would be better.  相似文献

Ten calves were used to elucidate the ultrastructure of enterocytes before and 24 h after colostral intake. Tissue samples were obtained from duodenum, jejunum (5 locations) and ileum. Protein A-gold technique was applied to immuno-electron-microscopically demonstrate colostral IgA. The prominent feature of the precolostral enterocytes are intra-cytoplasmic vacuoles. The frequency of vacuoles increases from cranial jejunum to ileum and from the villi bases to the tips. The appearance of absorptive vacuoles after colostral administration correlates with the incidence of precolostral empty vacuoles. Bovine IgA was detected in absorptive vacuoles and within the intestinal lumen of postcolostral calves. In addition to a diffuse IgA labelling of most vacuoles, a few corresponding enterocytic vacuoles labelled inhomogenously or negatively. This study demonstrates morphologically that the main site of colostral absorption is the middle-to-caudal region of the small intestine. Immunoelectron microscopy of IgA labelling provides indications of a selective IgA absorption in addition to pinocytosis.  相似文献

Isosmolar oral rehydrating solutions (ORS) used to treat diarrheic calves are low in energy. In contrast, hyperosmolar ORS may have a dehydrating effect. This study was designed to compare the net water and glucose absorption from the small intestine of normal calves given isosmolar or hyperosmolar ORS. Six calves were used for the experiment. A reentrant ileal cannula was implanted surgically. Each calf was fed with either the isosmolar or the hyperosmolar solution. The next day, the second solution was given. Both contained chromium EDTA as a nonabsorbable marker. Changes in the hematocrit, total plasma protein, plasma osmolality, plasma glucose concentration, and ileal volume, osmolality, glucose content, and chromium concentration were monitored for 10 hours. The only statistically significant difference was in the post-feeding plasma glucose level: it peaked at the higher level (p less than 0.05) in calves fed the hyperosmolar solution. In normal calves, the hyperosmolar ORS had no effect on the hydration or on the small intestinal fluid composition.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of withdrawal of lactose from the diet for 72 hours on lactase activity in the jejunal mucosa of conventionally raised calves. The descending portion of the duodenum of six Holstein calves less than 24 hours old was cannulated. The calves were fed milk except on days 5, 6 and 7 when they were given the same volume of an electrolyte solution. Sequential biopsy specimens of the proximal jejunal mucosa were obtained for three weeks and the lactase activity determined. Lactase activity was highest on day 1 and a trend toward decreased lactase activity from birth until three weeks was observed. Mean lactase activity was significantly (p less than 0.05) higher for days 1, and 3 compared to days 9, 13 and 17. The withdrawal of milk and replacement by an electrolyte solution during three days had no significant effect on jejunal mucosal lactase activity in neonatal calves.  相似文献

试验研究罗格列酮(ROS)对脂多糖(LPS)刺激的断奶仔猪肠黏膜结构和抗氧化能力的影响。试验包括3个处理组,对照组注射生理盐水,LPS组注射100μg/kg体重的LPS,ROS组在注射LPS之前的30min注射3mg/kg体重的ROS。注射LPS3h后取样。结果表明:ROS提高了十二指肠和回肠DNA的含量(P0.05);ROS缓解了LPS导致的十二指肠、空肠和回肠隐窝深度的增加(P0.10)和绒毛高度/隐窝深度的降低(P0.01);ROS降低了空肠丙二醛含量(P0.10),提高了十二指肠和空肠SOD活性(P0.05)。结果表明,ROS可能是通过提高肠道抗氧化功能而对LPS刺激的断奶仔猪小肠形态结构的损伤起到一定保护作用。  相似文献

Production losses from abortions, stillbirths, and early calf mortality were described for the 2002 calf crop in 203 beef herds in western Canada. A total of 1689 calves were examined. A summary diagnosis was reported for 64% of aborted calves, 78% of stillborn calves, 88% of neonatal calves, and 94% of the calves > 3 d of age. Diagnoses for aborted calves included: thyroid gland lesions, pneumonia, developmental anomalies, placentitis, and myocardial necrosis or myopathy. For stillborn calves, diagnostic findings included: dystocia, thyroid gland lesions, myocardial necrosis or myopathy, developmental anomalies, and skeletal myopathy or necrosis. The most common diagnoses for neonatal calves (≤ 3 d) were: pneumonia, skeletal myopathy or necrosis, myocardial necrosis or myopathy, accident or trauma, and septicemia. For older calves (3 d to 3 mo), the most common diagnoses included: starvation, abomasal ulcer or perforation, enteritis or colitis, pneumonia, and intestinal volvulus, obstruction, or perforation.  相似文献

Identification of a bovine enteric syncytial virus as a nongroup A rotavirus   总被引:10,自引:0,他引:10  
An atypical or nongroup A rotavirus was identified in feces obtained from gnotobiotic calves in which fecal preparations originally derived during an epizootic of neonatal calf diarrhea had been serially passaged. The epizootic was previously reported to be caused by a noncharacterized viral agent that induced the formation of epithelial syncytia on small intestinal villi of experimentally infected calves. This bovine, nongroup A rotavirus was found to be antigenically related to a described atypical rotavirus of rats by immunofluorescence and by enzyme immunoassay. Complementary DNA derived from the atypical rat rotavirus cross hybridized with RNA obtained from the bovine virus, but not with RNA extracted from group A rotaviruses. Complementary DNA derived from SA-11 group A rotavirus cross hybridized with other group A rotavirus RNA, but not with RNA obtained from either the rat or bovine nongroup A isolates. Additionally, another similar, if not identical, bovine atypical rotavirus was identified in a second epizootic of neonatal calf diarrhea that occurred several hundred kilometers and 8 months apart from the original epizootic.  相似文献

A number of different viruses can be primary pathogens in the neonatal calf diarrhea complex. By far the most common viruses causing calfhood diarrhea found throughout the world are rotaviruses and coronaviruses. Primary infection of newborn calves with either one of these viruses can cause severe intestinal alterations and diarrhea. Rotaviruses can produce high-morbidity outbreaks of diarrhea in calves under 10 days of age. Morality is variable mainly owing to secondary bacterial infections and electrolyte imbalances. Rotavirus infection of the small intestinal mucosa leads to loss of enterocytes of the upper third of the intestinal villi with subsequent villous atrophy and malabsorption. There is growing evidence that different rotavirus serotypes of different pathogenicity exist. Coronavirus infections can produce high-morbidity outbreaks of diarrhea in calves under 20 days of age, with variable mortality due to secondary complications. Coronaviruses affect not only the small intestinal mucosa, producing significant villous atrophy, but also the colon, causing a very severe intestinal damage that can lead to death due to subsequent electrolyte disturbances. All coronaviruses associated with neonatal calf diarrhea appear to be of the same serotype. The etiologic diagnosis of viral diarrheas of calves requires the support of the laboratory. One of the most useful diagnostic methods is the examination of fecal extracts for the presence of virus particles by electron microscopy. Other antigen-detection procedures like enzyme immunoassays have been found to be useful in the diagnosis of rotaviral diarrheas. The sample of choice for these diagnostic tests is a fresh fecal sample collected directly from the calf as close as possible to the onset of diarrhea. Samples from more than one calf during the outbreak enhance the laboratory ability to establish a proper viral diagnosis.  相似文献

Deoxynivalenol (DON) decreases glucose absorption in the proximal jejunum of laying hens in vitro and this effect is apparently mediated by the inhibition of the sodium D-glucose co-transporter. DON could modulate the sugar transport of other intestinal regions of chickens. For this purpose, we have measured the effects of DON on the Na(+) D-glucose co-transporter, by addition of DON after and before a glucose addition in the isolated epithelium from chicken duodenum, jejunum, ileum, caecum and colon by using the Ussing chamber technique in the voltage clamp technique. The data showed in all segments of the gut that the addition of D-glucose on the mucosal side produced an increase in the current (Isc) compared with the basal values, the Isc after glucose addition to the small intestine was greater than the Isc of the large intestine compared with the basal values, specially of the jejunum (p < 0.002), indicating that the jejunum is the segment that is the best prepared for Na(+)-D-glucose co-transport. Further addition of 10 microg DON/ml to the mucosal solution decreased the Isc in all segments and the Isc returned to the basal value, especially in the duodenum and mid jejunum (p < 0.05). In contrast, the addition of 5 mmol D-glucose/l on the mucosal side after incubation of the tissues with DON in all segments had no effect on the Isc (p > 0.05), suggesting that DON previously inhibited the Na(+)D-glucose co-transport. The blocking effects of DON in duodenum and jejunum were greater than the other regions of the gut. It can be concluded that the small intestine of laying hens has the most relevant role in the carrier mediated glucose transport and the large intestine, having non-significant capacity to transport sugars, appears to offer a minor contribution to glucose transport because the surface area is small. The effect of D-glucose on the Isc was reversed by DON in all segments, especially in the duodenum and jejunum, suggesting that DON entirely inhibited Na(+)-D-glucose co-transport. This finding indicates that the inhibition of Na(+) co-transport system in all segments could be an important mode of action for DON toxicity of hens.  相似文献

In this study, we investigated the effects of administration of coumestrol during pregnancy on calcium (Ca) metabolism in post-delivery maternal and neonatal mice. From 6.5 to 16.5 days post coitus (dpc), pregnant females were administered daily doses of coumestrol (200 microg/kg body weight/day). One day after parturition, blood samples and the kidneys, liver, jejunum and duodenum were obtained from each of maternal mouse, and blood samples and the kidneys and liver were obtained from neonatal mice. Coumestrol did not have any significant effect on the Ca and inorganic phosphorus concentrations in the sera of the maternal and neonatal mice. No notable effects of coumestrol were observed in relation to Vitamin D receptor expression in the maternal and neonatal mice by immunohistochemical analysis. Coumestrol did not affect the Vitamin D receptor and epithelial calcium channel and 2 mRNA levels in any of the organs investigated. Enzyme histochemical analysis showed that coumestrol decreased intestinal alkaline phosphatase activity in the maternal jejunum and duodenum. In the duodenum, coumestrol decreased expression of intestinal alkaline phosphatase, c-fos and vascular endothelial growth factor at the mRNA level. However, we did not observe any significant effects of coumestrol on the expression of these genes. In conclusion, coumestrol decreased intestinal alkaline phosphatase activity in the small intestines of maternal mice at the level used in the present study, and the mechanisms underlying this effect are different for the jejunum and duodenum.  相似文献

Metabolic acidosis has long been known as a frequent and potentially severe complication of neonatal calf diarrhoea. It has also been described in 'acidosis-without-dehydration' syndrome in calves and was suspected to occur during ruminal drinking. Clinical signs of central nervous impairment, particularly changes in behaviour and posture, progressing to coma and recumbency, were originally attributed to this metabolic disturbance. The loss of bicarbonate in the faeces was regarded as the main cause of acidosis in this context. During the past decade, however, evidence has accumulated that d-lactic acidosis is a more common occurrence in calves with neonatal diarrhoea. The most probable source of D-lactataemia is bacterial fermentation of undigested substrate that reaches the large intestine due to damage to small intestinal mucosal epithelium. Recent research has shown that most of the clinical signs that were formerly attributed to acidosis were in fact due to elevated blood levels of D-lactate. The aim of this review is to provide a current overview of d-lactic acidosis.  相似文献

1. A study was conducted on the pattern of development of the intestinal mucosa of the Steggles x Ross (F1) strain of broiler chickens reared on a commercial starter diet. The mechanisms underlying the structural changes were also assessed. 2. In relation to body weight, small intestinal weight peaked at 7 d of age and declined subsequently. There was also a reduction in the relative weights of the gizzard and yolk sac with age. The length of the small intestine and its regions increased with age. 3. Crypt depth increased with age in the duodenum and jejunum while villus height increased significantly with age in all three regions of the small intestine. There were also significant changes in apparent villus surface area in the three regions, while interactions between age and intestinal region were significant in the case of crypt depth and villus height. 4. There were significant differences between the age groups in the mucosal protein content of jejunal and ileal homogenates, both tending to peak at 7 d of age. The DNA content of the intestinal mucosa declined with age in the three regions of the small intestine. While there was an increase in RNA content in the duodenum and ileum, there was a reduction in the jejunum. 5. Protein: DNA ratio increased between hatch and 21 d of age in all intestinal regions. Protein: RNA ratio decreased with age in the duodenum and ileum but increased in the jejunum. There were significant increases in RNA: DNA ratio in the duodenum and ileum but no changes were observed in the jejunum. The interactions between age and intestinal region were significant for all biochemical indices assessed. 6. At all ages, enterocyte proliferation at the jejunum was completed and quantifiable within 1 h of administration of 5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine (BrDU). Subsequent assessment revealed an increase in crypt column count and number of BrDU-labelled cells. The rate of cell migration increased with age while there was a decline in the distance migrated in proportion to mucosal depth. The estimated life-span of enterocytes and time spent by enterocytes in the crypt varied with age. In d-old and 7-d-old chicks, migration was complete or nearly complete within 96 h of cell birth. 7. Although the intestinal mucosa of the strain was structurally developed at hatch, there was much change in structure with age, especially over the first 7 d post hatch. The rate of development was most rapid in the jejunum but the other regions are also important, on account of villus height or relative length of the region.  相似文献
