Effect of insemination regimen on embryo production in superovulated cows   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Three experiments tested the effects of six insemination regimens on embryo production in superovulated cows. One, two or three inseminations with one unit of semen at each time produced the same percentage fertilised (74, 68 and 74 per cent, P = 0.673) and the same number of fertilised embryos (8.2, 6.3 and 9.1, P = 0.136). However, the one and two inseminations group had less transferable (P = 0.008) and total (P = 0.051) embryos (3.9/9.6 and 3.9/8.9) than the three inseminations group (6.8/13.2). The percentage transferable remained the same (42, 45 and 58 per cent, P = 0.161). When two units of semen were used at the first or middle insemination and one, two and three inseminations were compared, the percentage fertilised (65, 77 and 77 per cent, P = 0.082) and the number fertilised (7.0, 7.4 and 8.6, P = 0.565) were again the same but the number (P = 0.047) and percentage transferable (P = 0.000) increased between the one and two inseminations (3.8 vs 5.7 and 30 per cent vs 54 per cent). The increase in transferable embryos with multiple inseminations could not be explained physiologically, but is of concern since transferable embryos are the "sales product' of superovulation. Two inseminations with one unit of semen was as effective as two inseminations with three units of semen, in terms of percentage fertilised (68 and 70 per cent, P = 0.762), number fertilised (10.3 and 8.3, P = 0.582), transferable embryos (6.7 and 5.7 P = 0.532), percentage transferable (44 and 46 per cent, P = 0.737) and total embryos recovered (14.8 and 12.7, P = 0.54).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Effects of age of donor and other factors on superovulation and production of transferable embryos were investigated. Data were obtained on 987 recoveries of embryos performed between November 1980 and June 1984 by Select Embryos, Inc. The 339 Holstein donors ranged in age from 1.8 to 17.8 yr. The effects of age of donor and dose of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) were examined using regression analysis. For on-farm recoveries, numbers of embryos, rates of fertilization, quality scores of all embryos and numbers of transferable embryos decreased (P less than .01, P less than .001, P less than .05, P less than .01, respectively) with increasing age of donor. For in-clinic recoveries, numbers of embryos plus ova recovered were affected by age of donor, dose of FSH and the interaction of the two (P less than .05). Among older donors, increasing doses of FSH were associated with an increase in the number of ova plus embryos recovered. However, among younger donors, increasing doses of FSH had a negative effect. Numbers of embryos, rates of fertilization and numbers of transferable embryos decreased (P less than .05) with advancing age and increased (P less than .05) with increasing doses of FSH. Greater numbers of ova plus embryos were recovered when treatment with FSH was begun on d 10 or 11 as compared with d 7, 8, 9, 12, 13 or 14 (P less than .001). It was concluded that an increase in age of donor had a negative influence on the success of superovulation and the production of transferable embryos, and that the response to FSH was affected by age of donor.  相似文献

Effects of age of cow and a norgestomet (N) implant on number of embryos and endocrine responses to induction of superovulation were studied in old (greater than 12 yr) and young (5 to 7 yr) lactating beef cows. Seventeen cows (8 old and 9 young) received a 6-mg N ear implant on d 4 or 5 of the cycle (d 0 = estrus); the remaining 17 cows (9 old and 8 young) served as untreated controls (C). All animals were treated with 38 mg of porcine follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH-P) in decreasing dosages over a 4.5-d period beginning on d 10 or 11. Regression of the corpus luteum was induced with injections of PGF2 alpha at 0800 and 2000 on d 4 of FSH-P treatment; implants were removed at the second injection of PGF2 alpha. Cows were inseminated artificially 12 and 24 h after onset of estrus. Embryos were collected on d 7 or 8 postinsemination. Blood samples were obtained daily at 0800 from 2 d prior to initiation of treatment with FSH-P until collection of embryos. An additional sample was collected each day at 2000, from the first injection of PGF2 alpha to 1 d after onset of estrus. Samples were assayed for luteinizing hormone (LH), progesterone (P4), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and estradiol-17 beta (E2). Total number of embryos plus ova recovered was lower (P less than .01) in N-treated (5.2 +/- 1.1) than in C-treated (10.6 +/- 1.6) cows.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the use of a gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) vaccine in the treatment of headshaking in horses. Fifteen geldings received two doses of the GnRH vaccine four weeks apart. Serum was collected before and after vaccination to measure concentrations of luteinising hormone (LH) (10 horses) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) (six horses). Owners recorded the frequency of seven common headshaking behaviours using a visual analogue scale (VAS) before vaccination and at two, four, eight, 12, 16 and 20 weeks after vaccination. Serum LH (P=0.008) and FSH (P=0.03) concentrations decreased significantly following vaccination. Although approximately one-third of the owners reported a subjective improvement in headshaking, serial scoring did not indicate a reduction in headshaking behaviours following vaccination with a commercial GnRH vaccine. Vaccination reactions were observed in four of 15 horses (27 per cent), including one case of severe, presumed immune-mediated, myositis.  相似文献

Day of embryo collection, quality and pregnancy rates in cattle   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In 1300 donor cows, total embryos increased from 8.5 to 15.3, (P less than 0.001), the mean number of transferable embryos from 3.1 to 6.5 (P = 0.067) and pregnancies increased from 1.3 to 3.3 (P = 0.584) as the day of collection increased from six to 7.5. Most of the embryos recovered on day 6, 7.5 and 8 were morulae, early blastocysts and late blastocysts respectively. Morulae formed the majority of the embryos collected on days 6 and 6.5. Pregnancy rates in early and late blastocysts were highest on days 7 (54.4 and 60.2 per cent) and 7.5 (53.6 and 53.1 per cent, P = 0.009 and 0.004). There were significant differences in pregnancy rates between embryo stages on days 7 and 7.5 (P less than 0.001), embryo grades on days 7, 7.5 and 8 (P less than 0.001), and within embryo grades 1 (P = 0.015) and 3 and 4 (pooled, P = 0.009). On all days combined there were significant differences in pregnancy rates between both embryo stages (P = 0.007) and embryo grades (P less than 0.001). It appears that the concept of embryo fitness may be applied to blastocysts but not to morulae.  相似文献

Forty-six adult merino ewes were immunised against oestradiol-17 beta-6 carbomethyloxime:human serum albumin and 48 comparable ewes were used as controls in an experiment to study the effects of gonadotrophin releasing hormone (GnRH) on ovulatory responses after treatment with pregnant mare's serum gonadotrophin (PMSG). All the ewes were treated with progestogen sponges for 14 days and received 1500 iu PMSG on the 12th day. Twenty-four control and 24 immunised ewes received 25 micrograms GnRH 21.5 hours and 23 hours after the sponges were withdrawn. Plasma samples were collected between 17 and 50 hours after the sponges were withdrawn and assayed for luteinising hormone (LH). Immunisation reduced the proportion of ewes which ovulated and their rate of ovulation. Injection of GnRH increased the proportion of immunised ewes ovulating (P less than 0.0005) and their rate of ovulation (P less than 0.0001). More unovulated follicles were observed in immunised ewes regardless of GnRH treatment (P less than 0.0001). The rate of recovery of eggs was reduced after immunisation. Treatment with GnRH produced a surge of LH of equal magnitude in the control and immunised ewes although not as many immunised ewes ovulated.  相似文献

The amount of messenger RNA (mRNA) for luteinizing hormone beta-subunit (LH beta), follicle-stimulating hormone beta-subunit (FSH beta) and alpha-subunit was measured during estradiol-17 beta (E) positive feedback in ovariectomized (OVX) ewes. During the anestrous season, OVX ewes were given an i.m. injection of E (25 micrograms: n = 5) or oil (control; n = 4) and hourly blood samples were collected for 16 hr. After blood collection, ewes were killed and anterior pituitary glands were removed for analysis of hormone and mRNA content. Preovulatory-like increases in serum concentrations of LH and FSH were measured in E-treated OVX ewes. In two E-treated OVX ewes the serum concentrations of LH and FSH were still increasing, whereas in the remaining three E-treated OVX ewes, serum concentrations of LH were on the decreasing portion of the E-induced preovulatory-like surge. Pituitary content of LH was lower (P less than .10) in E-treated OVX ewes when serum concentrations of LH were decreasing than that measured in control ewes or E-treated OVX ewes in which serum concentrations were still increasing. Pituitary content of FSH and prolactin were similar (P greater than .05) among all groups. The amount of mRNA for LH beta-subunit was similar (P greater than .05) in ewes in which serum concentrations of LH were increasing and in control ewes, but was lower (P less than .05) in ewes with decreasing levels of LH. The amount of mRNA for FSH beta-subunit was lower (P less than .05) in all E-treated OVX ewes (independent of whether serum concentrations of FSH were increasing or decreasing) than that measured in control ewes. There was no difference (P greater than .05) in the amount of mRNA for alpha-subunit among any groups. Thus, amounts of mRNA for the beta-subunits of gonadotropins are reduced, while amounts of mRNA for alpha-subunit are unchanged during estradiol positive feedback in OVX ewes.  相似文献

Influence of day length on seasonal endocrine responses were studied using stallions (seven per group). Treatments included 1) control, with natural day length; 2) 8 h light and 16 h dark (8:16) for 20 wk beginning July 16, 1982 then 16:8 from December 2, 1982 until March 5, 1984 (S-L); or 3) 8:16 from July 16, 1982 until March 5, 1984 (S-S). Blood was sampled hourly for 5 h every 4 wk; sera were pooled within horse, and luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and testosterone were quantified. Blood was collected every 20 min for 24 h every 8 wk and 2 wk before and after the December light shift. Samples were assayed for LH. Stallions in all groups underwent seasonal changes (P less than .05) in concentrations of LH, FSH, testosterone and basal concentrations of LH and amplitude of LH pulses. Season X treatment (P less than .05) reflected on early recrudescence of LH, FSH and testosterone concentrations in S-L stallions followed by earlier regression. Except for FSH hormone concentrations were depressed in S-S stallions. Number of LH pulses per 24 h was unaffected by season, treatment or their interaction. Mean amplitude of LH pulses was affected (P less than .05) by season X treatment; maximal values occurred in April vs February for control and S-L stallions, and minimal values occurred in December vs April. The season X treatment interaction (P less than .05) similarly affected basal concentrations of LH. Thus, seasonal changes in concentrations of LH, FSH and testosterone can be driven by photoperiod. Increased peripheral concentrations of LH during seasonal recrudescence of reproductive function apparently results from more LH secreted per discharge without an increased frequency of LH discharges.  相似文献

The effects of unilateral castration (UC) and induced unilateral cryptorchidism (UCR) on basal plasma luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and testosterone, and on the responses of these hormones to gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH), were investigated in bulls altered at 3, 6 or 9 months of age. Blood plasma was collected before and after GnRH (200 micrograms) stimulation approximately 1 year following gonadal manipulation. Neither mean baseline concentrations nor GnRH-induced increases in plasma testosterone were altered (P greater than .1) by hemicastration or UCR (P greater than .1). Both mean baseline LH and GnRH-induced LH release were greater (P less than .05) in bulls altered at 3 months of age than in bulls altered at 9 months of age. UC increased (P less than .05) plasma LH response to GnRH over that observed in intact bulls, but not above that in UCR bulls. UCR had no detectable effect on either baseline concentrations or GnRH-stimulated LH release. FSH was increased (P less than .05) in hemicastrates, while UCR had a variable effect on peripheral FSH: FSH was reduced (P less than .05) in UCR animals altered at 3 months of age but increased (P less than .05) in UCR bulls altered at both 6 and 9 months of age when compared to FSH in intact bulls. The results indicate that, compared with intact bulls, UC bulls release increased amounts of both gonadotropins but similar amounts of testosterone in response to GnRH stimulation. UCR had a variable effect on FSH release and did not alter either LH or testosterone.  相似文献

In Exp. 1, 16 long-term ovariectomized pony mares were used to determine the effects of treatment with estradiol benzoate (EB) and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) benzoate alone, and in combination, on secretion of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) in daily blood samples and after three consecutive injections of gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH). Administration of EB alone, or in combination with DHT, every other day for 11 d reduced (P less than .05) concentrations of FSH and increased (P less than .05) concentrations of LH in daily blood samples, and increased (P less than .05) the secretion of both gonadotropins after administration of GnRH. Treatment with DHT alone had no effect (P greater than .10) on LH or FSH concentrations in daily blood samples and no effect on the LH response to exogenous GnRH. There was no interaction (P greater than .10) between DHT and EB treatment for any hormonal characteristic. In Exp. 2, the control mares and mares treated with DHT in Exp. 1 were equally allotted to treatment with vehicle or testosterone propionate (TP) every other day for six injections, and then GnRH was administered as in Exp. 1. Treatment with TP had no effect (P greater than .10) on LH or FSH concentrations in daily blood samples but increased (P less than .05) the FSH response to exogenous GnRH, confirming our findings in previous experiments. It is concluded that the TP-induced stimulation of FSH secretion after exogenous GnRH in ovariectomized mares may involve estrogens produced from aromatization of the injected androgen.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of a co-treatment of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) plus equine chorionic gonadotrophin (eCG) on serum insulin and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) concentrations, superovulatory response, ovulatory rate, and number and production of embryos in Katahdin breed ewes during the non-breeding season. Twenty Katahdin ewes were synchronized with progestagens (CIDR) and assigned to two superovulation treatments (n = 10): (1): ewes treated with 200 mg ewe−1 of FSH from day 5 to 8 after CIDR insertion at decreasing doses every 12 h (FSH group) and (2) ewes treated as FSH group plus 300 IU of eCG on day 5 after CIDR insertion (FSH + eCG group). Estrous behavior was monitored and direct mating was performed. On days − 7 (CIDR insertion), 0 (CIDR withdrawal), and 7 (embryo recovery), blood samples were collected to determine serum hormone concentrations. Co-treatment with eCG (FSH group) did not affect (P > 0.05) serum hormone levels. Superovulation response, ovulation rate, recovery rate, fertilization, and number of embryos were also similar (P > 0.05) between treatments. Compared with FSH group, FSH + eCG ewes had lower (P < 0.05) number of transferable embryos and higher (P < 0.05) number of oocyte and a tendency to increase the number of degenerated embryos (P = 0.07). Overall results suggest that the administration of eCG is not beneficial either to improve the ovulatory response or the amount of transferable embryos in Katahdin ewes superovulated with a protocol using progesterone and FSH at decreasing doses.

Thirty-five ovariectomized pony mares were used to study the relationships among luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and prolactin (PRL) concentrations in blood (secretion), in pituitary (storage) and in blood after secretagogue administration, as well as the content of gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) in hypothalamic areas, under various conditions of steroidal and nonsteroidal treatment. Five mares each were treated daily for 21 d with vegetable shortening (controls), testosterone (T; 150 micrograms/kg of body weight, BW), dihydrotestosterone (DHT; 150 micrograms/kg BW), estradiol (E2; 35 micrograms/kg BW), progesterone (P4; 500 micrograms/kg BW), dexamethasone (DEX; 125 micrograms/kg BW) or charcoal-stripped equine follicular fluid (FF; 10 ml). Secretagogue injections (GnRH and thyrotropin releasing hormone, TRH, at 1 and 4 micrograms/kg of BW, respectively) were given one d prior to treatment and again after 15 d of treatment. Relative to controls, treatment with T, DHT and DEX reduced (P less than .05) LH secretion, storage and response to exogenous GnRH, whereas treatment with E2 increased (P less than .05) these same characteristics. Treatment with P4 reduced (P less than .05) only LH secretion. Treatment with T, DHT, E2 and DEX reduced (P less than .05) FSH secretion, whereas treatment with P4 increased (P less than .05) it and FF had no effect (P greater than .1). All treatments increased (P less than .05) FSH storage, whereas only treatment with T and DHT increased (P less than .05) the FSH response to exogenous GnRH. Other than a brief increase (P less than .05) in PRL secretion in mares treated with E2, secretion of PRL did not differ (P greater than .1) among groups. Only treatment with E2 increased (P less than .01) PRL storage, yet treatment with T or DHT (but not E2) increased (P less than .05) the PRL response to exogenous TRH. Content of GnRH in the body and pre-optic area of the hypothalamus was not affected (P greater than .1) by treatment, whereas treatment with T, E2 and DEX increased (P less than .1) GnRH content in the median eminence. For LH, secretion, storage and response to exogenous GnRH were all highly correlated (r greater than or equal to .77; P less than .01). For FSH, only storage and response to exogenous GnRH were related (r = .62; P less than .01). PRL characteristics were not significantly related to one another. Moreover, the amount of GnRH in the median eminence was not related (P greater than .1) to any LH or FSH characteristic.  相似文献

Five lighthorse mares were actively immunized against gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) conjugated to bovine serum albumin (BSA) to study the involvement of GnRH in luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion following ovariectomy (OVX) and after administration of testosterone propionate (TP). Five mares immunized against BSA served as controls. Immunizations were started on November 1, and OVX was performed in June (d 1). All mares were treated with TP from d 50 to 59 after OVX. On the day of OVX, concentrations of LH were lower (P less than .05) in GnRH-immunized mares than in BSA-immunized mares and were generally nondetectable; FSH concentrations were reduced (P less than .05) by 50% in GnRH-immunized mares relative to BSA-immunized mares. In contrast to BSA-immunized mares, plasma concentrations of LH or FSH did not increase after OVX in GnRH-immunized mares. The LH response to GnRH analog (less than .1% cross-reactive with GnRH antibodies) on d 50 was reduced (P less than .05) by 97% in GnRH-immunized mares relative to BSA-immunized mares, whereas the FSH response was similar for both groups. Treatment with TP for 10 d reduced (P less than .01) the LH response and increased (P less than .01) the FSH response to GnRH analog in BSA-immunized mares, but it had no effect (P greater than .1) on the response of either gonadotropin in GnRH-immunized mares.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Changes in numbers of ovarian follicles and coincident secretion of pituitary gonadotropins were characterized in suckled, anovulatory beef cows injected iv with 500 ng of luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) every 2 h for 48 or 96 h, starting 21.4 +/- .4 d after parturition. Two hours after the last injection, all cows were ovariectomized. Compared with saline-injected controls, LHRH had no effect on baseline or overall concentrations of luteinizing hormone (LH) in serum (P greater than .10), but increased (P less than .05) frequency and decreased (P less than .05) amplitude of LH pulses. Luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone increased (P less than .05) baseline concentration of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) in serum and frequency of FSH pulses, but decreased (P less than .05) pulse amplitude. Overall concentrations of FSH increased 20% (P less than .10). Exogenous LHRH did not affect diameter of the two largest follicles or numbers of follicles 1.0 to 3.9 mm, 4.0 to 7.9 mm or greater than or equal to 8.0 mm in diameter. These data suggest that increasing the frequency of episodic LH and FSH pulses in postpartum cattle by intermittent administration of LHRH did not increase mean circulating levels of LH, or alter size and numbers of ovarian follicles within the 96-h period of injections. Thus, induction of ovulation in anovulatory cows treated with low-dose injections of LHRH cannot be explained on the basis of an increase in mean concentrations of LH or numbers of antral follicles within 96 h after initiation of injections.  相似文献

Twelve long-term ovariectomized (OVX) pony mares were used to determine the effects of dexamethasone (DEX) or progesterone (PR) on concentrations of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) in daily blood samples and after administration of gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH). All mares were subsequently administered dihydrotestosterone (DHT) to determine if DEX or PR treatment altered the FSH or LH response to this androgen. Daily blood sampling was started on day 1. After a pretreatment injection of GnRH on day 5, four mares were administered DEX at 125 micrograms/kg of body weight (BW), four mares were administered PR at 500 micrograms/kg of BW and four mares were administered vehicle. Injections were given subcutaneously in vegetable shortening daily through day 14. After a second injection of GnRH on day 15, all mares were administered DHT in shortening at 150 micrograms/kg of BW. Injections of DHT were given daily through day 24. A final injection of GnRH was given on day 25. Treatment of mares with DEX 1) reduced (P less than .01) daily LH secretion and briefly increased (P less than .05) daily FSH secretion and 2) increased (P less than .01) the FSH response to exogenous GnRH. Treatment of mares with PR had no effect on daily LH secretion but increased (P less than .05) daily FSH secretion and increased (P less than .01) the FSH response to exogenous GnRH.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Fractionation and assay of chicken pituitary hormones   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The glycoprotein hormones of the chicken pituitary gland, follicle‐stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinising hormone (LH) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), have been fractionated and partially purified. Fractions were assayed for gonadotrophins using the testicular uptake of 32P in 1‐d‐old chicks and for thyro‐trophin by chick thyroidal 32P uptake.  相似文献

1. Pituitary glycoproteins from domestic ducks and fowls were fractionated to separate luteinising hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) activities using the same chromatographic steps. 2. Fractions were bioassayed for LH using the release of progesterone from fowl granulosa cells and for thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) by measuring the release of thyroxine in 3-d-old chicks. Follicle stimulating hormone activity was measured either in a cockerel-testes radioreceptor assay or by the release of oestrogen from cultured rat Sertoli cells. 3. Fractions containing predominantly FSH or LH activity were isolated from the fowl glycoproteins. Duck gonadotrophin did not occur in fractions corresponding to those containing fowl FSH. 4. Duck gonadotrophin was found in a fraction corresponding with the most highly purified fowl LH fraction. A duck LH fraction was found with little FSH activity for which there was no corresponding fowl LH fraction. 5. It is concluded that domestic fowl and duck gonadotrophins have different chromatographic properties. Further study is required to determine whether the purified duck gonadotrophin preparation comprises proteins with similar physico-chemical properties but with separate FSH and LH biological activities.  相似文献

Yorkshire boars were used to evaluate the influence of duration of photoperiod and hemicastration on growth and testicular and endocrine functions. At 10 wk of age, 5 hemicastrate (HC) and 5 intact (I) boars were assigned to either 8 or 16 hr of light daily until 6 mo of age. Body weights were recorded biweekly throughout the experiment. Venous cannulae were placed in all boars at 6 mo of age, and serum was collected at 30 min intervals from 0800 to 2000 hr. Gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) was infused at 2000 hr (50 micrograms) and at 2030 hr (250 micrograms), and samples of serum were collected until 2400 hr. The following day, all boars were castrated, and the weights and sperm content of the testes and epididymides were determined. At castration, all pigs were given implants containing testosterone. Two weeks later, pigs were again canulated, and serum was obtained at 15 min intervals for 2 hr. Growth of boars was not significantly affected by duration of photoperiod or number of testes. Duration of photoperiod did not affect weight or sperm content of testes or epididymides. Hemi-castrated boars had greater testicular (P less than .01) and capita-corpora (C-C) epididymal weights (P less than .05) and more testicular and C-C sperm (P less than .01) per testis. Neither average concentrations of luteinizing hormone (LH) nor number and amplitude of pulses of LH were affected by photoperiod treatment. However, HC boars had greater average concentrations of LH (P less than .05) than I boars (.71 +/- .05 vs .52 +/- .05 ng/ml). Hemicastrated boars in 16 hr light daily had greater concentrations of FSH in serum (P less than .05) than 8I, 8HC, and 16I boars. Intact and HC boars had similar concentrations of prolactin (PRL) and testosterone. Similarly, concentrations of PRL and testosterone were not affected by duration of photoperiod. Secretion of LH and testosterone after treatment with GnRH was not significantly affected by duration of photoperiod. In general, HC boars released more LH in response to GnRH treatment than I boars. Concentrations of LH were greater (P less than .05) in HC than I boars at .5, 1, 2, and 3 hr after GnRH and tended (P less than .10) to be elevated at 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 and 4 hr after GnRH. The FSH response to GnRH was greater (P less than .05) for 16HC than 8I, 8HC, or 16I boars.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 400 WORDS)  相似文献

The objectives of this study were (a) to assess the ovulatory response and embryo production of Hungarian Merino ewes after superovulation, (b) to investigate the factors influencing the efficiency of embryo transfer (ET) in Hungarian Merino ewes, (c) to compare the results of two ovarian stimulation protocols (PMSG and PMSG + FSH treatment) in Hungarian Merino ewes, and (d) to study how superovulation, laparoscopic insemination and surgical embryo retrieval (ER) affect the subsequent reproduction of Hungarian Merino donor females after an ET programme. There was no significant difference between the ovarian stimulation protocols in the ratio of donor ewes responding to superovulation nor in the average number of corpora lutea. However, the number of transferable embryos recovered per donor ewe was higher in the PMSG + FSH group. The proportion of transferable embryos, unfertilized oocytes and degenerated embryos did not differ between the treatment protocols. The total pregnancy rate was 53.4% (179/335). Neither the developmental stage of the embryo nor the number of transferred embryos affect the implantation of embryos. However, the increased number of transferred embryos positively influenced the pregnancy rate. No difference was found in the pregnancy rate between synchronised and non-synchronised groups of recipients. Thirty-six out of 45 donor ewes (80%) became pregnant within one year after the ET programme, indicating that ovarian stimulation and surgical ER did not affect adversely their reproduction.  相似文献
