Land Information Systems (LIS) provide a foundation for supporting decision‐making across a broad spectrum of natural resource applications: agronomic, environmental, engineering and public good. Typically, LIS constitute a computerized database repository holding geospatial components, ‘mapping unit’ geometry and related georeferenced materials such as satellite imagery, meteorological observations and predictions and scanned legacy mapping. Coupled with the geospatial data are associated property, semantic and metadata, representing a range of thematic properties and characteristics of the land and environment. This paper provides examples of recent developments of national and regional LIS, presenting applications for land resource capabilities and management. These focus on the ‘Land Information System’ (LandIS) for England and Wales, and the ‘World Soil Survey Archive and Catalogue’ (WOSSAC) and consider Agricultural Land Classification in Wales, an Irish land and soil information system, and a scheme to optimize land suitability for application of palm oil biofertilizers in Malaysia. Land Information Systems support purposeful environmental interpretations, drawing on soil and related thematic data, offering insight into land properties, capabilities and characteristics. The examples highlight the practical transferability and extensibility of technical and methodological approaches across geographical contexts. This assessment identifies the value of legacy‐based natural resource inventories that can be interoperated with other contemporary sources of information, such as satellite imagery. 相似文献

对土地利用变化过程的模拟和预测,需要地理信息系统(GIS)等相关技术的支撑。但目前GIS不能完整地表达地理实体的时态信息和时空关系,缺乏时空分析和动态模拟的能力。元胞自动机(Cellular Automata,简称CA)是一种自下而上的动态模拟建模框架,具有模拟地理复杂系统时空演化过程的能力。本文从元胞自动机的原理和特征入手,介绍了CA模型的构造方法,对CA模型应用于土地利用变化过程的动态模拟及预测的可操作性进行了探讨,并分析了其应用现状,存在的问题及前景。 相似文献

In this study, a finite element method based soil erosion and sediment yield model has been developed for overland and stream flow. The one dimensional conservation of mass of sediment flow equation has been solved based on kinematic wave flow approximation and Galerkin's based numerical solution. Various thematic maps required for the model are prepared using Geographical Information System (GIS). Land use/Land cover is extracted from remotely sensed data. The proposed finite element based distributed model has been used for the estimation of soil erosion and sediment outflow by discretizing the watershed into small grids. The soil erosion and sediment outflow model has been developed and applied to Khadakohol watershed located in Nashik district of Maharastra state, India. Part of the available data has been used for the model calibration and the other part for model validation. The simulated results of the watershed have been compared with the observed data and found to be satisfactory. 相似文献

This work is devoted to bridging the gap between large‐area, economically driven macromodels such as the Canadian Regional Agriculture Model (CRAM) and small‐area biophysically based process models used in environmental assessments through the development of a Land Use Allocation Model (LUAM). LUAM is designed to enable environmental assessments of economic scenarios to be conducted by allocating crop area changes predicted for large areas by CRAM to much smaller Soil Landscapes of Canada (SLC) polygons through an optimization method based on land capability, relative crop productivity and current land use. To develop the procedures, we used linear programming to optimize crop production for large areas under current commodity prices and land productivity ratings and then allocated the results to much smaller soil‐landscape polygons based on land capability. To assess the validity of our prototype LUAM, we compared the predicted crop areas with actual crop data from the Census of Agriculture using the method of cumulative residuals (MCR). We concluded that this version of the LUAM model can predict the location of land use to some extent, but requires further refinement. The potential for further development of LUAM using the Land Suitability Rating System (LSRS) is discussed. 相似文献

Abstract. Analysis of agro-climatic conditions forms the first stage of physical land evaluation. Monthly rainfall, potential evapotranspiration and air temperature data are analysed by the agro-climatic module of the Jamaica Physical Land Evaluation System (JAMPLES). Dependable rainfall (R75), the minimum amount exceeded in a given time period in 75% of the years, ranges from 537 to 5332 mm/yr at the 141 recording stations under review, and mean potential evapotranspiration (PET) ranges from 1120 to 1580 mm/yr. Annual R75/PET ratios range from 0.3–5.0 island-wide and regional differences permit delineation of four 'moisture availability' zones. These are subdivided with respect to the length of the 'dependable' growing periods (DGP) and dry periods. The DGP is less than 2 months in the southern coastal plains and 12 months long in the north-eastern part of the island. Mean daily air temperature decreases from 26 to 13°C with elevation, permitting the delineation of five temperature classes. Suitable regions for growing particular crops can be determined with the Jamaica Geographical Information System (JAMGIS), which includes a digitized version of the 1:250000 map of agro-climatic zones. More specific land suitability assessments, taking soil conditions and feasible land management practices into account, are prepared with the physical land evaluation module of JAMPLES. 相似文献
