The chemotherapeutic efficacy of diminazene aceturate (Berenil)--a standard veterinary trypanocide and pentamidine isethionate (PMI)--a human trypanocide was compared in dogs experimentally infected with Trypanosoma brucei brucei. Also, the activities of the drugs on some serum liver enzymes were evaluated before and after treatment to ascertain the relative safety of the drugs. Fifteen local dogs (mongrels) were used for the study. Three of the dogs were uninfected controls, and twelve were infected with a stock of T. brucei brucei. Three of the infected dogs were untreated controls, three were given diminazene aceturate (DA) at 7 mg/kg body weight intramuscularly (i/m), another three received pentamidine isethionate (PMI) at 4 mg/kg i/m on days 14, 17, 19, 27, 29, and 31 post infection (PI) and the remaining three dogs were also given same dose of PMI on days 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 and 26 PI. Both trypanocides effectively cleared the parasites from the blood of the infected treated dogs. However, the infection subsequently relapsed at day 42 PI in one of the dogs in the DA treated group which later died at day 70 PI. Relapse infection was not recorded with the PMI treated groups although two dogs died in the PMI treated group II (treatment at days 14, 17, 19, 27, 29, and 31 PI) without showing relapsed parasitaemia. The packed cell volume (PCV), red blood cell (RBC) count, and haemoglobin (Hb) level which decreased significantly following infection, were reversed by the trypanocidal treatment. The reversal in the red cell values was faster in the PMI treated groups than in the DA treated group. The serum alkaline phosphate (SAP), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels increased following infection and drug administration. The increase in the enzyme levels was greater in the DA treated groups than PMI treated groups. It was thus concluded that PMI given at 4 mg/kg i/m at days 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, and 26 PI constituted a safe and efficient trypanocide and exhibited a superior trypanocidal action than DA in T. brucei brucei infected dogs.  相似文献

In vitro studies with organ (oviduct and trachea) and chicken embryo kidney cell cultures were attempted to assess the pathogenicity of locally isolated infectious bronchitis virus (IBV-P:120) initially isolated from the oviduct of young chicks. In oviduct cultures infected with IBV, ciliary movements decreased as early as 24 hours postinoculation (PI), and on the 6th day ciliary movements ceased completely. Cytopathic changes were also noticed. Immunofluorescent antigen was detected from 1 to 6 days PI, the maximum being on the 3rd day. The characteristic microscopic changes in the oviduct explants were reduced by 24 hours PI and had completely ceased on the 5th day. Cytopathic effect and immunofluorescent antigen were present from 1 to 8 days PI, being maximum on the 5th day. Histological changes marked by loss of cilia, rounding of the epithelial cells, degeneration, and sloughing were detected from 2 to 8 days PI. Low-embryo-passaged (EP-7) IBV did not produce cytopathic effect on the chicken embryo kidney cell cultures. On the contrary, high-embryo-passaged (EP-14) virus produced cytopathic effect at the third tissue-culture-passage level.  相似文献

Of four Holstein-Friesian calves infected with 200,000 sporocysts of Sarcocystis bovicanis, three become ill and died on days 35, 55, and 59 of a 63-day experiment. No control calves became ill or died. Serum biochemicals and hematologic indicators of hemostasis from both groups were measured throughout the experiment. Creatine phosphokinase values for both groups increased markedly during acute infection. Lactic dehydrogenase and aspartate aminotransferase values were high in infected calves on days 25 to 35 and days 24 to 63, respectively, indicating injury of muscle, liver, or other tissues. Sorbitol dehydrogenase values were significantly higher for infected than for control calves on days 25 and 35, indicating liver injury. Serum bilirubin and blood urea nitrogen values were significantly increased in three anemic infected calves from day 25 or 26 to day 35, probably reflecting destruction of erythrocytes. The fourth infected calf was not anemic and had no hyperbilirubinemia and only minimal azotemia. Serum protein and albumin values decreased in infected calves on days 21 to 30 or 35, when, although hypoalbuminemia persisted, total protein concentration increased. Glucose, calcium, sodium, and chloride values decreased in infected calves slightly before onset of illness and remained low throughout the experiment. Potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus values did not differ between infected and control calves. Activated partial thromboplastin time and Russell's viper venom time were normal; prothrombin time was significantly higher from day 27 to day 49 in infected calves. This pattern was interpreted as evidence for acquired factor VII deficiency. Abnormal retraction of blood clots and enlarged platelets in blood smears, which indicate platelet dysfunction and increased platelet turnover, respectively, were seen on days 27 through 35 in anemic infected calves. Values for thrombin time (three calves) and fibrin degradation product concentration (one calf) increased just before death of the infected calves.  相似文献

Ten dogs were inoculated with Ehrlichia platys (E. platys) from an acutely infected dog. Two dogs were necropsied on each of days 7, 14, 21, 28, and 35 post-inoculation, and tissues were collected and either fixed in formalin or frozen for light microscopic examination of lesions or E. platys antigen localization in tissues. Serum antibody titers to E. platys and serum aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, and alkaline phosphatase activities were also determined. The significant light microscopic findings were lymph node follicular hyperplasia and crescent-shaped hemorrhages in the splenic periarteriolar lymphoid sheaths beginning day 7 post-inoculation. There was significant megakaryocyte hyperplasia of bone marrow on days 28 and 35 post-inoculation. Ehrlichia platys antigen was in macrophages at 14 days post-inoculation which corresponded to the initial decline in platelet numbers. Initial thrombocytopenia and splenic crescent-shaped hemorrhages were temporally related, however the degree of lesion development and prominence were not related to subsequent platelet numbers.  相似文献

Histological responses during experimental Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis infection in lambs were investigated in parotid lymph nodes for ten days following inoculation. Lambs were infected by the subcutaneous route into the right eyelid with a virulent strain of C. pseudotuberculosis. Multiple microscopic acute abscesses, predominantly infiltrated with polymorphonuclear (PMN) leucocytes, were seen in the right parotid lymph node on the 1st day post-inoculation (PI). This massive PMN infiltration coincided with a peripheral blood granulocytosis. On day 3 PI, an influx of histiocytes was observed, while the microabscesses became confluent. From day 3 to day 10 PI, these lesions became enlarged and transformed into typical pyogranulomas with a central necrosis and a peripheral mantle of mononuclear cells composed of macrophages, epithelioid cells and lymphocytes; these histological changes were associated with a bacterial dissemination limited to the superficial lymph nodes. A lymphoid hyperplasia with prominent germinal centers was observed in the draining lymph nodes from day 3 PI. These results illustrate the dual role of granulomatous lesions in chronic bacterial infections: although they limit bacterial dissemination, the granulomas do not impair the persistence of infectious organisms in the host, leading to focal tissue damage.  相似文献

试验通过对 1日龄 SPF雏鸡人工感染网状内皮组织增殖病病毒 ( REV) ,观察了免疫器官胸腺、法氏囊和脾脏 T、B淋巴细胞增殖反应的动态变化。结果表明 ,雏鸡感染 REV后胸腺 T淋巴细胞的增殖反应于7、2 1、4 2和 4 9日龄明显降低 ( P<0 .0 5) ,于感染后 1 4、2 8和 3 5日龄极显著减弱 ( P<0 .0 1 ) ;脾脏 T淋巴细胞的增殖反应分别于感染后 1 4~ 2 8d和 3 5~ 4 9d较对照组雏鸡明显或极明显降低 ( P<0 .0 5,P<0 .0 1 )。法氏囊和脾脏 B淋巴细胞增殖反应分别在感染后 7~ 4 9d和 1 4~ 4 9d极显著减弱 ( P<0 .0 1 )。免疫器官胸腺重量和脾脏重量与体重比值及体重分别于感染后 7~ 4 9、7~ 3 5、7~ 4 9d明显降低 ( P<0 .0 5,P<0 .0 1 )。说明SPF雏鸡感染 REV后 ,免疫器官 (胸腺、法氏囊和脾脏 )淋巴细胞发生变性坏死、数量减少和功能降低 ,机体的细胞免疫和体液免疫功能均发生明显降低或抑制  相似文献

The enteropathogenicity of avian reoviruses (ARVs), isolated from chickens affected with malabsorption syndrome (MAS) from The Netherlands and Germany was studied. In the first trial seven different ARVs isolated from MAS cases were inoculated in 1-day-old specific pathogenic free (SPF) white leghorns. The pathogenicity was compared with 2 ARVs isolated from cases of tenosynovitis, namely reference strain S1133 and a Dutch strain. Although a difference in the severity of the clinical disease was observed, all reoviruses could induce vacuolar degeneration and sloughing of the epithelium of the small intestine at day 2 post inoculation (PI) till day 7 PI. Two Dutch and one German ARV derived from MAS causing the most severe intestinal lesions at day 2 PI, were further studied in the second trial using SPF broilers. These reoviruses did not cause weight gain depression in the broilers although lesions in the small intestine were present from day 1 up to day 4 PI and were more severe than in the white leghorn chickens. In one of the inoculated groups apical denuded villi were already present at day 1 PI. At day 7 PI the small intestine of the infected broilers appeared to be normal. Reovirus antigen was detected in the cytoplasm of the enterocytes at the tip and middle section of the affected villi both in layers and in broilers. To study the role of intestinal CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells and macrophages/monocytes in the pathogenesis of ARV, the numbers of these cells of the jejunal villi of one infected and the control broiler groups were compared. CD4+ T-cells were detected in low numbers and only in the infected broiler group at day 14 PI. The numbers of CD8+ T-cells and macrophages/monocytes were significantly higher in the infected broiler group than in the control broiler group at day 7 and 14 PI and at day 7 PI respectively. Our study indicates that the reovirus alone cannot induce intestinal lesions as found in MAS chickens. Moreover, CD8+ T-cells may play a major role in the pathogenesis and or reovirus clearance in the small intestine.  相似文献

Six dogs were infected with Ehrlichia canis by intravenous injection of heavily infected DH82 cells. All dogs developed typical signs of canine monocytic ehrlichiosis. Using flow cytometric technology, platelet-bound IgG (PBIgG) were detected in 5 of the 6 dogs after experimental infection with E. canis over a period of 3-10 days post infection (PI). The first detection of PBIgG was made as early as day 3 PI in 2 out of 6 dogs, and on day 5 PI in 1 dog. On day 7 PI, PBIgG was detected in 2 dogs, and on day 10 PI in 3 out of 6 dogs. This is the first report documenting the presence of PBIgG following E. canis infection in dogs. This finding further supports the theory that the thrombocytopenia seen in canine monocytic ehrlichiosis has an immunological component and that exposure to an infectious agent, in this case the rickettsia E. canis, can trigger autoimmune mechanisms. Due to the heterogeneous appearance of PBIgG among the infected dogs it was concluded that other non-immunological mechanisms are probably also involved in the pathogenesis of the thrombocytopenia seen in canine monocytic ehrlichiosis.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate lipid peroxidation, protein oxidation and activity of enzymes that are indicators of oxidative stress in Rangelia vitalii infection in dogs. Animals were divided into two groups: negative control (n=5) and infected with R. vitalii (n=7). After inoculation, the parasitemia was estimated daily by microscopic examination of smears. Lipid peroxidation (TBARS) and advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP); and delta-aminolevulinate dehydratase (δ-ALA-D), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activities in blood were evaluated. The samples were collected at days 10 and 20 post-inoculation (PI). TBARS and AOPP levels were higher in the infected group in both analyzed periods (P<0.01). The δ-ALA-D activity was reduced in blood of dogs infected with R. vitalii on days 10 and 20 PI. SOD activity was significantly increased (P<0.01) in the blood of dogs infected with R. vitalii at days 10 and 20 PI, while CAT activity was significantly increased (P<0.01) only at day 20 PI when compared to non-infected animals. A positive correlation was observed between the degree of parasitemia and TBARS and AOPP levels and activity of antioxidant enzymes. The δ-ALA-D activity was negatively correlated with the degree of parasitemia. Based on the increased levels of TBARS, AOPP, SOD and CAT activities, and inhibition δ-ALA-D activity, we concluded that dogs experimentally infected with R. vitalii develop a state of redox unbalance and that these changes might be involved in the pathophysiology of disease.  相似文献

To determine potential mechanisms of differential disease expression in ruminants infected with bluetongue virus (BTV), clinically normal, BTV-seronegative, yearling sheep and cattle were infected subcutaneously with a standardized insect-source inoculum of BTV serotype 17 (BTV-17) (three infected and one contact control each) or animal adapted BTV serotype 10 (BTV-10) (three sheep only). BTV was isolated from peripheral blood cell components of infected sheep and cattle and all infected animals showed evidence of seroconversion by 14 days post infection (PI). Sheep infected with both serotypes of BTV developed pyrexia, oral lesions, and leukopenia which were most severe on days 7-8 PI. Analysis of peripheral blood mononuclear leukocytes with specific monoclonal antibodies and flow cytometry revealed panlymphocytopenia on day 7 PI. This response was further characterized by an increase in the CD4/CD8 ratio (greater than 3) resultant from a greater decrease in absolute numbers of circulating SBU-T8(CD8+) ("cytotoxic/suppressor") lymphocytes compared to SBU-T4 (CD4)+ ("helper") lymphocytes. SBU-T19+ lymphocytes were also decreased below baseline values on days 5-14 post infection. On day 14 PI there were increased CD8+ lymphocytes and decreased CD4/CD8 ratios (approximately 0.6) in these sheep. Clinical and hematologic changes in cattle infected with BTV-17 were minimal and consisted of mild pyrexia (rectal temperature 103 degrees F) on day 9 PI in two of three infected animals and mild leukopenia on several days PI in one animal. This leukopenia was the result of a pan T lymphocytopenia with CD4/CD8 ratios in the expected range (1-2). Similar to infected sheep, infected cattle did have a shift (decrease, approximately 0.8) in the peripheral CD4/CD8 ratio associated with an increase in circulating BoT8 (CD8)+ lymphocytes on day 14 post infection. Lymphocytes in the peripheral blood of all sheep and cattle infected with BTV-17 proliferated in vitro in response to purified BTV-17. These results confirm and extend those of previous studies that indicate species differences in the hematologic response to an equivalent BTV infection in domestic ruminants.  相似文献

Sporocysts of Sarcocystis falcatula obtained from experimentally infected Virginia opossums (Didelphis virginiana) were inoculated orally to 60 wild-caught Brown-headed Cowbirds (Molothrus ater). Another 30 Brown-headed Cowbirds were not challenged and served as uninfected controls. Two inoculated and one control cowbird were necropsied every 2 weeks and the pectoral and thigh muscles were examined grossly for cyst development. Stained histologic sections of pectoral muscle, thigh muscle, and lung were examined by light microscopy and presence, density, and size of sarcocysts were determined. Sarcocysts were present by 6 weeks post-inoculation (PI) and were still growing at 40 weeks PI. The sarcocysts from birds 40 weeks post-infection were infective to an opossum. The morphology of the sarcocyst wall by transmission electron microscopy substantiated the identification as S. falcatula. Lung sections were examined for the presence of schizonts, but were seen only at 2 weeks PI. This evaluation was complicated by the presence of unidentified microfilariae. These birds are migratory and the continued growth and development of muscle cysts would allow them to be a source of infection at both extremes of their geographic range, regardless of which end of the migration at which they were infected.  相似文献

To determine whether cats could be infected experimentally with Borrelia burgdorferi, 15 cats were inoculated with approximately 1,000 B burgdorferi. Seven cats were inoculated by the IV route, 2 by the oral route, 2 by the ocular route, and 4 by the oral-ocular route. Six control cats were inoculated with phosphate-buffered saline solution by the IV, oral, and ocular routes. Prior to the start of the study, all 21 cats were seronegative for B burgdorferi on the basis of results of the indirect fluorescent antibody (IFA) test, and their blood was B burgdorferi culture negative. All of the IV, orally, and ocularly inoculated cats developed IgG antibodies to B burgdorferi as detected by IFA testing. Of 4 oral-ocularly inoculated cats, 2 developed IFA-detectable antibodies and the remaining 2 cats developed low-titer response (1:128) on postinoculation (PI) day 10 only. All control cats remained seronegative. The organism was detected in blood smears from 2 of the IV inoculated cats on PI days 10 and 24 and from 2 oral-ocularly infected cats, 1 on PI days 17 and 24 and 1 on PI day 10. Spirochetes were not detected in the blood after PI day 24. The organism was isolated from tissues of only 1 cat (the lung of an ocularly inoculated cat necropsied at 7 months after inoculation). Spirochetes were not isolated from control cats. Neither clinical signs of infection nor gross or histologic abnormalities were found in any of the inoculated or control cats. Results indicate that cats are susceptible to infection with B burgdorferi, but clinically apparent disease may not be common.  相似文献

Leptospirosis is a systemic disease of humans and domestic animals, mainly dogs, cattle and swine. The course of human leptospirosis varies from mild to severe fatal forms and the most severe form of human leptospirosis is principally caused by Leptospira interrogans serovar icterohaemorrhagiae (L. icterohaemorrhagiae). The enzyme adenosine deaminase (ADA) plays an important role in the production and differentiation of blood cells. The aim of this study was to evaluate the activity of ADA in serum, erythrocytes and lymphocytes of rats infected with L. icterohaemorrhagiae, as compared with non-infected rats. Twenty-four adult rats, divided into two uniform groups (A and B) were used for the enzymatic assays. The animals in Group B were inoculated intraperitoneally with 2×10(8) leptospires/rat, and the rodents in Group A (control) were not-inoculated. Blood collection was performed on days 5 and 15 post-infection (PI) and the blood used to assess the ADA activity. The infection by L.icterohaemorrhagiae altered erythrocyte count, hemoglobin concentration and hematocrit, causing a decrease in all these parameters on day 15 PI. Lymphocytes decreased significantly on day 15 PI, and ADA activity in serum was inhibited in infected rats on days 5 and 15 PI and its activity in erythrocytes were increased on day 5 PI. On day 5 PI, we found an increase in ADA activity in erythrocytes of infected rats. No correlation was observed between hematocrit and erythrocyte ADA activity on days 5 and 15 PI. The ADA activity was inhibited in rats infected on day 15 PI. A positive correlation (r(2)=60) was also observed between the number of lymphocytes and ADA activity in lymphocytes on day 15 PI (P<0.05). In conclusion, our results showed that the ADA activity is altered in serum, lymphocytes and erythrocytes in experimental infection by L.icterohaemorrhagiae in rats, concomitantly with hematological parameters.  相似文献

Soluble antigens prepared from sporulated oocytes and second generation merozoites of E. tenella were used for enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to investigate antibody in sera of two breeds of chickens, i.e. commercial broilers and SPF single comb white leghorn layers, which were experimentally infected with E. tenella. In broilers inoculated with oocysts at 15 days of age, ELISA values increased rapidly after day 19 post inoculation (PI) and reached the maximum lebel on days 29 and 32 PI against both merozoite and oocyst antigen. The values against merozoite antigen were significantly higher than those against oocyst antigen. In SPF layers infected at 15 days of age, the values increased gradually after 7 days PI. There were no significant differences between values against two antigens. Generally, the values in broilers tended to be higher than those in SPF layers, especially against merozoite antigen. In broilers inoculated with oocysts at 1 and 15 days of age, ELISA values increased rapidly and reached the maximum level on days 11 and 20 post second inoculation (PSI) against merozoite and oocyst antigens respectively and then the values against merozoite antigen decreased. The values against merozoite antigen were markedly higher than those against oocyst antigen. In SPF layers inoculated twice, the values reached the highest on day 11 PSI as in the case of broiler; however, after that day, the values against both antigens decreased. In this study, the characteristics of porcine circovirus-2 (PCV2) replication (infectious virus titrations, distribution, and immunophenotyping of infected cells) in lymphoid organs were examined and related to the development of clinical signs and histological lesions in 26 piglets that had been inoculated with PCV2 either in utero or at 1 day of age. Piglets inoculated in utero at 92 or 104 gestational days (n = 12) were collected by Caesarean section at term and either sacrificed immediately or kept in isolators and allowed to live postnatally until 35 days postinoculation (PI). Caesarean-derived piglets inoculated at 1 day of age (n = 14) were sacrificed at 10, 21, 35, 42, and 49 days PI. Spleen and lymph nodes were collected for virologic and histopathological examinations. Clinical signs were not observed in any of the piglets. High virus titers (10(4.5-5.7) TCID50/g [TCID refers to tissue culture infectious dose]) were detected in 6 of the 26 piglets. Three of these 6 piglets were euthanized at 10 days PI, and infected cells of the monocyte-macrophage lineage (SWC3+, CD14+, and sialoadhesin [Sa]+ cells) and infected cells bearing lymphocyte markers (CD4+, CD8+, and immunoglobulin M+ cells) were identified by double-immunofluorescence labeling on serial cryostat sections. The other 3 piglets were euthanized at 21 and 35 days PI, and the majority of infected cells were SWC3+, CD14+, and Sa-. The absence of Sa in these infected cells, together with their localization in lymphocyte-dependent regions, suggests that they were infiltrating monocytic cells. Sialoadhesin is highly expressed in differentiated macrophages and not in peripheral blood mononuclear cells. In all 6 piglets with high virus titers, lymphocyte depletion and infiltration of monocytic cells were observed. In the remaining 20 piglets with virus titers less than 10(4.5) TCID50/g, the majority of infected cells were SWC3+, CD14+, and Sa+. In conclusion, it can be stated that high PCV2 titers in lymphoid organs may lead to the development of histological lesions similar to those observed in pigs with postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome without causing disease. Furthermore, in lymphoid organs with high virus titers, infection occurs mainly in infiltrating monocytic cells and to a limited extent in cells bearing lymphocyte markers.  相似文献

The osmotic fragility of red blood cells (RBC) from Eimeria adenoeides-infected turkey poults was compared with that of RBC from control and water-deprived poults. At different hypotonic NaCl concentrations, lysis of RBC from infected poults was 10 to 35% less on day 4 postinoculation (PI) and 50 to 65% less on day 7 PI than that of controls. Red blood cells of poults deprived of water for 3 days were also resistant to lysis; the percent lysis was roughly the same as that of RBC from infected poults at day 7 PI. Incubating control RBC in plasma from infected poults, in extracts of infected ceca, or at different pH levels did not increase their resistance to lysis, suggesting that neither a stabilizing factor in the plasma that had rapid effect on the RBC nor a transient shift in blood pH was involved. Mean RBC size differed little among infected, water-deprived, and control poults (14.0-14.2 X 8.0-8.1 X 3.8 microns). However, although 3.5% of RBC population of control and water-deprived poults were immature (mid to late polychromatic erythrocytes), only 0.4% of the RBC of infected poults were immature. The data suggest that reduced water intake as well as other factors may be involved in the decreased osmotic fragility of RBC from poults infected with E. adenoeides.  相似文献

In piglets infected with Strongyloides ransomi, the incorporation of 14C-L-amino acid into liver protein was increased on days 7 and 14 post inoculation (PI), while on day 21 PI it was distinctly below the initial values.There was an increase of reduced glutathione (GSH) on day 7 PI and a decrease on day 14 PI. At day 21 PI the values were still below those of the controls.The concentration of plasma Cl, Na, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Cu and Zn decreased from day 13 PI. The plasma levels of Na, K, Fe and chloride returned to normal on day 23 or 29 PI, but the other electrolytes had not regained their normal values at the end of the experiment (29 day PI).There was no change in electrolyte concentrations in heart, kidney and skeletal muscle. In the liver the concentrations of Ca, Fe and Cu increased. In the spleen the contents of Ca and Cu increased, whereas the fat content distinctly decreased.The enzymes GOT, GPT, LDH, LAP, ICDH, ALD, AP, SP and γ-GT were measured in blood plasma. Change of porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2) target cells during development from fetal to postnatal life in pigs was examined. PCV2 inoculation was performed in fetuses in utero at either 57, 75 or 92 gestational days and in piglets at 1 day of age. Twenty-one days after virus inoculation, PCV2-infected cells in the heart, lungs, liver, spleen and inguinal lymph nodes were localized and immuno-phenotyped by double-immunofluorescence labeling using different cell markers and PCV2-antibodies. During fetal life, viral antigens were detected in cardiomyocytes, hepatocytes and macrophages and infected cell numbers decreased with increasing fetal age at inoculation. The heart contained the highest number of infected cells and cardiomyocytes were the main target cell. Postnatally, macrophages were the only target cell type in different organs and infected cell numbers were similar to those of fetuses inoculated at 92 days of gestation. One piglet showed exceptionally high number of infected cells in different organs with values 13-513-fold higher compared to littermates. In this piglet, the majority of infected cells in lymphoid tissues could not be typed. This study reveals that PCV2 target cells change from cardiomyocytes, hepatocytes and macrophages during fetal life to only macrophages postnatally.  相似文献
