The ethanol extract and fractions from Coccoloba acrostichoides aerial parts were assayed for in vitro antimicrobial activity. The extract was active against the assayed bacteria while most of the fractions also inhibited fungal growth, especially the n-hexane and EtOAc fractions. The isolated beta-sitosterol and betulin were tested, being the last one active against Fusarium oxysporum.  相似文献

Activity-guided fractionation of the methanol extract of Ebenus pinnata aerial parts led to the isolation of ombuoside (1), kaempferol 3-O-rutinoside (2), rutin (3), catechin (4), and picein (5), along with beta-sitosterol and beta-sitosterol glucoside. The bioassay-guided fractionation of the dichloromethane extract of aerial parts of Plumbago zeylanica led to the isolation of beta-sitosterol, beta-sitosteryl-3beta-glucopyranoside, beta-sitosteryl-3beta-glucopyranoside-6'-O-palmitate (1), lupenone, lupeol acetate, plumbagin and trilinolein. Compound 1 showed cytotoxic activity against MCF7 and Bowes cancer cell lines (IC50 113 microM and 152 microM, respectively), beta-sitosterol inhibited Bowes cell growth (IC50 36.5 microM) and plumbagin was cytotoxic against MCF7 and Bowes cells (IC50 1.28 microM and 1.39 microM, respectively).  相似文献

The crude ethanol extract from the leaves of Zanthoxylum liebmannianum exhibited inhibitory effect on the reproduction of trophozoites of Entamoeba histolytica (IC(50)=3.48 microg/ml) and Giardia lamblia (IC(50)=58.00 microg/ml). From this extract, asarinin, hyperin, beta-sitosterol, and beta-sitosterol glucoside were isolated. Among them, asarinin was the most active with IC(50) values of 19.86 microg/ml for E. histolytica and 35.45 microg/ml for G. lamblia. The remaining compounds showed moderate activity against both parasites.  相似文献

In previous studies, the ethanol extract of cactus (Opuntia ficus-indica) showed potent anti-inflammatory action. Its structure has been elucidated with the help of one- and two-dimensional NMR and NOE studies. The cytotoxic effects of seven constituents isolated from Duguetia glabriuscula were evaluated against Hep2 human larynx carcinoma cells. The cytotoxicity exhibited by beta-sitosterol was as strong as that of cis-platin. (+)-Alloaromadendran-10,14beta-diol caused inhibition of cellular growth with IC50 values lower than 25 microg/ml, a feature that was considered as revealing significant activity. Polycarpol showed borderline cytotoxicity, whereas the other compounds were inactive.  相似文献

Fractions prepared from the methanol extract of Buchholzia coriacea stem bark exhibited a high concentration-dependent antibacterial and antifungal activity compared to the standard antibiotics, ampicillin and tioconazole. In the brine shrimp lethality (BSL) assay, the methanol extract was found to be non-toxic with an LC(50) of 1031 microg/ml. The two main compounds present in the most active fraction were isolated and identified as lupeol and beta-sitosterol.  相似文献

A new stilbene, gnetifolin M (1), was isolated from the lianas of Gnetum montanum, together with seven known compounds, resveratrol (2), gnetol (3), 4', 5,7-trihydroxy-3'-methoxyflavone, beta-sitosterol, daucosterol, ursolic acid, and tetracosanoic acid. The structure of 1 was determined to be 2-(5'-methoxy-3'-hydroxyphenyl)-4-hydroxybenzofuran on the basis of spectroscopic evidence.  相似文献

Diacronema sp. was cultured and its sterols were separated by column chromatography on silica gel. The new sterol 24-ethyl-4alpha-methyl-cholestane-3,20-diol (1) was characterised by NMR and MS spectrometry, as well as (22E)-24-ethyl-4alpha-methyl-5alpha-cholest-22-en-3beta-ol (2) and beta-sitosterol, the major components of the sterol fractions. Neither the biosynthetic origin of the new dihydroxysterol nor its role in the biochemistry of Diacronema is known.  相似文献

Neutral lipids were analyzed in stem wood of a 7-year-old clone and in five 35-70-year-old mature trees of silver birch (Betula pendula Roth). In young trees and in mature wood of old trees, the free fatty acid fraction comprised less than 5% of the concentration of triacylglycerols (TG). The concentration of free linoleic acid was lowest in March when the young trees were dormant and highest during midsummer and September. In mature trees, the TG concentration increased toward the pith, indicating that living parenchyma cells close to the pith have a large TG storage capacity. The TG concentration (mean 0.51 +/- 0.02% of wood dry mass) remained constant throughout the year in young trees, whereas the concentration of beta-sitosterol, the dominant free sterol (mean 82.5 +/- 0.4% of total free sterols), decreased during spring and early summer when the temperature gradually increased, and increased during autumn when the trees became dormant. In young trees, we detected a seasonal interconversion between the free and esterified forms of beta-sitosterol and campesterol, and within the steryl ester fraction between squalene and betulaprenol-7. The concentration of esterified sterols/isoprenoids was exceptionally high, especially in the inner regions of mature stem wood (mean 0.6 +/- 0.03% of wood dry mass). No heartwood formation was detected.  相似文献

Our study focuses on predicting the ultimate short-term load carrying capacity of timber-to-timber connections with dowel-type fasteners. The wide range of possible configurations in practice makes the resolution of these values by tests unrealistic. Moreover, different current regulations do not consider some specific failure mechanisms. In many countries, the reduction of resistance involved by this phenomenon is taken into account by considering an effective number of dowels (nef) smaller than the actual number of dowels (n) in the connection. However, these different regulations disagree on the values of nef and on other points (spacing, partial coefficient of security, formulas). These discrepancies in design rules invite the fundamental research on this topic and, therefore, new methods are sought in order to estimate the load carrying capacities of the connections. In the light of these, our approach consists of predicting the load carrying capacity with the neural network numerical tool. The results obtained by this analysis tool are satisfactory, although the model remains complex. Subsequently, we focus on the simplification of this numerical model with classical regression techniques in order to implement it in a design code.  相似文献

Ophiostoma species were isolated from bark beetles and Abies mariesii, A. veitchii and A. homolepis attacked by the beetles in Nikko, Tochigi, central Honshu, Japan. One to two Ophiostoma species were frequently isolated from each species of bark beetle. Ophiostoma subalpinum was the most common associate of Cryphalus montanus. Ophiostoma sp. B as well as O. subalpinum was a common fungus associated with Polygraphus proximus. Ophiostoma europhioides was isolated from Dryocoetes hectographus and D. autographus as one of the common associates. Ophiostoma sp. J and Ophiostoma sp. S were frequently isolated from D. autographus and D. striatus, respectively. These fungi seem to have specific relationships with particular bark beetles. Ophiostoma sp. B, Ophiostoma sp. J and Ophiostoma sp. S have unique morphological characteristics and appear to be new species. Five trees of A. veitchii, approximately 43 years old, were inoculated with five Ophiostoma species to assess the relative virulence of the fungi. Ophiostoma subalpinum, Ophiostoma sp. B, and O. europhioides had relatively higher virulence than the other species studied.  相似文献
