Abstract In 1993 and 1994, 40 cows in early lactation in early spring were assigned randomly to four feeding treatments. One group of cows was kept indoors with access to grass silage ad libitum, plus 6 kg of concentrate daily. The other three groups had access to grass pasture (5–6 h per day in 1993 and 11–12 h per day in 1994) plus grass silage similar to that fed to the previous group while indoors plus 6, 4 or 2 kg of concentrate daily. The average daily allocations of herbage (> 3·5 cm) were 8·5 and 14·0 kg DM cow?1 day?1 in 1993 and 1994 respectively. The treatments were applied for 8 weeks (26 February to 23 April) in 1993, and 7 weeks (11 March to 29 April) in 1994. Cows with access to pasture had lower (P < 0·001) silage dry‐matter (DM) intakes and higher (P < 0·001) total forage DM intakes in both years than those kept indoors. This resulted in significantly higher yields of milk, fat, protein and lactose. Similarly, milk protein concentration was higher (P < 0·05 in 1993; P < 0·001 in 1994). There was a significant linear increase in total DM intake in both years with increased concentrate supplementation. In 1993, there was a linear increase in milk (P < 0·01), fat (P < 0·01), protein (P < 0·001) and lactose (P < 0·01) yields with increased concentrate supplementation. In 1994, only milk protein yield (P < 0·05) was increased. Concentrate supplementation had no effect on milk composition or liveweight change. Cows with access to grazed grass had higher liveweight gains (P < 0·05) than those kept indoors in both years. In 1993, increasing the energy intake increased the processing qualities of the milk produced. The results showed that access to grass pasture resulted in higher milk production, in reduced silage requirement and in reduced level of concentrate supplementation required for a given level of milk production with spring‐calving cows in early lactation compared with those kept indoors.  相似文献

Twenty-four Holstein dairy cows were used to evaluate the singular and combined effects of different level of crude protein and monensin treatments during the early lactation on digestion and milk yield of dairy cows. The experiment was designed as completely randomized with a 3x2 factorial arrangement of treatments. The factors were three Concentrations of CP supplement (19.5, 21.4 and 23.4% of dry matter) and two levels of monensin (0 and 350 mg per cow per day). This experiment consist of three periods and each period was 3 week in length. Monensin did not affect DMI, milk yield, lactose and SNF but it reduced milk fat and protein percentage. Monensin premix significantly decreased rumen ammonia but rumen pH and microbial protein synthesis was not affected by monensin treatment. Although, Monensin treatment increased apparent digestibility of DM, NDF, ADF, CP, but they were not significantly. Increasing dietary CP, improved milk and protein production, but did not alter the other components of milk. Digestibility of NDF, ADF, CP were improved by increasing dietary CP. Increasing diet CP from 19.5 to 21.4% did not significantly increase ruminal ammonia, but increasing to 23.4% have significant effect on it. There was a linear relationship between level of crud protein in the diet and urine volume excretion. Microbial protein synthesis was affected by increasing CP level; on this way maximum protein synthesis was achieved in 21.4% CP.  相似文献

An experiment was carried out to examine the effect of supplementation on the performance of spring-calving dairy cows grazing swards of differing perennial ryegrass and white clover content. Seventeen heifers and sixty-four Friesian cows in their third to ninth week of lactation were turned out onto one of three pastures with different proportions of perennial ryegrass and white clover. Nine animals on each pasture received either 0, 2 or 4 kg d−1 of a concentrate with a crude protein concentration of 180 g kg−1 dry matter (DM). Prior to grazing, swards contained proportionately 0·01 (L), 0·15 (M) and 0·20 (H) of total DM as clover. During the experiment, grazing pressures were adjusted by movement of buffer fences to maintain compressed sward heights at 6 cm. Samples taken 26 and 68 d after the start of grazing showed little change in the proportion of clover in sward L (< 0·01 and 0·02 respectively), but convergence in the proportion of clover in swards M and L (0·08-0·16 and 0·10-0·15 respectively). Mean daily yields of milk, fat, protein and lactose increased significantly with increased clover content and, even without supplementation, daily yields were 25·4, 0·98, 0·73 and 1·09 kg respectively on sward H. Of the milk components, only protein was significantly increased by increasing sward clover content. The response in milk yield to supplementation was greater on sward L than on swards M and H.  相似文献

Fifty-four lactaling dairy cows were grazed for 24 weeks on pasture receiving 0 (Nil), 32 (Low) or 64 (High) kg Na ha-1 yr-1 and with (+) or without (-) 100g NaHCO3 buffer included in a maize gluten concentrate supplement. Cattle grazed the Na-fertilized pasture to a lower height, particularly in the High treatment. Cows grazing pasture with Na fertilizer produced more milk, and milk fat concentration increased in direct proportion to amount of Na fertilizer applied and with NaHCO3. This increase was greatest in early season. Milk protein concentration was not affected by Na fertilizer application or NaHCO3 buffer addition. Milk lactose concentration was increased by Na fertilizer application but not by NaHCO3 supplementation. Cows in the Na-applied treatments gained more live weight but there was no effect of treatment on condition score change. Grazing time and drinking frequency increased linearly with increasing pasture Na. Ruminating time and biting rate were similar at the Low and High treatments and greater than the Nil treatment. NaHCO3, supplementation increased drinking frequency and decreased the rate of concentrate intake. Cow reproductive performance was not significantly affected by Na fertilizer application. During the residual period, cows that had previously grazed the Na-fertilized pasture had reduced milk fat and protein contents.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of feeding a dry fat source to Shami does on their milk production and composition, body weight change, weaning weight and average daily gain of their suckling kids. For this purpose we used thirty two multiparous Shami does weighing (47.43 +/- 1.38 kg) and randomly assigned into four dietary treatments in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) set. Does were housed with their suckling kids and fed one of four isonitrogenous total mixed rations containing 0, 2, 3 or 4% of dry fat. Milk production and milk fat content were higher (p < 0.05) for fat treated does, with no differences between 2% fat level and control group while there was no differences among groups in milk protein content. Final body weight of does was not affected by fat supplementation while body weight changes were higher (p < or = 0.05) for fat treated groups. Weaning weight and average daily gain of suckling kids were increased (p < or = 0.05) for fat treated does, with no differences between 2% fat level and control group. It is concluded that supplemental fat to does rations at 3 or 4% during their postpartum period can improve their milk production and milk fat content, as well as body weight change of does, weaning weight and average daily gain of suckling kids, without any effect on their milk protein content.  相似文献

This study investigated the effects of chitosan oligosaccharide (COS) on glucose metabolism and hepatic steatosis in a high-fat (HF) diet/streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat model. Male Wistar rats were divided into: (1) normal control (NC group), (2) HF diet (HF group), (3) streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes with HF diet (DF group), and DF group supplemented with (4) 0.5% COS (D0.5F group), (5) 1% COS (D1F group), and (6) 5% COS (D5F group) for 4 weeks. COS supplementation significantly decreased the plasma glucose, BUN, creatinine, uric acid, triglyceride (TG), and total cholesterol (TC) levels, and hepatic glucose-6-phosphatase activity, and significantly increased hepatic hexokinase activity and glycogen content in diabetic rats; but the increased hepatic TG and TC levels could not be significantly decreased by COS supplementation. Supplementation of COS increased superoxide dismutase activity and decreased lipid peroxidation products in the diabetic rat livers. COS supplementation significantly increased phosphorylated AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) protein expression, and attenuated protein expression of hepatic phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) and phosphorylated p38 and renal sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) in diabetic rats. These results suggest that COS may possess a potential for alleviating abnormal glucose metabolism in diabetic rats through the inhibition of hepatic gluconeogenesis and lipid peroxidation and renal SGLT2 expression.  相似文献

A 3-year experiment on milk production systems was set up in 1989 to investigate the effect of calving date and stocking rate on the performance of spring-calving dairy cows. An early-calving herd (System A) with a mean calving date of 23 January and stocked at 2·9 cows per hectare was compared with two later calving herds (Systems B and C) with a mean calving date of 15 March. System B had a similar stocking rate to System A (2·9 cows ha−1), while System C had a stocking rate of 2·6 cows ha−1. The average lactation yields (kg) over the three years were as follows: 5872, 5444 and 5584 (milk)210, 204 and 215 (fat), 187, 184 and 189 (protein) and 261, 245 and 250 (lactose) for Systems A, B and C respectively. The average milk composition (gkg−1) was: 36·0, 37·6 and 38·7 (fat), 31·9, 33·7 and 33·8 (protein) and 44·5. 45·1 and 44·8 (lactose) for Systems A, B and C respectively. Delaying calving date to coincide with the beginning of the grass-growing season (System B compared with System A) reduced milk yield per cow significantly (P < 0·05) in all three years of the experiment. However, fat and protein concentration were increased, resulting in no significant difference in the yield of fat or protein per cow. Reducing the stocking rate from 2·9 cows per hectare to 2·6 cows per hectare for cows calving in mid-March (System C compared with System B) increased milk yield per cow significantly (P < 0·05) in only one of the three years (1990). An experiment was undertaken to examine the effect of supplement type on herbage intake, total dry matter (DM) intake, animal performance and nitrogen utilization with grazing dairy cows. Twenty‐four spring‐calving dairy cows were allocated to one of six treatments in a partially balanced changeover design with five periods of four weeks. The six treatments were no supplement (NONE), or supplementation with either grass silage (GS), whole‐crop wheat silage (WS), maize silage (MS), rapidly degradable concentrate (RC) or slowly degradable concentrate (SC). Cows were rotationally grazed with a mean herbage allowance of 20·5 kg DM per cow per day, measured above 4 cm. Forage supplements were offered for approximately 2 h immediately after each morning milking, with cows on NONE, RC and SC treatments returning to the grazing paddock immediately after milking. Cows on treatment MS had a significantly higher supplement DM intake than the other treatments but a significantly lower grass DM intake than the other treatments, resulting in no significant difference in total DM intake when compared with cows on treatments WS, RC and SC. Concentrate type had no significant effect on herbage intake, milk yield, milk composition or yield of milk components. The yield of milk fat and milk protein was significantly higher on treatments MS, RC and SC compared with treatments NONE, GS and WS. The results indicate that despite a relatively high substitution rate, maize silage can be a useful supplement for the grazing dairy cow.  相似文献

In a two-year study, set stocked dairy cows were offered a mixture of brewers grains and sodium hydroxide-treated straw (1:1 on a dry matter basis)for 1 h daily. The experiments lasted for 20 and 19 weeks, mean supplementary (buffer) feed dry matter intakes were 3·0 and 3·4 kg d-1 and mean sward heights (rising plate meter) were 4·9 and 4·7 cm in 1988 and 1989 respectively. The control group received no supplementation. The buffer feed significantly increased milk yield (26·3 vs 24·6 kg d-1 and 28·6 vs 26·3kg d-1 in 1988 and 1989 respectively), increased liveweight gain (0·27 vs 0·13 kg d-1 and 0·27 vs 0·17 kg d-1) and increased effective stocking rate (5·17 vs 4·69 cows ha-1and 5·10 vs 4·53 cows ha-1). There were no significant effects on milk composition. The greatest responses in milk production were found in the late grazing season.  相似文献

The potential using of Acute Phase Proteins (APPs) in the assessment of mammary gland health was studied by examining the levels of Fibrinogen (Fb) and Ceruloplasmin (Cp) in plasma and milk from dairy cows with different grades of mastitis. Plasma samples were taken from jugular vein and milk samples were collected from quarters of cows with subclinical and clinical mastitis, as well as healthy controls. California Mastitis Test (CMT) were performed on each udder quarter of cows for detection of CMT2+ and CMT3+ quarters. CMT (0) and culture negative cases were considered healthy cows. Clinical mastitis, was graded as mild (clots in milk) or moderate (clots in milk and visible signs of inflammation in the mammary gland/s). The concentrations of Fb in the plasma of the cows with subclinical and clinical mastitis were higher than in the plasma of the healthy cows (p<0.01). There was no significant difference in plasma concentration of Cp between healthy and subclinical groups (p>0.05), but differences between clinical and healthy groups were significant (p<0.05). The concentrations of Fb and Cp in the milk of the cows with subclinical and clinical mastitis were higher than in the milk of the healthy cows (p<0.01). The results indicated that measurement of Fb in plasma and milk and Cp only in milk might be suitable for early diagnosis of mastitis in dairy cows.  相似文献

Two experiments, using intravenous infusion of nutrients, were carried out with the aim of separating milk production responses due to the provision of amino acids as precursors of milk protein synthesis from those due to the provision of amino acids as glucose precursors. Diets were based on grass silage of restricted fermentation and barley‐based supplements because it has been suggested that these diets might provide insufficient glucose precursors to meet the needs of lactose synthesis. The silages used in the experiments were of similar lactic acid contents [62 and 63 g kg–1 dry matter (DM)] but of different water‐soluble carbohydrate (WSC) contents (206 and 20 g kg–1 DM in Experiments 1 and 2 respectively). In Experiment 1, four dairy cows were given the following treatments in a 4 × 4 Latin square arrangement with periods of 10 d: (1) basal diet (Basal), (2) Basal plus jugular infusion of 182 g d–1 of amino acids simulating casein (TAA), (3) Basal plus 101 g d–1 of essential amino acids (EAA), being the essential amino acid component of the TAA treatment and (4) Basal plus 101 g d–1 of essential amino acids plus 50 g d–1 of glucose (EAA + G), being the glucose equivalent of the non‐essential amino acid component of treatment TAA. All infusions increased (P < 0·05) the concentration of milk protein compared with Basal but only for TAA was the increase in the yield of milk protein statistically significant (P < 0·05), amounting to 68 g d–1. Both TAA and EAA reduced (P < 0·05) the concentration of milk fat. There was no difference between EAA and EAA + G treatments. In Experiment 2, five dairy cows were given the following treatments in a 5 × 5 Latin square design with periods of 7 d: (1) basal diet (Basal), (2) Basal plus 182 g d–1 of amino acids simulating casein (TAA), (3) Basal plus 182 g d–1 of non‐essential amino acids as in casein (NEAA), (4) Basal plus 100 g d–1 of glucose (G100) and (5) basal plus 230 g d–1 of glucose (G230). G100 supplied the glucose equivalent of NEAA whereas G230 supplied the caloric equivalent of NEAA. Again, only for TAA was the increase in yield of milk protein statistically significant (P < 0·05), amounting to 83 g d–1. Neither glucose treatment caused any statistically significant (P > 0·05) effect on the yield of milk protein nor the yield of milk lactose. It is concluded that, in both experiments, the primary nutritional limitation on milk protein output was the supply of amino acids as precursors of milk protein, there being no evidence to support a primary limitation due to glucose supply.  相似文献

Current recommendations for the intake of sodium of lactating dairy cows are related to milk yield. A study was conducted to compare the responses of cows of high and low milk production potential to the application of sodium fertilizer to grazed perennial ryegrass pasture. The application of sodium fertilizer increased the intake of herbage dry matter (DM), the time that cows spent grazing and the biting rate. It also increased the concentration of sodium, magnesium and calcium in herbage and decreased the concentration of potassium. Applying sodium fertilizer increased milk yield and milk fat concentration and decreased somatic cell count in the milk of cows of low-production potential only, whereas it increased persistency of milk production in the cows of high-production potential. The concentration of lactose in milk increased in both groups after the application of sodium fertilizer. It is concluded that the optimum dietary sodium concentration for grazing cows does not increase with milk yield, and that most immediate advantage will be gained from increasing the sodium concentration in herbage for low-yielding cows.  相似文献

An experiment designed to compare the nutritive values for milk production of dried grasses harvested in spring and autumn is described. The DM digestibility of the spring- and autumn-dried grass was 67±7 and 66±0%, respectively. Both dried grasses were fed at two levels, 0±4 and 0±5 kg/ kg milk (4 and 5 Ib/10 Ib milk), to lactating cows in a randomized-block design experiment using 24 animals. Each animal was also given 2±5 kg hay/day (5±5 Ib) and in addition sufficient of the dried grass under investigation to meet maintenance requirements. Milk yield, milk energy output, live-weight gain and the solids not fat (SNF) and protein contents of the milk increased with feeding level. Season of dried grass harvesting had no effect on milk yield, milk energy output or live-weight change. The spring-harvested dried grass resulted in a significantly higher milk SNF content than the autumn-dried grass and also tended to reduce milk butterfat level.  相似文献

Two systems of grazing management involving preferential treatment of high- yielding dairy cows were compared with a grazing system in which both high- and low-yielders received uniform treatment. Cows were rotationally grazed across I-day paddocks without concentrate supplementation from 23 April to 8 October 1985, with a mean stocking rate over the season of 5-4 cows ha?1. Preferential treatment of high-yielding cows was achieved either by using a leader/follower approach (LF) with high-yielding cows in the leader group, or by preferential forage feeding (PFF) where high-yielding cows were allowed access to grass silage for 1 -5 h daily and grazed alongside low-yielders. Control (C) cows grazed together as a single group. The high grazing stocking rates used on all three treatments resulted in good grass utilization with residual sward heights, assessed by a rising-plate sward stick, of 45, 50 and 48 mm for the LF, PFF and C treatments respectively. Animal performance data for the LF, PFF and C treatments respectively were: milk yield (kg d?1) 15middot;1, 15middot;6 and 14middot;7 (s.e. 0middot;78); milk fat yield (g d?1) 598, 606 and 567 (s.e. 34); milk protein yield (g d?1) 500, 519 and 480 (s.e. 31); and live weight gain (kg d?1) 0middot;12, 0middot;23 and 0middot;25 (s.e. 0·05). These results indicate that leader/follower grazing had little overall effect on animal performance when high grazing severity was imposed, with the improvement in animal performance of high-yielding cows in the leader group being offset by the reduced performance of the follower group. Buffer-feeding of high-yielding, rotationally-grazed cows with high-quality grass silage had little effect on animal performance and resulted in a decrease in the efficiency of grassland utilization. Silage appeared to substitute for herbage, with a reduction in herbage DM intake of 0middot;55 kg per kg silage DM consumed.  相似文献

Maize silages made in October were fed to forty-three autumn-calving cows during a 20-week winter feeding trial. The control silage received no additive whereas a non-protein nitrogen (NPN) additive was applied to the other silage at harvest time. The four experimental feeding treatments were: A, maize silage + 6 kg d?1 barley; B, maize silage with NPN + 6 kg d?1 barley; C, maize silage + 5 kg d?1’barley + 1 kg d?1 extracted decorticated groundnut cake; D, maize silage with NPN. The mean daily milk yields of cows on the treatments were 14.7, 15.1, 15.3 and 15.0 kg respectively. All cows received maize silage ad libitum. There were no significant differences in milk yield but the milk produced by the cows on treatment D had significantly lower concentrations of milk fat, protein and solids-not-fat when compared to the other three treatments. The cows on treatment D had a negative liveweight change which was significantly different (P < 0.05) from those of the cows on treatments B and C.  相似文献

An experiment was conducted to examine the response of herbage grazed by dairy cows to sodium fertilizer applied with or without sulphur fertilizer. The residual effects of applying sodium fertilizer in the previous year were also evaluated. The application of sodium or sulphur fertilizer did not affect herbage growth or height, but the application of sulphur fertilizer increased crude protein content of herbage. The increase in sodium content with application of sodium fertilizer was small, but was greater when sodium fertilizer had also been applied in the previous year. Herbage potassium was increased when sodium fertilizer was applied in the year of the experiment, but only if sodium had not been applied in the previous year. Application of sulphur fertilizer increased herbage sulphur content and reduced the contents of boron, chromium, molybdenum and nickel. Cows grazing pasture that had received sodium fertilizer had increased milk yields and the content of lactose in milk, whereas those grazing pasture that had received sulphur fertilizer application had reduced milk yields and the content of milk fat.  相似文献

Sixteen Friesian cows were given four dietary treatments in a 4 × 4 Latin square experiment with a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement of treatments. The diets consisted of grass silage ad libitum plus 2 kg of hay per day and two types of concentrates of either barley or a mixture of barley, oats and fibrous by-products [200,200 and 600 g per kg dry matter (DM) respectively], with two protein contents. For the low-protein diets, barley- (B) and fibre-based (F) concentrates were given without protein supplements, while for high-protein diets 1 kg of both concentrates was replaced with fish-meal (FM). The concentrates were given at the rate of 9kgd-1 for the cows (n= 12) and 8kg d-1 for the heifers (n= 4). The cows given the F diets tended (P < 0·10) to have a greater silage dry matter intake and produced 1·5kg d-1 more (P < 0·05) milk with a lower (P < 0·05) protein content than those given the B diets. Increasing dietary crude protein concentration with FM had no effect on feed intake but resulted in significant increases in milk yield (P < 0·01), milk protein content (P < 0·05) and yields of milk constituents. The response in milk yield to FM tended to be greater with barley than with fibrous supplement (+2·5 vs+ 1·5kgd-1). Compared with B diets, the greatest relative increase occurred in lactose yield (0·07) when the corresponding F diets were fed, while FM produced the greatest response in protein yield (0·12). The calculation of the utilization of metabolizable energy (ME) for milk production showed that both the feeding of a concentrate consisting of different carbohydrate sources and inclusion of fish meal improved the utilization of ME, the effects being partially additive. It is concluded that the nutrient supply to the cow's tissues can be modified by the source of carbohydrate and protein supplementation as indicated by different responses in the yield of milk constituents. The production response to protein supplementation may depend on the source of carbohydrate in the concentrate.  相似文献

In three experiments the effects of restricting the silage ration of dairy cows and of offering alternative forages as buffer feeds were investigated.
In the first experiment of changeover design with 3-week periods, restricting the intake of low-quality silage to 0.62 of ad libitum had no significant effect on milk yield in spite of the large energy deficit. Offering high-quality hay as a buffer feed increased total DM intake and milk production of cows receiving either restricted or ad libitum silage.
In the second experiment of similar design, restricting the DM intake of high-quality silage to 0·58 of ad libitum significantly reduced milk yield and was associated with a large negative energy balance. Offering straw or ammonia-treated straw with the restricted silage diet did not restore milk production to the level achieved with ad libitum silage but these supplements slightly reduced the energy deficit of the cows. In the third experiment of continuous design lasting 7 weeks, restricting the silage ration to 0.85 of ad libitum had no significant effect on milk production. Offering a strawmix based on straw, barley, molasses and soya with the restricted silage ration restored total DM intake to the ad libitum silage level.
In all three experiments milk protein content was reduced by restricting the silage ration and partially restored by offering alternative forages. There were no significant effects on milk fat content and milk lactose content was only reduced by the severest restriction in Experiment 2. It is concluded that short-term minor restrictions of silage intake can be partly sustained by body fat mobilization but more severe restrictions will result in loss of milk yield. Good-quality hay and a strawmix were of benefit in restoring DM and metabolizable energy intakes, whereas straw and ammonia-treated straw were of little value.  相似文献

Two grass silages made from perennial ryegrass, and with D-values of 0·216 and 0·255, were offered ad libitum to 18 Ayrshire cows in two feeding experiments. On the control treatment the silages were supplemented with soybean meal only, and on the other two treatments with equal weights of DM from either barley or dried molassed sugar-beet pulp plus the same weight of soya as on the control treatment. The daily intakes of silage DM were not significantly different on the barley and beet-pulp treatments, and, on average, the intake of silage DM was reduced by 0·24 and 0·20 kg by feeding 1 kg barley and beet pulp DM respectively.
The daily milk yields were not significantly different on the barley and beet-pulp treatments with mean values of 19·2 and 19·2 kg per cow respectively compared with 17·2 kg on the control treatment. On the barley and beet-pulp treatments the fat, SNF, CP and lactose concentrations in the milk and the live weights of the cows were not significantly different. It is concluded that the barley and beet pulp had similar feeding values and replacement rates when used as supplements with grass silage, and that the two feeds were interchangeable on an equal DM basis.  相似文献

Grass silages made from first-harvest perennial ryegrass in mid-May and early-June and termed high-D and low-D respectively had mean DOMD values of 694 and 633 g kg−1 and were offered ad libitum to twelve Ayrshire cows in a 16-week feeding experiment using a cyclic changeover design. The silages were supplemented with a concentrate containing 363g CP per kg DM at daily rates of 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 kg per cow. The average daily intakes of silage DM were 12.6 and 11.1 kg per cow on the high- and low-D silage treatments respectively, and were not significantly different on the three concentrate treatments. The mean daily milk yields were 171, 18.6 and 21.0 kg per cow on the low-D silage treatments, and 19.6, 21.2 and 22.8 kg per cow on the high-D silage treatments at the 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 kg rates of concentrate feeding respectively. Fat and lactose concentrations in the milk were not affected significantly by treatment, whereas the CP and SNF concentrations increased progressively and significantly as the rate of supplementary feeding increased. It is concluded that a high-protein concentrate supplement allows silage to make the maximum contribution in the diet, and gives a high response in terms of milk yield and composition.  相似文献
