Rare cases of thymic granulomatous lesions were found in pigs. The lesions consisted of epithelioid cells, multinucleated giant cells, and lymphocytes. Such lesions also were observed in the mesenteric lymph nodes, spleen, kidney, and stomach. The cytoplasm of the majority of giant cells and some epithlioid cells was periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) positive. All cells were positive for vimentin, lysozyme, and desmin. Ultrastructurally, the giant cells were rich in organella and attached to adjacent epithelioid cells by membrane interdigitation. The cells included numerous coated vesicles and granules. No etiologic pathogen, including porcine circovirus type 2, was detected in the lesions. This is the rare case of idiopathic thymic granulomatous lesion in pigs.  相似文献

Gross and microscopic lesions of discospondylitis in swine are described. Gross lesions were characterized by areas of destruction and cavitation involving intervertebral discs and adjacent structures. Microscopically, acute lesions had hemorrhage and necrosis with infiltration of granulocytes and mononuclear cells. In chronic cases intradiscal structures were replaced by vascular connective tissue which contained plasma cells and lymphocytes. These lesions were most frequently associated with chronic erysipelas polyarthritis.  相似文献

为了进一步观察犬瘟热病毒引起的原发性脑损伤和包涵体形成的特点,调查脑组织的损伤与神经症状的关系,对10只急性犬瘟热病犬的脑组织进行了详细的病理学研究。为了仔细地观察病变,本试验按照解剖学关系将脑组织分成3个大部分和11个切面,即大脑(4个切面),脑干(5个切面)和小脑(2个切面)。组织切片经HE、LFB和免疫组织化学染色后进行检查,结果表明:在大脑,脱髓呈弥漫性发生,程度较轻;脑干的周围或靠近第三脑室的白质脱髓较重;小脑在轻度或中度脱髓的基础上常出现严重的多发性脱髓灶。脱髓部呈空泡或海绵状,有少量胶质细胞存在,但无炎性反应。脱髓性病损是非时称性发生,对神经束没有特殊的亲和力。在脑室的室管膜细胞内发现有较多的嗜酸性胞浆或核内包涵体。用抗犬瘟热病毒抗体染色,带有包涵体的室管膜细胞呈现强阳性反应。部分锥体细胞,神经核细胞和漓氏细胞变性、溶解或胞浆深染。胞核浓缩。这种变化以小锥体神经细胞表现得最为明显。根据此研究结果,作者认为由犬瘟热病毒引起的原发性脑组织损伤是一种脱髓性脑病,而不是脑炎变化;位于室管膜细胞内的包涵体对于脑组织犬瘟热的确诊具有重要的作用;由于犬瘟热病毒引起神经细胞的损伤是非特异性的,对脑组织的侵害是非对称性的。对神经束的作用无特殊的亲和力,所以患犬瘟热的犬在临床上可出现不同的神经症状。  相似文献

The gross and histopathologic lesions of meningoencephalitis tuberculosa in a 4-year-old Holstein cow showing clinical signs compatible with bovine spongiform encephalopathy are described in this report. Grossly, numerous gray to yellow, firm and caseous nodules were seen on the ventral surfaces of the brain and in the lateral and fourth ventricles. Histopathologically, foci of caseation and dystrophic mineralization were surrounded by multinucleated giant cells, epitheloid macrophages, plasma cells, lymphocytes and fibrous proliferation. Ziehl-Neelsen stains of the lesions revealed masses of slender acid-fast bacilli in the necrotic centers of lesions and within surrounding giant cells.  相似文献

Neural lesions of Marek's disease, Marek's disease tumours in the ovary, liver, and kidney, as well as spleen and bursa of Fabricii of chickens bearing Marek's disease tumorous infiltrations, were examined by a new immunohistochemical technique basing upon Sternbergers unlabelled antibody enzyme method which allows the exact localization of lymphoid cells based on their surface antigens. Type C neural lesions contained T-lymphocytes almost exclusively. Type B neural lesions had relatively high proportions of T- and B-lymphocytes, and severe type A neural lesions possessed one part of heavily labelled T-lymphocytes and a number of cells stained weakly by rabbit-anti-chicken-T-cell-globulin. Tumorous infiltrations had similar characteristics as type A neural lesions. Spleen and interfollicular spaces of bursa of Fabricius were infiltrated by T-lymphocytes.  相似文献

Twelve one-day-old chicks were experimentally inoculated with Chlamydia psittaci derived from turkeys. Acute chlamydial septicemic lesions were induced by the inoculation into the air sac and trachea. No lesions were produced by the esophageal injection. Clinically, the affected chicks showed emaciation and mouth breathing, and were inactive while some birds died. Grossly, they had hepatomegaly, splenomegaly and airsacculitis. Histopathologically, fibrinopurulent airsacculitis, pneumonia and bronchitis, multiple fibrinous serositis in the hepatic and splenic capsules, peri- and epicardium, and mesenterium, focal endoarteritis in the aortae, activation of reticuloendothelial cells in the spleen, and hepatic necrosis were noted. Immunohistochemically, chlamydial antigen granules were present in the cytoplasm of epithelial cells of the respiratory system, hepatocytes, macrophages in the air sac, lung, serous membrane, liver, spleen, aortae, reticuloendothelial cells in the spleen, and mesothelial cells in various organs or tissues. Chlamydial multiplication in the cells of the organs or tissues involved was preceded to form the lesions.  相似文献

Feather pulps of 15-to-35-week-old chickens with Marek's disease (MD) lymphomas were examined histopathologically. Of the 64 chickens, 59 (92.2%) had lymphoproliferative (T-type) lesions in the feather pulp. The T-type feather-pulp lesion (FPL) occurred in all regions, but more frequently in the upper column of the pulp. Severe lesions were distributed throughout the feather pulp. Some of the T-type FPLs regressed to inflammatory lesions consisting of necrosis or loss of constituent cells, edema, and infiltration by small lymphocytes, heterophils, and plasma cells. The regressive T-type FPL was usually diffuse throughout the tumorous lesions, but proliferative foci were often seen concomitantly with regressive lesions. The grade and histologic picture of T-type FPLs in chickens correlated well with those of the visceral lymphomas. These findings suggest that the severity of MD lymphoma is predictable without autopsy by examining feather-pulp samples.  相似文献

Five-week-old chickens were inoculated with fowl pox (FP) virus and killed on various days through day 30 postinoculation (PI). The trachea was examined with a scanning electron microscope (SEM), a transmission electron microscope (TEM), and a light microscope (LM). From day 3 PI, small focal lesions of the mucosa were detected. On day 7 PI, upon formation of cytoplasmic inclusion bodies, epithelial cells proliferated profusely, enlarged, and formed clusters like papillomata. The disease proceeded to the gradual disruption of the lesions owing to the collapse of individual degenerating epithelial cells. Total desquamation of the lesions was observed. Ultrastructural examination revealed that the surface degenerating epithelial cells of the lesions ruptured and had virus particles inside. These changes were accompanied by severe inflammatory reaction. Thereafter, epithelial cells regenerated actively and the mucosa recovered by day 27 PI.  相似文献

A case of pulmonary acariasis in lung of Japanese macaque   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
A 20-year-old female Japanese macaque, weighing 8.7 kg, developed severe pulmonary acariasis. Numerous whitish nodules, 2-4 mm, were scattered throughout the lungs. Histologically multifocal granulomatous lesions consisting of a large number of eosinophils, epithelioid cells, foreign body type giant cells, and collagen fibers were aggregated around the mait bodies. Numerous mast cells were also detected in the lesions by toluidine blue staining, and tested positive for tryptase by immunohistochemistry. This may be the first reported case of severe pulmonary acariasis in a Japanese macaque.  相似文献

Monkeypox with extensive lesions was diagnosed in a prairie dog that was involved in a recent human outbreak of monkeypox in the Midwestern United States. Gross lesions included oral ulcers, pulmonary consolidation, enlarged cervical and thoracic lymph nodes, and multifocal, small, white umbilicated plaques in the gastrointestinal wall. Microscopic lesions were extensive in the lungs and consisted of fibrinonecrotic bronchopneumonia with vasculitis and poorly defined eosinophilic intracytoplasmic inclusion bodies in cells thought to be alveolar epithelial cells, histiocytes, and fibroblasts. Multifocal necrotizing lesions, often accompanied by myxedema, were also present in most of the other examined organs. Aggregates of pox viral particles were observed within lesions by transmission electron microscopy. Monkeypox virus infection was confirmed by real-time polymerase chain reaction and virus culture at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This report highlights the difficulties of rapid diagnosis of exotic or emerging diseases and further substantiates the prairie dog as an animal model of monkeypox.  相似文献

Sixty-four guinea-pigs were infected with the germs of Brucella suis. biotype 2 via the vaginal, peroral, intranasal, conjunctival and subcutaneous routes. In the subcutaneous infection the length of the trial was 151 days and in the other methods of infection 56 days. As found, guinea-pigs are highly sensitive and brucellosis lesions were detected in all cases. Brucellosis was chronical and spread locally in the guinea-pigs. In the haematogenic spreading of the disease, lesions were constantly recorded in liver, spleen and lungs. In the cases of subcutaneous infection lesions were also observed in regional lymph nodes at the places of infection. The lesions had amorphous structure and regular borders. The lesions were characterized by pronounced exudation and the exudate was subject to caseous necrosis, followed by colliquation. Secondary central colliquation was regularly observed in older granulomas, so that colliquation is considered as a characteristic morphological trait of brucellosis process in guinea-pigs. Histiocytary granuloma constituted the microscopic basis of the lesions. In older granulomas the central necroses were wide and contained a large amount of nuclear detritus, owing to the karyorhexis of cells, mainly neutrophiles. In the necroses of caseous type lipoid droplets were found and calcification was observed on the 151st day. Big cells of Langhans type occurred sometimes in the histiocytary layer of granulomas; they were present most frequently in the lesions affecting lymph nodes. Interstitial pneumonia was a characteristic symptom in liver and big cells of Sternberg type were found in the granulomas. Follicular tumor was constantly observed in spleens. Morphologically detectable lesions first developed in liver after about 7 days from conjunctival infection and subcutaneous infection, after 21 days from vaginal and intranasal infection, and after 28 days from peroral infection. In the case of subcutaneous infection, granulomas were found in the regional lymph nodes on the 14th day. The most expressive lesions in organs, mainly liver, were found from the 49th to 56th day from infection.  相似文献

Six sheep with lymphosarcoma induced by hypodermic inoculation of bovine leukemia virus (BLV) materials were examined to elucidate the relation between pathologic lesions and integration of BLV provirus in cellular DNAs. Antibodies to BLV gp-antigens had been detected since the 3rd week after the inoculation, and BLV was positive when checked 3 months later. Lymphosarcomas followed the leukemic phase in 4 sheep. The other 2 sheep showed initial lesions of lymphosarcoma and were aleukemic clinically. Five animals were killed by enthanasia and autopsied at 2.5 to 3.5 years postinoculation (pi) because of their diseased condition. One animal died 10 years pi following the 4th leukemic episode. Sarcomatous lesions were confirmed grossly and histologically, and the proliferating neoplastic cells were classified into lymphocytic, prolymphocytic, lymphoblastic and histiocytic types. Integration of BLV provirus in cellular DNAs of the peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) and neoplastic cells of sarcomatous lesions was examined by Southern blotting technique. BLV provirus was demonstrated in the PBL of all infected animals and in most of the sarcomatous lesions of the spleen, kidney and lymph nodes except 4 lymph nodes showing slight neoplastic infiltration. The results indicated that ovine lymphosarcoma could be caused by BLV and the cells carrying proviral information seemed to be disseminated and proliferate in the lesions.  相似文献

During a five month period, 220 slaughter swine (at two abattoirs) had gross cutaneous and lymph node lesions suggestive of melanoma. Lymph nodes from 214 and cutaneous lesions from 176 of these pigs were submitted for histological examination. Of the cutaneous lesions, 174 were spontaneously regressing melanomas, and two were nonregressing. Regression usually commenced by infiltration of the lesion by lymphocytes, plasma cells and the formation of giant cells. Of the melanotic lymph nodes, 177 were diagnosed as melanosis, 35 were considered to be metastatic regressing melanomas, and two were nonregressing melanomas. This report indicates a high rate of spontaneous regression in swine melanomas detected at slaughter.  相似文献

Lymph nodes with granulomatous mycotic lesions from 100 cattle and 9 pigs were examined. More than 90% of cases of mycotic lymphadenitis in cattle occurred in the mesenteric nodes, whereas in swine lesions occurred at multiple sites. All observed mycotic infections were caused by zygomycetes. Histologically the granulomas were characterized by necrosis, mineralization, and fibrosis with infiltration of eosinophils, neutrophils, lymphocytes, and giant cells. Mucoraceous-type hyphae were identified in most of the lesions, and Absidia corymbifera, Rhizopus rhizopodiformis, and R. oryzae were isolated. Within the lesions, chlamydospores were produced by R. rhizopodiformis. Mycelia in a few lesions were suggestive of infections with fungi of the Mortierellaceae and Entomophthoraceae.  相似文献

The central nervous system lesions in encephalitozoonosis were studied in 11 naturally infected blue foxes. Immunohistochemical staining was employed in the demonstration of the parasites and identification of host cells. Consistent findings in acute to subacute stages included granulomatous meningoencephalomyelitis and vasculitis, with arterial lesions similar to polyarteritis nodosa. Chronic stages were dominated by arteriosclerosis, perivascular mononuclear infiltrations and gliosis, with less prominent granulomatous reaction. Parasites were almost constantly observed in association with active lesions both in vessels and nervous tissue. Parasitophorous vacuoles (PV) occurred in endothelial cells and in the medial layer of arteries. Neurons, including even their processes, were widely parasitized, a fact that may account for the brain being an important target organ. PV also occurred in ependymal cells of the choroid plexus and occasionally in macrophages. A great number of parasites was demonstrated in phagolysosomes of macrophages, a fact that probably reflects a relative resistance to digestion, and may consequently contribute to the development of the prominent granulomatous reaction. It was concluded that the brain lesions, except in chronic stages of mild infections, seem to be pathognomonic for encephalitozoonosis in the blue fox.  相似文献

Investigations using immunofluorescence and immunoperoxidase techniques revealed a gradual, but marked, increase in the numbers of immunoglobulin-secreting cells in the skin of pigs during the development of lesions of sarcoptic mange. This was followed by a marked decrease as the lesions regressed. The rise and fall in numbers of these immunoglobulin-secreting cells were observed in both newborn and older animals as they developed signs of cutaneous disease. IgG-secreting cells were the major immunoglobulin-containing cells, followed by IgM- and then IgA-containing cells in the skin of newborn animals. In older pigs, IgM-secreting cells were most prevalent, followed by IgG- and IgA-secreting cells. In multiple infestations, immunoglobulin-secreting cells in the dermis showed very little increase in numbers following the second infestation. Third, fourth and fifth infestations produced little or no increase.  相似文献

A case of pulmonary tuberculosis is described in a dromedary from Nouakchott (Mauritania). Gross lesions affected pulmonary parenchyma, diaphragmatic pleura, pericardium and regional lymph nodes: caseo-calcified nodules, miliary tubercles and haemorrhagic "pendeloques". Microscopically lesions were characterised by granulomatous tissue, epithelioid cells, necrotic material in the centre. No Langhans giant cells were seen. Mycobacterium bovis was isolated from these samples.  相似文献

Pathologic and immunohistochemical changes caused by group I of the fowl adenovirus (FAV) serotype-1 99ZH strain, isolated from broiler chickens exhibiting gizzard erosion, were investigated in commercial broiler chickens. One hundred twenty-two chickens were inoculated with the strain by both oral and ocular routes at 1, 3, or 5 weeks of age and euthanatized for necropsy within 4-18 days of inoculation. Focal gizzard erosions were observed in the inoculated chickens of each age group. A histologically degenerative koilin layer, necrotic mucosa, intranuclear inclusion bodies in the glandular epithelial cells, inflammatory cell infiltrations in the lamina propria, submucosa, and a muscle layer were seen in the gizzards. Immunohistochemical staining showed evidence of FAV antigens in the intranuclear inclusion bodies. These findings were recognized regardless of their maternal antibody levels for FAV serotype-1. Gizzard lesions appeared later in the lower-dose-inoculated chickens than in the higher-dose-inoculated chickens. Numerous CD3-positive cells and IgY-positive plasma cells were seen in the gizzard lesions. In 5-week-old chickens the heterophil infiltrations in the lesions were milder than in younger chickens. Intranuclear inclusion bodies also were observed in the epithelial cells of the ileum or cecal tonsils of some chickens. Thus, this study shows that FAV-99ZH causes adenoviral gizzard erosion in broiler chickens without hepatic or pancreatic lesions and that cell infiltration is more severe than in dietary gizzard erosions.  相似文献

In an outbreak of wart-like skin lesions in nine-month-old farmed Nile crocodiles (Crocodylus niloticus) the lesions were especially common on the head and neck but occurred on all parts of the body except the tail. Eosinophilic intracytoplasmic inclusion bodies were present in epithelial cells and further examination of the lesions by transmission electron microscopy revealed the presence of a poxvirus. An autogenous vaccine was produced from material from the lesions and in six vaccinated crocodiles the lesions healed more quickly than in unvaccinated controls.  相似文献
