Street-side vegetation greenery contributes substantial health benefits for pedestrians. Multi-year street view images are expected to enable the monitoring of dynamic street-side vegetation greenery changes and the development of targeted urban landscape plans. However, the potential of multi-year street view images used for the assessment of street-side vegetation greenery has not been evaluated yet. Besides, complicated urban landscapes may make it difficult to accurately quantify vegetation greenery. This study developed a framework to assess the spatio-temporal variation of street-side vegetation greenery using the Baidu Street View images and a new Vegetation Greenery Index (VGI). The proposed analytical framework was applied to Tai’an city, a highly populated city where urbanization has been rapid in China. The level of vegetation greenery estimated using the proposed framework was compared with ground truths randomly collected at sampling sites along the road networks in 2014 and 2019 to assess the applicability. Results demonstrated that the proposed VGI method could accurately quantify street-side vegetation greenery. The comparison of multi-year VGI layers could identify locations where vegetation greenery substantially changed and quantify the overall change in urban greenery. Vegetation greenery estimates were well agreed with the ground truths. Spatio-temporal variations in the urban vegetation greenery were attributed to trees that were newly planted or removed, the natural growth of the existing vegetation, and new building construction. The proposed framework is expected to be a useful tool to evaluate urban vegetation greenery and help urban landscape planning.  相似文献

The paper presents a new distance measure useful for integrated environmental assessments. It is a generalized weighted Euclidean distance whose weights are calculated based on the coefficients of determination among environmental quality indicators in the data set. The proposed distance allows all environmental quality indicators to be used directly without any reduction in dimension (e.g., as in principal component analysis). Hypothetical and case-study examples are given to illustrate the distance measure. Examples demonstrate that the proposed distance is suitable and valuable for integrating multiple indicators into a single index, a common task in integrated environmental assessment.  相似文献

Interest in protecting ecological areas is increasing because of land uses conflicts and environmental pressures. The optimal zoning of protected ecological areas belongs to a NP-hard problem because it is subject to both box and spatial constraints. A challenge in solving area optimization problems emerges with the increasing size of a study region. In this article, an integrated approach of remote sensing, GIS and modified ant colony optimization (ACO) is proposed for application in zoning protected ecological areas. Significant modifications have been made in the conventional ACO so that it can be further extended to solve zoning problems in large regions. An improved selection strategy is designed to accelerate the progress of sites selection for artificial ants. Another important modification in ACO is to incorporate the neighborhood diffusion strategy into pheromone updating. The optimal objective is to generate protected areas that maximize both ecological suitability and spatial compactness. The modified ACO model has been successfully applied to a case study involving an area of 25,483 cells in Dongguan, Guangdong, China. The experiments have demonstrated that the proposed model is an efficient and effective optimization technique for generating optimal protection. The modified ACO model only requires approximately 119 s for determining near-optimal solutions. Furthermore, the proposed method performs better than other methods, including simulated annealing, genetic algorithm, iterative relaxation, basic ACO, and density slicing.  相似文献

A new modified random clusters method for the simulation of landscape the matic spatial patterns is presented. It produces more realistic and general results than landscape models that have been commonly used to date in the field of landscape ecology. Simulated patterns are said to be realistic, apart from their patchy and irregular appearance, because the values of the spatial indices as a function of habitat abundance measured in real landscape patterns (number of patches, edge length and patch cohesion index) can be replicated with the proposed landscape model. It allows a wide range of spatial patterns to be obtained, in which fragmentation and habitat abundance can be systematically and independently varied. Furthermore, a degree of control over the irregularity of the shapes of the simulated landscapes can be achieved, and it is also possible to simulate patterns with anisotropy. The proposed method is easy to implement and requires little computation time, which enhances the practical possibilities of this method in different areas of landscape ecology.  相似文献

As an important factor of scenic quality and biodiversity along a greenway, landscape diversity has yet to receive as much attention as it deserves. In the practice of greenway alignment planning, it usually gives way to the primary consideration of land suitability. In this article, we aim to make up this missing link. Upon the new concepts and measurement of linear landscape diversity and cellular landscape diversity, we proposed greenway potential index incorporating land suitability and landscape diversity. The greenway potential index was combined with connectivity analysis to connect path between a future greenway’s origin and destination that meets both land suitability and landscape diversity requirements. Specially, with Wuchang (Wuhan City, China) as a case study area, we proposed three greenway alignment planning scenarios respectively according to the criteria of suitability, diversity and the synthesis of them. Markedly differences were revealed between the results of suitability greenways and diversity greenways. The results indicate that the tripartite model we proposed is capable of planning a connecting path between a future greenway’s origin and destination that not only meets land suitability requirements for greenway construction, but also incorporates as many landscape types of significant difference as possible.  相似文献

A four-electrode conductivity sensor and associated electronics were designed and applied to the continuous monitoring of conductivity and the rate of K+ and NO?3 uptake in a hydroponic system. The new device was successfully used to monitor continuously the depletion rate of K+ and NO?3 in a hydroponic solution in which tomato plants (Lycopersicon esculentum cultivar ‘Naama’) were cultivated. A model is proposed for estimating the rate of K+ and NO?3 uptake by the plant, and their total concentration, from conductivity measurements. Experimental results verify the proposed mathematical criterion for choosing the initial concentrations of K+ and NO?3, and validate the underlying assumption of the proposed model.  相似文献
