An 8‐week feeding trial was conducted to determine two vitamin C derivatives, l ‐ascorbyl‐2‐sulphate (C2S) and l ‐ascorbyl‐2‐polyphosphate (C2PP), to satisfy vitamin C requirement and to test their effects on the non‐specific humoral immune responses of juvenile grouper, Epinephelus malabaricus. C2S and C2PP were each supplemented at 20, 50, 80, 150, 250 and 400 mg kg?1 diet in the semi‐purified basal diet providing of 7, 16, 28, 55, 86, 142 mg ascorbic acid (AA) equivalent of C2S kg?1 diet and 4, 9, 15, 31, 49, 75 mg AA equivalent of C2PP kg?1 diet, respectively. Basal diet without AA supplemented was included as a control. Each diet was fed to triplicate groups of grouper (mean initial weight: 6.69 ± 0.07 g). Fish fed diets with ≥28 mg AA equivalent of C2S or ≥4 mg AA equivalent of C2PP kg?1 had significantly (P < 0.05) greater weight gain (WG) than fish fed the unsupplemented control diet. Liver AA concentrations were higher in fish fed diets with ≥16 mg AA equivalent of C2S or ≥9 mg AA equivalent of C2PP kg?1 than fish fed the control diet. Alternative pathway of complement activation (ACP) was higher in fish fed diets with ≥55 mg AA equivalent of C2S or ≥15 mg AA equivalent of C2PP kg?1 than fish fed the control diet. Lysozyme activity was higher in fish fed ≥86 mg AA equivalent of C2S or ≥15 mg AA equivalent of C2PP kg?1 than fish fed the control diet. Analysis by broken‐line regression of WG indicated that the adequate dietary vitamin C concentration from each vitamin C derivative in growing grouper is 46.2 mg AA equivalent of C2S kg?1 diet and 17.8 mg AA equivalent of C2PP kg?1 diet, and it also indicated that C2S is approximately 39% as effective as C2PP in meeting the vitamin C requirement for grouper. The data suggest that both C2S and C2PP supplementation support non‐specific immune responses of grouper.  相似文献

This study was conducted to compare l ‐ascorbyl‐2‐glucose (AA2G) with l ‐ascorbyl‐2‐monophosphate‐Na/Ca (AMP‐Na/Ca) for supplying the dietary vitamin C for juvenile Korean rockfish Sebastes schlegeli (Hilgendorf). Fish were fed one of seven semi‐purified diets containing equivalents of 0, 50, 100 and 200 mg ascorbic acid (AA) kg?1 diet in the form of AA2G or AMP‐Na/Ca for 12 weeks. After 12 weeks of feeding, weight gain, feed efficiency ratio and survival of fish fed the vitamin C‐free diet were significantly lower than those of fish fed the vitamin C‐supplemented diets in either form. The hepatosomatic index, condition factor and survival of fish fed AMP‐Na/Ca100, AMP‐Na/Ca200, AA2G100 and AA2G200 diets were significantly higher than fish fed the vitamin C‐free diet. After 9 weeks of feeding, fish fed the vitamin C‐free diet began to show vitamin C deficiency signs such as anorexia and lethargy. At the end of the 12‐week feeding trial, fish fed the vitamin C‐free diet exhibited vitamin C deficiency signs, e.g., anorexia, scoliosis, exophthalmia and fin haemorrhage. Vitamin C retention in the muscle and liver was similar to those of fish fed AA2G‐ or AMP‐Na/Ca‐supplemented diets. In general, there was no significant difference in the muscle and liver vitamin C concen‐tration in fish fed the AA2G and AMP‐Na/Ca diets at the same supplementation levels.  相似文献

This experiment was conducted to study the effects of different dietary levels of vitamin C, L‐ascorbyl‐2‐polyphosphate (ASPP), on growth and tissue vitamin C concentrations in juvenile olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus (Temminck et Schlegel). Fish were fed one of six semi‐purified diets containing an equivalent of 0, 25, 50, 75, 150, or 1500 mg ascorbic acid (AA) kg?1 diet (C0, C25, C50, C75, C150 or C1500) in the form of ASPP for 12 weeks. Weight gain (WG) and protein efficiency ratio (PER) of fish fed the C0 diet were significantly lower than those of fish fed the other diets (P < 0.05), and WG and PER of fish fed the C25, C50 and C75 diets were significantly lower than those of fish fed the C1500 diet (P < 0.05). Fish fed the C0 diet exhibited vitamin C deficiency symptoms such as anorexia, scoliosis, cataract, exophthalmia and fin hemorrhage at the end of the 12‐week test. After 12 weeks of the feeding trial, AA concentrations from gill, kidney, and liver of fish fed the C0, C25, C50 and C75 diets were significantly lower than those of fish fed the C150 and C1500 diets (P < 0.05). Based on broken line analyses for WG and PER, the optimum dietary levels of vitamin C were 91 and 93 mg AA kg?1 diet respectively. These findings suggest that the dietary vitamin C requirement could be 93 mg AA kg?1 diet to support reasonable growth, and greater than 150 mg AA kg?1 diet may be required for AA saturation of major tissues for juvenile olive flounder under experimental conditions.  相似文献

A feeding experiment was conducted to examine the efficacy of a vitamin C (L‐ascorbic acid, AsA) derivative, l ‐ascorbyl‐2‐monophosphate Na/Ca (AMP‐Na/Ca) by comparing to l ‐ascorbyl‐2‐monophosphate‐Mg (AMP‐Mg) in terms of growth, AsA content in tissues, and hematology in yellowtail Seriola quinqueradiata juvenile (1.10 ± 0.01 g). Furthermore, a stress resistance test for the species fed AMP‐Na/Ca was also conducted. In experiment 1, 11 test pellet diets with different levels of AMP‐Na/Ca (0, 12, 43, 88, 440 and 881 mg AsA kg?1diet) and AMP‐Mg (0, 16, 52, 106, 595 and 1164 mg AsA kg?1 diet) were formulated and fed to the yellowtail three times per day for 50 days. In both the vitamin C sources, the survival rates of the fish fed diets without supplemental AsA were lower than 50% at day 20, and more than 50% mortality occurred in fish that fed the diets containing 12 or 16 mg AsA kg?1 after day 30. However, no significant differences were detected in survival and growth among fish that fed the diets containing more than 43 mg AsA kg?1. Liver and brain AsA concentrations generally increased with increasing dietary AsA level in both sources. In experiment 2, test diets were formulated to contain 43, 88, 440 and 881 mg AsA kg?1 using AMP‐Na/Ca, and after 60 days of feeding, yellowtail juveniles were subjected to low salinity and air exposure stress. The fish that received diets with 440 mg AsA kg?1 showed significantly higher tolerance to low salinity stress and higher survival rate in air exposure stress than those of other groups. The present study demonstrated that yellowtail juveniles could utilize AMP‐Na/Ca as an AsA source like AMP‐Mg, and that supplementation of 43–52 mg AsA kg?1 diet was optimum for normal growth. However, this study showed that dietary inclusion of 440 mg AsA kg?1 would be necessary to improve stress resistance of this species.  相似文献

A 9‐week feeding trial was conducted to determine the optimal dietary vitamin C requirement and its effects on serum enzymes activities and bacterial resistance in the juvenile yellow drum Nibea albiflora (initial weight 33.2 ± 0.10 g). Six practical diets were formulated containing vitamin C 2.1, 45.3, 89.6, 132.4, 178.6 and 547.1 mg kg?1 diet supplied as l ‐ascorbyl‐2‐monophosphate. The fish fed 547.1 mg kg?1 diet showed a significantly higher survival than that fed 2.1 mg kg?1 diet. The weight gains and specific growth rate of the fish fed 2.1 mg kg?1 diet were significantly lower than those of the fish fed 89.6–547.1 mg kg?1 diets. The liver vitamin C concentration firstly increased with increasing dietary vitamin C supply from 2.1 to 178.6 mg kg?1 diet and then stabilized. The serum superoxide dismutase activities of the fish fed 547.1 mg kg?1 diet were significantly lower than those of the fish fed 2.1–89.6 mg kg?1 diet. The fish fed 2.1 mg kg?1 diet had a significantly higher alkaline phosphatase activity than those in the other groups except the 45.3 mg kg?1 group. Fish that received diets containing vitamin C at 547.1 mg kg?1 had significantly higher nitro blue tetrazolium and lysozyme activity, and fish that received diets containing vitamin C at 45.3–547.1 mg kg?1 exhibited resistance against Vibrio alginolyticus infection. The dietary vitamin C requirement of the juvenile yellow drum was established based on broken‐line model of weight gain to be 142.2 mg l ‐ascorbyl‐2‐monophosphate kg?1 diet.  相似文献

An 8‐week growth experiment was conducted to quantify the appropriate dietary vitamin C requirement of juvenile Chinese sucker (Myxocyprinus asiaticus). Triplicate groups of 30 experimental fish [initial body weight: (7.1 ± 0.3) g] were cultured in 500 L aquaria and fed with semi‐purified diets containing six levels [10.1 (unsupplemented diet), 37.4, 64.9, 125.2, 244.2 and 482.0 mg kg?1 diet, respectively] of vitamin C (supplied as L‐ascorbyl‐2‐polyphosphate). Results showed that weight gain of Chinese sucker was significantly increased with increasing dietary vitamin C levels, but there was no significant difference of weight gain among fish fed the diets containing more than 125.2 mg kg?1 vitamin C. As dietary vitamin C increased, the liver vitamin C content of fish showed the increasing trend firstly and then stabled, while the muscle vitamin C content significantly increased without reaching a constant level. Lower liver malondialdehyde content was observed in 125.2, 244.2 and 482.0 mg kg?1 vitamin C groups, and higher antioxidant capacity and superoxide dismutase activities were observed in supplemented groups when compared to the unsupplemented group. Liver aspartate aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase activities were also significant affected by dietary vitamin C. Ash content of fish fed the diet with 244.2 or 482.0 mg kg?1 vitamin C was significantly higher than that of fish fed the other diets. However, dietary vitamin C had no significant effects on whole‐body crude protein, lipid and moisture contents. The vitamin C requirement of juvenile Chinese sucker was estimated to be 84.6 and 126.1 mg kg?1 based on weight gain and liver vitamin C concentration respectively.  相似文献

A 10‐week feeding trial was conducted to determine the optimal requirement of cobia (Rachycentron canadum Linneaus) for dietary ascorbic acid (AA). Graded levels of L‐ascorbyl‐2‐polyphosphate (LAPP) were supplemented in basal diet to formulate six semi‐purified diets containing 2.70 (the control diet), 8.47, 28.3, 80.6, 241 and 733 mg AA equivalent kg?1 diet, respectively. Each diet was randomly fed to triplicate groups of fish in flow‐through plastic tanks (300 L), and each tank was stocked with 25 fish with average initial weight of 4.59 ± 0.36 g. Observed deficiency signs included poor growth, higher mortality and lower feeding rate (FR) in the fish of the control group. Fish fed the control diet had significantly lower weight gain (WG), lower feed efficiency ratio (FER) and lower tissue AA concentrations in fish liver and muscle. With the increase of dietary AA, the survival, WG, FER, hepatic and muscular AA concentrations of cobia significantly increased and then levelled off. The dietary AA requirement of cobia was estimated to be 44.7 mg kg?1 based on WG, 53.9 mg kg?1 or 104 mg kg?1 based on either hepatic or muscular AA concentration, respectively.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of practical diets with different levels of vitamin C on survival and growth of juvenile crayfish (Pacifastacus leniusculus). An 80‐day trial was conducted with stage 2 juveniles from the onset of exogenous feeding. Four practical diets differing in the content of l ‐ascorbyl‐2‐monophosphate‐Na were prepared: 0, 0.2, 0.4 or 0.8 g kg?1 diet. Each diet was tested on grouped or individually isolated crayfish. Diets had no significant effects on survival of crayfish held in groups (average: 73.1%) neither on the isolated ones (average: 90%). Crayfish fed the diet with 0.2 g kg?1 of l ‐ascorbyl‐2‐monophosphate‐Na had the highest growth (groups: 13.64 mm carapace length (CL), 542.4 mg weight; isolated: 17.05 mm CL, 1213.2 mg weight) and the lowest feed conversion ratio (average of grouped and isolated: 0.99). This study provides the first data on vitamin C requirements of freshwater crayfish. A level of 0.2 g l ‐ascorbyl‐2‐monophosphate‐Na kg?1 diet (0.07 g ascorbic acid equivalent) can be recommended for juvenile P. leniusculus during the first period of intensive rearing.  相似文献

Seven purified diets were formulated and fed to seven groups of Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus L., fingerlings for 12 weeks. Six of the formulated diets contained 5 or 50 mg kg?1 of ascorbic acid equivalent supplied by either L-ascorbic acid (AA), L-ascorbyl-2-sulphate (AS) or L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate (APP). The seventh basal diet was ascorbate-free and served as the control. The results of diet analysis for ascorbic acid showed that it was not detected or negligible in the control diet and in the diets containing AA at the end of the experiment, whereas there was no loss of ascorbic acid from diets prepared with AS or APP. The results demonstrated that the feed efficiency and growth parameters in fish fed APP-5, AS-5, AA-5 or AA-50 diets were statistically similar to the same parameters in fish fed the control diet. The study indicated that diets supplemented with 5 or 50 mg kg?1 ascorbic acid in the form of APP or AS were more effectively utilized as sources of vitamin C than equimolar AA in promoting growth, improving food efficiency, increasing nutrient retention and preventing scurvy in Nile tilapia. Fish fed the ascorbate-free diet and the diet containing 5 mg AA kg?1 exhibited external signs of scurvy during the last growth period of the experiment. Diets containing 5 mg kg?1 of ascorbic acid from AS or APP provided some growth with no overt signs of scurvy, indicating that this concentration of AS and APP might be near the minimum requirement for the species. The APP-50 diet was the most efficient, and significantly (P < 0.05), had the lowest value of the amount of dietary protein necessary for 100 g weight gain (dietary protein index, DPI), the highest values of feed conversion efficiency (FCE) and the highest values of nutrient retention, i.e. protein (PRV), fat (FRV), ash (ARV) and gross energy (ERV) compared to the other diets. Fish that received the APP-50 diet had a significantly (P < 0.05) higher weight and protein gains in tissues than the other fish groups. The increase in the feed efficiency and growth parameter values in fish receiving the APP-50 diet compared with the values for the same parameters in the AA-50 diet were calculated as percentages, and the results were: weight gain, 36.2%; protein gain, 40.9%; FCE, 53.3%; PRV, 58.1%; FRV, 34.9%; ARV, 57.4%; and ERV, 51.9%. The diet containing APP-50 was followed in order by the AS-50 diet. The AS-50 diet had statistically comparable (P > 0.05) values of weight gain, protein gain and FRV to the APP-50 diet. The increased feed efficiency and growth parameters values of fish receiving the AS-50 diet compared with the AA-50 diet were calculated as percentages, and the results were: weight gain, 2 7.9%; protein gain, 27.9%; FCE, 18.2%; PRV, 17.9%; FRV, 19.2%; ARV, 8.9%; and ERV, 18.2%. There were no significant (P > 0.05) differences between the groups in the percentages of moisture, protein and ash in whole fish at the end of the study, whereas lipid percentages were significantly (P < 0.05) lower in all the tested groups in comparison with the control fish. Increasing the level of ascorbic acid equivalent from 5 to 50 mg kg?1 diet from APP, AS or AA reduced the percentage of fat in Nile tilapia bodies. These results indicate that all the tested vitamin C sources were effective in inducing lipolysis in Nile tilapia tissues.  相似文献

l ‐ascorbyl‐2‐monophosphate‐Na/Ca (AMP‐Na/Ca) was used as a vitamin C source to investigate the ascorbic acid (AsA) requirements on growth performance and stress resistance of the post‐larval kuruma shrimp, Marsupenaeus japonicus. Purified carrageenan‐microbound diets with six levels of AMP‐Na/Ca, AsA equivalent to 0, 20, 56, 87, 759 and 1697 mg kg?1 diet were fed to triplicate groups of M. japonicus (mean initial weight 16±0.3 mg) for 30 days. The diets with AsA 0, 20 and 56 mg kg?1 showed high cumulative mortality after 10 days of feeding. After the 30‐day trial, the shrimp fed these diets had significantly lower survival and weight gain (WG, %) than those fed the 87, 759 and 1697 mg AsA kg?1 diets. Specific growth rate and individual dry weight showed the same pattern as WG (%). There were no significant differences in growth performance among the groups fed the AsA levels at 87, 759 and 1697 mg kg?1 at the termination of feeding trial. Broken‐line regression analysis indicated that 91.8 mg AsA kg?1 in the diet was the optimum for post‐larval shrimp. On the other hand, dietary level of more than 800 mg AsA kg?1 was needed to ensure high resistance to stressful conditions such as osmotic and formalin stressors.  相似文献

The nutritional effect of vitamin E in dietsfor Litopenaeus vannamei postlarve (PL19)was investigated. Four formulated diets withdifferent combinations of α-tocopherylacetate (α-TA), ascorbic acid (AA) andhighly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA) weretested, using four replicates. No significant differences in survival wereobserved among treatments after 34 days offeeding. However, shrimp fed with a dietcontaining 2% fish oil (low n-3 HUFA content),200 mg.kg?1 α-TA and100 mg.kg?1 AA (diet H/E/C) showedsignificantly better growth than those fed adiet supplemented with 5% fish oil (high n-3HUFA content), 200 mg.kg?1 α-TA and100 mg.kg?1 AA (diet H+/E/C). Shrimp fedwith a diet containing 5% fish oil,900 mg.kg?1 α-TA and100 mg.kg?1 AA (diet H+/E+/C) showed a significantly higher tissue level of n-6 PUFAthan postlarvae fed diet H+/E/C. No definiteconclusion could be drawn about a possibleinteraction between α-TA and AA, since acomparison of the diet containing 5% fish oil,200 mg.kg?1 α-TA and700 mg.kg?1 AA (H+/E+/C+) and the dietH+/E/C did not show any significant differencesin any of the measured parameters. Theantioxidative status of the shrimp tissue(measured by means of the thiobarbituric acid(TBA) assay and expressed as nM malonaldehyde(MA) per gramme dry weight) was equal for alltreatments. Nevertheless, there was a slightlylower MA value with the diet H+/E/C+,indicating that AA may be an effectiveantioxidant in the aqueous phase and at thewater/lipid interface of the tissue. The tissuelevels of α-T and AA were highlydependent on the amounts in diets and nocorrelation between α-T and AAincorporation could be observed.  相似文献

Dietary ascorbic acid requirement of juvenile ayu (Plecoglossus altivelis)   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
To investigate dietary ascorbic acid (AA) requirement of juvenile ayu (Plecoglossus altivelis) weighing 1.27 ± 0.02 g, eight diets were formulated with graded levels (0, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320, 640 and 1280 mg AA kg?1) of AA supplied as ascorbyl polyphosphate. Each experimental diet was fed to four‐replicate groups to apparent satiation three times a day for 8 weeks. At the end of the feeding trial, fish fed AA‐deficient diet showed visible AA deficiency signs and low survival. Based on the four‐parameter saturation kinetics model, the calculated AA requirement levels for each dose‐dependent response [weight gain, hepatic AA concentration, hydroxyproline (HyPro) concentration in skin and HyPro concentration in backbone] were 116, 226, 47 and 35 mg kg?1, respectively. Based on the maximal growth performance, a level of 116 mg AA kg?1 was recommended for commercial diet of juvenile ayu. To maintain tissue HyPro saturation and avoid AA deficiency symptoms, the minimum required dietary AA level was 47 mg kg?1. Hepatic AA saturation was considered as the most stringent criterion for determination of AA requirement.  相似文献

A 60‐day experiment was carried out to study the effects of vitamin C [ascorbic acid (AA)] on the growth, digestive enzyme activities and intestinal microbial population. Diets with six levels (0.0, 21.4, 45.1, 69.5, 93.6 and 142.1 mg AA kg?1 diet) of supplemental ascorbyl polyphosphate were fed to juvenile Jian carp (Cyprinus carpio var. Jian) (12.63±0.02 g). The specific growth rate (SGR), feed efficiency and productive protein value were significantly improved with increasing AA levels up to 45.1 mg AA kg?1 diet (P<0.05). The hepatopancreas and muscle AA concentrations were increased with increasing dietary AA levels up to 69.5 and 45.1 mg kg?1 diet respectively (P<0.05). The activities of intestinal trypsin, chymotrypsin, lipase, α‐amylase, Na+, K+‐ATPase, alkaline phosphatase, gamma‐glutamyl transpeptidase and creatinkinase were all positively affected by the AA supplementation (P<0.05). Intestinal Lactobacillus and Bacillus were increased with increasing AA levels up to 45.1 mg AA kg?1 diet (P<0.05), while intestinal Escherichia coli decreased with increasing AA levels up to 45.1 mg AA kg?1 diet (P<0.05). In conclusion, AA improve the digestive capacity and intestinal microbial population of Jian carp, and the dietary AA requirement for SGR of juvenile Jian carp was 40.9 mg AA kg?1 diet.  相似文献

Basal diet containing 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 g kg?1 mixture of inosine monophosphate (IMP), adenosine monophosphate (AMP), guanosine monophosphate (GMP), uridine monophosphate (UMP) and cytidine monophosphate (CMP) (1 : 1 : 1 : 1 : 1) (mixed‐NT; Experiment 1) and 1.5 g kg?1 from each nucleotides and mixed‐nucleotides (NT; Experiment 2) were fed to triplicate groups of grouper for 8 weeks. Basal diet without NT was used as control in both Experiments. In Experiment 1, fish fed the diet with 1.5 g mixed‐NT kg?1 had higher (P < 0.05) weight gain (WG) than the control group. The superoxide anion (O2?) production ratio was higher in fish fed diets with 1.0–1.5 g mixed‐NT kg?1 than the fish fed diets with ≤0.5 g mixed‐NT kg?1. In Experiment 2, fish fed diets with nucleotides had higher WG than the control group. The O2? production ratio was higher in fish fed the diet with 1.5 g AMP kg?1, followed by fish fed diets with 1.5 g UMP and mixed‐NT kg?1, and lowest in the control group. These results suggest that growth and immune responses were enhanced in grouper fed diet with 1.5 g mixed‐NT kg?1 diet. Diet with 1.5 g kg?1 of AMP seems to be more beneficial on the immune responses in fish than other nucleotides.  相似文献

Effects of dietary ascorbic acid (AA) supplementation were carried out on growth performance and physiological indices in juvenile beluga Huso huso fed different levels of dietary L‐ascorbyl‐2‐polyphosphate as AA source consisting of 0 (control), 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1600 mg AA kg?1 diet for 16 weeks. No significant differences were found in growth performances between treated groups except for condition factor. Using AA caused significant differences in haemoglobin, number of red blood cells, white blood cells, aspartate aminotranspherase and lactate dehydrogenase, while no significant difference was found in haematocrit, mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration, differential white blood cells count and alkaline phosphatase activity at the end of the experiment. Lysozyme activity after 8 weeks was significantly affected by dietary treatments with the lowest value in fish fed control diet, but not at completion of 16‐week feeding trial. Liver AA concentration showed a significant increase in correlation with dietary AA increase. Air exposure stress test showed significant differences among the treatments in case of cortisol and glucose concentrations. Also between pre‐ and post stress, significant changes were observed in some of treatments. The lowest and highest levels of cortisol were 9.2 ± 3 (in 200 mg kg?1) and 16.8 ± 5.1 ng mL?1 (in control), 6 h post stress (P < 0.05) respectively. Also, the lowest and highest levels of glucose were measured in fish fed 200 and 800 mg AA kg?1 respectively. The obtained results showed that most growth parameters were not affected by dietary AA, but some physiological and immunological parameters of this species were influenced by this vitamin. We suggest that under rearing conditions, AA should be added to the diet especially during early life stages for improving health status and resistance to stressors.  相似文献

This study was conducted to estimate the dietary biotin requirement for maximum growth of zebrafish Danio rerio. Six isonitrogenous and isocaloric purified diets containing 0.031 (biotin‐unsupplemented diet), 0.061, 0.263, 0.514, 1.741 and 2.640 mg biotin kg?1 diet were fed in triplicate tanks for a total of 12 weeks to juvenile zebrafish (initial mean body mass 0.13 ± 0.001 g). From 4 weeks of feeding, fish fed diets with ≤0.061 mg biotin kg?1 showed biotin deficiency signs, such as retarded growth and skeletal deformity, was observed on some dead fish. At the end of the study, gill disorders were observed on some fish and liver glycogen accumulation were also observed in fish fed these diets. Fish fed the biotin‐unsupplemented diet exhibited a lower final body weight, protein efficiency ratio and feed utilization than the fish fed the biotin‐supplemented diets, whereas the highest values were observed with the diet containing 0.51 mg biotin kg?1 diet (P < 0.05). A linear relationship (r= 0.77; P < 0.0001) was observed between whole‐body biotin content and dietary biotin level. A broken‐line analysis indicated that the optimum dietary biotin content for maximal growth expressed as final body weight is 0.51 mg kg?1 diet.  相似文献

An 8‐week feeding trial was conducted to establish the dietary vitamin E requirement of juvenile cobia. The basal diet was supplemented with 10, 20, 30, 40, 60, 120 mg vitamin E kg?1 as all‐rac‐α‐tocopheryl acetate. The results indicated that fish fed the diets supplemented vitamin E had significantly higher specific growth rate, protein efficiency ratio, feed efficiency and survival rate than those fed the basal diet. It was further observed that vitamin E concentrations in liver increased significantly when the dietary vitamin E level increased from 13.2 to 124 mg kg?1. Fish fed the basal diet had significantly higher thiobarbituric acid‐reactive substances concentrations in liver than those fed the diets supplemented vitamin E. Fish fed the diets supplemented with 45.7 and 61.2 mg kg?1 vitamin E had significantly higher red blood cell and haemoglobin than those fed the basal diet, while fish fed the diets supplemented with 61.2 and 124 mg kg?1 vitamin E had higher immunoglobulin concentration than those fish fed the basal diet. Lysozyme and superoxide dismutase were significantly influenced by the dietary vitamin E level. The dietary vitamin E requirement of juvenile cobia was established based on second‐order polynomial regression of weight gain and lysozyme to be 78 or 111 mg all‐rac‐α‐tocopheryl acetate kg?1 diet, respectively.  相似文献

A 12‐week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary vitamin C on growth performance, antioxidant status and innate immune responses in juvenile yellow catfish, Pelteobagrus fulvidraco. Six isonitrogenous and isolipidic diets (44% crude protein and 7% lipid) were formulated to contain six graded dietary vitamin C (ascorbate‐2‐poly‐ phosphate, ROVIMIX® STAY‐C® 35) levels ranging from 1.9 to 316.0 mg kg?1 diet. The results of present study indicated that fish fed the lowest vitamin C diet had lower weight gain (WG) and specific growth rate (SGR) than those fed the diets supplemented vitamin C. WG and SGR did significantly increase with dietary vitamin C levels increasing from 1.9 to 156.5 mg kg?1. However, no significant increase was observed with further dietary vitamin C levels increasing from 156.5 to 316 mg kg?1. Survival, protein efficiency ratio and feed efficiency were not significantly affected by the dietary vitamin C levels. The activities of serum superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase significantly increased when dietary vitamin C levels increased from 1.9 to 156.5 mg kg?1, fish fed the lowest vitamin C diet had higher serum malondialdehyde content than those fed the diets supplemented with vitamin C. Fish fed the diet containing 156.5 mg kg?1 vitamin C had the highest lysozyme, total complement activity, phagocytosis index and respiratory burst of head kidney among all treatments. The challenge test with Aeromonas hydrophila indicated that lower cumulative survival was observed in fish fed the lowest vitamin C diet. Analysis by broken‐line regression of SGR and lysozyme activity indicated that the dietary vitamin C requirement of juvenile yellow catfish was estimated to be 114.5 and 102.5 mg kg?1 diet, respectively.  相似文献

The study was conducted to determine the effect of dietary supplementation of vitamin C on anti‐acid stress ability in juvenile soft‐shelled turtle. The soft‐shelled turtles were fed vitamin C supplemented diets at levels of 0, 250, 500, 2500, 5000 and 10 000 mg kg?1 for 4 weeks. The results showed that the phagocytic rate of blood cell in the group fed vitamin C deficient diets, the serum bacteriolytic activity in the two groups fed vitamin C supplemented diet at 0 and 250 mg kg?1 and the serum bactericidal activity in all groups after acid stress significantly decreased compared with those of before stress (P < 0.1). The phagocytic rate of blood cells in the two groups fed vitamin C supplemented diet at 2500 and 5000 mg kg?1 were significantly higher than those of the four groups fed at 0, 250, 500 and 10 000 mg kg?1 (P < 0.01). The serum bacteriolytic activity in the groups fed vitamin C supplemented diet at 500, 2500, 5000 and 10 000 mg kg?1 were significantly higher than that of the group fed vitamin C deficient diets (P < 0.05), and the two groups fed vitamin C at 2500 and 5000 mg kg?1 were significantly higher than those of the groups fed at 250 and 10 000 mg kg?1 (P < 0.05). The serum bactericidal activities in the four groups fed vitamin C supplemented diet at 500, 2500, 5000 and 10 000 mg kg?1 were significantly higher than those of the two groups fed at 0 and 250 mg kg?1 diet (P < 0.01), and the two groups fed vitamin C at 2500 and 5000 mg kg?1 were significantly higher than those of the two groups fed at 500 and 10 000 mg kg?1 (P < 0.1). These results suggest that supplementation of vitamin C higher than 250 mg kg?1 is necessary to reduce the adverse effects of acid stress.  相似文献

An experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary iron supplement on growth, haematology and microelements of juvenile grouper, Epinephelus coioides. Casein–gelatine‐based diets supplemented with 0, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 mg kg−1 iron from ferrous sulphate were fed to grouper (mean initial weight: 21.0 ± 0.2 g) for 8 weeks. Weight gain was highest in fish fed the diet supplemented with 100 mg kg−1 iron, intermediate in fish fed diets with 50, 150, 200 and 250 mg kg−1 iron and lowest in fish fed the basal diet. Feed efficiency followed a similar trend except that the lowest value was in fish fed the basal diet and the diet supplemented with 250 mg kg−1 iron. Hepatic iron was highest in fish fed diets supplemented with iron ≥100 mg kg−1, followed by fish fed diet with 50 mg kg−1 iron and lowest in fish fed the basal diet. The whole‐body iron was lowest in fish fed the basal diet but not significantly different from other groups, as judged by anova . Iron supplement to the basal diet had no significant effect on haematological parameters (red blood cell count, haematocrit and haemoglobin), hepatic copper concentration or manganese, zinc concentration in liver and whole body. Broken‐line analysis of hepatic iron indicated that iron supplementation of 100 mg kg−1 satisfied the hepatic iron storage and that further supplementation did not expand the iron status.  相似文献
