β-1,3-Glucan at different dietary doses was administered to enhance the growth, immunity, and survival against nitrite stress in Pacific white shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei. Four different diets supplemented with 0, 250, 500, or 1,000 mg of β-1,3-glucan kg−1 diets were fed to L. vannamei. Growth performance (weight gain and survival rate), physiological conditions (blood total protein, glucose, lactate, triacylglycerols, cholesterol levels) and immunological responses (superoxide dismutase, catalase, lysozyme, acid phosphatase, and alkaline phosphatase activities) of shrimp were recorded after 84-day feeding and 120 h after exposed to nitrite-N. After 84-day feeding, 250 mg kg−1 β-1,3-glucan diet resulted in better weight gain (P < 0.05). Before the nitrite stress, blood lactate, triacylglycerols, and cholesterol level in shrimp fed with 250 mg kg−1 β-1,3-glucan diet were significantly higher than those observed in shrimp fed with other diets (P < 0.05). Higher activities of catalase, lysozyme, and alkaline phosphatase were observed in shrimp fed with 500 or 1,000 mg kg−1 β-1,3-glucan diet as compared to those obtained in shrimp fed with other diets (P < 0.05). After 120-h nitrite stress, blood protein, lactate, superoxide dismutase, catalase, and alkaline phosphatase activities in shrimp fed with 500 or 1,000 mg kg−1 β-1,3-glucan were significantly higher than those observed in shrimp fed with other diets (P < 0.05). Glucose and triacylglycerol levels of shrimp fed with 500 or 1,000 mg kg−1 β-1,3-glucan were significantly lower than those observed in other diets (P < 0.05). In shrimp fed with 500 and 1,000 mg kg−1 β-1,3-glucan and 120-h after nitrite stress, the mortality was significantly lower than that observed in shrimp of control. Together, in this 84-day feeding trial, 250 mg kg−1 β-1,3-glucan improved growth, whereas 500 mg kg−1 β-1,3-glucan preferentially improved nitrite resistance, probably through accelerating energy metabolism and activating immune system.  相似文献

The effect of prebiotic xylooligosaccharides (XOS) on the growth performance and digestive enzyme activities of the allogynogenetic crucian carp, Carassius auratus gibelio, was investigated. XOS was added to fish basal semi-purified diets at three concentrations by dry feed weight: diet 1, 50 mg kg−1; diet 2, 100 mg kg−1; diet 3, 200 mg kg−1, respectively. Twelve aquaria (n = 20) with three replicates for each treatment group (diets 1–3) and control treated without XOS were used. Weights of all collected carp from each aquarium were determined at the initial phase and at the end of the experiment, and the carp survival was also determined by counting the individuals in each aquarium. After 45 days, there were significant differences (P < 0.05) in the relative gain rate (RGR), and daily weight gain (DWG) of diets 1–3 were compared with the control. However, the survival rate was not affected (P > 0.05) by the dietary treatments. For enzymatic analysis, dissection produced a crude mixture of intestine and hepatopancreas of each segment to measure. The protease activity in the intestine and hepatopancreas content of fish in diet 2 (487.37 ± 20.58 U g−1 and 20.52 ± 1.93 U g−1) were significantly different (P < 0.05) from that in the control (428.13 ± 23.26 U g−1 and 12.81 ± 1.52 U g−1) and diet 3 (428.00 ± 23.78 U g−1 and 14.04 ± 1.59 U g−1). Amylase activity in the intestine was significantly higher for diet 2 compared to diet 1 and the control. As for amylase in the hepatopancreas, assays showed higher activity in diet 2 (P < 0.05) compared to the rest.  相似文献

Teleost fish lack the enzyme for endogenous synthesis of ascorbic acid (AA), an essential micronutrient for fish. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of higher levels of dietary vitamin C on growth, nutritional quality, and immunomodulation in the Indian major carp, rohu (Labeo rohita). Four groups of L. rohita were fed experimental diets containing either no vitamin C (control) or supplemented with vitamin C at 500 mg kg−1 (Exp-1), 1000 mg kg−1 (Exp-2), or 1500 mg kg−1 (Exp-3) for 60 days. Growth parameters (NWG, ADG, and SGR), serological parameters (TSP, TSA, TSG, and A:G), haematological parameters (TLC, TEC, Hct, MCV, and MCH), and different non-specific immunological parameters (PR, PI, respiratory burst activity, and bactericidal activity) were evaluated during the experimental trial. Fish fed a vitamin C-supplemented diet showed higher specific growth rate (SGR) up to 1000 mg kg−1 compared with control fish. Different haematological and serological parameters along with non-specific immune parameters were influenced by vitamin C supplementation. Among the non-specific immune parameters phagocytic activity (PR and PI) and respiratory burst activity (NBT cells) were significantly (P ≤ 0.05) enhanced by increasing doses of vitamin C supplementation. Higher levels of dietary vitamin C significantly (P ≤ 0.05) enhanced protection against Aeromonas hydrophila (AH1) infection compared with controls. Results from this study help to establish the beneficial effect of vitamin C on growth and immunmodulation in rohu (L. rohita).  相似文献

An experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary chromium picolinate supplement on growth and haematology parameters of grass carp, Ctenopharyngodon idellus. Six diets with increasing dietary chromium picolinate levels 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.8, 1.6 and 3.2 mg kg−1 were fed to triplicate groups of 20 fish (initial weight of 12.78 ± 1.16 g, mean ± SD) in a flow water system for 10 weeks. Fish fed the diet supplemented with 0.8 mg Cr kg−1 had significantly improved weight gain (WG), feed efficiency ratio (FER), protein efficiency ratio (PER) and protein retention (PR). Fish fed high-chromium diets exhibited lower whole-body crude lipid contents than fish fed low-chromium diets. Liver glycogen concentrations for fish fed the diet with 0.2 mg Cr kg−1 was the highest (77.67 mg g−1). Fish fed the diet supplemented with 1.6 and 3.2 mg Cr kg−1 had significantly lower liver glycogen concentrations than other groups (P < 0.05). The highest serum insulin concentrations were observed in fish fed the diet supplemented with 0.8 mg Cr kg−1, but serum insulin concentrations decreased (P < 0.05) when dietary supplementation of chromium was higher than 0.8 mg Cr kg−1. Cholesterol concentrations decreased in direct proportion to dietary chromium level and achieved the lowest level when the fish were fed the 0.8 mg Cr kg−1 diet, but increased when the fish were fed the diet with more than 0.8 mg Cr kg−1 (P < 0.05). Fish fed the diet supplemented with 0.8 mg Cr kg−1 had higher triglyceride and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) concentrations compared to other treatments. The results of the present study suggested that chromium picolinate could modify serum carbohydrate and lipid metabolism profile, and that the optimal dietary chromium level was 0.8 mg kg−1 for grass carp according to growth.  相似文献

In this paper, effects of dietary methylmercury (MeHg) on several blood biochemical parameters including GLU (glucose), LDH (lactate dehydrogenase), AST (aspartate aminotransferase), ALT (alanine aminotransferase), ALP (alkaline phosphatase) and cortisol were investigated in the Beluga sturgeon (Huso huso). Beluga juveniles were fed for 32 days on four diets containing MeHg (control: 0.04 mg kg−1; low: 0.76 mg kg−1; medium: 7.88 mg kg−1; and high 16.22 mg kg−1 treatment). Significant increases (P < 0.05) were observed in all biochemical parameters, except ALP levels, which decreased significantly (P < 0.05) compared to the control group with either dose- or time-dependent effects. These results suggest that long-term dietary MeHg exposure may affect metabolic enzyme activity and glucose levels in Belugas. These findings provide useful information for environmental and fishery officials to apply in future decisions for managing fish resources in Caspian Sea.  相似文献

A 60-days feeding trial was conducted to delineate the effect of both gelatinized and non-gelatinized corn with or without supplementation with exogenous α-amylase at two dietary protein levels (35% and 28%) on dry matter digestibility, digestive enzymes and tissue glycogen content of Labeo rohita juveniles. Three hundred and sixty juveniles (average weight 10±0.15 g] were randomly distributed into 12 treatment groups with each of two replicates. Twelve semi-purified diets containing either 35% or 28% crude protein were prepared by including gelatinized (G) or non-gelatinized (NG) corn as carbohydrate source with different level of microbial α-amylase (0, 50, 100 and 150 mg kg−1). The dry matter digestibility of G corn fed groups was significantly higher (P < 0.05) than that of the NG corn fed groups. Hepatosomatic index (HSI), liver glycogen and intestinal amylase activity of G starch fed groups were significantly higher (P < 0.05) than those of the NG corn fed groups. However, the reverse trend was found for gastrosomatic index (GSI), muscle glycogen and intestinal protease activity. Addition of 50 mg α-amylase kg−1 feed improved the dry matter digestibility of NG starch fed groups, which was similar to that of the G corn fed groups or NG corn supplemented with 100/150 mg α-amylase kg−1 feed. HSI, liver glycogen and intestinal amylase activity were significantly increased (P < 0.05) at minimum level of α-amylase in the feed (50 mg kg−1) and did not increase due to further inclusion of amylase in the diet. Supplementation with α-amylase at 50 mg kg−1 increased the intestinal amylase activity beyond which no significant changes were observed. Protease activity of liver and intestine was highest (P < 0.05) in higher crude protein (CP) fed groups, but protease activity of the intestine was significantly higher in the α-amylase supplemented groups. Hence, it was concluded that feed with 28% CP containing either G corn without α-amylase or NG corn with 50 mg α-amylase kg−1 may be used as the alternative carbohydrate source for L. rohita juveniles.  相似文献

Two gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) isoforms were identified in the beluga (Huso huso) brain by cDNA sequencing: prepro-mammalian GnRH (mGnRH) and prepro-chicken GnRH-II (cGnRH-II). The nucleotide sequences of the beluga mGnRH and cGnRH-II precursors are 273 and 258 base pairs (bp) long, encoding peptides of 91 and 86 amino acids, respectively. To investigate the effect of methylmercury (MeHg) on GnRH gene expression, animals were fed with four diets containing increasing levels of MeHg (0 mg kg−1 [control]; 0.76 mg kg−1 [low]; 7.8 mg kg−1 [medium]; 16.22 mg kg−1 [high]) for 32 days. The effects of MeHg on brain GnRH mRNA levels were evaluated by real-time PCR. A significant decrease in brain mGnRH and cGnRH-II mRNA levels were detected in fish receiving high dietary MeHg dose compared to controls on day 11 (P < 0.05). On day 18 and 32, all treatment groups had significantly lower brain mGnRH and cGnRH-II mRNA levels compared to the control group (P < 0.05). These findings demonstrate a disruptive role of MeHg on the level of brain mGnRH and cGnRH-II mRNAs in immature beluga.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Angelica sinensis polysaccharide (ASP) supplemented in diet on the innate cellular immune response and disease resistance in grouper, Epinephelus malabaricus. Fish were fed diets containing different doses of ASP (0, 500 and 3,000 mg kg−1 diet) for 12 weeks. After 12 week feeding, the respiratory burst activity, phagocytic activity, and leukocytes proliferation in head kidney were assayed. The functional immunity in terms of cumulative mortality was also assessed by a challenge with live Edwardsiella tarda. Results showed that the respiratory burst activities in ASP-supplemented groups were increased significantly. The respiratory burst index was the highest in fish-fed 3000 mg kg−1 diet and the lowest in control. The phagocytic activities in ASP-supplemented groups were significantly higher than that of control. No significant difference in phagocytic activity was observed between ASP-supplemented groups. ASP stimulated the head kidney leukocytes proliferation significantly, despite the absence of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or not. The cumulative mortalities of fish fed with 3000 mg ASP kg−1 diet were significantly lower than those fed with 500 mg ASP kg−1 diet and control diet after 96 h of challenge. In conclusion, dietary ASP enhanced some cellular immune parameters and disease resistance against E. tarda in grouper.  相似文献

An 15 week two set of feeding experiments were conducted to determine the dietary niacin requirement of Indian major carp fingerlings Labeo rohita and Cirrhinus mrigala, using casein gelatin–based diet. In both experiments, six isonitrogenous (40%) and isoenergetic (15.35 kJ g−1) test diet, with graded levels of niacin (0–50 mg kg−1 dry diet) in gradation of 10 mg kg−1 dry diet, were formulated. In first experiment, fingerling of L. rohita (4.20 ± 1.22 cm; 0.632 ± 0.67 gm) were randomly stocked, in triplicate groups, in 55-L indoor polyvinyl flow-through system (1.5 L min−1) and fed experimental diet at 0800 and 1600 h. Maximum live weight gain (1214%), feed conversion ratio (1.55) and protein efficiency ratio (1.60) were recorded at 30 mg dietary niacin diet. In second experiment, C. mrigala (4.50 ± 1.25 cm, 0.665 ± 0.88) were stocked in same setup. At the end of experiments, maximum live weight gain (1248%), FCR (1.47) and PER (1.70) occurred at 30 mg dietary niacin diet. However, the weight gain, FCR and PER data were analyzed by polynomial regression analysis indicating the requirement of niacin for L. rohita at 36.69, 33.06 and 32.0 mg kg−1, respectively, and for C. mrigala at 35.19, 28.69 and 27.70 mg kg−1 of dry diet, respectively. Whole body composition also showed significant (P < 0.05) differences among each other. On the basis of regression analysis of growth data, it is recommended that the diet for fingerlings should contain niacin at 33 and 30 mg kg−1 dry diet for L. rohita and C. mrigala, respectively.  相似文献

The effects of dietary mannan oligosaccharides (MOS) on the survival and growth of Astacus leptodactylus juveniles were evaluated. Experimental diets were prepared by using supplementation of 0 (Control), 1.5, 3.0, and 4.5 g MOS kg−1 commercial trout larvae diet containing 43 g kg−1 protein and 15.74 g kg−1 lipid. A. leptodactylus juvenile with an average total length of 3.6 ± 0.46 cm (TL) and average weight of 1.25 ± 0.43 g was stocked in 0.2-m2 aquariums at a rate of 50 crayfish/m2 and reared for 60 days at 22.8°C. The experiment consisted of four treatments with three replicates each. Each aquarium contained ten crayfish. Crayfish juvenile fed with 0, 1.5, 3.0, and 4.5 MOS attained 6.15 ± 0.49, 5.94 ± 0.29, 7.34 ± 0.39, and 5.94 ± 0.27 cm final total length and 50, 56.67, 46.67, and 50% survival rates, respectively. Moreover, molting frequencies in 0, 1.5, 3.0, and 4.5 g kg−1 MOS groups were detected as 44.44, 61.11, 83.33, and 38.88%, respectively. At the end of the experiment, a general enhanced growth performance (P < 0.05) and feed conversion ratio were observed in crayfish fed on the diet containing 3.0 g kg−1. Crayfish juveniles fed with 3.0 g kg−1 MOS had the highest final length (7.34 ± 0.39 cm), although their survival was the lowest (46.67%) compared to other treatments but not significant. Specific growth rates were significantly different (P < 0.05) among the treatment groups at the end of the 60-day experiment. There were no significant differences (P > 0.05) in percentage moisture, protein, and ash (wet-weight basis) in the tail meat of A. leptodactylus juvenile among treatments (diet) that averaged 82.3, 16.1, and 1.2%, respectively. However, lipid value was significantly different among the diets P < 0.05), with values between 0.13 and 0.32. From the current results, it could be advised to use MOS at the rate of 3.0 g kg−1 in A. leptodactylus juvenile diets.  相似文献

Recently, there have been reports of increasing amounts of mercury (Hg) in muscles of beluga (Huso huso, Brandet 1869) in the Caspian Sea which exceeds its guideline level for food in the UK. Our intensive effort was to investigate the effects of dietary methylmercury (MeHg) on Beluga bioenergetics. Beluga juveniles were fed with four diets containing MeHg (control: 0.04 mg kg−1; low: 0.76 mg kg−1; medium: 7.88 mg kg−1; and high: 16.22 mg kg−1) for 70 days. There were significant differences in food consumption among the treatment groups. After 42 days, all individuals of the high dose died. After 35 and 70 days, all treatment groups (low, medium and high) showed a significant decline in their growth rate, unlike the control group. They also showed considerable lower specific growth rates (SGR) comparing to the control group. All treatment groups assimilated the dietary MeHg into their muscle tissue in a dose-dependent manner. Assimilation percent was significant among the treatment groups at days 35 and 70, but it was lower in the first 35 days than in the second 35 days. The data obtained from the dietary MeHg concentration and bioaccumulation rates were modeled for better natural resources management of the Caspian Sea.  相似文献

Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a very potent antioxidant derived from green tea, was compared with vitamin E in terms of its effects on antioxidant defense and immune response of rainbow trout, by means of a feeding trial of eight weeks. Two of the experimental diets were supplemented with EGCG at either 20 or 100 mg kg−1 diet (which contained only 30% of the intended levels) and the third was provided with 100 mg kg−1 vitamin E but not EGCG. The control diet was not supplemented with the test components. Observation of tissue levels indicated that the high amount of EGCG helped to increase the availability of the lipid-soluble antioxidant vitamin E. The lower levels of lipid hydroperoxide in the liver of fish fed the higher amount of EGCG suggested that it was an effective antioxidant. Considering the immune indices, EGCG and vitamin E at 100 mg (actual amounts 31.9 and 94.1 mg kg−1 diet, respectively) had identical capabilities in improving phagocytic activity and controlling hydrogen peroxide production by leucocytes. However, EGCG could possibly be more effective at enhancing serum lysozyme activity and the alternative complement activity. This work revealed the potential of EGCG as an antioxidant and an immunostimulant for rainbow trout, at least at the inclusion level of 32 mg kg−1 diet.  相似文献

One of the major problems in the shrimp culture industry is the difficulty in producing high-quality shrimp larvae. In larviculture, quality feeds containing a high content of highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA) and ingredients that stimulate stress and disease resistance are essential to produce healthy shrimp larvae. In the present study, Penaeus monodon postlarvae (PL15) were fed for 25 days on an unenriched Artemia diet (control; A) or on a diet of Artemia enriched with either HUFA-rich liver oil of the trash fish Odonus niger (B), probionts [Lactobacillus acidophilus (C1) or yeast-Saccharomyces cerevisiae (C2)] or biomedicinal herbal products (D) that have anti-stress, growth-promoting and anti-microbial characteristics. P. monodon postlarvae fed unenriched Artemia exhibited the lowest weight gain (227.9 ± 8.30 mg) and specific growth rate (9.95 ± 0.05%), while those fed the HUFA-enriched Artemia (B) exhibited the highest weight gain and specific growth rate (362.34 ± 12.56 mg and 11.77 ± 0.08%, respectively). At the end of the 25-day rearing experiment, the shrimp postlarvae (PL40) were subjected to a salinity stress study. At both low and high (0 and 50‰) salinities, the group fed the control diet (A) experienced the highest cumulative mortality indices (CMI) 935.7 ± 2.1 and 1270.7 ± 3.1, respectively. Those fed diet D showed the lowest stress-induced mortality, and CMI were reduced by 31.1 and 32.3% under conditions of low and high salinity stress, respectively. A 10-day disease challenge test was conducted with the P. monodon postlarvae (PL40–PL50) by inoculating the shrimp with the pathogen Vibrio harveyi at the rate of 105–107 CFU/ml in all rearing tanks. P. monodon postlarvae fed probiont-encapsulated Artemia diets (C1 and C2) exhibited the highest survival (94.3 and 82.3%, respectively) and lowest pathogen load (V. harveyi) in hepatopancreas (5.2 × 102 ± 9.0 × 10 and 4.6 × 102 ± 9.0 × 10 CFU g−1, respectively) and muscle (2.0 × 102 ± 6 × 10 and 1.7 × 102 ± 8.6 × 10 CFU g−1, respectively) tissues. The shrimp that were fed the unenriched Artemia (Control; A) showed the lowest survival (26.33%) and highest bacterial load in the hepatopancreas (1.0 × 105 ± 5 × 103 CFU g−1) and muscle (3.6 × 104 ± 6 × 102 CFU g−1). The shrimp fed the herbal product (D)-enriched Artemia also exhibited enhanced survival and reduced V. harveyi load in the tissues tested compared to the control diet (A) group. The results are discussed in terms of developing a quality larval feed to produce healthy shrimp larvae.  相似文献

Diets containing deoxynivalenol (DON) were fed to rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss (Walbaum) for 4 weeks followed by experimental infection (intraperitoneal) with Flavobacterium psychrophilum (4.1 × 106 colony‐forming units [CFU] mL−1). Mortality of rainbow trout fed either 6.4 mg kg−1 DON or trout pair‐fed the control diet was significantly reduced (P < 0.05) in comparison with trout fed the control diet to apparent satiation (<0.1 mg kg−1 DON). In a second experiment, trout were fed one of three experimental diets; a control diet, a diet produced with corn naturally contaminated with DON (3.3 mg kg−1 DON) or a diet containing purified DON (3.8 mg kg−1); however, these fish were not experimentally infected. The presence of DON resulted in significant reduction (P < 0.0001) in feed intake as well as weight gain after 4 weeks. Respiratory burst of head‐kidney leucocytes isolated from rainbow trout fed diets containing purified DON (3.8 mg kg−1) was significantly higher (P < 0.05) at 35 day post‐exposure compared with controls. The antimicrobial activity of DON was examined by subjecting F. psychrophilum in vitro to serial dilutions of the chemical. Complete inhibition occurred at a concentration of 75 mg L−1 DON, but no effect was observed below this concentration (0–30 mg L−1).  相似文献

Growth experiments carried out with two juvenile crayfish species, Astacus leptodactylus Eschscholtz and Pacifastacus leniusculus (Dana), at different temperatures and densities highlighted the problem of cannibalism under conditions aimed at intensifying crayfish production. Cannibalism proved to be much lower in A. leptodactylus than P. leniusculus, suggesting that the former might be the better candidate for astaciculture. In the first of two population survival trials, A. leptodactylus showed a higher survival rate than P. leniusculus, with 26% of P. leniusculus surviving in the first replicate, compared to 42.3% of P. leniusculus, and 40.76% surviving in the second replicate, compared to 47.6% of P. leniusculus. The same trend was observed in the second experiment, with P. leniusculus showing survival rates of 48.5 and 55.3% (first and second replicates, respectively) in comparison to 65.2 and 68.2%, respectively, for A. leptodactylus. It is therefore highly likely that if P. leniusculus were to become established in Turkey, it would outcompete the native A. leptodactylus even if it were not to be devastated by the crayfish plague that has decimated the native species. The experiments also highlighted the problem of differential growth, with some juveniles hardly growing at all while others reached a relatively large size. The range in carapace length (CL) was 9–18 mm for A. leptodactylus and 8.5–18.5 mm CL for P. leniusculus at the end of the first experiment. While both species grew quickly, P. leniusculus hatched earlier, giving it an advantage over A. leptodactylus; consequently, by the end of the summer, the juveniles of the former were larger than those of A. leptodactylus. Specific growth rate values showed that the juveniles of the two species had similar growth rates. The results also revealed that growth was not significantly affected by density in both species at 15°C, but at 25°C, growth was significantly better at a density of 234 juveniles m−2 than at 468 juveniles m−2, and better at 468 juveniles m−2 than at 937 juveniles m−2 (P < 0.01 and P < 0.001, respectively). We conclude that P. leniusculus is a good candidate for aquaculture as it has a rapid growth rate and early hatching and maturity; however, its aggressive behavior may make it a less attractive proposition than A. leptodactylus, which is also fast growing but less aggressive. Octopus maya is a carnivorous species and protein is the main energy source. During the present study, two different dietary protein levels (40 and 60% CP) were offered to octopuses as specifically designed artificial diets, to determine protein needs and the effects on metabolism. Frozen crab (Callinectes spp.) was used as control. Results obtained demonstrated that crab remains as one of the best diets for O. maya. The artificial diet with 60% CP produced a low but positive growth rate, and at times, a physiological response similar to that observed in octopuses fed crabs. The present results show the capacity of O. maya juveniles to adjust their digestive enzymes to different types of food and protein level, and this appears to be well correlated with octopus growth. General proteases and trypsin from the pancreas were well correlated with growth rates. A low activity was observed in octopuses fed 40% PC diet (negative growth rate), while a high activity was present in octopuses fed 60% CP diet and crabs (low and high growth rate, respectively). In contrast, these same enzymes were inducted in the salivary glands of octopuses fed with the diet that promoted weight loss (40% CP diet), while a reduced activity was observed in octopuses fed crabs. Energy budget indicates that the animals ingested more than 1,000 kJ week−1 kg−1; with such energy, octopuses should satisfy their physiological demands such as was observed when animals were fed crab (I = 1,300 kJ week−1 kg−1; P = 834 kJ week−1 kg−1). However, a very low digested energy was observed in octopuses the fed artificial diets, indicating that these could have a factor that limits digestibility.  相似文献

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary thiamin on the physiological status of the juvenile grouper, Epinephelus coioides. Graded levels of thiamin (0.08, 0.50, 2.12, 3.15, 4.63, 12.37 mg thiamin kg−1 diet) were fed to grouper juveniles (mean weight: 16.97 ± 0.14 g) for 10 weeks. Although fish fed the thiamin-deficient (TD) diet showed no obvious symptoms of thiamin deficiency or increased mortality, those fed the lowest doses of thiamin (0.08 and 0.50 mg thiamin kg−1 diet) had significantly decreased transketolase activity in the liver. In addition, the level of liver thiobarbituric acid reactive substances in fish fed the TD diet was 33–67% higher than that in fish with the thiamin-supplemented diet. There were no significant differences in superoxide dismutase activity between the different groups of fish.  相似文献

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary riboflavin on antioxidant defense in the juvenile grouper Epinephelus coioides. Graded levels of riboflavin (0.9, 1.6, 4.4, 6.7, 12.9 and 19.4 mg kg−1 dry diet) were fed to grouper juveniles (mean weight: 14.90 ± 0.46 g) for 12 weeks. Higher levels of liver thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) content were observed in grouper fed low doses (0.9 and 1.6 mg kg−1 diet) of riboflavin. Both liver glutathione reductase (GR) activity and its activation coefficient (GR-AC) poorly responded to riboflavin deficiency. In addition, other indices of the glutathione-dependent defense system, including the activities of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) and glutathione-S-transferase (GST), and the content of glutathione (GSH), were also non-significantly affected by dietary riboflavin levels. However, the activities of liver superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) were significantly lower in fish fed 0.9 mg kg−1 diet, with a positive correlation between the different groups. In conclusion, the present study indicated that the juvenile grouper fed the riboflavin-unsupplemented diet was susceptible to lipid peroxidation (LPO), with lower SOD and CAT activities in the liver. However, the glutathione-dependent defense system of grouper was not affected by dietary riboflavin levels.  相似文献

Fifteen common carp weighing 19.2±2.9 g were reared individually in chambers of a respirometer system which allowed feeding, and continuous measurement of oxygen consumption. The fish were divided into three groups of 5 each, and were given control feed (C group), control feed supplemented with 150 mg kg−1 of Quillaja saponins (QS) (S150 group), and control and the saponin supplemented diet during alternate weeks (S150b group), for 56 days. Supplementation with QS at a level of 150 mg kg−1 caused a significant (P<0.05) increase in metabolic growth rate, food conversion efficiency (FCE), protein productive value (PPV) and apparent lipid conversion (ALC) of carp, even as the metabolic rate was lower than the C group. The efficiency of energy utilisation indicated by parameters such as energy expenditure (EE), energy retention (ER) and amount of oxygen consumed per unit body mass gain (OPM) were also significantly (P<0.05) better in the S150 group. The performance of the S150b group was intermediate between the C and S150 group in this experiment. Possible reasons for the effects of dietary QS are discussed. It was concluded that there has to be continuous dietary supply of QS at the level of 150 mg kg−1, for maximum positive effects of these substances on growth of common carp. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The effects of different ratios of dietary raw to pre-gelatinized starch on the growth performance, feed utilization and body composition of juvenile yellowfin seabream (Sparus latus) were evaluated during a 10-week growth trial. Five isonitrogenous, semi-purified diets containing 200 g kg−1 starch comprising different ratios of raw to pre-gelatinized starch [(in g kg−1)100:100 (diet 1), 150:50 (diet 2), 50:150 (diet 3), 200:0 (diet 4), 0:200 (diet 5), raw:pre-gelatinized] were prepared and fed to triplicate groups of juvenile S. latus. Our results showed that fish fed diet 4 (200 g kg−1 raw starch) had the highest weight gain and specific growth rate, followed by those fed diet 2, diet 1, diet 3 and diet 5. Feed efficiency, protein efficiency ratio and protein productive value in the fish on diets 4 and diet 2, respectively, were significantly higher than those on diets 3 and diet 5, respectively. Body and muscle compositions were unaffected by the different dietary raw to pre-gelatinized starch ratios. Values of hepatosomatic index, intraperitoneal fat ratio, viscerosomatic index and condition factor did not vary among experimental treatments. Plasma indices showed variations, but these were not relative to dietary treatments. In conclusion, the partial or total replacement of raw starch by pre-gelatinized starch in diets for yellowfin seabream did not improve its growth performance and feed utilization.  相似文献
