The communication describes standardization of an efficient in vitro propagation and hardening procedure for obtaining plantlets from field grown culms of Bambusa tulda. Administration for 10 min of 0.05 and 0.1% mercuric chloride to explants collected in winter and summer seasons, respectively facilitated optimum culture establishment and bud break. 0.1–0.2% mercuric chloride in rainy season enhanced aseptic culture establishment but inhibited bud break due to toxicity to explants. MS liquid medium enriched with 100 μM glutamine, 0.1 μM indole-3-acetic acid and 12 μM 6-benzylaminopurine supported maximum in vitro shoot multiplication rate of two-fold. The proliferated shoots were successfully rooted on MS liquid medium supplemented with 40 μM coumarin resulting in a maximum of 98% rooting. The procedure requires 45 days cycle for the in vitro clonal propagation (15 days for shoot multiplication and 30 days for root induction) and 80 days for acclimatized plantlet production.  相似文献

The essential oils of aerial parts of Achillea gypsicola Hub.-Mor., Hypericum scabrum L., Satureja hortensis L., and Origanum acutidens (Hand.-Mazz.) Letswaart were analyzed in this study by GC and GC–MS and their oils were tested for toxicity against broadbean weevil (Bruchus dentipes). A. gypsicola oil contained camphor (40.17%), 1,8-cineole (22.01%), piperitone (11.29%), borneol (9.50%) and α-terpineol (1.56%) as major components. A total of 74 components were identified by GC–MS in H. scabrum oil, including α-pinene (9.26%), terpinen-4-ol (5.12%), camphor (5.94%), δ-cadinene (4.52%), pulegone (4.45%), γ-muurolene (4.12%), pinocarvone (3.97%) and β-caryophyllene (3.42%) as predominant components. The essential oils of O. acutidens and S. hortensis were characterized by high contents of carvacrol (86.99% and 55.74%), γ-terpinene (0.71% and 20.94%), p-cymene (1.95% and 12.30%), α-terpinene (0.13% and 2.04%) and β-caryophyllene (1.30% and 1.08%). All of the essential oils were toxic to adults of B. dentipes and insect mortality increased with increasing concentration of each oil. The oils (20 μl dose) brought about 100% mortality in 36 h. Although desirable insecticidal activities against the pest were achieved with the oils from all four plant species, S. hortensis and O. acutidens oils were more effective, particularly after 6 h of treatment. The current results concluded that the essential oils, in particular O. acutidens and S. hortensis oils, may be used as potential botanical insecticides against B. dentipes.  相似文献

The composition of volatile components of the essential oils extracted from fruits of coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) growing in two different Tunisian regions in both Menzel Temime and Borj El Ifaa was studied by GC and GC–MS. The highest oil yields were observed at final stages of maturity: 0.324 ± 0.09% and 0.327 ± 0.08%, in Menzel Temime and Borj El Ifaa, respectively. Essential oil yields were highly (P < 0.001) affected by the growing region, stages of maturity and their interaction. Essential oil composition changed significantly (P < 0.05) among the different stages of maturity and growing region. Linalool and geranyl acetate were the main compounds at full fruit maturity in the two studied regions. Growing region, stages of maturity and their interaction had a strong effect (P < 0.001) on 35 compounds. α-Pinene, sabinene, limonene, γ-terpinene, cis-dihydrocarvone and geranial were insensible to the regional factor.  相似文献

A high-frequency in vitro rooting method was developed for Bambusa nutans, one of the economically important bamboos in India. Two clones of approximately 10-year-old B. nutans were used for axillary bud proliferation. The effect of carbohydrate source (glucose and sucrose) and auxins (IAA, IBA and NAA) on the in vitro rooting response was evaluated. Rooting percent, mean number of roots and root length were recorded after 14 days of treatment. Successful treatment (49.0 μM IBA and 88 mM glucose in the induction phase for 3 days followed by MS salts with 88 mM sucrose) was repeated four times each with 100 shoots to ascertain the practical utility of the protocol. Addition of glucose along with 49.0 μM IBA during the root induction phase gave 85% rooting success. Anatomical studies in the nodal regions were conducted to determine the effect of glucose on root primordial development and elongation. It was observed that the presence of glucose in the root induction medium is required to recruit more number of root initials. A simple protocol was developed for the large-scale production of B. nutans, where rooting of microshoots developed from mature tissues is always difficult. This study showed that glucose as carbon source and auxin type IBA is essential for in vitro root formation in the cultures raised from mature tissues.  相似文献

In this study, phytochemical and antioxidant properties of anthocyanin-rich mulberry species of Morus nigra L. (black mulberry) and Morus rubra L. (red mulberry) fruits harvested from across Turkey were investigated. Fruit color, total phenolics (TP), total monomeric anthocyanin (TMA), titratable acidity (TA), and individual sugar and organic acid compositions were determined. Total antioxidant capacity (TAC) of fruits was assessed by both the trolox-equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC) and the ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assays. Black mulberry exhibited higher TP, TMA, TAC and TA when compared to red mulberry. The average TP contents of M. nigra and M. rubra were 2737 and 1603 μg gallic acid equivalent in g fresh weight basis (GAE/g fw), respectively. M. nigra had the richest amount of anthocyanin with an average of 571 μg cy-3-glu/g fw. Overall, TAC averaged 10.5 and 12.0 mmol TE/L by the TEAC and FRAP methods, respectively. We found that FRAP, TEAC, TP and TMA were significantly correlated (r = 0.64–0.99) with each other. Fructose (5.27 g/100 mL) and glucose (5.81 g/100 mL) were determined to be the major sugars in both mulberries. M. nigra displayed a higher TA (2.05 g/100 mL) than M. rubra (0.78 g/100 mL), with citric acid as the major acid.  相似文献

The bulb onion (Allium cepa L.) has been cultivated for thousands of years and used as an important component of human diet. Recent studies suggest that onions can be used to cure, reduce, or prevent some of the health problems such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, antidiabetic, asthma, antibiosis, and prebiotic effects due to its high antioxidant effect. In this study, we determined the antioxidant capacities of a wide range of onion cultivars; nine commercial cultivars and five advance selections differing in color. The variables tested include bulb size, scale color, total phenolic (TP), total antioxidant activity determined by both “Ferric reducing ability of plasma” (FRAP) and “Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity” (TEAC). We found that yellow onion had the greatest TP content (3.7 mg GAE/g dw); and, the red group had higher TP mean than the white group (2.2 mg GAE/g dw vs. 1.1 mg GAE/g dw). For the antioxidant capacity measurements, the red group had the greatest means by both methods (15.4 μmol TE/g dw and 9.3 μmol TE/g dw for TEAC and FRAP). Yellow onions had higher TEAC (14.7 μmol TE/g dw vs. 8.7 μmol TE/g dw) and FRAP values (9.8 μmol TE/g dw vs. 5.6 μmol TE/g dw) than white onions. Among the cultivars tested great differences of TP, TEAC and FRAP was observed. The TP content of Me-Tan 88 (8.3 mg GAE/g dw) was two times higher than the yellow group. Yellow color Dayton had the greatest TEAC (20.5 μmol TE/g dw) and FRAP (12.3 μmol TE/g dw) means followed by yellow color Me-Tan 88 (19.4 and 11.4 μmol TE/g dw). The two antioxidant measurements were found to be highly correlated (0.99) where absolute values of FRAP were about 40% less than those of TEAC. The values of TEAC and FRAP were significantly correlated by TP with similar rs (0.74 and 0.73, respectively). TP, TEAC and FRAP were significantly and positively correlated to soluble solids (0.41, 0.43, and 0.40, respectively). Our results suggested that the red onions had higher antioxidant activities than yellow and white onions although yellow onions had the richest phenolic contents.  相似文献

Protocols are outlined for the regeneration of Curcuma soloensis, an attractive tropical ornamental plant, from young vegetative bud explants. We used both direct and callus-mediated regeneration techniques to produce material suitable for mass propagation and the development of transgenic plants. During direct plantlet propagation, the presence of thidiazuron (TDZ) in the growing medium induced more than three times as many shoots as 6-benzylaminopurine (BA), with a mean of 18.7 shoots per explant on MS medium containing 2.5 μM TDZ compared to 5.0 shoots with 40 μM BA. Subsequently, the shoots rooted readily on MS basal medium that was free of plant growth regulators. During indirect plantlet regeneration, TDZ combined with BA and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) had significant effects on embryogenic callus induction and multiplication. The frequency of callus formation was 91.1% for explants cultured on MS basal medium supplemented with 2.5 μM TDZ, 2.0 μM BA and 1.2 μM 2,4-D. On average 7.1 shoots were produced per callus mass cultured on MS medium supplemented with 2.5 μM TDZ, 9.0 μM BA and 1.2 μM naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA). Regenerated shoots were transferred to MS medium supplemented with 2.5 μM TDZ, to produce multiple shoots. In vitro cultured plantlets readily acclimatized to greenhouse conditions, showing 100% survival rates in a sphagnum, perlite and sand (1:1:1) medium. These plants were transplanted into pots or planted in the field. The ex vitro acclimated plants grew vigorously and produced showy inflorescences 5–6 months after planting. The high-frequency of shoot multiplication and rapid flowering of tissue-cultured plants indicate that C. soloensis has great potential in the floricultural market.  相似文献

The potentialities of direct somatic embryogenesis and plant regeneration from leaf explants of Limoniumsinensis var. Golden Diamond invitro were investigated. Young whole leaf and cut leaf explants when cultured on MS basal medium supplemented with each of the growth regulators N6-benzyladenine (BA) (0.44–2.2 μM) or thidiazuron (TDZ) (4.54 μM) alone or in combination with a fixed concentration of α-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) (1.07 μM) produced somatic embryos directly. More than 90% of the leaf explants produced white, globular somatic embryos on BA (2.2 μM) and NAA (1.07 μM) supplemented MS basal medium within 1 week of inoculation. Most of the embryos matured further and converted after 8 weeks of culture on the same medium. Histological observation showed that the somatic embryos originated from single cells of epidermal layer of leaf. Histological evidence of formation of shoot and root poles during conversion of the embryos confirmed that these structures were true somatic embryos. After conversion the plantlets were further placed on MS medium containing 0.44 μM BA and 4.5 μM IBA for better shoot and root growth. About 90% of the plantlets transferred to the mixture of soil:perlite:vermiculite (1:1:1) in small plastic pots acclimatized successfully. Of these 85.5% plants survived after transferring into earthen pots containing a mixture of soil, coarse sand and cattle manure (1:1:1) under greenhouse or shady open condition.  相似文献

The effect of a new light source, cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs), on the growth of peony (Paeonia suffruticosa cv. ‘Wu Long Peng Sheng’) plantlets in vitro was examined in six different light quality ratios: 100% red (R), 80% R + 20% blue (B), 70% R + 30% B, 60% R + 40% B, 100% B and white CCFLs. Control illumination was provided by conventional heat-generating plant growth fluorescent lamps (PGFLs). All plantlet growth parameters were as effective under 70% R + 30% B (the best performing CCFL ratio) as they were under PGFLs. Chlorophyll content (a, b and total) was greater in the range of 60–80% R + 20–40% B, although in general there were no significant differences between the best performing R:B ratio and PGFLs. This study indicates that CCFLs can be used as effectively – if not better – than conventional PGFLs to micropropagate this woody ornamental.  相似文献

In this study, the antioxidant components and of six high-lycopene (Lyco 1, Lyco 2, HLY 02, HLY 13, HLY 18 and Kalvert) and one ordinary (Donald) tomato cultivars (cvs) grown simultaneously in an open-field of the Southern Italy were investigated. Lycopene, β-carotene, lutein, total phenols, flavonoids, ascorbic acid (AsA), dehydroascorbic acid (DHA) and total vitamin C (AsA + DHA) contents, as well as hydrophilic and lipophilic antioxidant activities (HAA and LAA) were determined. Significant differences were detected among tomato cvs in all studied antioxidant components, as well as in the antioxidant activity of their hydrophilic and lipophilic fractions. High-lycopene tomato cvs showed higher lycopene, β-carotene, HAA and LAA when compared to cv Donald. Cv HLY 18 showed the highest lycopene and β-carotene content with 232.9 mg/kg fresh weight (fw) and 19.4 mg/kg fw, respectively. Except for Kalvert, high-lycopene tomato cvs also obtained higher total vitamin C levels, with cv HLY 13 top ranking with an average of 352.8 mg/kg fw. LAA ranged from 133.5 μM Trolox/100 g fw in cv Donald to 540.1 μM Trolox/100 g fw in cv Lyco 2 and was significantly correlated to lycopene (r = 0.53; p < 0.01) and β-carotene (r = 0.56; p < 0.01) contents. A variation between 2.7- and 4.0-fold was found in LAA of high-lycopene tomato cvs compared to Donald. HAA was significantly correlated to the amount of DHA (r = 0.61; p < 0.01) and total vitamin C (r = 0.60; p < 0.01). Although these data require confirmation over a longer period of time, this investigation suggests a promising use of the high-lycopene tomato cvs for the production of tomatoes with higher nutritional quality.  相似文献

The goal of this study was to evaluate the effect of cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs) on the growth of Gerbera jamesonii var. ‘Rui Kou’ plantlets in vitro in six different light quality ratios: 100% red CCFL (R), 80% R + 20% blue CCFL (B), 70% R + 30% B, 60% R + 40% B, 100% B and white CCFLs (W). Control radiation was provided by conventional heat-generating plant growth fluorescent lamps (PGFLs). Plantlets under CCFLs showed better plantlet height, SPAD value (i.e., leaf chlorophyll content) and root activity (as assessed by root dehydrogenase activity) than those growing under PGFLs while all other growth parameters were comparable with plants under conventional lighting systems.  相似文献

An innovative in vitro hydroponic culture system used in potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) microtuber production is described in this paper. In vitro potato plantlets, 6–8 cm in height, derived from meristems of potato tubers cultured on 1/2 Murashige and Skoog (MS) nutrient medium after 30 days culture were cut into 1.5 cm stem node segments and used as explants. These stem nodes were cultured in a novel system called in vitro hydroponic culture system containing 1/2 MS medium supplemented with 0.5 μM naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA), 0.3 μM gibberellic acid (GA3), 3.7 μM adenine sulfate, 10% coconut water, 0.5 g/l activated charcoal, 80 g/l sucrose with or without 8 g l−1 agar. Liquid medium was distributed to the carrier substrates in each storey of the system with the aid of capillary robes. In the present paper, the effects of porous material used as substrate carrier and the number of storeys involved in the culture system on microtuber formation and their morphological characteristics are reported. Cotton layer substrate is more stable for organogenesis of potato microtubers. Microtubers, 3.19 mm in diameter and 49.82 mg in weight, could be harvested from a one-storey in vitro hydroponic culture system containing filter paper as substrate. However, microtubers cropped from three-storey in vitro hydroponic culture system with cotton layer were bigger and weightier than those from three-storey system containing filter paper. The above results of the in vitro hydroponic system examined in this study might open up a new approach in producing potato and other hygrophilous microtuber.  相似文献

Aqueous and organic extracts, essential oil as well as the powder of Pituranthos tortuosus (Coss.) Maire were tested on the growth of flax (Linum usitatissimum) and turnip (Brassica rapa) to assess its allelopathic potentialities. Besides, biological potentialities of its essential oil were evaluated by estimating its insecticidal (on Cryptolestes ferrugineus and Culex pipiens) and antifungal (on Fusaruim graminearum and Alternaria sp.) activities. Significant growth inhibition of target species was recorded in the presence of the aqueous and acetone extracts, more than 50% in certain cases. P. tortuosus essential oil also induced growth reduction which was almost total in the presence of a concentration of 4000 ppm. In addition, essential oil caused, for C. ferrugineus, a respective mortality of 50% and of 90% at concentrations of 205.68 and 300.37 μl/l air. Otherwise, 50 ppm was sufficient to induce 100% of mortality of C. pipiens larvae, whereas LC50 and LC90 were 15.46 ppm and 23.62 ppm, respectively. A concentration of 4 μl/ml of P. tortuosus essential oil caused a complete inhibition of the mycelial growth of F. graminearum and Alternaria sp. Results show that essential oil as well as organic extracts could be used for the production of natural bio-pesticides which could reduce our dependence on chemical pesticides.  相似文献

An effective protocol was developed for in vitro regeneration of Psoralea corylifolia through enriched cotton moistened-liquid (CML) and solid culture systems. Prolific adventitious shoot buds were achieved from hypocotyl explants of 2-week-old cultures on enriched CML Phillips and Collins (L2) medium supplemented with different concentrations and combinations of thidiazuron (TDZ), benzyladenine (BA), kinetin (KIN), naphthalene acetic acid (NAA), indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and bavistin (BVN). Combination of 2 μM TDZ, 0.5 μM BA, 100 mg l−1 BVN and 2 μM NAA produced a greater number of adventitious shoots per explant (93.5) when transferred to half-strength enriched solid L2 medium. Regenerated shoots (40–50 mm in length) were exposed simultaneously for rooting as well as hardening in moistened (1/8-L2 basal salt solution with 5 μM IBA and 100 mg l−1 BVN) soil mixture and vermiculite (3:1, v/v). The plants were subsequently established in the field. The survival percentage differed with seasonal variations.  相似文献

A novel micropropagation protocol was established for Capsicum frutescens L. cv. ‘Uchithi’, a pungent chilli cultivar, through induction of axillary shoot proliferation of in vitro raised plantlets by decapitation and using the axillary shoots as explants for multiple shoot bud induction. About 2–6 axillary shoots were induced within 2 weeks when 4-week-old in vitro raised plantlets were decapitated. The axillary shoot-tip explants produced multiple shoot buds when cultured on Murashige and Skoog's (MS) medium containing 8.8–44.4 μM 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) or 9.3–46.7 μM kinetin alone or 8.8–44.4 μM BAP with 4.6 μM kinetin or 5.7 and 28.5 μM indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). Maximum number of shoots (5.6) were induced on medium containing 22.2 μM BAP in combination with 4.65 μM kinetin. The separated shoots rooted and elongated on medium containing 2.8 μM IAA or 2.4–4.9 μM indole-3-butyric acid (IBA). Rooted plantlets were successfully established in the soil. Efficient mass multiplication of this important food crop was achieved.  相似文献

Shoots regenerated adventitiously on epicotyl segments from in vitro seedlings of Emblica officinalis var. ‘Kanchan’. Epicotyls derived from 2-week-old aseptic seedlings were most responsive and produced a maximum number of 303 shoots per explant in Murashige and Skoog (1962) medium (MS) augmented with 8.8 μM N6-benzyladenine (BA) + 1.425 μM indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). Shoots readily elongated in MS lacking growth regulators and rooted in half-salt-strength MS (1/2 MS) supplemented with indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) or α-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA). The highest rooting response was recorded in 1/2 MS containing 14.7 μM IBA. Plantlets were acclimatized inside the green house and 80% of the plantlets survived on transfer to garden soil.  相似文献

Eighteen different cabbage cultivars were assayed for variability between the cultivars for the antioxidant phytonutrients. The Vitamin C content ranged from 5.66 to 23.50 mg/100 g fresh weight. The maximum Vitamin C content was recorded in cultivar Sprint Ball (23.50 mg/100 g), followed by cv. Gungaless (12.86 mg/100 g). The β-carotene content in cabbage ranged from 0.009 to 0.124 mg/100 g fresh weight. The maximum β-carotene content was recorded in cv. Quisto (0.124 mg/100 g), followed by Green Challenger (0.115 mg/100 g) and Rare Ball (0.114 mg/100 g). The minimum values for β-carotene was noted in cv. Pusa Mukta (0.009 mg/100 g). Lutein content was also recorded in the cabbage cultivars, which ranged from 0.021 to 0.258 mg/100 g fresh weight. Maximum lutein content was recorded in Quisto (0.258 mg/100 g) and minimum in Pusa Mukta (0.021 mg/100 g). Vitamin E (dl-α-tocopherol) was estimated only in 14 cabbage cultivars, which ranged from 0.030 to 0.509 mg/100 g fresh weight. Maximum α-tocopherol content was recorded in Rare Ball (0.509 mg/100 g) and minimum in Green Cornell (0.030 mg/100 g). Total phenol content was also estimated only in 14 cultivars and the values ranged from 12.58 to 34.41 mg/100 g fresh weight. Amongst the three different cultivated forms of cabbage, red cabbage had higher Vitamin C (24.38 mg/100 g), dl-α-tocopherol (0.261 mg/100 g) and phenolic content (101.30 mg/100 g) as compared to the white cabbage and savoy cabbage.  相似文献

Studies were carried out on the oil content, fatty acids, tocopherols and sterols in the seeds of two carobs (Ceratonia siliqua), cultivated and wild, from Turkey. The oil yields of cultivated and wild carob seeds were established as 1.73 and 1.82% on a dry weight basis, respectively. The main fatty acids in cultivated and wild carob seed oils are linoleic (49.1% and 51.0%), oleic (30.4% and 26.5%), palmitic (10.3% and 12.0%) and stearic (3.5% and 4.6%), respectively. Tocopherols and phytosterols are important constituents of the unsaponifiable fraction of several seed oils. The major tocopherol in both seed oils was γ-tocopherol. The composition (mg/100 g) was as follows α-tocopherol (69.06 and 70.39 mg/100 g), P8 (22.29 and 24.78 mg/100 g), δ-tocopherol (8.70 and 10.66 mg/100 g), β-tocopherol (2.30 and 1.85 mg/100 g). The total tocopherol contents had 208.45 and 223.14 mg/100 g, respectively. The total content of sterols of both oils were determined as 16400.94 and 30191.55 mg/kg, with β-sitosterol as the predominant sterol that accounted for more than 70% of the total amount of sterols other sterols, campesterol (5.33–5.32%), stigmasterol (0.58–11.43%) 7-avenasterol (3.45–3.03%), 7-stigmasterol (2.16–2.4%), and chlerosterol (1.33–1.0%) were detected in both carob oils. As a result, the accurate quantification of these analyses has very important applications for the nutrition sciences.  相似文献

In vitro seeds germination and plantlet establishment of Labisia pumila were studied in this report. The seeds obtained from the mature fruits of L. pumila were sterilized and cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) solid media supplemented with 1–3 μM of 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) and 3% (w/v) sucrose. The presence of BAP in the medium significantly affects seeds germination. High percentage of seeds germination (up to 90%) was successfully achieved after 2 weeks of culture on medium supplemented with 2 μM BAP. Up to 70% of explants produced shoots through direct regeneration from newly emerged epicotyls after 5 weeks of culture. The average of 8.1 ± 1.0 shoots per explant obtained on media treated with 2 μM BAP. Seedlings were further transferred to growth media fortified with different types of cytokinin. Result observed after 12 weeks showed that medium supplemented with 1 μM zeatin (ZEA) promote the highest growth with an average of 2.9 ± 1.0 cm shoot length and 7.7 ± 3.2 leaves per explant after 12 weeks. In addition, medium added with 2 μM BAP and supplemented with 3–4% (w/v) of sucrose promote the best growth i.e., 3.0 ± 0.6 shoots per explant, 2.27 ± 0.2 cm length and 4.3 ± 0.5 leaves per explant.  相似文献

In the present study, the effects of kinetin (KN; 10 and 100 μM) application under manganese toxicity (Mn; 50, 100 and 250 μM) were investigated, on growth, photosynthetic pigments, total protein, total nitrogen, ammonium (NH4+) content, NH4+ assimilating enzymes and antioxidant system in pea seedlings. The exposure of pea seedlings to Mn and 100 μM of KN alone and in combination, caused decrease in growth, photosynthetic pigments, total protein and total nitrogen contents, and an increase in NH4+ content. However, application of 10 μM of KN together with Mn reduced the Mn toxicity symptoms, promoted the growth of seedlings and led to the decrease in NH4+ content compared to Mn treatments alone. The root and shoot activities of glutamine synthetase (GS), glutamate oxoglutarate aminotransferase (GOGAT) and catalase (CAT) were decreased while glutathione reductase (GR) and dehydroascorbate reductase (DHAR) activities exhibited differential responses when pea seedlings were exposed to Mn and 100 μM of KN. However, under similar treatments, activities of glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) in root and shoot were increased. It was noticed that addition of 10 μM of KN together with Mn, caused significant stimulation in activities of enzymes of NH4+ assimilation and antioxidant defense system even over their respective control values. Non-enzymatic antioxidants (ascorbate and glutathione) in root and shoot of pea seedlings exposed to Mn stress were significantly increased by the addition of 10 μM of KN. Therefore, ameliorative effect of 10 μM of KN against Mn toxicity was observed. This study thus suggests that 10 μM of KN appreciably improves Mn tolerance of pea seedlings under Mn toxicity while reverse effects were exhibited by 100 μM of KN.  相似文献
