Toxicities of indoxacarb on eggs and 5-day-old larvae of diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella L., on cabbage and those of field-aged leaf residues on 5-day-old larvae were determined in the laboratory. The persistence and efficacies of indoxacarb and two other newer insecticides (spinosad and emamectin benzoate) to P. xylostella were tested under field conditions. Results from laboratory bioassays indicate that indoxacarb was highly toxic to P. xylostella larvae through food ingestion, with LC50 and LC90 values of 24.1 and 90.1 mg AI l - 1, respectively. However, indoxacarb had no significant effects on eggs and larvae through direct contact compared with water control. The toxicity of field-aged leaf residues of indoxacarb (0-, 3-, 5-, 7-, 10-, 14-, 17- and 21-day-old residues) declined slowly and gradually under the field conditions in South Texas. Almost all larvae died on day 5 after feeding on the leaves with 0 - 14-day residue, and the mortalities were as high as 94 and 78% for the 14- and 17-day-old leaf residues. With one application, indoxacarb suppressed P. xylostella larvae below the economic threshold for 14 - 21 days. Two field trials showed that indoxacarb at 0.05 - 0.07 kg AI ha - 1 was effective against P. xylostella, providing marketable cabbage with three applications per season. In addition, indoxacarb was as effective as spinosad, and significantly more effective than emamectin benzoate.  相似文献

为明确萝卜、白菜和油菜对小菜蛾实验种群特征的影响,测定了小菜蛾对3种寄主的取食量,通过构建两性生命表比较了不同寄主植物对其实验种群发育与繁殖的影响,并综合生命表与取食量参数,评价了小菜蛾对萝卜、白菜和油菜的危害。结果显示:小菜蛾幼虫在萝卜、油菜和白菜上的取食量差异显著,分别为93.3、105.0和114.7 mg/头。小菜蛾取食萝卜、白菜和油菜后,其幼虫的发育历期差异显著,依次为8.6、8.5和7.6 d;种群内禀增长率依次为0.18、0.23和0.23,周限增长率为1.19、1.26和1.26,净生殖率为18.7、46.1和30.6。取食萝卜的小菜蛾各发育阶段的存活率最低。小菜蛾对各供试寄主实际危害量占理论危害量的百分比为油菜(71.8%)白菜(70.8%)萝卜(53.0%)。表明同一时间内,小菜蛾对油菜危害程度最大,白菜次之,萝卜最小。  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The diamondback moth (DBM), Plutella xylostella (L.), is the most important pest of cruciferous vegetables in the world. Chlorantraniliprole is a novel anthranilic diamide insecticide registered for the control of lepidopteran pests. The dose response, residual toxicity and sublethal effects of chlorantraniliprole applied for 48 h at LC10 (0.02 mg L?1) and LC25 (0.06 mg L?1) on P. xylostella were investigated. RESULTS: Leaf‐dip bioassays showed that chlorantraniliprole had a high level of toxicity against larvae of P. xylostella, and the 48 h LC50 values were 0.23 and 0.25 mg L?1 for a susceptible and field strain respectively. Chlorantraniliprole also had a long‐lasting effect when the larvae were exposed to chlorantraniliprole field sprayed on radish seedlings. Sublethal effects of chlorantraniliprole were indicated by reduced pupation, pupal weight and adult emergence rates. There was also an increase in the duration of female preoviposition period, decreased fecundity and egg hatch and decreased survival rates of the offspring. The mean values of the net reproductive rate (R0), intrinsic rate of increase (rm), finite rate of increase (λ) were significantly lower in the treatment than in control groups. CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate that chlorantraniliprole is effective against P. xylostella. The sublethal concentrations of chlorantraniliprole may reduce the population growth of P. xylostella by decreasing its survival and reproduction, and by delaying its development. 嗜线虫致病杆菌是与昆虫病原线虫共生的细菌,对小菜蛾等多种害虫具有广谱的杀虫活性。为了深入了解该菌的杀虫活性,在室内测定了嗜线虫致病杆菌HB310 ( 简称 Xn HB310)菌株对小菜蛾幼虫的致死和亚致死效应以及持效期。结果表明, Xn HB310菌液对小菜蛾2龄和3龄幼虫72 h的LC50值分别是3.32×104 和8.56×104 CFU/mL,其活性组分主要存在于菌株细胞和经50 kDa超滤膜超滤后的上清液中。此外, Xn HB310菌液对小菜蛾幼虫还表现出明显的拒食活性,其2龄和3龄幼虫的拒食中浓度(AFC50)分别为4.03×105和8.48×105 CFU/mL。将2.24×106 CFU/mL菌液喷施到甘蓝苗上,其在室内的持效期为3~4 d。用亚致死剂量(LC30和LC50)的菌液饲喂小菜蛾2龄幼虫,存活幼虫的生长发育指标、蛹重、雌虫寿命以及成虫产卵量均明显下降,推测这可能导致小菜蛾下一代种群数量减少。研究结果表明,嗜线虫致病杆菌HB310菌株具有开发成为杀虫剂的潜力。  相似文献

A granulosis virus strain infecting Pieris brassicae (PbGV) was isolated from the dry temperate region of northwestern Himalayas as a potential microbial agent for its management. The effect of different botanicals (having insecticidal action against P. brassicae) on the bioefficacy of PbGV was evaluated under laboratory conditions using leaf disc bioassays on cabbage for improving the insecticidal performance of the PbGV. The synergistic action of different botanical extracts was evident in terms of reduction in LC50 values against different botanical extracts. Among different extracts, petroleum-ether extract of neem seed kernel (NSK) when combined with PbGV resulted in maximum reduction of LC50 value (4.39 × 102 occlusion bodies [OBs] ml−1) followed by methanolic extract (7.38 × 102 OBs ml−1) and aqueous extract (9.36 × 103 OBs ml−1) as compared with PbGV alone (1.85 × 104 OBs ml−1) for 2nd instar larvae of the test insect. These trends were found analogous in cases of 3rd and 4th instars of P. brassicae with different solvent extracts of NSK. The other botanicals evaluated, viz., Eupatorium and Artemesia, also resulted in reduction of LC50 values for 2nd, 3rd and 4th instars as compared with PbGV alone when different extracts were combined with virus for bioassays. The studies suggest that the PbGV in combination with botanical pesticides could be more useful as a bio-pesticide against cabbage butterfly (P. brassicae) in IPM programs.  相似文献

The effect of droplet diameter (36-274 μm) and concentration (10-400 g litre?1) of permethrin on the knockdown and mortality of 2nd-instar Plutella xylostella larvae was investigated. Larvae were placed on brussels sprout leaf discs treated with residual deposits of permethrin applied as ULV or emulsion formulations. The LD50 of permethrin decreased with droplet size at all concentrations tested. This effect could not be accounted for solely by increased drop numbers per unit area of leaf, suggesting that for both formulations transfer of permethrin to larvae is more efficient for deposits composed of small drops. The concentration of permethrin in the ULV formulation could be reduced to approach a minimum quantity of toxicant per unit area to maintain 50 per cent mortality. The approach to the minimum dose varied with drop size and drop number per unit leaf area. The ULV formulation was approximately 2.7 times more effective at killing larvae than the emulsion, presumably as a result of greater availability of toxicant and transfer to larvae.  相似文献

Eleven sterol biosynthesis-inhibiting fungicides were compared in experiments to determine the physico-chemical properties required for most effective control of take-all by soil treatment. All were active in agar culture against an isolate of the pathogen which causes take-all, Gaeumannomyces grammis var. tritici, with prochloraz being the most toxic (EC50 0.02 μg ml?1) and PP 969 the least (EC50 0.44 μg ml?1). Penconazole and PP 969 had vapour activity against the fungus in further bioassays on agar. In soil in pots, the most strongly lipophilic compound, buthiobate, was ineffective against take-all in wheat; triadimenol was most effective and, like flutriafol, nuarimol and PP 969, retained some effectiveness after 12 weeks in soil. PP 969, unlike penconazole or nuarimol, was effective in soil treated unevenly by mixing the fungicides in layers. PP 969 is relatively polar, and it is suggested that this property, allowing redistribution in soil water rather than as vapour, outweighed its poor intrinsic toxicity. The ideal soil-treatment fungicide should therefore be polar and also have good intrinsic activity and moderate persistence. None of the compounds tested had all these properties.  相似文献

A GC-MS method capable of completely separating the four pairs of diastereoisomers of cyfluthrin is presented and the method used to show that isomerisation of the cyfluthrin enantiomers occurs in methanol. This methanol-induced isomerisation could also be demonstrated by bioassays using water fleas. The biological activities of the various cyfluthrin isomers contained in the commercial products cyfluthrin and beta-cyfluthrin were assayed using several strains of lepidopteran larvae including Plutella xylostella, Heliothis virescens and Spodoptera frugiperda. With the susceptible strains, the efficiencies of the isomers mixtures of cyfluthrin and beta-cyfluthrin were shown to obey the rules of additivity. However, in tests with a resistant strain of P. xylostella originating from Thailand, the ‘inactive’ isomer III acted synergistically with the active isomer IV. Resistance factors in strains of H. virescens and P. xylostella were found to be higher with cis than with trans isomers. This probably contributes to the superior action of cyfluthrin and beta-cyfluthrin against various pests of agricultural importance since the commercial products contain a high content of trans isomers (‘high trans pyrethroids’).  相似文献

Field isolates of Botrytis cinerea with moderate levels of resistance to dicarboximide fungicides (ED50 1.0–4.9 μg ml?1) and to dicloran were obtained from glasshouses where vinclozolin and iprodione failed to control grey mould. From sensitive and moderatcly-resistant cultures, laboratory isolates were selected on dicarboximide-amended medium, which were highly resistant to these fungicides (ED50 125->3000 μg ml?1). Conidia of all the resistant isolates germinated well on media amended with 100 μg ml?1 of the dicarboximides vinclozolin, iprodione, procymidone and myclozolin and with 5 μg ml?1 of metomeclan. However, the spores of the moderately resistant isolates did not germinate on 100 μg ml?1 metomeclan while the spores of the highly resistant isolates germinated well. Using media with 100 μg ml?1 of metomeclan to distinguish between the two phenotypes, no highly resistant strain was detected among 312 resistant samples from five cucumber glasshouses with a high frequency of moderately resistant strains. From air-borne inoculum of five glasshouses with 100% resistant populations, 1604 colonies were recovered on vinclozolin-amended (100 μg ml?1) medium and none on metomeclan-amended (100 μg ml?1) medium. It is concluded that strains of B. cinerea highly resistant to dicarboximides are absent from field populations.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The toxicity of a fusion protein, ButalT/GNA, comprising a venom toxin (ButaIT) derived from the red scorpion, Mesobuthus tamulus (F.), and Galanthus nivalis agglutinin (GNA), was evaluated under laboratory conditions against several pest insects. Insecticidal activity was compared with SFI1/GNA, a fusion comprising a venom toxin (SFI1) derived from the European spider Segestria florentina (Rossi) and GNA, which has been previously demonstrated to be effective against lepidopteran and hemipteran pests, and to GNA itself. RESULTS: Injection assays demonstrated that both fusion proteins were toxic to lepidopteran larvae, dipteran adults, coleopteran adults and larvae and dictyopteran nymphs. ButalT/GNA was more toxic than SFI1/GNA in all cases. GNA itself made a minor contribution to toxicity. Oral toxicity of ButalT/GNA towards lepidopteran pests was confirmed against neonate Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.), where incorporation at 2% dietary protein resulted in 50% mortality and > 85% reduction in growth compared with controls. ButaIT/GNA was orally toxic to Musca domestica L. adults, causing 75% mortality at 1 mg mL?1 in aqueous diets and, at 2 mg g?1 it was orally toxic to Tribolium castaneum (Herbst.), causing 60% mortality and a 90% reduction in growth. CONCLUSIONS: Toxicity of the ButaIT/GNA recombinant fusion protein towards a range of insect pests from different orders was demonstrated by injection bioassays. Feeding bioassays demonstrated the potential use of the ButaIT/GNA fusion protein as an orally active insecticide against lepidopteran, dipteran and coleopteran pests. These experiments provide further evidence that the development of fusion protein technology for the generation of new, biorational, anti‐insect molecules holds significant promise. © Crown Copyright 2009. 钙粘蛋白(cadherin)是许多鳞翅目昆虫中苏云金芽孢杆菌(Bt)毒素的受体。利用RNAi技术对小菜蛾中肠cadherin基因进行沉默处理,明确了cadherin基因沉默对小菜蛾对Cry1Ac毒素敏感性的影响。结果表明,注射目标dsRNA后的第1天至第5天,Cry1Ac敏感及抗性小菜蛾品系cadherin的基因表达量均显著减少,尤以第2天的减少量最为明显;Cry1Ac毒力测定结果表明,沉默cadherin基因能在一定程度上提高幼虫的成活率,即可使小菜蛾对Cry1Ac毒素的敏感性降低。研究初步表明,cadherin基因的功能与小菜蛾对Cry1Ac毒素的抗性有关。  相似文献

Brassica cultivars with varying degrees of partial plant resistance were fed to larvae (up to 4th instar) of the diamondback moth (DBM), Plutella xylostella, and were bioassayed by topical application of cypermethrin to investigate the interaction of plant resistance with insecticide. Larvae reared on the least preferred brassica, Minicole, showed a significantly higher LD50 value than those on the most preferred brassica, Chinese cabbage. Bioassay of 4th instar DBM larvae fed on artificial diet containing pure compounds of glucosinolates revealed a negative interaction between their susceptibility to cypermethin and certain glucosinolates (in particular sinigrin), suggesting that such compounds induced the production of insecticide-detoxifying enzymes.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: With the objective of exploring the herbicidal activity of substituted aurones, a series of 4,6‐disubstituted and 4,5,6‐trisubstituted aurones were synthesised, and their herbicidal activities against Brassica campestris L. and Echinochloa crusgalli (L.) Beauv. were evaluated in laboratory bioassays. Effects of some of the compounds were evaluated on seed germination. The most active compounds in the laboratory were evaluated in the greenhouse. RESULTS: The compounds were characterised by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and HRMS; some of them were further identified by IR. A (Z)‐configuration was assigned to the aurones, based on spectroscopic and crystallographic data. Bioassay results of root growth showed that the aurones had a moderate herbicidal activity against the dicotyledonous plant Brassica campestris. (Z)‐2‐Phenylmethylene‐4,6‐dimethoxy‐3(2H)‐benzofuranone(6o) was the most active compound, with 81.3 and 88.5% inhibition at 10 and 100 µg ml?1 respectively, equal to the activity of mesotrione. Some of the aurones possessed some inhibition of germination on several plant species. For glasshouse tests, the substituted aurones had lower herbicidal activity than metolachlor and mesotrione. CONCLUSION: It is possible that aurone derivatives, which possess structures different from those of the commercial herbicides, may become novel lead compounds for the development of herbicides against dicotyledonous weeds with further structure modification. The diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella L. (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae), is considered a major pest for crucifers in Malaysia. New control materials are constantly required as P. xylostella population develops resistance to most of the insecticides used against them. In this study, vinegar derived from Azadirachta excelsa (Jack) Jacobs was evaluated against the third-instar larvae of P. xylostella and an appropriate application dose required to control the pest was determined in the laboratory trial. Results indicated A. excelsa vinegar to be a useful control measure, significantly reducing P. xylostella leaf consumption and adult size of P. xylostella. Interestingly, mortality rate of larval, pupae and adult was significantly increased by the application of A. excelsa vinegar. An in-diet EC50 of 80× against larvae was achieved, whilst obvious defects in adult moth were also recorded. The results indicate that A. excelsa vinegar exhibits potential to be used against P. xylostella.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Testing the compatibility of chemical pesticides and fungal biocontrol agents is necessary if these two agents are to be applied together in the integrated management of plant pests and diseases. In this study, the fungicides azoxystrobin (a strobilurin) and flutriafol (a triazole) were tested in vitro for their effects on germination of conidia and mycelial growth of Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill. and in bioassay for their effect on fungal activity against Tetranychus urticae Koch. The fungicides were tested at three different concentrations [recommended rate for field use (1 × X) and the dilutions 10?1× X and 10?2× X]. RESULTS: Flutriafol inhibited growth of mycelia and germination of the fungal conidia at all concentrations tested in vitro, and also reduced the efficacy of B. bassiana in bioassays against mites. The inhibitive effect of azoxystrobin in vitro varied with the concentration applied. A significant effect was observed at 1 × X and 10?1× X concentrations on both the germination of conidia and mycelia growth. At 10?2× X concentration, azoxystrobin showed little effect on B. bassiana. However, when this fungicide was tested in bioassays, none of the concentrations reduced B. bassiana activity against mites. CONCLUSION: Azoxystrobin was most compatible with B. bassiana, while flutriafol was the most harmful. BACKGROUND: Azinphos‐methyl is the main insecticide used to control codling moth on apple and pears in Northern Patagonia. The aim of this study was to evaluate the toxicological and biochemical response of diapausing larvae of codling moth in orchards subjected to different insecticide selection pressure. RESULTS: Dose–mortality assays with azinphos‐methyl in diapausing larvae of Cydia pomonella L. showed significant differences between the LD95 from a population collected in one untreated orchard (2.52 µg moth?1) compared with that in a laboratory‐susceptible population (0.33 µg moth?1). Toxicity to azinphos‐methyl in field populations of diapausing larvae collected during 2003–2005 was evaluated by topical application of a discriminating dose (2.5 µg moth?1) that was obtained from larvae collected in the untreated orchard (field reference strain). Significantly lower mortality (37.71–84.21%) was observed in three out of eight field populations compared with that in the field reference strain. Most of the field populations showed higher esterase activity than that determined in both the laboratory susceptible and the field reference strains. Moreover, there was a high association between esterase activity and mortality (R2 = 0.64) among the field populations. On the other hand, a poor correlation was observed between glutathione S‐transferase activity and mortality (R2 = 0.33) among larvae collected from different orchards. CONCLUSIONS: All the field populations evaluated exhibited some degree of azinphos‐methyl tolerance in relation to the laboratory susceptible strain. Experiments were conducted to assess the efficacy of crude seed extracts of Annona squamosa collected from Ambon (Maluku, Indonesia) against larvae of the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella L., feeding on cabbage. Three greenhouse trials were carried out using aqueous seed extracts and an aqueous emulsion of ethanolic seed extracts. At a concentration of 0.5% (w/v), an aqueous emulsion of an ethanolic seed extract was 2.5 fold more effective than 1% rotenone, a commercial botanical insecticide. Crude aqueous seed extracts showed efficacy comparable to pyrethrum, the most widely used botanical insecticide. Seed extract of A. squamosa is a promising candidate for development as a simple botanical insecticide for local use in rural Indonesia.  相似文献

The tomato borer, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick), was first recorded in Turkey in August 2009 and rapidly became a serious pest in the Mediterranean and Aegean coastal regions in field and greenhouse grown tomatoes. Currently, insecticides are considered one of the major tools for the management of T. absoluta in Turkey. This study, investigated the efficacy of 7 different insecticides, against T. absoluta in laboratory bioassays. To determine the lethal concentration (LC) values and feeding activity of the larvae, tomato leaf parts mined by 1–3 day old L1 larvae were dipped into different insecticide concentrations. Mortality was recorded 5 days after insecticide treatments. Spinosad, chlorantraniliprole + abamectin or indoxacarb treatment resulted in 100% mortality with minimal or no feeding in all populations at their recommended doses of 120, 50.4 and 60 mg a.s. L?1, respectively. In general, the LC99 values of populations for these insecticides were similar and also lower than that of the recommended field doses. The effect of pyridalyl was low, resulting in low mortality with serious feeding damage at the dose of 125 mg a.s. L?1. The efficacies of abamectin, metaflumizone and azadirachtin were found to be moderate to low at the recommended doses (4.5, 240 and 50 mg a.s. L?1, respectively). However, these insecticides may affect pupation and adult emergence rates hence further studies are recommended to investigate these insecticides.  相似文献

为探究Toll-6基因在小菜蛾Plutella xylostella先天免疫中的功能,对克隆鉴定的Toll-6基因序列进行生物信息学分析,利用实时荧光定量PCR检测Toll-6基因的时空表达模式及微生物侵染响应模式,体外验证其在微生物结合、病原相关分子模式(pathogen associated molecular pattern,PAMP)结合和细菌凝集等方面的功能。结果表明:Toll-6基因全长2 313 bp,编码770个氨基酸,预测Toll-6蛋白具有富含亮氨酸重复序列(leucine-rich repeats,LRR)胞外区、跨膜区和Toll/白介素-1受体同源(Toll/interleukin-1 receptor homologous,TIR)胞内等典型Toll受体家族特征;Toll-6基因在不同发育阶段及不同组织中均有表达,其中成虫期表达量最高,4龄幼虫期次之,在4龄幼虫中肠表达量最高;此外,苏云金芽胞杆菌Bacillus thuringiensis菌株Bt8010侵染小菜蛾4龄幼虫6 h后,Toll-6基因表达被显著抑制,而黏质沙雷氏菌Serratia marcesc...  相似文献

The chitin synthesis inhibitor diflubenzuron, applied as a wettable powder spray to woven polypropylene at 100–500 mg m?2, was effective against Dermestes maculatus De Geer for at least 12 weeks. D. maculatus was unable to develop on ox hide dipped in a suspension of diflubenzuron (125 mg litre?1), or on fishmeal dusted at 1–10 mg of active ingredient kg?1. Diflubenzuron prevented the development of infestations of Callosobruchus maculatus (L.) on peas and of Acanthoscelides obtectus (Say) on beans dusted at 1–5 mg kg?1. The compound was also very effective against early instar larvae of Trogoderma granarium Everts on wheat. The persistence and activity of diflubenzuron at low dosage rates against D. maculatus appear to justify larger scale trials.  相似文献
