Seed storability in rice (Oryza sativa L.) is an important agronomic trait. We previously showed a quantitative trait locus of seed storability, qSS‐9, on chromosome 9 in a backcross population of ‘Koshihikari’ (japonica) / ‘Kasalath’ (indica) // ‘Koshihikari’. In this study, fine mapping of the chromosomal location of qSS‐9 was performed. Effect of ‘Kasalath’ allele of qSS‐9 was validated using a chromosome segment substitution line, SL36, which harboured the target quantitative trait loci (QTL) from ‘Kasalath’ in the genetic background of ‘Nipponbare’ under different ageing treatments in different environments. Subsequently, an F2 population from a cross between ‘Nipponbare’ and SL36 was used for fine mapping of qSS‐9. Simultaneously, four subnear isogenic lines (sub‐NILs) that represented different recombination breakpoints across the qSS‐9 region were developed from F3 progeny. Finally, the qSS‐9 locus was located between the Indel markers Y10 and Y13, which delimit a region of 147 kb in the ‘Nipponbare’ genome. These results provide a springboard for map‐based cloning of qSS‐9 and possibilities for breeding rice varieties with strong seed storability.  相似文献

Phosphorous (P) deficiency is a major yield limiting factor in rice (Oryza sativa L.) production. The interspecific New Rice for Africa (NERICA) varieties combine general stress tolerance from African cultivated rice (Oryza glaberrima Steud) with characteristics associated with high yield from O. sativa. However, little is known about their ability to tolerate P deficiency. Here, we examined the variation for tolerance to P deficiency among the 18 upland NERICAs and their parents in multi‐year field experiments. The good performance under P deficiency of the O. glaberrima parent CG 14 and some NERICAs suggested that these tolerant NERICAs contain loci associated with P deficiency tolerance inherited from CG 14. Additionally, four QTL clusters for P deficiency tolerance were detected on chromosomes 4, 6 and 11 using F3 lines derived from the cross between the P deficiency tolerant variety NERICA10 and a Japonica‐type sensitive variety ‘Hitomebore’. These QTLs represent the first step in identifying stress tolerance genes from O. glaberrima that could subsequently be used to enhance P deficiency tolerance in O. sativa.  相似文献

We have identified a locus for asynchronous heading in rice. The length of heading period in a plant was measured as the indicator of asynchronous heading in 98 backcross inbred lines (BILs). These lines were derived using a single-seed descent method from a backcross of (japonica Nipponbare/indica Kasalath)/Nipponbare, and we used this mapping population in quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis. We located a single QTL related to asynchronous heading (qah7) in the region of R2401–C39 on chromosome 7, and its contribution to the total variation was 0.14 (r2), with the positive effect due to the Kasalath allele. A near isogenic line (NILah7) that carries a Kasalath chromosomal segment corresponding to qah7 in the Nipponbare genetic background was selected and analyzed to identify a locus for asynchronous heading. The length of heading period in NILah7 was significantly longer (P < 0.001) than that in Nipponbare.  相似文献

Cold tolerance is a complex trait, and QTL pyramiding is required for rice breeding. In this study, a total of seven QTLs for cold tolerance in the Japonica rice variety ‘Nipponbare’ were identified in an F2:3 population. A stably inherited major QTL, called qCTS11, was detected in the region adjacent to the centromere of chromosome 11. In a near‐isogenic line population, the QTL was further dissected into two linked loci, qCTS11.1 and qCTS11.2. Both of the homozygous alleles of qCTS11.1 and qCTS11.2 from ‘Nipponbare’ showed major positive effects on cold tolerance. Through pyramiding the linked QTLs in the cold‐sensitive Indica rice cultivar ‘93‐11’, we have developed a new elite, high‐yielding Indica variety with cold tolerance.  相似文献

One hundred and sixty‐seven rice varieties/laudraces from 23 different rice‐growing countries were used for studying the relationship between the amylose content (AC %) and paste viscosity parameters (RVU) through Pearson correlation. AC and paste viscosity parameters were measured using Auto Analyser and Rapid Visco Analysers respectively. Based on all five RVA pasting properties, i.e. peak viscosity (PV), minimum viscosity (MV), breakdown (BD), final viscosity (FV) and setback (SB), the simple paired t‐test (at P = 0.05) was carried out to identify varieties that showed non‐significant differences (similar) from the check variety, separately for each of the four AC groups, e.g. Waxy rice AC (0–8%, n = 21) –‘IR29’ (Philippines); Low AC (8.1–16%, n = 58) –‘Koshihikari’ (Japan); Intermediate AC (16.1–24%, n = 64) –‘Local Sadri’ (Iran); high AC (>24.1%, n = 24) –‘Kasalath’ (India). Significant variation among the rice varieties for AC and pasting properties were observed. Means of the AC and the viscosity parameters including PV, MV, BD, FV and SB were 15.8, 416.1, 180.3, 235.8, 380.9 and 200.6 RVU respectively. Significant correlations existed between AC and paste viscosity parameters at AC group level. The paste viscosity parameters, i.e. PV, BD and SB are important within an AC group as far as cooking quality is concerned. In the low AC group, ‘Koshihikari’ (check) was most preferred by Japanese consumers, which was used for identifying 16 varieties that showed non‐significant differences for pasting properties with it. Some of the important Japanese varieties were ‘Todorokiwase’, ‘Owarihatamochi’, ‘Sasanishiki’, ‘Reimei’ and ‘Kinuhikari’. These varieties had good cooking quality with low AC, high PV and BD with low SB. In contrast, the Iranian cultivar ‘Local Sadri’ with good cooking quality had intermediate levels of AC and SB while recording high PV and BD. The varietal diversity for pasting properties available within each AC group may allow the breeder to make effective selections for improving the cooking quality according to consumer choice.  相似文献

通过田间试验研究双季稻区不同早稻品种在钾胁迫和供钾充足条件下产量及对钾素的吸收利用,为双季稻区不同早稻品种合理施钾提供科学依据。以13个早稻品种为试验对象,测定不同生育期生物量、收获期稻谷和稻草产量以及钾含量,计算钾的吸收量。结果表明:13个早稻品种不施钾处理的产量变幅为5080.0~6653.3 kg/hm2,平均为6214.4 kg/hm2,变异系数为6.73%。施钾处理增产量变幅为-80~1646.66 kg/hm2,平均增产量为716.41 kg/hm2,变异系数为59.62%。不施钾处理的吸钾量为89.8~154.2 kg/hm2,平均为116.4 kg/hm2,变异系数为15.3%。施钾处理的吸钾量为124.1~193.1 kg/hm2,平均为157.0 kg/hm2,变异系数为12.6%。‘湘早籼32号’的增产率显著高于其他品种,钾肥贡献率达到24.44%,‘陵两优211’和‘中早39’的增产率显著低于其他品种,钾肥贡献率分别为1.47%和-1.23%。供试的13个品种早稻中,‘湘早籼32号’为钾素敏感型品种,施钾能使该品种早稻发挥更大的增产潜力;‘陵两优211’和‘中早39’为低钾耐受型品种,施钾对这2个品种早稻增产潜力不大,在种植期间可以减少钾肥的施用量。  相似文献

Bending-type lodging is one of the most important factors affecting the yield and grain quality of rice. This study identified quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for physical strength of the upper culms, and evaluated QTL effects on lodging resistance. In 2010 and 2011, QTLs for breaking strength, length, and diameter of the top three internodes were identified by analyzing chromosomal segment substitution lines (CSSLs) developed from ‘Koshihikari’ and ‘Kasalath’. The QTL analysis indicated that ‘Kasalath’ had two types of QTLs: one to strengthen specific internodes and one to simultaneously improve the physical strengths of plural internodes or the top three internodes. A QTL for breaking strengths of the top three internodes (bsuc11) was detected on chromosome 11 in both years. This QTL did not overlap with that for internode length. To evaluate the effects of bsuc11 on lodging resistance, this study selected three CSSLs with bsuc11 and analyzed the breaking strengths of the top three internodes after heading and the pushing resistance of the lower part. Internodes of ‘Koshihikari’ showed decreased breaking strengths after grain filling, while those of CSSLs with bsuc11 did not show this decrease in breaking strength. The pushing resistance of the lower part at the fully ripe stage was the same in ‘Koshihikari’ and CSSLs with bsuc11. These results suggested that bsuc11 could be a target to improve the physical strength of the upper culms to resist bending-type lodging, and that the physical strengths of upper and lower parts are controlled by different genetic factors in rice.  相似文献

Functional stay-green (FSG) is characterized by delayed senescence during the reproductive stage in rice. A recombinant inbred line (RIL) population derived from ‘Pusa 677’/‘PSG16’ was used to study the genetics of FSG in a rice mutant, ‘PSG16’. The RILs exhibited significant variation under two N regimes for agro-morphological traits, leaf chlorophyll content, flowering time, yield components and nitrogen (N) use. Using a genome wide linkage map spanning 1910.8 cM with 104 polymorphic markers, we have mapped six major quantitative trait loci (QTLs). One robust QTL on chromosome 1 was associated consistently across different N regimes with chlorophyll content and flowering time. The QTL on chromosome 7 was associated with grain number, whereas the QTL on chromosome 6 was found related to N harvest index and spikelet fertility. Although ‘PSG16’ showed a clear advantage in grain yield as well as having better N assimilation, we could not establish a direct genetic relationship SG trait and N use. Based on the QTL information, FSG trait of ‘PSG16’ could be useful in deciphering multiple stress responses in rice.  相似文献

利用来源于9311(籼稻)与日本晴(粳稻)杂交后代衍生的遗传背景为9311的染色体片段代换系群体,分析其在大田正常、低氮和低磷条件下的单株有效穗和单株产量的差异。结果表明,低磷、低氮胁迫对单株有效穗和单株产量影响较大。代换系对低磷和低氮的反应存在明显差异。在低氮(磷)水平下共检测到26个单株有效穗和单株产量片段或QTL,以及12个相对单株有效穗和相对单株产量QTL。源于日本晴的等位基因均呈减效作用。低磷和低氮下共同检测到5个导入片段影响单株有效穗或单株产量。而大部分(约81%)QTL只在单胁迫处理下被检测到。表明水稻对磷胁迫和氮胁迫的反应既存在不同的遗传基础,也存在共同的遗传机制。  相似文献

The brown planthopper (BPH) is one of the most destructive insect pests of rice. Resistant varieties have proved to be one of the most economic and effective measures for BPH management. In this study, an indica rice ‘DV85’ showed resistance to biotype 2 of BPH by bulked seedling test, and a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population derived from a cross between a susceptible rice ‘Kinmaze’ and ‘DV85’ was phenotyped to map genetic factors conferring BPH resistance in ‘DV85′. Composite interval mapping revealed that one quantitative trait locus (QTL) with a LOD score of 10.1 was detected between XNpb202 and C1172 on chromosome 11. This QTL was designated as Qbph11. Qbph11 explained 68.4% of the phenotypic variance of BPH resistance in this population. The allele from the resistant parent ‘DV85’ at Qbph11 reduced the damage caused by BPH feeding and would be very useful in breeding resistant rice varieties via marker‐assisted selection.  相似文献

In a field experiment with topless faba beans, parental inbred lines and FI hybrids of a 7 × 7-diallel were evaluated for traits related to the P, N and K efficiency. In addition, the parental inbreds were cultivated in a pot experiment at two P levels (100 vs. 700 mg P per pot). Significant heterosis for grain yield, uptake and utilization efficiency of nutrients in the field experiment highlighted the enhancement of nutrient efficiency in the hybrids. Amongst both parental inbreds and hybrids, significant genotypic variation was found for nearly all recorded traits. In the diallel analysis, the GCA effects generally proved to be highly significant and in most cases considerably higher than the SCA effects. In the pot experiment, grain yield ranking of the parental lines at the high P level (= P700) was very similar to that in the field experiment, whereas at the low P level (= P100, – P deficiency) the ranking of the lines changed considerably. Correspondingly, the P level-line interaction was highly significant. High tolerance towards P deficiency was found for those two parental inbreds derived from cultivars bred under Syrian conditions. At the high P supply, P efficiency was more favoured by a high P uptake, but at P deficiency by a high internal P utilization.  相似文献

为了深入研究水稻硅营养机理,通过盆栽和小区试验在施硅(低硅)和不施用硅(缺硅)条件下,比较了25个海南主要栽培水稻品种产量的变化,筛选出了硅高效水稻,并探讨了施用硅对水稻产量构成、硅吸收特点的影响。结果表明:产量或稻草干重可以作为筛选的指标,得到10个硅高效水稻品种(系),其中不耐低硅的4个,耐低硅的6个;施用硅肥对不同品种的成穗数、穗粒数和千粒重的影响不尽相同;施用硅肥对水稻的株高影响在多数品种间并不显著,提高了3个品种株高;谷壳中的硅含量在不同的品种间差异显著;在不施用硅的条件下稻草硅的含量没有显著差异,不过施用硅后硅高效品种更能显著提高稻草硅含量;施用硅后硅高效品种稻米硅的含量比硅不敏感品种的增加的更快,其中耐低硅的硅高效水稻施用硅后提高更显著。硅高效水稻地上部分各器官硅含量能敏感地响应硅的变化,不过产量构成对硅的响应特征不尽相同。  相似文献

Nitrogen (N) deficiency is a major yield‐limiting factor in rice production. The objective of this study was to identify putative QTLs for low‐N stress tolerance of rice, using an advanced backcross population derived from crosses between an indica cultivar ‘93‐11’ and a japonica cultivar ‘Nipponbare’ and genotyped at 250 marker loci. Plant height, maximum root length, root dry weight, shoot dry weight and plant dry weight under two N conditions and their relative traits were used to evaluate low‐N tolerance at the seedling stage. A total of 44 QTLs were identified on chromosomes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9. Eight intervals on five chromosomes were identified to harbour multiple QTLs, suggesting pleiotropism or multigenic effects according to the contributor of alleles. Some QTL clusters were found in the nearby regions of genes associated with N recycling in rice, indicating that the key N metabolism genes might have effects on the expression of QTLs. Several unique QTLs for relative traits were detected, which suggested the specific genetic basis of relative performance.  相似文献

Improving grain-quality is an important goal in rice breeding programs. One vital step is to find major quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for quality related traits and then investigate the relationships among them. We crossed ‘N22’, an indica variety with good appearance but low grain weight, to a japonica variety, ‘Nanjing35’, with superior grain yield but poor appearance. This enabled us to construct an F2 population and a set of backcross inbred lines (BILs) for QTL-mapping for the traits related grain appearance. In all, 37 QTLs were identified for grain length (GL), grain width (GW), grain thickness (GT), thousand-grain weight (TGW), and the percentage of grains with chalkiness (PGWC). Of these, 17 QTLs detected from 184 plants in the F2 population explained 4.97–27.26 % of the phenotypic variance, another 20 QTLs were identified using BILs from 2009 to 2010. Quantitative trait loci for major effects were detected in different populations and across years. A new QTL hot spot (marker interval RM504–RM520) was found on Chromosome 3, which harbored QTLs for GL, GW, GT, and TGW. Among our five examined traits, grain shape was significantly correlated with TGW and PGWC. The PGWC values of two heavier grains BILs, L93, and L145 are much lower than Nanjiing35, the analysis of genotype showed that this greater weight may due to the locus for GL occurring within RM504–RM520 on Chromosome 3. Therefore, those two lines will allow us to develop a long-grain high-yield rice variety with less chalkiness.  相似文献

Submergence-induced suppression of seedling vigor is a serious constraint particularly in the direct seeding rice cultivation system. To identify quantitative trait loci (QTLs) associated with seedling vigor in rice under submergence, a mapping population of 98 Backcross Inbred Lines derived from a cross of Nipponbare/Kasalath//Nipponbare was used. Phenotypic evaluation of seedling vigor under submergence was based on shoot length (SHL), root length (RTL) and shoot fresh weight (SFW) using a test tube bioassay method. Thirty-two putative QTLs were detected among which 7 were for SHL, 11 for RTL and 14 for SFW. Phenotypic evaluation was also made of the parental lines and a set of 54 chromosome segment substitution lines in which Nipponbare segments were substituted for by their homologous Kasalath segments covering the entire rice genome. Two QTLs with more than 10 % contribution to the total phenotypic variance were verified for SHL, and at least one for RTL and six for SFW on chromosomes 1, 3, 4, 6 and 7 at the 1 % significance level. Among these, all but two showed reductions in one, two or all three traits. Our present and previous results suggest that the Nipponbare genome has a potential to improve seedling vigor under submergence and that japonica germplasms can be used to breed for this important trait in indica rice.  相似文献

Phosphorus (P) is the second most growth limiting macronutrient after nitrogen and plays several important roles in all organisms including plants. In soil, P is available in both organic and inorganic forms. P deficiency reduces the growth and yield of several crop plants. Plants respond to P deficiency by the phenotypic changes especially by the modification of root architecture. Molecular marker‐assisted breeding (MAB) has been proposed as an important tool to identify and develop improved varieties of crop plants with efficient P‐use efficiency (PUE). Identification of quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for traits related to PUE has been considered as the first step in marker‐assisted selection (MAS) and improvement of crop yield programmes. In this review, we describe in detail on architectural changes of roots under P deficiency that are reported in various crops and discuss the efforts made to improve PUE using molecular marker tools. Details on QTLs identified for low P‐stress tolerance in various crop plants are presented. These QTLs can be used to improve PUE in crop plants through MAS and breeding, which may be beneficial to improve the yields under P‐deficient soil. Development of new and improved varieties using MAB will limit the use of non‐renewable fertilizers and improve PUE of key crop plants in low input agriculture.  相似文献

为了对吉林省水稻品种进行合理布局,降低低温冷害风险,对目前吉林省主要水稻栽培品种孕穗期的耐冷性进行研究。选用目前吉林省的7个主栽水稻品种(‘长白9’,‘长白16’,‘吉粳803’,‘吉粳105’,‘吉粳88’,‘吉粳83’,‘吉粳81’)进行孕穗期16℃低温处理,通过线性内插法确定了低温处理6~14天连续9天的水稻空壳率,进一步利用统计回归方法建立了16℃低温处理下不同水稻品种处理天数与空壳率的相互关系。结果表明;所有参试品种在处理10~13天时水稻空壳率达到最高,随后无明显变化。其中耐冷性弱的‘长白19’的空壳率最早达到最大值,并且冷水反应比较敏感。耐冷性最强的‘吉粳81’,冷水反应比较迟钝。其余的品种介于二者之间。因此,品种间耐低温能力存在显著差异,选育耐低温品种是提高水稻耐冷性的一种有效途径。  相似文献

The Indica‐Japonica differentiation of three photoperiod‐sensitive and/or thermosensitive genetic male‐sterile rice (PGMS or TGMS, respectively) lines and 47 male parental lines from seven ecotypes were studied for their restriction fragment length polymorphism marker data to determine which ecotype crosses with the three PGMS and/or TGMS lines could lead to higher yield potential, and to estimate the relationship between the Indica‐Japonica differentiation of parents and heterosis in grain yield and its components. The results indicated that hybrids derived from ‘N422s’ and the early‐middle ripening Indica varieties from southern China, and hybrids between ‘Pei'ai64s’ and three Japonica ecotypes, including North‐eastern Japonica varieties, restoring lines of Japonica hybrid rice and north China Japonica varieties, showed the highest grain yields. There was less variation of yield among the F1s between ‘108s’ and the seven ecotypes than among the other F1s. Highly significant positive correlations between heterosis of the F1 yield and genetic distance of the parents were detected, although the correlation between F1 yield performance and genetic distance did not reach a significant level. Considerable variation of correlation between heterosis and genetic distance was also detected in the Indica × Indica crosses and Indica × Japonica crosses. There was much higher correlation (r = 0.63) between the F1 yield performance and the genetic distance of parents in the Indica × Indica crosses than in the others. It is proposed that a genetic distance of 0.4‐0.8 between the two parents of hybrid rice might be appropriate not only for F1 performance, but also for heterosis.  相似文献
