Various serological tests were used for the diagnosis of glanders in the past but still complement fixation test (CFT) is the internationally prescribed test for trading equines. A new immunoblot (IB) technique has recently been introduced to overcome the well known shortcomings of CFT i. e. a considerable number of false positive and negative results and anticomplementary effects of sera. The objective of this study was the comparative evaluation of two glanders CFT antigens commercially available at Central Veterinary Institute ofWageningen UR, Lelystad, NL (CIDC) and at c.c.pro GmbH, Oberdorla, DE (c.c.pro) in a glanders endemic area regarding specificity and sensitivity. A total of 1678 serum samples from the endemic region (Province Punjab, Pakistan) and a non-endemic area (Germany) were analysed. All sera tested positive or suspicious with CFT were analysed by the confirmatory IB to exclude CFT false positive results. Both CFT antigens showed 100% sensitivity. The use of CIDC or c.c.pro antigen resulted in specificities of 77.45% or 75.71% for sera from endemic area and 93.75% or 94.79% for sera from non-endemic areas, respectively. The results demonstrate the different performances of identical tests in different epidemiologically settings. Based on these results, the combined use of CFT and IB is highly suggestive for the serodiagnosis of glanders. Good agreement was calculated between CFT (using either c.c.pro or CIDC antigen) and immunoblot.  相似文献

The Rose Bengal Plate Agglutination test (RBT), the complement fixation text (CFT) and the tube agglutination test (TAT) were applied to serums from 345 feral and 80 domestic pigs sampled at slaughter. At least 2 of the 3 serological tests were applied to each serum. Tissues from all pigs were cultured for Brucella suis and the degree of culture effort was categorised from 1 to 4 in decreasing order. Fifty-eight feral and 35 domestic pigs were culture-positive. A greater proportion of culture-positive pigs was obtained for category 1 and 2 culture effort. Tissues yielding B. suis most often were mandibular, gastrohepatic and external iliac lymph nodes, spleen and various abdominal organs. Infection in domestic pigs was associated with exposure to feral pigs. The sensitivity (Se) in culture-positive pigs of the RBT (79.1%) was significantly greater than that of either the CFT (49.1%) or TAT (51.1%). The specificities (Sp) in culture-negative pigs were 81.2% for the RBT, 90.8% for the CFT and 81.0% for the TAT. A more realistic estimate of Sp for the RBT was considered to be 97.6%, based on serological results from 31,326 domestic pigs routinely tested for regulatory purposes. The RBT was clearly superior to the other 2 tests in this study. However, a more sensitive screening test would be preferable for use in a test and slaughter eradication program. The RBT would be a suitable confirmatory test.  相似文献

Serum agglutination (SAT), complement fixation (CFT), indirect ELISA (iELISA), competitive ELISA (cELISA), Rose Bengal (RBT) and EDTA-modified agglutination (EDTA) tests were used in parallel on serological samples from 19,935 cattle in 301 herds. The study herds were selected according to putative exposure to Brucellaabortus with cases defined by bacteriological culture or test agreement. No single test identified all infected cattle and, at diagnostic thresholds, relative sensitivity was highest in the iELISA (67.9%) or RBT (78.1%), using bacteriological culture or test agreement, respectively, to define cases. As screening tests, the relative sensitivity of the SAT was highest (75.9% by culture or 84.9% by test agreement), with an optimal threshold of 31 IU. The relative specificity of the diagnostic tests ranged from 99.6% (SAT 31IU) to 100% (iELISA, RBT and CFT). The trial confirmed the value of the SAT as a screening test and the value of parallel testing.  相似文献

Six serological assays for the diagnosis of ovine brucellosis, due to Brucella melitensis were evaluated. Reference serum samples from sheep of known B. melitensis infection status (n = 118) were assessed using the Rose Bengal test (RBT), complement fixation test (CFT) and four commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs), including two indirect ELISAs (iELISAs), one competitive ELISA (cELISA) and one blocking ELISA (bELISA).The highest differential positive rates (DPR) were obtained with the cELISA and bELISA, while the lowest DPR was estimated using iELISAs. A latent class analysis was performed to estimate the accuracy of the CFT, RBT and bELISA using 1827 sera from sheep undergoing testing as part of a surveillance and control programme. Lower sensitivity and specificity were obtained for the three serological tests when the field samples were used. A higher DPR was achieved by the CFT, compared to bELISA and RBT. The results suggest that ELISAs, and particularly the bELISA, might be suitable for inclusion in the European Union legislation on intra-community trade for diagnosing B. melitensis infection in sheep, as it has a similar test performance compared to the RBT.  相似文献

Late in the program to eradicate bovine brucellosis from Western Australia, Rose Bengal test (RBT) and complement fixation test (CFT) results on the serums from 2,307 cattle (from herds where infection was still present after a minimum of 3 complete herd tests) showed that 327 were positive in the CFT and 246 were positive in the RBT (p less than 0.001). Subsequent testing by the RBT, CFT and the indirect haemolysis test (IHLT) of 722 serums from cattle slaughtered as part of infected herds showed that of 177 cattle positive on culture, 138 were positive in all 3 tests, 9 were negative in all 3 tests and no animal positive on culture had a reaction only in the RBT. In the 177 cattle from which B. abortus was isolated, positive reactions in the CFT occurred in the serums of 159 of them. Application of the RBT as a screening test followed by a confirmatory CFT would have resulted in 149 of the 177 cattle being positive and application of the CFT/IHLT (double test) on the serums of all cattle in the herds would have resulted in 168 or the 177 being regarded as positive.  相似文献

SUMMARY An investigation of the anamnestic test for brucellosis using Brucella abortus 45/20 vaccine was carried out in 3 groups of weaner cattle on 2 farms in western Queensland. Each group originally consisted of about 500 cattle. They were bled before and at 6 or 10 weeks after vaccination and again in the following year. The serums were tested by the complement fixation (CFT), Rose Bengal (RBT) and indirect haemolysis tests (IHLT). Most of the cattle reacting to one or more of the tests were killed and selected tissues were subjected to bacteriological examination for B. abortus. B. abortus was isolated from 19 of 30 (63%) pre-vaccinal reactors, 23 (24%) of 96 cattle reacting at 6 or 10 weeks after vaccination (the anamnestic test) and 1 (2%) of 50 cattle reacting one year after vaccination. The reactor found to be infected the year after vaccination had high serological titres in each of the 3 serological tests: RBT of 3, CFT of 128 and IHLT of 256. A subsequent test showed the group to be brucellosis-free. The CFT was the most efficient test. In the pre-vaccination tests 17 of 19 infected animals were positive in the CFT compared with 11 positive in the IHLT and 17 in the RBT. In post vaccination tests 22 of 23 infected animals were positive in the CFT compared with 18 in the IHLT and 19 in the RBT. At the pre-vaccinal and anamnestic tests (6 or 10 weeks after vaccination) 19 of 57 (33%) cattle with CF titre of 4 or 8 yielded B. abortus on culture compared with none of 26 cattle with similar titres in the year after vaccination. The interpretation of CF titres in cattle following 45/20 vaccination needs to be re-examined.  相似文献

The fluorescence polarization assay (FPA) was evaluated for the serological diagnosis of brucellosis in water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) in southern Italy. This assay uses O-polysaccharide prepared from Brucella abortus lipopolysaccharide conjugated with fluorescein isothiocyanate as a tracer. It has many methodological advantages over older, more established tests and can be performed in a fraction of the time. Sera from 890 buffalos from the Campania Region - 526 positive sera and 364 negative sera according to the complement fixation test (CFT) - were evaluated in this study. All samples were tested with the Rose Bengal test (RBT), CFT, and FPA in parallel and in blind fashion. Sensitivities (Sn) were 84.5% and 92.6%, and specificities (Sp) were 93.1% and 91.2% for RBT and FPA, respectively, relative to CFT. Finally, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis suggested a cut-off value of 117 millipolarization (mP) units. On the whole, these results suggested that FPA might replace RBT in the diagnosis of buffalo brucellosis for its better performance relative to CFT, its adjustable cut-off useful in different epidemiological situations, its reliability, ease of performance, and for its potential application in field and high-throughput laboratories.  相似文献

An automated indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (I-ELISA) for the serological diagnosis of bovine brucellosis was developed and validated in-house. A total of 4,803 cattle sera from South Africa (n = 3,643), Canada (n = 652), Germany (n = 240), France (n = 73) and the USA (n = 195) was used. The South African panel of sera represented 834 sera known to be positive by the Rose Bengal test (RBT), serum agglutination test (SAT) and complement fixation test (CFT), 2709 sera that were negative by CFT, and 100 sera from animals vaccinated with a standard dose of Brucella abortus strain 19. Overseas sera were obtained from reference non-vaccinated brucella-free cattle (n = 834), naturally infected (n = 72), experimentally infected (n = 71), and vaccinated animals (n = 83). Also 100 sera collected from cattle in Canada and known to be positive by competitive ELISA (C-ELISA) were used. The intermediate ranges ("borderline" range for the interpretation of test results) were derived from two-graph receiver operating characteristics analysis. The lowest values of the misclassification cost-term analysis obtained from testing overseas panels, covered lower I-ELISA cut-off PP values (0.02-3.0) than those from local panels (1.5-5.0). The relatively low cut-off PP values selected for I-ELISA were due to the fact that the positive control used represents a very strong standard compared to other reference positive sera. The greater overlap found between negative and positive cattle sera from South Africa than that between reference overseas panels was probably due to the different criteria used in classifying these panels as negative (sera from true non-diseased/non-infected animals) or positive (sera from true diseased/infected animals). The diagnostic sensitivity of the I-ELISA (at the optimum cut-off value) was 100% and of the CFT 83.3%. The diagnostic specificity of I-ELISA was 99.8% and of the CFT 100%. Estimate of Youden's index was higher for the I-ELISA (0.998) than that for the CFT (0.833). Analysis of distribution of PP values in sera from vaccinated and naturally infected cattle shows that in vaccinated animals all readings were below 31 PP where in infected ones these values represented 43%. Therefore, it appears that I-ELISA could be of use in identifying some naturally infected animals (with values > 31 PP), but more sera from reference vaccinated and infected animals need to be tested to further substantiate this statistically. Of 834 sera positive by RBT, SAT and CFT, 825 (98.9%) were positive in the I-ELISA. Compared to C-ELISA the relative diagnostic sensitivity of the I-ELISA was 94% and of the CFT 88% when testing 100 Canadian cattle sera. Of 258 South African cattle sera, of which 183 (70.9 %) were positive by the I-ELISA and 148 (57.4 %) by the CFT, 197 (76.4%) were positive by C-ELISA when re-tested in Canada. One has to stress, however, that Canadian C-ELISA has not been optimised locally. Thus, the C-ELISA was probably not used at the best diagnostic threshold for testing South African cattle sera. This study shows that the I-ELISA performed on an automated ELISA workstation provides a rapid, simple, highly sensitive and specific diagnostic system for large-scale detection of antibodies against B. abortus. Based on the diagnostic accuracy of this assay reported here, the authors suggest that it could replace not only the currently used confirmatory CFT test, but also the two in-use screening tests, namely the RBT and SAT.  相似文献

A total of 2,698 dairy herds were surveyed in 1981–1982 in New South Wales and north eastern Victoria in a review of the methods used to monitor them for the presence of Brucella abortus., The methods used to monitor dairy herds were testing of all breeding cows over 1 year of age using the rose bengal test (RBT) and complement fixation test (CFT), the bulk milk ring test (BMRT), and testing of blood samples collected at abattoirs using the RBT and CFT. The surveyed herds had at least one whole herd test, and BMRT was done at regular intervals in the period of the survey. Of the 99 (3.7%) herds that reacted to the BMRT, 91 (3.4%) herds had false positive reactions and 8 (0.3%) herds were declared infected on follow-up herd testing. False-positive reactions were obtained in 22 herds on more than one occasion. Common causes of false positive reactions to the BMRT were thought to be previous vaccination with Strain 19 and sampling in very early or late lactation. Of the 98 (3.63%) herds that reacted to the whole herd serological tests, 80 (2.96%) herds had false-positive reactions and 18 (0.67%) herds were declared infected. Strain 19 vaccination was thought to be an important cause of false-positive reactions. Fifty-three (2.0%) herds showed suspicious reactions on abattoir monitoring but none was declared infected on follow-up testing. Of the 18 herds with infected or equivocal status, the BMRT identified 8. In a further 6 herds, the infected cattle were not in the milking herd. Four other herds had milkers with high CFT titres which could not be confirmed as infected on culture. In no herds were culture positive RBT or CFT reactors from the milking herd detected without the BMRT being positive. The proportion of false-positive reactions to the BMRT was high but the BMRT proved very useful in identifying dairy herds infected with B. abortus, when the prevalence of brucellosis was very low. The serological response of young and adult sheep vaccinated conjunctivally with Rev-1 vaccine was assessed by fluorescence polarization assay (FPA), Rose Bengal test (RBT), complement fixation test (CFT), modified Rose Bengal test (m-RBT), indirect ELISA (i-ELISA) and competitive ELISA (c-ELISA), at different post vaccination intervals. One hundred and thirty six adult sheep and 64 lambs were used in the study. The vaccinated animals were bled prior to vaccination (0 day) and thereafter at 21st, 42nd, 35th, 63rd, 91st, 125th, 159th, and 223rd and 330th day post vaccination. The majority of animals (young and adult) showed positive reaction by FPA, RBT, CFT, m-RBT and c-ELISA 21 days post vaccination, whereas by i-ELISA at 42 days. All tests perform equal when animals vaccinated as young are tested 125 days (4 months) post vaccination. In case of animals vaccinated at adulthood, FPA, RBT, CFT and c-ELISA perform equal if the animals are tested 223 days (approximately 8 months) post vaccination. I-ELISA and m-RBT show low specificity if ewes vaccinated at adulthood are tested 330 days (11 months) post vaccination. If control of brucellosis in sheep is based on conjunctivally vaccination of lambs with Rev-1, the vaccinated animals can be tested by any test used for diagnosis of B.melitensis infection accurately at least 4 months post vaccination. If brucellosis control is based on mass vaccination the use of m-RBT and i-ELISA is not recommended for testing adult animals at least for 330 days (11 months) post vaccination due to tests low specificity. Further research is needed so the appropriate cut-offs to be established for FPA, c-ELISA or i-ELISA to become valuable tools for the eradication of Brucella spp. infection in small ruminants in areas where vaccination is practiced.  相似文献

Brucella melitensis infection prevalence among Syrian female sheep, to evaluate a number of serological tests and to discuss some epidemiological aspects of brucellosis, was studied. A total of 2,580 unvaccinated Syrian female sheep sera samples were tested for B. melitensis antibodies detection using four serological methods: the Rose Bengal test (RBT), the serum agglutination test (SAT), the complement fixation test (CFT) and an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (iELISA). In addition, 2,375 milk samples were collected, then milk ring test (MRT) and bacterial isolation test were employed to evaluate the natural organism shedding. The samples were considered positive in 66%, 64%, and 60% when we employed the RBT, SAT, and iELISA tests, respectively. Whereas, the CFT test revealed the smallest number of positive samples. By using the MRT, the total prevalence of brucellosis was nearly 38% of samples. A large variation was observed concerning the studied areas, ranging from 24% in Tartous to 44% in both Damascus and Damascus rural areas. Brucella was isolated from only 677 samples out of the 2,375 female sheep milk samples.  相似文献

The sensitivity and specificity of three commercially available complement fixation test (CFT) antigens from c.c.pro (c.c.pro), Central Veterinary Institute of Wageningen UR (CIDC) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) were comparatively evaluated by testing 410 sera collected from glanders-endemic and non-endemic areas (200 true-negative randomly collected sera and 210 sera collected from experimentally immunised animals (12 rabbits, 19 horses), clinically positive (135) and culture-positive (44) horses, donkeys and mules). Immunoblotting (IB) was used as the gold standard test. Highest sensitivity was shown for the CIDC antigen (100 per cent) followed by the c.c.pro antigen (99.39 per cent). However, the USDA antigen showed substantially less (p<0.05) sensitivity (62.19 per cent). Highest specificity was found for the USDA antigen (100 per cent) followed by the CIDC (97.5 per cent) and c.c.pro antigen (96.5 per cent). Positive and negative predictive values (assumed glanders prevalence of <0.1 per cent) for each antigen were calculated to be 95.88 and 99.48 (c.c.pro), 97.04 and 100 (CIDC), 100 and 76.33 per cent (USDA), respectively. Almost perfect agreement (0.96) was found between CFT using either c.c.pro or CIDC and IB.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of the indirect enzyme immunoassay (IELISA) and the competitive enzyme immunoassay (CELISA) for the diagnosis of bovine brucellosis in comparison to conventional serological tests routinely used in Argentina. Serum samples (n = 3500), from Brucella-free herds, from vaccinated cattle and from naturally infected cattle, were tested by the following tests: buffered antigen agglutination test (BPAT), rose bengal test (RBT), 2-mercaptoethanol test (2-ME), complement fixation test (CFT), IELISA and CELISA. Sensitivity and specificity of the BPAT, RBT, IELISA and CELISA were determined relative to the 2-ME and the CFT. The CELISA was considered suitable for eliminating most serological reactions of vaccinated animals and was more specific than the other tests. The results indicate the potential use of the CELISA as a complementary assay in the brucellosis control and eradication program in Argentina and other countries, where Brucella abortusstrain 19 vaccination is mandatory.  相似文献

A modified Rose Bengal test (mRB) and an indirect ELISA (iELISA) with Protein G as the conjugate, were evaluated for the diagnosis of Brucella melitensis infection in unvaccinated sheep with a known bacteriological status, and their diagnostic efficacy was compared with that of the standard Rose Bengal (RB) and Complement Fixation (CF) tests used in the current eradication campaign in EU countries. All tests showed 100% specificity when testing the sera from 212 Brucella-free sheep. When testing the sera from 219 Brucella melitensis culture-positive sheep, both the mRB and iELISA tests were more sensitive (98.6% and 96.8%, respectively) than the RB and CF tests (95.0% and 92.7%, respectively). These results were similar when testing the sera from 181 animals belonging to infected flocks but found bacteriologically negative, suggesting that the mRB or iELISA tests could advantageously replace the current RB procedure used as the screening test.  相似文献

A dot enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (dot ELISA) was developed for diagnosis of glanders in equines. The test was based on the detection of IgG antibodies to Pseudomonas mallei antigens bound to nitrocellulose coated on plastic strips (dipsticks), the reaction being amplified by an avidin-biotin system with biotinylated anti-horse IgG and horseradish peroxidase-avidin D. Sera from 810 normal, six naturally infected and 48 sensitized equines were tested by this assay, and results were compared with complement fixation, indirect haemagglutination and counter-immunoelectrophoresis tests. Dot ELISA had the highest sensitivity, and was superior to other tests in that it was rapid and easy to perform, the results were easy to interpret, the assay was not influenced by anti-complement activity, and it was able to detect antibodies at an early stage. Testing of serum at 1:200 dilution is proposed for epidemiological screening.  相似文献

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), using β-galactosidase and a fluorigenic substrate, was used for the detection of antibodies to Brucella abortus in bovine sera.Among 677 animals from 9 brucellosis-free herds, none reacted in the ELISA. Among 785 animals from 23 brucellosis-infected herds, 336 were positive in ELISA, 229 in the slow agglutination test (SAT), 185 in the complement fixation test (CFT), and 165 in the Rose-Bengal test (RBT).Experimental infections were conducted with two B. abortus strains. At slaughter on day 101, after intraconjunctival infection of heifers with B. abortus strain 19 organisms, 3 animals were positive in the SAT, 3 in the CFT, 4 in the RBT and 11 in the ELISA, and Brucella organisms could be cultivated from 10 animals; among these, 2 scored positive in the SAT, 3 in the CFT, 3 in the RBT and 8 in the ELISA test. Seventeen heifers were infected with organisms of B. abortus strain 2308. On day 101, 11 heifers were found to be carriers, all of which yielded positive results in the CFT, RBT and ELISA tests, but not in the SAT.  相似文献

A field study was conducted to evaluate the delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) test in diagnosing brucellosis in cattle, in particular the diagnosis of infection in individual cows. A total of 93 cows that were negative, suspect, or positive to the serum agglutination test (SAT), complement fixation test (CFT), or the milk ring test (MRT) were subjected to the DTH test. The cows were then slaughtered and the supramammary lymph nodes were collected for bacteriologic examination. In 989 cows the DTH test, MRT and serologic tests were negative. When the DTH test results were compared with bacteriologic results, 12 of the 93 cows with CFT titres greater than 1:200 tested negative in the DTH test while bacteriologic results were positive. The sensitivity of the DTH test (calculated on the remaining 81 cows) was 100%; the specificity was 83%. The sensitivity of the DTH test (calculated on 93 cows) was 81%; the specificity was 83%. The sensitivity and specificity of the DTH test correlated well with those of the CFT (86-83%). We conclude that the DTH test is very sensitive, and specific enough to diagnose brucellosis in individual cows. The DTH test should be used in combination with serologic tests in the diagnosis of brucellosis.  相似文献

Latent-class models were used to determine the sensitivity, specificity and predictive values of a polyclonal blocking enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and a modified complement-fixation test (CFT) when there was no reference test. The tests were used for detection of antibodies against Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae serotype 2 in a survey of respiratory diseases in Danish finishing pigs. The estimates were obtained by maximum-likelihood and also by a Bayesian method (implemented with Gibbs sampling). Possible dependence of diagnostic errors was investigated by comparing models where independence was assumed to models allowing for conditional dependence, given the true disease status.

No strong evidence of conditional dependence in either test sensitivity or specificity was found. Assuming independence, maximum-likelihood estimates and 95% confidence intervals of the sensitivity and specificity of the ELISA were 100% and 92.8% (90.1–95.5%) and the corresponding values of the CFT were 90.6% (85.8–95.4%) and 98.6% (98.0–99.3%), respectively. Bayesian estimates and posterior 95% credible intervals of the sensitivity and specificity of the ELISA were 99.7% (98.7–100%) and 92.7% (89.9–95.3%) and of the CFT were 90.6% (86.0–95.3%) and 98.7% (98.0–99.3%). The sensitivity and specificity of a combined test, where the CFT is subsequently applied to the pig sera that test positive in the ELISA, were estimated at 90.2% (85.6–95.0%) and 99.9% (99.8–100%), respectively. The cost of the combined test was less than the cost of the use of the CFT alone, at prevalences <54%. Prevalences and predictive values and their 95% limits were estimated in six sub-samples of data. The estimates of sensitivity and specificity obtained in the present investigation generally validate those reported from other sources.  相似文献

Three serological methods, the Rose-Bengal test (RBT), the complement-fixation test (CFT) and an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (I-ELISA) were compared for the detection of Brucella-infected animals in unvaccinated cattle herds in Eritrea. In this study, 71 herds first were classified as positive or negative for Brucella infection on the basis of at least one animal being seropositive by RBT and CFT. All the 159 RBT-positive samples from the 26 seropositive herds and 214 RBT-negative samples randomly selected from the seropositive herds and from the 45 negative herds were tested further by CFT and I-ELISA. Using the ELISA titer as main predictor, and incorporating the RBT results, a logistic model was built to predict the CFT-negative or -positive status of individual sera and to estimate sensitivity and specificity. Whilst the ELISA titers (< or =20) accurately predicted all the negative sera in herds that were also negative by the CFT, the number of seropositive animals was higher by ELISA in herds that had positive animals. Serum samples which give higher degrees of agglutination with the RBT need not be re-tested with CFT; consideration of the seropositive status of a herd should be taken into consideration on defining the cut-off optical density readings for ELISA.  相似文献

The effectiveness of Rose Bengal test (RBT) and fluorescence polarization assay (FPA) in diagnosing cattle brucellosis in endemic areas was assessed and RBT and FPA test agreement was compared (n = 319). The sensitivity of RBT and FPA in detecting low Brucella titres were evaluated in paired sera (n = 34). A logistic regression model was constructed to predict cattle test result in FPA using RBT as the main predictor and incorporating bio-data and animal history. There was 79.3% agreement between the RBT and FPA (Kappa = 0.59; Std error = 0.05; p = 0.000) and a high correspondence between high RBT scores and positive FPA results suggesting that sera with high RBT score may not require confirmation with tests such as competitive-ELISA or CFT. High FPA cut-off points were more likely to miss animals with low antibody titres. The RBT had a reduced ability in detecting low antibody titres compared to the FPA. FPA test interpretation was improved if a priori information, such as sex and age was used. Under the challenging disease surveillance conditions prevailing in rural Africa, field-testing methods that are sensitive and specific; allow single animal contact, low technical skills in data interpretation are suitable.  相似文献
