This study investigated the anatomical and chemical characteristics of the reaction wood of a gymnpsperm species, Gnetum gnemon, and discussed on contributing factor for the type of reaction wood in this species. Cell morphology, microfibril angle (MFA) of the S2 layer and lignin distribution in secondary walls of tracheary elements, and lignin content were examined on three branches. Observations included no G-layer formation, significant decreases in vessel frequency, and altered MFA, and visible-light absorbance after lignin colour reactions in tracheid and fiber tracheid walls on the upper side in almost all samples. These results suggest that reaction wood in G. gnemon was similar to that in ‘tension-wood-like-reaction wood’ in angiosperms. On the other hand, reaction wood showed decrease in the lignin concentration in the fiber tracheid walls compared to the tracheid walls. In addition, the lignin in the tracheid and fiber tracheid walls was originally rich in syringyl units, suggesting that changes in the anatomical and chemical characteristics of secondary xylem due to reaction wood formation might relate to the ratio of the syringyl to guaiacyl units in lignin in the cell walls which function for mechanical support.  相似文献

运用木材解剖图像分析系统和显微照相的方法对人工兴安落叶松次生木质部的解剖结构进行研究,结果表明:落叶松具正常树脂道和受伤树脂道两种类型,前者常见于晚材。落叶松生长轮内的早晚材在干和枝内急变,在根内缓变。早材管胞呈六边形至多边形,胞壁常见单列具缘纹孔,偶见对列具缘纹孔;晚材管胞多呈矩形,胞壁鲜见具缘纹孔,通常为单列具缘纹孔。落叶松木射线同时具有单列木射线和纺锤形木射线两种类型,纺锤形木射线中仅含一枚纵行树脂道。纵行管胞与木射线交叉形成的纹孔场为云杉型。从根到干再到枝,管胞逐渐细化,管胞长度逐渐减小,木射线分布由密到疏。  相似文献

Summary The cross-sectional view of pitting between various cell types inPinus banksiana Lamb. was studied at the ultrastructural level. Cell types inPinus banksiana include longitudinal tracheids, ray tracheids, ray parenchyma cells, buffer cells and epithelial cells. Two common characteristic features of bordered pit-pairs between longitudinal tracheids are an initial pit border and a thickened torus at the center of the pit membrane. The shape and size of the pit border and torus of bordered pit-pairs between two compression wood cells, and between the last-formed latewood longitudinal tracheid and first-formed earlywood longitudinal tracheid were different from those in the earlywood and latewood longitudinal tracheids. The pit border on the ray tracheid side varied in size and shape due to wall dentation. No initial pit border was found on the pit border of the ray tracheid side. The shape of bordered pit-pairs between two ray tracheids varied considerably due to irregularity of the dentate cell wall. The size of bordered pit-pairs in longitudinal tracheids was between 16 m to 20 m, which was twice the diameter of bordered pit-pairs in ray tracheids. Bordered pitpairs at the end wall of two ray tracheids appeared to be the smallest at 5 m, Pit aspiration occurred in the bordered pit-pairs with or without a torus. In the heartwood zone, some half-borders pit-pairs between tracheary and ray parenchyma cells showed an additional secondary wall on the ray parenchyma cell side. Plasmodesmata were found in the half-bordered pit-pairs as well in the simple pit-pairs. Blind pits were observed between a ray tracheid and a longitudinal tracheid. Bordered pit-pairs between two buffer cells were also observed. 本文对贵州省龙里林场马尾松密度试验林 ,5种造林密度 ,15年生马尾松木材基本密度、生长轮宽度、晚材率和解剖特性进行研究。结果表明 :造林密度对马尾松生长轮宽度、晚材率和管胞列数影响较大 ,方差分析达到显著水平。造林密度大 ,则生长轮变窄 ,管胞列数减少 ,晚材率增加。造林密度对马尾松木材基本密度的影响不显著 ,但具明显的规律性 ,即随着造林密度加大木材基本密度增加 ,造林密度过大反而下降。造林密度对管胞形态的影响表现出因树龄而异 ,不同造林密度马尾松管胞形态总平均值变化不大 ,但管胞长度随树龄的增大而增加的趋势受到造林密度影响。较低的造林密度各生长轮管胞长度差异不显著。组织比量不受造林密度影响。  相似文献

A tracheid-level model was used to quantify the effects of differences in wood microstructure between coastal and interior Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco var. menziesii and var. glauca) wood on larger scale properties like hydraulic conductivity. The model showed that tracheid length, the ease of flow through a bordered pit and effective tracheid diameter can all limit maximum hydraulic conductivity. Among the model parameters tested, increasing bordered pit conductivity and tracheid length resulted in the greatest increase in maximum conductivity in both the inland and coastal ecotypes. A sensitivity analysis of the uncertainty between parameters governing flow through the bordered pit and air-seeding potential showed that, although decreased pit flow resistance increased maximum hydraulic conductivity, increased cavitation led to lower conductivity over time. The benefits of increasing the number of bordered pits depended on the intensity of the meteorological driving function: in drier environmental conditions, wood with fewer pits was more conductive over time than wood with more pits. Switching the bordered pit characteristics between coastal and interior wood indicated that the conductivity time course of coastal and interior wood was primarily governed by differences in the number of bordered pits and not differences in tracheid dimensions. The rate at which tracheids refilled had little effect on the conductivity time course of either coastal or interior wood during the first two summers when the wood was highly saturated, but had a marked influence in subsequent years once the cavitation profile stabilized. Our work highlights the need for more empirical work on bordered pits to determine whether variation in their number and properties is related to changing environmental conditions. In addition, a detailed simulation model of a bordered pit is needed to understand how variation in pit properties affects the relationship between ease of flow through a bordered pit and its potential for facilitating air-seeding.  相似文献

Using confocal microscopy, tracheid wall organisation was investigated with pontamine fast scarlet 4B (P4B), a cellulose-specific stain that fluoresced red following green excitation. P4B fluorescence was present throughout unlignified walls (cambium, ray cells, resin canals and parenchyma cells) and in two concentric bands around opposite and compression wood tracheids. Scanning electron micrographs demonstrated these bands as the S1 and S3 layers of normal wood, and the S1 and inner S2 layers of compression wood. Fluorescence was also strongly dependent on the polarisation of the excitation light, a phenomenon referred to as bifluorescence. Compared to two other cell wall stains, Congo red and calcofluor white, P4B showed a higher specificity for the S1 and S3 layers and increased bifluorescence. These results suggest that P4B is an ideal tool with which to investigate the orientation of cellulose microfibrils in the S1 and S3 layers of the tracheid wall.  相似文献

The technology of steam explosion was applied to pre-treat sub-alpine fir (Abies lasiocarpa (Hook.) Nutt.) lumber and to improve its drying characteristics. Effects of steam explosion on the appearance and structure of the lumber are discussed in this paper. The structure of the wood was examined using light microscope (LM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The following results were obtained. With increasing temperature, pressure, and explosion cycles the color of the lumber darkened gradually. No significant structural difference between treated and untreated samples was observed using LM when the treatments were carried out at temperatures below 130°C with ten explosion cycles (group A or B). Some fractures were observed in bordered pit pairs between tracheids after 20 explosion cycles at 130°C (group C). More fractures occurred in bordered pit pairs between earlywood tracheids at a temperature of 160°C (group D). More or less fractures in pits between ray parenchyma cells and earlywood tracheids were observed using SEM in all four cases of treatments. Although no change in bordered pits in the tracheid walls between group A and the control group was discovered, groups B, C, and D showed different extents of ruptures in bordered pits, which may lead to break aspirated pits and improve permeability. In these groups, wrinkles and separations in the inner tracheid walls and detachments in middle lamella also occurred and became more serious as temperature or cycles of the treatment increased.  相似文献

A comprehensive analysis on the variation pattern of early- and latewood tracheid morphological parameters along tree (Cunninghamia lanceolata Hook.) height, including length and width, wall thickness, tissue proportion, cell wall percentage, width of growth rings, and on the relationship among them are conducted. The results indicate an initially rapid and then gentle increase of tracheid length and width, thickness of the radial wall and tangential wall of tracheid, area percentage of tracheid from pith to outward, while S2 microfibril angle (Mfa) of tracheid, and rays percentage gradually decrease and then tend to be stable. The variation of all anatomical parameters but earlywood cell wall thickness shows no significance along tree height. The radial variation pattern of width of growth rings is characterized with initially slight decrease followed immediately by a rapid and then much more gentle increase from pith to outward. Birch wood (Betula pendula) samples were treated in a thermal regime (140, 160, 180 °C) for 1 h and investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM). SEM microimages of the wood cross-section were taken from one and the same place before and after the thermal treatment (magnification 100–2,000×). The results of measurements of areas and linear sizes of the birch wood cells show significant changes, which depend on the thermal treatment conditions and the type of the cell: libriform, tracheid, vessel and ray. After the treatment at 180 °C, the integrity of wood morphological structure begins to break up. Voids and cracks are formed between fibres, thus leading to a decline in the mechanical properties of the wood.  相似文献

The effects of high temperature, moisture, and mechanical action during the thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) processing, on the changes in surface properties of poplar, namely, surface color, roughness, wettability, and microstructure, were investigated in this study. The correlation between observed changes in surface properties and chemical characteristics was also analyzed. Poplar woods with high moisture content were compressed using different pressures at temperature of 160 °C for four different periods. The wood surfaces became darker and smoother, and their surface free energy decreased significantly after the THM process. THM process markedly reduced surface hygroscopicity compared to the control wood. The cell lumens of THM wood became narrow with increasing compression ratio due to the enhancing high pressure. Collapse and fractures of cell walls developed during THM treatment. Furthermore, results indicated that a series of chemical reactions in different components of wood took place during THM process, such as degradation of hemicelluloses, condensation of lignin, and decomposition of extractives. In turn, these chemical modifications contributed to the darkening of color as well as the reduction of wettability and surface free energy of THM wood.  相似文献

1983年火炬松31个种源引种栽培在浙江富阳中国林业科学研究院亚热带林业研究所实验林场,研究表明该批种源间10年生树木生长量和纸浆材材性因子如晚材率、管胞形态特征值(管胞长度、宽度、腔径、壁厚、长宽比、腔径比、壁腔比)、管胞S2层微纤丝角和木材基本密度存在着显著差异,木材主要化学成分中纤维素和木素含量种源间存在着显著差异,而戊聚糖和苯醇浸提物含量种源间差异不显著.这些材性特征除了木材化学性状因子外,均受中等以上程度遗传控制.木材纤维素、木素、戊聚糖和苯醇浸提物含量的广义遗传力分别为0.088、0.003、0.340和0.307,其余性状广义遗传力均大于0.50.引种地栽培环境对木材性状有显著影响.种源原产地纬度与树木生长量、管胞宽度、管胞直径和管胞微纤丝角呈负相关,与晚材率、木材密度呈正相关.31个种源树木胸高直径与管胞长宽比、管胞壁腔比、木材密度呈显著负相关,与管胞宽度、管胞直径、管胞腔径比呈正相关.  相似文献

Summary Western hemlock heartwood contains patches of tracheids with large amounts of cellular inclusions. Microscopic and chemical examination of the wood showed several types of deposits containing the lignans matairesinol, hydroxymatairesinol and conidendrin. The deposits, which were often relatively pure individual lignans, frequently assumed different physical forms and chemical composition. A check in the wood contained three distinct forms of deposits each of which was a different lignan. Rays contained deposits physically similar to those in adjacent tracheids but, while lignans were present in the tracheids, they were not detected in the rays. Lignans lined tracheid walls as surface films and often encrusted the bordered pits. The amount of lignans in the wood was not related to wet wood zones although surface films and pit encrustations should have an influence on physical properties. The location and physical nature of lignan deposits in western hemlock heartwood indicates their biosynthesis has probably taken place at the heartwood periphery in the vicinity of the half-bordered pit.Presented at the International Wood Chemistry Symposium, Seattle, U. [目的]通过测定和分析广西融水种源红心杉木优树材质性状指标,以了解该地区红心杉木材性状变异规律。[方法]以广西融水种源60株20年生的红心杉木优树为研究材料,测定单株材积、红心率、基本密度、组织比量、管胞性状、微纤丝角等10个材质性状指标,分析各材性性状指标分布和变异规律及性状间的相关关系。[结果]表明:红心率、基本密度、木射线比量、管胞比量、管胞长、管胞宽、管胞长宽比等性状数据分布服从正态分布。融水两个地区红心杉优树轴向薄壁细胞比量的变异系数分别为35.08%和44.97%,变异较大。管胞比量变异系数分别为3.28%和3.56%,变异较小。红心率、木射线比量、管胞长、管胞宽、微纤丝角等性状差异极显著(P0.01),轴向薄壁细胞比量差异显著(P0.05)。10个材质性状间存在12对表型显著相关。[结论]测定的10个性状均是连续性数量性状。早、晚材的管胞长度、管胞宽度和管胞长宽比等性状数据呈从心材至边材逐渐增加的规律。作为重要经济性状的红心率与木射线比量呈极显著正相关(P0.01),单株材积与轴向薄壁细胞比量呈显著正相关(P0.05),而单株材积与基本密度的相关性不显著,这使红心杉木生长量与材性相结合的遗传改良成为可能。  相似文献

The fast growth of Tetracentron sinense is a potential valuable timber resource, but whether its anatomy and chemical components are suitable for timber is unknown. We used light microscopy and SEM to examine the anatomical structure and FITR to measure the chemical components of the phloem and xylem of this tree. Radial variations in growth ring width and tracheid dimensions were also evaluated. The sieve tube, phloem parenchyma cell and sclereids clusters were the main cells in phloem, and the tracheid was the fundamental cell in xylem. An unusual tracheid type, fiber-tracheids or vessel-liked elements was visible. Wood rays nonstoried, uniseriate and multiseriate, including heterogeneous II, occasionally I, and usually 3–6 cells wide. The mean growth-ring width was 2.53 ± 0.46 mm, and the percentage of late wood was over 60%. For radial variation, growth-ring width increased at an early growth stage, and reached the largest increment during years 11–15, then decreased. The maximum growth-ring width was 5.313 mm. During late growth (60–85 years), trees also maintained a high radial growth increment. Radial variation in the percentage of late wood was uniform, about 50–70%, throughout the growth years. Growth patterns in the length and width of early and late wood were similar as the trees aged. From the FTIR results, the chemical components differed significantly between xylem and phloem, hemicellulose in particular was higher in the xylem than in the phloem, where it was apparently absent. All of these suggest that the composition of phloem in T. sinense is very similar to that of hardwood, and it has higher growth ratio and uniform wood properties.  相似文献

以3年生火炬松苗木为研究对象,在生长季节开展人工倾斜树干试验,将苗木分成5组(每组12株),与垂直方向倾斜成不同的角度(0°,15°,30°,45°,60°),苗木生长4个月后开始测定不同倾斜角度下火炬松应压木的解剖性质,分析不同倾斜角度下火炬松应压木解剖性质的变化规律。结果表明:1)随着倾斜角度的增加,管胞壁变厚,管胞形状变圆,胞间隙逐渐增多、增大,螺纹裂隙逐渐变宽、加深,其中30°以后应压木典型特征非常明显。2)随着倾斜角度的增加,管胞长度先减小后增大,30°达最小值;管胞宽度先减小后增大,45°达最小值;双壁厚先增大后减小,45°达最大值。方差分析表明不同倾斜角度对管胞长度、宽度及双壁厚影响均极显著。3)随着倾斜角度的增加,微纤丝角度先增大后减小,30°达最大值。方差分析表明不同倾斜角度对微纤丝角度影响显著。4)随着倾斜角度的增加,管胞比量及木射线比量呈波动变化;树脂道比量先增大后减小,30°达最大值。方差分析表明不同倾斜角度对树脂道比量影响显著,而对管胞比量及木射线比量影响不显著。5)从不同倾斜角度下各种解剖性质的变化趋势来看,30°~45°为应压木解剖性质形成的重要转折点,具体原因还需进一步研究。  相似文献

The permeability and the structure of heartwood and sapwood of the solvent-exchange dried and the air-dried green-wood of Chinese-fir(Cunninghamia lanceolata(Lamb.)Hook.)and masson pine(Pinus massoniana Lamb.) were measured in order to study the relations between the permeability and the structure.The results showed that the permeability of sapwood of both the air-dried and the solvent-exchange dried wood was higher than that of heartwood,and the permeability of the solvent-exchanged a bigger number of flow path per unit area of the wood perpendicular to the flow direction resulted from a bigger number of unaspirated pits per unit area and a bigger number of effective pit openings per membrane,and on the other hand,a smaller number of tracheid in series connection per unit length parallel to flow direction resulted from a longer tracheid longth and an effective tracheid length for permeability.  相似文献

Rubidium solution was injected in the sapwood of a Japanese cedar cultivar in the growing period, and its radial movement in stem was traced to investigate the accumulation of alkali metals in the heartwood. Sapwood-injected Rb was detected in outer heartwood at 10 days after the treatment, and continued increasing at 20 days after. Radial movement of Rb toward heartwood was considered to occur soon after the treatment, and to decline at a certain point of the time after Rb injection ceased. However, Rb continued moving in heartwood probably by diffusion even after the cease of Rb injection. In a series of injection experiment, radial movement of injected Rb is not corresponding to the seasonality of both cambial activity and cytological changes of ray parenchyma accompanied with heartwood formation. From the results on Rb’s behavior, we conclude that accumulation of K and other alkali metals in heartwood of Japanese cedar has two steps, active transport from sapwood to outer heartwood via ray, and diffusion in heartwood, and that these processes proceed independently from both cambial activity and cytological changes of ray parenchyma.  相似文献

热处理对于提高木材的尺寸稳定性和耐久性、抵抗生物破坏等性能来说是一种非常有效的方法。作者采用油浴法对思茅松木材进行热处理工艺的探讨,分别对热处理木材的失重率、吸湿率、线性胀缩率、以及微观构造等进行了分析,研究结果表明:(1)思茅松热处理材随着处理温度和处理时间的增加,失重率逐渐增加;(2)思茅松热处理材随着处理温度和处理时间的增加,吸湿率逐渐降低;(3)思茅松热处理材随着处理温度和处理时间的增加,线性胀缩率逐渐降低;(4)在微观构造观察方面,由于早材腔大壁薄,材质较松软,经过热处理后早材部分容易引起径向开裂,早材管胞形态的变形程度要比晚材要大,早材轴向管胞壁的弯曲变形较晚材的要严重。随着热处理温度升高,热处理时间的延长,炭化程度越来越严重,为不使木材物理力学以及微观构造方面遭到严重破坏,建议木材热处理温度为160℃、热处理时间为6~12h或木材热处理温度为180℃、热处理时间为6~8h为宜。  相似文献

对浙江产湿地松15个家系的基本材性进行了测定与分析。结果表明:家系间管胞长度、管胞宽度、气干密度、抗弯强度、抗弯弹性模量、顺纹抗压强度差异极显著,管胞壁厚差异显著,胞壁率、冲击韧性差异未达显著水平。家系内管胞长度、管胞宽度、管胞壁厚差异均显著且高于家系间的差异,但气干密度、顺纹抗压强度、胞壁率和冲击韧差异不显著,表明在家系水平上进行木材气干密度、力学强度和管胞形态的家系选择可取得良好的效果。15个家系木材管胞长度、管胞宽度、管胞壁厚和胞壁率的广义遗传力分别为0.5466、0.3910、0.7173、0.1598,说明湿地松家系木材管胞性状(胞壁率除外)受中度或中下度遗传控制,通过一定强度的选择能获得较高的遗传增益。综合评定结果表明,04-28、06-17、06-20、08-7和08-9,5个家系为适用于培育纸浆材的优良家系,04-25、04-28、06-17、06-20和08-16,5个家系为适用于培育建筑材的优良家系。  相似文献
