在一个未接种牛流行热疫苗的小型奶牛场的一次流行热病的流行中。进行了流行热中和抗体效价与流行热自然发病比例关系的研究,发现流行热的发病与免疫的临界效价为1:32^x,处于这个抗体效价的奶牛发病率为零,小于临界效价(〈4^x-16^x称为抗体效价区)的奶牛有一定的发病比例,大于临界效价(32^x以上称高抗体效价区)的奶牛不会发病。 在4月龄至43月龄以上的奶牛中,月龄的增长与流行热中和抗体效价成正相关。与流行热的发生则成为负相关。  相似文献

The multiple reports in this issue of the Journal from the Agenda for Action conference, coupled with the analysis by the National Academy of Sciences, the National Research Council, and the Auditor General (UK) on bioterror preparedness and homeland security, highlight the immediate need for rapid disease detection and advanced diagnostic capabilities to protect the public health, animal agriculture, and the numerous associated economies in the United States. In response to the potentially devastating consequences that could arise, there is an acute need for rapid detection of a variety of the lethal foreign animal diseases, such as foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV), highly pathogenic strains of avian influenza, classical swine fever, rinderpest, exotic Newcastle disease virus (END), and domestic, vesicular look-alike diseases that include bluetongue, epizootic hemorrhagic disease, vesicular stomatitis, bovine herpes IBR, contagious ecthyma, bovine herpes mammilitis virus, vesicular exanthema, malignant catarrhal fever, and papular stomatitis. Some striking advances are occurring in the creation of rapid technology, including microfluidics, robotics, miniaturization, and biostabilization that are quickly being applied to the development of rapid microbial detection assays. These are now providing important weapons to combat this agricultural vulnerability.  相似文献

Classical swine fever is one of the most important viral diseases of pigs and a major source of loss for pig producers worldwide. The disease was eradicated from Great Britain in 1966 and, apart from a single incident in 1971, has not reappeared. A major epizootic started in Europe in 1982-83 and continued through 1984. Extra vigilance is necessary in order to detect any introduction of infection. The disease takes several forms apart from the dramatic disease described in textbooks. These include mild and chronic disease and reproductive losses of various types. Mild disease is a feature of the epizootic in Europe at present. Diagnostic methods are outlined. Diagnosis is frequently difficult and requires laboratory help. The selection and handling of specimens for the laboratory is critical to the success of diagnosis.  相似文献

A disease causing increased mortality and abortion in domestic animals during a 1977 epizootic in Egypt was identified as Rift Valley fever (RVF) virus. The epizootic included extensive human involvement reflected clinically as either an acute febrile, ocular, encephalitic, or fatal haemorrhagic form of RVF disease. Over 700 arboviruses were recovered between 1981 and 1987 from the blood of sentinel livestock near Darwin. Twenty-three isolates were made from sheep, goats, swamp buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) and horses, and the remainder were from cattle. The isolates have been typed as 27 separate viruses belonging to the bluetongue, epizootic haemorrhagic disease, Palyam, Simbu, bovine ephemeral fever, Tibrogargan and alphavirus groups. Ten of these viruses have not been isolated elsewhere in Australia and four have been isolated only in Darwin. Considerable annual variations in virus activity and in the durations of detectable viraemia were observed.  相似文献

From February 1983 to June 1985, 188 desert bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis nelsoni, = 161 and Oc cremnobates, = 27) from 18 herds in 17 mountain ranges and one captive herd were caught, marked, and had blood, fecal, and nasal mucus samples collected. Nasal swab specimens were cultured bacteriologically and virologically specifically for parainfluenza-3 (PI-3) virus. Bacterial flora differed from herd to herd. Pathogenic pneumophilic bacteria (eg, Pasteurella sp) seldom were found. Parainfluenza-3 virus was isolated from 6 bighorn sheep in 3 herds. Fecal specimens were examined for parasite ova and low numbers of lungworm (Protostrongylus sp) larvae were found in feces from 2 herds. Sera were evaluated for antibodies against respiratory syncytial virus, ovine progressive pneumonia, infectious bovine rhinotracheitis, PI-3, bovine viral diarrhea, brucellosis, leptospirosis, contagious ecthyma, bluetongue, and epizootic hemorrhagic disease. Blood clots were cultured virologically for bluetongue and epizootic hemorrhagic disease. Serologic evidence of bluetongue and/or epizootic hemorrhagic disease was found in 9 herds, and bluetongue virus (serotypes 10,11,13 and 17) was isolated from 3 herds. Antibody titers against PI-3 and respiratory syncytial virus were found in 9 and 13 herds, respectively. Evidence of bovine viral diarrhea infection was found in 6 herds, whereas infectious bovine rhinotracheitis was found in only 1 herd. Antibody titers against contagious ecthyma were found in 9 of 18 herds in California, and active lesions were seen occasionally. Evidence of ovine progressive pneumonia, leptospirosis, or brucellosis was not found.  相似文献

根据牛病毒性腹泻/粘膜病病毒5'端非结构蛋白基因序列,设计合成1对特异性引物,建立检测牛病毒性腹泻/粘膜病病毒244 bp片段的RT-PCR一步法。该方法对牛病毒性腹泻/粘膜病病毒NADL、OregonC24V和长春184毒株各标准毒株检测,结果均为阳性。对标准毒株的细胞毒进行检测,其敏感度达0.1 TCID50;而对牛传染性鼻气管炎病毒、猪瘟病毒、牛轮状病毒和牛冠状病毒的细胞培养物进行检测,结果均为阴性。检测460份不同样品,与病毒分离试验比较,符合率100%,证明该方法特异性强,敏感性高。初步结果表明所建立的一步法RT-PCR技术可用于牛病毒性腹泻/粘膜病的检测及流行病学调查。  相似文献

Respiratory syncytial virus was the cause of a severe epizootic of bovine respiratory tract disease. The virus, isolated from a sick cow during the epizootic, produced cytopathic effect in a bovine turbinate cell line 14 days after it was inoculated. Additional support for the diagnosis came from the results of pathologic and serologic examinations. Lesions consistently present were severe necrotizing bronchiolitis and epithelial syncytia projecting from bronchiolar and alveolar walls. Also, in the cow from which the virus was isolated, there was tracheitis with a syncytial-like change involving the mucosal epithelium.  相似文献

An epizootic of acute diarrhoea of adult cattle occured in Japan during the winter of 1976 to 1977. A majority of adult cattle clinically diagnosed as having the disease, showed a significant rises in antibody titres to bovine coronavirus, whereas only a smal; minority showed serological evidence of recent infection with calf rotavirus, bovine adenovirus type 7, parainfluenza virus type 3, or bovine viral diarrhoea-mucosal disease virus. A coronavirus-like agent was detected by electron-microscopy in faecal material from a cow with diarrhoea, and was subsequently isolated in primary bovine kidney cell cultures.  相似文献

Serum samples collected from cattle in Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland and New South Wales in 1966 had neutralising antibodies to ephemeral fever virus, although the last major epizootic of ephemeral fever was in 1955-56. The incidence of antibodies ranged from 1.5% in Western Australia to 29.0% in Queens- land, and 57.6% of serums assayed were of low titre (2 to 5). Antibodies were not found in serums collected from cattle in Victoria, South Australia, southern Western Australia or Norfolk Island. After the 1967-68 epizootic the pro-porton of cattle with antibody ranged from 3.1% to 47.6% in herds with antibody in Victoria to 81.8% to 91.7% in herds in Queensland, and 58.2% of serums assayed had antibody titres greater than 45. Cattle with low levels of antibody in 1966 had high levels after the 1967-68 epizootic, although it is not known what pro-portion showed clinical signs of ephemeral fever during the epizootic. Serum samples collected in 1966, and which contained low levels of antibody, were fractionated by gel filtration and the neutralising activity was confined to the 7S globulin fraction. In one cow experimentally infected with ephemeral fever virus, the neutralising activity at 15 days after inoculation was confined to the 19S globulin fraction, in both the 19S and 7S fractions at 22 days but was almost totally confined to the 7S fraction by day 36. The significance of the results is discussed, and it is suggested that ephemeral fever virus remains enzootic in areas of Australia between major epizootics, but the infecting virus may be of low pathogenicity and immunogenicity for cattle, resulting mainly in subclinical infections.  相似文献

A fluorescent antibody (FA) test for antigens of African bovine wildebeest-derived malignant catarrhal fever virus was developed. Serum from one of the few survivors of the experimental disease in steers was used to prepare the conjugate. Both a virulent and an attenuated strain of malignant catarrhal fever virus were used to infect bovine thyroid cell cultures. Cells infected with both strains were readily detected by FA staining as early as 24 h post infection, whereas cytopathic effect could be observed by bright-field microscopy only after days 5 or 6 post infection. Controls consisting of normal bovine thyroid cells or infected cells treated with conjugated normal globulins did not show autofluorescence. The reaction was blocked by treatment of infected cells with homologous positive antisera but not by treatment with normal bovine serum or antisera to foot-and-mouth disease, rinderpest, bovine virus diarrhea, Ibaraki, infectious bovine rhinotracheitis, or bovine herpes mammilitis viruses. Treated with African malgnant catarrhal fever virus conjugate did not react.  相似文献
