The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of methionine supplementation when reducing fishmeal levels in diets for white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). Tested diets consisted of a positive control with 260 g/kg fishmeal (D1), two negative controls with 100 g/kg fishmeal and no amino acid (AA) supplementation (D2) or supplemented with lysine but not methionine (D3), and four additional diets with 100g/kg fishmeal supplemented with increasing levels of DL‐Met (1.0, 2.0 or 3.0 g/kg) (D4, D5, D6) or Met‐Met (1.0 g/kg) (D7). Each diet was fed to four groups of 30 shrimp for 8 weeks at a daily rate of 70 g/kg body weight. Reduction in fishmeal from 260 g/kg down to 100 g/kg did not significantly affect survival rate, feed conversion ratio (FCR), protein efficiency ratio (PER) or protein retention efficiency (PR%) of white shrimp. However, growth performance (final body weight, FBW; weight gain, WG; specific growth rate, SGR) was reduced when dietary fishmeal level was reduced from 260 g/kg (D1) to 100 g/kg without methionine supplementation (D2). The growth performance (FBW, WG and SGR) of shrimp was significantly increased by supplementation of the 100 g/kg fishmeal diet with increasing levels of DL‐Met (p < .05). Same performance as positive control (D1) was achieved with diets containing 100 g/kg fishmeal and supplemented with 3.0 g/kg DL‐Met or 1.0 g/kg Met‐Met. The highest values of growth performance (FBW, WG and SGR) were found in shrimp fed D6 and D7 diets, which were significantly higher than those of shrimp fed D2 and D3 diets (p < .05) but without statistical differences with shrimp fed D1, D4 and D5 diets (p > .05). The highest values of whole‐body and muscle protein contents were found in shrimp fed D1 diet, which were significantly higher than those of shrimp fed all other diets (p < .05). The highest value of intestinal tract proteolytic enzyme activity was found in shrimp fed Met‐Met‐supplemented diet (D7) and followed by the positive control diet (D1) and 3 g/kg DL‐Met‐supplemented diet (D6) (p < .05). The highest values of apparent digestibility coefficients (ADCs) of dry matter and crude protein were found in Met‐Met‐supplemented diet (D7) and followed by the positive control diet (D1) (p < .05). Shrimp fed the D1 diet showed the highest value of total essential amino acid (EAA) and was significantly higher than shrimp fed D2–D3 (p < .05) but without significant difference with shrimp fed D4–D7 (p > .05). In conclusion, results showed that same performance can be achieved with diets containing 260 or 100 g/kg fishmeal supplemented with 3.0 g/kg DL‐Met or 1.0 g/kg Met‐Met. Moreover, supplementation of limiting methionine in low‐fishmeal diets seems to improve the digestive proteolytic activity, improving digestibility of dry matter and protein, and eventually to promote growth of juvenile white shrimp in fishmeal reduction diets. 相似文献

An experiment was conducted to assess the effect of supplementation of cellulolytic gut bacterium with plant protein‐based diet on growth, digestibility and digestive enzyme status of tiger shrimp, Penaeus monodon. Bacillus sp. DDKRC1. (JN641289), a potential cellulolytic bacterium, isolated from the gut of Asian seabass was used as feed supplement in this experiment. The shrimps of group I, II and III were fed with control diet (without bacterial supplement, D1), diet supplemented with live Bacillus sp. DDKRC1. at 2.94 × 107 cfu per 100 g feed (D2) and diet fermented (48 hr) with same bacteria (D3) respectively. At the end of the 42 days experiment, shrimps of group II showed significantly better (p < .01) growth and protein efficiency ratio (PER) and lower (p < .01) feed conversion ratio (FCR) as compared to group I and III. Dry matter, cellulose, hemicellulose and lipid digestibilities were significantly (p < .01) higher in group II than other two groups. Cellulase, amylase and protease activities in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract were significantly (p < .01) higher in group II as compared to other two groups. Total heterotrophic count, amylolytic, cellulolytic and proteolytic bacterial counts in gut were significantly (p < .01) higher in group II as compared to other two groups. Haematological analysis indicated better (p < .05) immune response in groups II and III than control group. Diets D2 and D3 showed better effect on growth, digestibility, FCR, survival and immune response of P. monodon as compared to D1. 相似文献

This study evaluates the effect of dietary cumin essential oil's (CEO) and cumin essential oil's loaded iron nanoparticles (CEO‐loaded NPs) on growth performance, haematological parameters and antioxidant status of white leg shrimp. Shrimps with the initial weight of 3.38 ± 0.014 g were allocated into 15 fibreglass tanks (300 L, 60 shrimps per tank) and were fed with five experimental diets containing 0 g/kg CEO (the control diet), 5 g/kg CEO, 10 g/kg CEO, 5 g/kg CEO‐NPs and 10 g/kg CEO‐NPs for 56 days. After 56 days of culture, the shrimps fed with CEO and CEO‐loaded NPs supplemented diets showed a more significant increase in growth performance (p < .05) than in the control diet. Total haemocyte count (THC) value, large‐granule cells (LGC), hyaline cells (HC)%, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and Alkaline phosphatase (AKP) activity were significantly higher (p < .05) in the shrimps fed with CEO and CEO‐loaded NPs supplemented diets than the shrimps fed with the control diet. Glutathione peroxidase (GPX) enzyme activities along with the glucose and cholesterol concentrations significantly decreased in the shrimps fed with the CEO and CEO‐loaded NPs supplemented diets more than those fed with the control diet. The results suggest that the dietary CEO‐loaded NPs can improve the growth performance, the health status and the antioxidant capacity of L. vannamei. 相似文献

Effects of dietary herbal formulae combined by Astragalus polysaccharides, chlorogenic acid and allicin in different combinations and proportions on growth performance, non‐specific immunity, antioxidant status, vibriosis resistance and damage indexes of Litopenaeus vannamei 下载免费PDF全文
In this study, a feeding trial followed by a challenge test was performed to evaluate effects of six herbal formulae which were different combinations of Astragalus polysaccharides (APS), chlorogenic acid (CGA) and allicin on growth performance, non‐specific immune response, antioxidant capacity, disease resistance and biomolecule damage of white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei. Shrimp were fed seven diets, control diet (basal diet with no herbal formulae) and six herbal formula diets (G1–G6, basal diet supplemented with 0.1% APS + 0.05% allicin, 0.1% APS + 0.1% allicin, 0.1% CGA + 0.05% allicin, 0.1% CGA + 0. 1% allicin, 0.1% APS + 0.1% CGA and 0.1% APS + 0.1% CGA + 0.05% allicin respectively), for 21 days. After that, shrimp were challenged with Vibrio harveyi and then the cumulative mortality of shrimp was recorded for 7 days post challenge. The results showed that there were no significant differences in growth performance among all groups, while the non‐specific immune responses and antioxidant indexes were significantly improved (p < .05) in shrimp fed herbal formula diets when compared to the control. Meanwhile, the lowest cumulative mortality was observed in shrimp fed herbal formula diets with 0.1% APS, 0.1% CGA and 0.05% allicin supplementation after V. harveyi challenge. Additionally, herbal formulae could not cause biomolecule damage to the hepatopancreas of shrimp. In conclusion, these results indicated that synergistic effect of APS, CGA and allicin helped to boost immunity, antioxidant capacity and disease resistance of shrimp without biomolecule damage. 相似文献

Pacific white shrimp is the major farmed shrimp species in the world. It is known to be very sensitive to the environmental and management changes such as intensification, which is one of the primary necessities to increase shrimp production, but represents a stressful condition, and needs to be managed properly to diminish its negative effects in aquaculture. In this study, juvenile Pacific white shrimp were fed diets supplementing with equal quantities of Astragalus membranaceus, Codonopsis pilosula and Glycyrrhiza uralensis extracts in different concentrations (0, 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 g/kg) for 8 weeks. We subsequently estimated the effects of supplemented diets on growth performance, haematological parameters, and histological changes of hepatopancreas. Results revealed that the supplemented mixture had no benefits on growth and survival rate, but had favourable effects on haemocyte count, number of granulocytes, and hemocyanin concentration in the haemolymph (p > 0.05). We observed that R cells and B cells were increased in hepatopancreatic tubules of shrimps fed on supplemented diets. Besides, a diet containing 2.0 g/kg of extract mixture maintained the decreased levels of alanine aminotransferase (p < 0.05) and aspartate aminotransferase (p > 0.05). Among the used concentrations, 2.0 g/kg seemed to be the most suitable concentration. 相似文献

Effect of polysaccharides extracts of algae Ulva rigida on growth, antioxidant, immune response and resistance of shrimp,Litopenaeus vannamei against Photobacterium damselae 下载免费PDF全文
This study was carried out to investigate the effect of water‐soluble polysaccharides extract of algae Ulva rigida (WPU) as dietary supplement on growth performance, antioxidant enzyme activity, lysozyme and phenoloxidase activity, and resistance of shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) subjected to bacterial infection with Photobacterium damselae. Three replicate groups of shrimp (1.0 g) were fed four diets containing four levels, 0 or control, 0.5, 1 and 1.5 g/kg of WPU for 8 weeks over the growth trial. Thereafter, 30 shrimps from each dietary treatment were infected with bacteria P. damselae to evaluate disease resistance of infected shrimp. The results of this study showed that WPU was effective as a growth promoter for L. vannamei. The best growth rate was observed in shrimp fed 1.5 g/kg of WPU diet. Regarding antioxidant defences, the diets supplemented with three levels of WPU stimulated glutathione peroxidase and catalase activates in experimental shrimps. MDA content of L. vannamei‐fed diet containing WPU 1.5 and WPU 1.0 was lower than WPU 0 and WPU 0. 5 diets. Also, lysozyme and phenoloxidase activities of shrimp receiving WPU at 1.0 and 1.5 level were significantly higher than those fed WPU 0 and WPU 0.5 diets. In addition, using WPU extract in all diets decreased mortality in L. vannamei in a dose‐dependent manner after challenge with P. damselae. These results suggest that incorporation of water‐soluble polysaccharides from green algae U. rigida at 1.5 g/kg doses improves growth and antioxidant activity and enhances the immune responses in shrimp L. vannamei. 相似文献

Due to the variations in nutrient quality of soybean meal (SBM) that is a result of differences in production location and processing specifications, a study was conducted to determine the fluctuations in apparent digestibility coefficients of differently sourced SBM fed to Pacific white shrimps (Litopenaeus vannamei). Twenty‐four SBM‐based diets were formulated by mixing a basal diet and test ingredients on a dry matter basis (70:30 ratio), while 1% chromic oxide was used as the inert marker. The digestibility trial was carried out in a semi‐closed recirculation system with six replicate groups per treatment (mean shrimp weight of 10.2 g). Significant differences were observed for apparent dry matter, energy and protein digestibility coefficients (p < .05 was considered significant) among 24 sources of SBM and digestibility values ranged from 45% to 90%, 56% to 93% and 87% to 98%, respectively. Based on multivariate analysis, acid detergent fibre, neutral detergent fibre, lignin, raffinose and trypsin inhibitor were screened as the key chemical characteristics in SBM that influenced digestibility of nutrients in Pacific white shrimps. Variations in growth performances of shrimp were in line with the variations in apparent digestibility coefficients of SBM verifying the importance of digestibility data in shrimp feed formulations. 相似文献

Replacement of fish oil with a DHA‐rich Schizochytrium meal on growth performance, activities of digestive enzyme and fatty acid profile of Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) larvae 下载免费PDF全文
This trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of replacing dietary fish oil with Schizochytrium meal for Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) larvae (initial body weight 4.21 ± 0.10 mg). Six test microdiets were formulated using Schizochytrium meal to replace 0 g/kg, 250 g/kg, 500 g/kg, 750 g/kg, 1000 g/kg or 1500 g/kg fish oil DHA. No significant differences were observed in survival, growth, final body length and activities of digestive enzyme among shrimp fed different diets (p > .05). No significant differences were observed in C20:5n‐3 (EPA) in muscle samples (p > .05). C18:3n‐3 and C20:4n‐6 in muscle increased as Schizochytrium meal replacement level increased (p < .05). No significant differences were observed in C22:6n‐3 (DHA) and n‐3 fatty acids among shrimp fed diets that algae meal replaced 0 g/kg ‐ 1000 g/kg of fish oil. Shrimp fed diet R150 had higher DHA content than other groups and had higher n‐3 fatty acids than that of shrimp fed diets R50, R75 and R100 (p < .05). C18:2n‐6, PUFA and n‐6 fatty acids in muscle increased, while n‐3/n‐6 ratio decreased with increasing algae meal replacement level from 0 g/kg to 1000 g/kg (p < .05). In conclusion, Schizochytrium meal could replace 1500 g/kg fish oil DHA in the microdiets without negatively affecting shrimp larvae survival, growth and activities of digestive enzyme. 相似文献

The antioxidant and oxidative damage responses and immune parameters in shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei, reared in clear water (CW) and in a biofloc system (BFT) were evaluated. The animals were given feed supplemented with either nanocapsules containing the antioxidant lipoic acid (NCLA) or empty nanocapsules (NC). Antioxidant and oxidative stress analyses were evaluated by measuring glutathione S‐transferase activity (GST), reduced glutathione (GSH) concentration and lipid peroxidation (TBARS) in the gills, hepatopancreas and muscle. The immune parameters were then determined by the differential hemocyte count in the haemolymph. The final weight of the shrimp reared in both CW and BFT and treated with NCLA increased (p < .05). The shrimps reared in BFT showed increased GST activity in the gills and hepatopancreas after NCLA treatment (p < .05). Higher GSH levels were observed in the hepatopancreas with NCLA supplementation in CW and BFT (p < .05). Decreased levels of TBARS were observed in the gills and muscles of shrimp supplemented with NCLA and maintained in CW (p < .05). A decrease in the percentage of hyaline hemocytes and an increase in granular hemocytes were observed in shrimp treated with NCLA in CW and BFT (p < .05). The antioxidant treatment induced positive responses in terms of the zootechnical, biochemical and immunological parameters. 相似文献

The experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of oral administration of probiotic Halomonas sp. B12 (previously isolated from the intestine of Fenneropenaeus chinensis) on the intestinal microflora, immunological parameters, and midgut histological structure of F. chinensis. Shrimp (initial weight: 4.00 ± 0.10 g) were fed diets containing Halomonas sp. B12 at 0 (control), 3.68 × 107 (T1), and 7.18 × 1010 (T2) colony‐forming units per gram for 6 wk, respectively. The results showed that the total bacterial counts significantly increased (P < 0.05) with supplementation of dietary probiotic B12. However, Vibrio spp. counts significantly decreased (P < 0.05) in the intestine of shrimp with increasing dietary probiotic B12. Hemocyte counts in the shrimp fed the diets supplemented with probiotic B12 were significantly higher (P < 0.05) than the control group. Both phenoloxidase (PO) activity in plasma and hemocyte lysate supernatant were higher in the shrimp fed diets supplemented with probiotic B12 compared with the control group. No significant difference was found in PO activity in plasma between the T1 and the control (P > 0.05). PO activity in plasma was higher in T2 than that in T1. Cumulative shrimp mortality after 10‐d white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) challenge test significantly decreased with increasing dietary probiotic B12 (P < 0.05). No significant difference was found between T1 and control in cumulative shrimp mortality after challenge test (P > 0.05). The oral administration of probiotic B12 to F. chinensis was beneficial to protect the integrity of shrimp intestinal mucosal layer. In summary, even though the low dose (T1) had some effects on bacterial counts and immunological parameters, only the high dose (T2) significantly increased the resistance of the shrimp to WSSV. 相似文献

An 8‐week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary copper sources on growth performance and intestinal microbial communities of juvenile Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). Four isonitrogenous (420 g/kg crude protein) and isolipidic (70 g/kg crude lipid) experimental diets were formulated to contain different copper sources, Diet NSC (no‐supplemented copper), Diet CS (copper sulphate), Diet Availa (copper amino acid complex from Availa®Cu100) and Diet M (1:1, copper sulphate + copper amino acid complex). A total of 360 Pacific white shrimp juveniles (initial weight: 1.86 ± 0.03 g) were randomly allocated into four groups, with three replicates per group and 30 shrimps each replicate. An Illumina‐based sequencing method was used to analyse the intestinal bacterial composition of shrimp juveniles. The results revealed that shrimps fed Diet M had significantly higher percent weight gain (PWG) than that fed Diet NSC and Diet CS, while there were no significant differences between Diet M and Diet Availa. Survival was not affected by the dietary copper sources. Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes were dominant in the intestines of Pacific white shrimp. Shrimps fed Diet M and Diet Availa had higher bacterial richness and diversity than those fed Diet NSC and Diet CS with no significant differences among all treatments. Furthermore, Diet M and Diet Availa which contained copper amino acid complex reduced the relative abundance of Vibrionaceae in shrimp intestinal tract. This study indicated that dietary copper sources could affect the intestinal microbial communities and diets supplemented with Availa®Cu100 could have a positive impact on the growth performance and decrease the potential risk of disease in Pacific white shrimp. 相似文献

This study aimed to investigate the effects of adding crude extracts of the extracellular protein (Ex‐Pro) and intracellular polysaccharides (In‐Poly) of Vibrio alginolyticus to diets, at a dosage of 10 g/kg, on the growth, energy metabolism and WSSV (White Spot Syndrome Virus) resistance of Litopenaeus vannamei (initial weight, 0.88 ± 0.04 g/shrimp). Growth and survival rate were not significantly affected by the crude extracts (p > 0.05). Shrimp fed Ex‐Pro crude extracts showed higher succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) activity in the hepatopancreas and muscle but lower lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity in the muscle (p < 0.05). The activities of hexokinase (HK), pyruvate kinase (PK), LDH and SDH in the hepatopancreas and the activity of SDH in the muscle were significantly increased by feeding In‐Poly crude extracts (p < 0.05). In contrast, the content of fatty acid synthase (FAS) in the muscle was significantly reduced by the crude extracts (p < 0.05). The contents of glucose and triglyceride and the activity of the electron transport system in the hepatopancreas were significantly increased by the crude extracts (p < 0.05), and the WSSV resistance of the shrimp was increased. These results indicated that the Ex‐Pro and In‐Poly crude extracts of V. alginolyticus could affect energy metabolism, and there was a correlation between WSSV resistance and energy metabolism in L. vannamei. 相似文献

A 57‐day growth experiment was conducted with juvenile gibel carp (13.48 ± 0.10 g) in a flow‐through system to study the effect of dietary phosphorus on growth performance, body composition, nutrition utilization, phosphorus loading and enzymes activities. Seven semipurifed diets were formulated to contain 0.07 (the basal), 2.27, 5.32, 8.10, 12.06, 15.24 and 19.48 g available phosphorus/kg diet. The results showed that specific growth rate, body length and feed efficiency significantly increased in the fish fed diets containing 0.07 to 15.24 g available P/kg diet (p < .05). Ash and P content increased in fish fed diets containing 0.07–12.06 P g/kg (p < .05) and then levelled off, while moisture, crude protein and lipid had no significant difference (p > .05). The protein retention efficiency increased in the fish fed with diets 0.07–5.32 g/kg P (p < .05) and then reached a plateau. The P content in faeces was higher in fish fed diets containing 15.24 and 19.48 g available P/kg. Total P concentration in tank water increased in fish fed 0.07–12.06 g available P per kg diet (p < .05). The plasma P was higher in the fish fed with 15.24 g available P/kg diet (p < .05), triglycerides was lower in the fish fed diet containing 15.24 and 19.48 g available P/kg (p < .05), no significant differences were observed in plasma Ca, plasma glucose and calcitonin (p > .05). Based on SGR, whole body P content and FE, dietary available P requirement for juvenile gibel carp were 13.37, 13.97 g/kg and 15.06 respectively.

Effects of dietary coated protease on growth performance, feed utilization, nutrient apparent digestibility, intestinal and hepatopancreas structure in juvenile Gibel carp (Carassius auratus gibelio) 下载免费PDF全文
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary protease on growth performance, feed utilization, whole‐body proximate composition, nutrient digestibility, intestinal and hepatopancreas structure of juvenile Gibel carp, Carassius auratus gibelio (mean weight 8.08 ± 0.18 g). Six diets were prepared, including a positive control diet (dietary protein 350 g/kg, PC), one negative control diet (dietary protein 33 g/kg, NC) and four protease supplementations diets, which were 75, 150, 300 and 600 mg/kg protease NC diet. After 12 weeks of diet feeding in indoor recycle aquarium tanks, no significant difference (p > .05) was found on growth performance between fish fed diet with 75–600 mg/kg protease and the PC group. Compared with the fish fed the NC diet, the specific growth rate of fish fed 300 mg/kg protease increased significantly (p < .05), as well as protein efficiency ratios (p < .05), while feed conversion was the opposite (p < .05). The nutrient digestibility of crude protein and lipid was higher (p < .05) in fish fed 150 mg/kg protease diet than the PC diet. Whole‐body proximate composition of fish was not affected (p > .05) by the dietary treatment. Serum alkaline phosphatase and albumin were significantly affected by dietary protease (p < .05), while the content of total protein, glucose, triglyceride, total cholesterol, aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase activities in serum was not affected (p > .05). Foregut muscular thickness was thinner (p < .05), when the fish fed diets supplementation of protease in 150 or 600 mg/kg diet than the NC diet. Protease activities in hepatopancreas and foregut were higher (p < .05), in the fish fed 150 or 300 mg/kg protease diet than the fish fed the PC diet, but those in the mid‐ and hindgut were not significantly affected (p > .05) by the dietary treatments. Based on the regression analysis of weight gain rate, the optimal dietary inclusion level of protease was 400 mg/kg in the diet for juvenile Carassius auratus gibelio. 相似文献

The growth performance, body composition, fillet fatty acid content, serum hepatic enzymes and postprandial changes in serum lipid metabolism of hybrid sturgeon (70.8 ± 0.5 g) were investigated to determine the effects of total replacement of 80 g kg‐1 fish oil (diet A) with linseed oil (diet B) and soybean oil (diet C), respectively. No significant differences in weight gain rate and specific growth ratio were observed among all fish groups (p > .05). Diet A fish group had the highest, but diet B fish group had the lowest feed intake (p < .05). Feed efficiency of fish fed diet A was significantly lower than the other two fish groups (p < .05). Fish fed diet A had the lowest fillet and liver lipid contents (p < .05). Serum lactate dehydrogenase, alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase activities of fish fed diet A were significantly lower than those of fish fed diets B and C (p < .05). The contents of linoleic acid (C18:2n6) and linolenic acid (C18:3n3) in fillets showed a significantly positive linear correlation with the diets. Serum glucose and non‐esterified fatty acid were just affected by the time point (p < .05). The lipid source, time point and interaction of both factors had significant effects on serum triglyceride, high‐density lipoprotein cholesterol and low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (p < .05). Serum total cholesterol was only affected by interaction of time point and lipid source (p < .05), and ketone body was not affected by lipid source, time point or interaction of both factors (p > .05). In summary, total replacement of fish oil with linseed oil or soybean oil had no significant adverse effects on hybrid sturgeon growth during 84‐day period, and linoleic acid and linolenic acid in fillet were modified by dietary treatments. 相似文献

Transmission of white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) from Dendronereis spp. (Peters) (Nereididae) to penaeid shrimp 下载免费PDF全文
Dendronereis spp. (Peters) (Nereididae) is a common polychaete in shrimp ponds built on intertidal land and is natural food for shrimp in traditionally managed ponds in Indonesia. White spot syndrome virus (WSSV), an important viral pathogen of the shrimp, can replicate in this polychaete (Desrina et al. 2013); therefore, it is a potential propagative vector for virus transmission. The major aim of this study was to determine whether WSSV can be transmitted from naturally infected Dendronereis spp. to specific pathogen‐free (SPF) Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone) through feeding. WSSV was detected in naturally infected Dendronereis spp. and Penaeus monodon Fabricius from a traditional shrimp pond, and the positive animals were used in the current experiment. WSSV‐infected Dendronereis spp. and P. monodon in a pond had a point prevalence of 90% and 80%, respectively, as measured by PCR. WSSV was detected in the head, gills, blood and mid‐body of Dendronereis spp. WSSV from naturally infected Dendronereis spp was transmitted to SPF L. vannamei and subsequently from this shrimp to new naïve‐SPF L. vannamei to cause transient infection. Our findings support the contention that Dendronereis spp, upon feeding, can be a source of WSSV infection of shrimp in ponds. 相似文献

White spot disease (WSD) caused by white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) creates severe epizootics in shrimp aquaculture industry worldwide. Despite several efforts, no such permanent remedy was yet developed. Selective breeding using DNA markers would be a cost‐effective strategy for long‐term solution of this problem. In the present investigation, out of 30 random primers, only one primer produced a statistically significant (P < 0.01) randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) marker of 502 bp, which provided a good discrimination between disease resistant and disease susceptible populations of Penaeus monodon from three geographical locations along the East coast of India. Because RAPD markers are dominant, a sequence characterized amplified region (SCAR) marker was developed by cloning and sequencing of 502 bp RAPD fragment, which generates a single 457 bp DNA fragment after PCR amplification only in the disease resistant shrimps. Challenge experiment was also conducted to validate this 457 bp SCAR marker, and the results suggested that the WSSV loads were 2.25 × 103 fold higher in disease susceptible than that in disease resistant shrimps using real‐time PCR. Therefore, this 457 bp DNA SCAR marker will be very valuable towards the development of disease‐free shrimp aquaculture industry. 相似文献
