This study was carried out to optimize dyeing conditions of unripe Citrus Unshiu extract on silk fabric and to evaluate antimicrobial activity of the dyed fabric for its potential use as a functional natural dye. Unripe fruits of Citrus Unshiu in Jeju Island, Korea, extracted in 80 % Ethanol solution to final solid dye powder were dyed on silk fabric under a variety of conditions such as dye bath concentrations, temperature, and dyeing duration together with mordanting. Dyeing fastness properties to washing, rubbing, perspiration, and light were tested and the antimicrobial activities of the dyed fabric against Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae were investigated quantitatively. As results, the fabric showed the maximum dye uptake (K/S) under the conditions of 80 °C for temperature, 30 min for duration, and 600 % (o.w.f.) for dye concentration. Both pre- and post-mordanting seemed not to be effective on increasing K/S values of the dyed silk fabrics under the optimum dyeing conditions. Fastness ratings to washing, rubbing, and perspiration were all very good (4–5 grades) for both 300 and 600 % dyed silk fabrics. Excellent antimicrobial activities over 99 % reduction rate against two both bacteria were exhibited for all of dyed fabrics undergone more than 300 % of dye concentration. From these results, it was concluded that the dye concentration of 300 % of unripe Citrus Unshiu could be employed to produce antimicrobial silk fabric. Furthermore, to get more saturated shades on the fabric by the citrus, higher dye concentration such as 600 % was available as well.  相似文献

Transfer printing with disperse dyes on cotton fabric modified with an aqueous tolylene diisocyanate derivative (TDD) was discussed in this paper. The effect of the degree of substitution (DS) on color strength (K/S value) of the modified and transfer printed fabric was investigated. The DS of the cotton fabric increased with increases in TDD concentration and curing temperature and time, while the sample whiteness decreased with the increasing curing temperature and time. And the change of structure of the modified cotton fabric was characterized by FT-IR spectra, DSC curves, and SEM images. All of the factors, such as the concentration and molecular weight of poly(ethylene glycol), the DS of the modified fabric, the transfer printing temperature and time would affect the K/S value of the sample. After transfer printing with disperse dye, the K/S value and printing fastness of TDD-modified cotton fabric were higher than those of cotton control fabric, the change of chromatic difference was not obvious, but the tensile strength of the modified fabric was lower than that of original cotton.  相似文献

This paper assesses the color difference and color strength values (K/S) obtained for eight disperse-dyed polyester fabric samples with different fabric construction parameters (weft yarn type, weft yarn count, weft density and fabric weave) after four sets of abrasion cycles. Warp yarn type and count, warp density, and warp yarn twist are the same for all fabrics. Fabric samples are dyed in a commercial red disperse dye (C.I. Disperse Red 74:1) and four different abrasion cycles (2500, 5000, 7500, 10000) are used. TheK/S values of the abraided fabrics and color difference values between the control fabric (dyed but not abraided) and abraded fabrics are calculated. The main differences in theK/S and color difference values are observed between 0–2500 abrasion cycles. The high tenacity of the polyester fibers and continuous polyester yarns causes some fuzz but no pilling formation on the fabric surface that lead to increasedK/S values and color differences. Fiber dullness, yarn thickness, yarn density and fabric weave are concluded to have different effects on the appearance after abrasion.  相似文献

Two proteolytic enzymes were used as auxiliaries in the dyeing of wool fabrics with acid dyes. The effect of the enzymes on dye exhaustion (%E) and dye uptake (K/S) was studied at 70, 85, and 98 °C and compared to the corresponding values obtained for the control samples which were dyed without enzymes under the same conditions. Two commercially available dyeing auxiliaries commonly used for the dyeing of wool at low temperatures were also used under the same conditions and compared with the dyeings made with and without enzymes. Treatment with transglutaminase was done in order to compensate the damaging effects of protease. The study shows that the enzymes could be used as auxiliaries in the dyeing of wool at lower temperatures.  相似文献

Symplocos spicata (local name: Dom sheng) belonging to Family Symplococeae produces yellowish brown natural dye which has been used for dyeing textiles since ancient times by the Monpas tribe of Arunachal Pradesh. Symplocos spicata (Dom Sheng) was found in the Lumla area of Tawang district. Leaves of the plant are used by the Monpas and Tibetans for extraction of dye. Innovative sonicator dyeing with S. spicata showed that pretreatment with 2–4% metal mordant of the weight of the fabric is optimum showing very good fastness properties for dyed natural polymers such as cotton, wool, and silk. CIELab and K/S of the dyed fabrics were also evaluated. The superiority of sonicator dyeing over conventional dyeing has been established through this study.  相似文献

The controlling effect for dye exhaustion (adsorption) and diffusion (absorption) in a reactive dyeing of cotton is shown to be exerted by ionic strength in the dye solution rather than concentration of inorganic salts used as electrolytes. The study showed that the conclusion applies to both exhaust dyeing for dye exhaustion and pad dyeings for dye diffusion. Further, the addition of an alkali, even though it is not used as an electrolyte, increased the extent of exhaustion (in exhaust dyeing) and diffusion (in pad dyeing) due to increase in ionic strength of the dye solution. Hence, the total ionic strength of reactive dye solution for dye exhaustion and diffusion must be taken into account in order to ensure optimum reproducibility. Means for determining the total ionic strength of exhaust or pad dye solutions for different electrolytes are given.  相似文献

The influence of water vapor plasma on the adsorption of UV absorber during the reactive dyeing of bleached and mercerized cotton fabric was examined. Exhaust dyeing of untreated and plasma-treated cotton was performed using a reactive dye Cibarcon Deep Red S-B and a commercial UV absorber Tinofast CEL. Blank dyeing was performed as a control experiment. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was used to identify the presence of the UV absorber on the cotton fabric, whereas scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to analyze surface changes of untreated and plasma-treated dyed samples. The CIELAB color values and ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) of the samples were determined spectrophotometrically. Wash and light fastness of samples was performed also. The results reveal that the UPF of cotton increases after UV absorber treatment and that plasma treatment increases the adsorption of UV absorber during dyeing process, especially at higher dye concentrations. The enhanced adsorption of UV absorber onto plasma-treated cotton is the result of the increased concentration of oxygen containing functional groups on the cotton surface after plasma treatment, confirmed by XPS. The UPF of plasma-treated cotton samples is decreased after washing and increased after exposure to xenon light.  相似文献

Three new bis azo reactive dyes of different metallic salts (Na, K, Li) were synthesized. The synthesis was obtained by diazotization of 4-amino-2:5 di methoxy phenylene-beta hydroxyl ethyl sulphone sulphate ester and coupling with 1-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid (H-acid) (moles ratio 2:1). The dyes were purified-concentrated by ultrafiltration technology, characterized and applied on cotton, wool and nylon 6,6 fabric by exhaustion (dyeing) and by ink-jet printing. Fastness properties of the dyeings were measured. Wash fastness was investigated according to international standard methods and was found to be very good to excellent in all cases, while light fastness values were medium to low. Ink-jet ink formulations were prepared using the ultra filtrated reactive blue dyes UF RB(a-c) and their properties pH, conductivity, surface tension and viscosity were monitored over a period of 90 days. The inks were used to print digitally cotton and nylon 6,6 samples and wash- and light fastness properties of the prints were measured. Wash fastness properties were excellent while light fastness values are low Colour measurements of the dyeings and prints were conducted.  相似文献

Formulations of acrylamido dyes containing comonomers can be photografted onto cotton fabric upon UV irradiation at room temperature without neutral salts, which makes it a novel coloration process of excellent environmental friendliness. The photografting of the dyes can be assisted by the copolymerization of the acrylamide comonomer which may reduce the steric hindrance of the bulky dyes. About 90 % of the dyes and 94 % of the acrylamide are photopolymerized in the solution and the degree of polymerization is estimated to be 13.2 according to 1H-NMR and MALDI-TOF mass analyses. The optimal K/S values of the grafted cotton fabrics showed 13.3 and 12.3 for red and yellow dyes, respectively. The optimal UV-grafting coloration can be achieved when a UV energy of 25 J/cm2 was irradiated on the padded fabrics with a formulation of 0.65 mole ratio of acrylamide to the dyes, 7 wt% acetophenone photoinitiator (Irgacure 2959) based on the dye weight under pH 6. Furthermore, the color fastness properties of the grafted fabric were superior to those of conventional reactive dyeing of the dyes due to higher molecular weight of the polymerized dyes.  相似文献

Five temporarily solubilized reactive disperse dyes were synthesized and characterized. They were applied to polyester/cotton blend fabric using one-bath dyeing method without dispersing agent. The dye that has azonaphthalene chromophore seemed to not only be exhausted on polyester but also react with cotton. But other dyes were selectively dyed on polyester and showed limited uptake on cotton. Good levelling as well as moderate to good colour fastness was obtained with the dyes on P/C blend fabric.  相似文献

Natural dyes extracted from a novel source Rhynchosia capitata (R. capitata) Heyne ex roth were applied to cotton fabric by applying traditional and pad dyeing processes using pre-, post- and simultaneous-mordanting techniques. Both dyeing processes were carried out in the presence of natural mordants: Myrobalan, Pomegranate rind, Rhizhophora mucronata fruits, Manjistha, and eco-friendly metallic mordants such as tannic acid, stannous chloride (SnCl2), ferrous sulfate (FeSO4), and copper sulfate (CuSO4). The range of color developed on dyed materials was evaluated in terms of (L*, a*, b*, C*) CIELAB coordinates and dye absorption concentration on textile materials was studied by using K/S values. Natural mordant Rhizhopora mucronata fruits exhibited good absorption value. It was found that metallic mordants FeSO4 and CuSO4 exhibited higher K/S values than SnCl2. For other mordants except FeSO4 shade developed on cotton fabric varied from pale yellow to brown. The fastness properties ranged from good to excellent. High pressure thin layer chromatographic analysis for solvents of varying polarity has been investigated and maximum yield was obtained from 80 % aqueous ethanol fraction. Antimicrobial activity was carried out with the aid of two human pathogenic strains, Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumonia and the cotton fabric dyed with plain extract of R. capitata shows good activity.  相似文献

Reactive dyes are used widely in cotton dyeing process. Reactive dyeing uses high amounts of inorganic salts to accelerate dye exhaustion. These salts are then discharged to the effluent, leading to serious environmental problems. Biodegradable organic salts can alternatively be used in the dyeing process. In this paper, a new liquid organic salt was synthesized by acid-base neutralization, which was used to replace inorganic salts in reactive dyeing. Dye exhaustion in organic salt dyeing was similar to the values in conventional dyeing. However, dye fixations were slightly lower in organic salt dyeing than in conventional dyeing. The washing fastness of dyed fabrics with organic salt was excellent. Experimental results showed that dye exhaustion reached the maximum value when the concentration range of organic salt was from 20 g/l to 40 g/l. In addition, the optimal alkali concentration in organic salt dyeing was found to be about 30 g/l. These parameters suggested organic salt could replace inorganic salt in reactive dyeing process.  相似文献

Dyeing characteristics and fastness of 100 % m-aramid fiber with some commercial dyes were investigated on various dyeing conditions, such as using a swelling agent and electrolyte as auxiliaries. Among commercial dyes used, the basic dyes showed comparatively higher exhaustion yield comparing to those of disperse dyes and acid dyes. Under acidic conditions in the range pH 3 to 5, preferably between pH 3 and 4, the stability of cationic dyes could be enhanced leading to higher adsorption. Dye exhaustions of trichromatic dyes were increased proportionally to concentration of swelling agents ranging from 1 to 4 g/l. The addition of electrolyte provided increased K/S values after washing process compared with those of blank dyeings, where the greatest effect was observed with NaNO3.  相似文献

Dyeing and color fastness properties of a reactive disperse dye containing an acetoxyethylsulphone group on PET, Nylon, silk and N/P fabrics were examined. The reactive disperse dye exhibited almost the same dyeing properties on PET fabric as a conventional disperse dye except the level of dye uptake. The most appropriate pH and dyeing temperature for the dyeing of Nylon fabric were 7 and 100°C respectively. The build-up on Nylon fabric was good and various color fastnesses were good to excellent due to the formation of the covalent bond. Application of the reactive disperse dye on silk fabric at pH 9 and 80°C yielded optimum color strength. The rate of dyeing on Nylon fabric was faster than that on PET fabric when both fabrics were dyed simultaneously in a dye bath, accordingly color strength of the dyed Nylon was higher. The reactive disperse dye can be applied for one-step and one-bath dyeing of N/P mixture fabric with good color fastness.  相似文献

The objective of the present study was to examine the reliability and compatibility of three methods for quantifying the unfixed form of heterobifunctional reactive dye type monochlorotriazine/β-sulfatoethylsulfone used in dyeing cellulosic fibers (cotton). The first method is based on spectrophotometric analysis by measuring the absorbance of residual dyebath (after dyeing process) and residual soaping bath (after washing-off phase), the second one is based on colorimetric analysis by measuring the reflectance of dyed fabric, and the third on high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) technique. The purpose of the latter is to identify and quantify the hydrolyzed and inactive forms of dye in residual soaping bath. The calculated unfixed dye rates unequivocally prove the reliability and compatibility of these methods. According to the availability of the required laboratory instruments, we can select the most suitable method in every case, though the tests proved that the HPLC technique is most efficient.  相似文献

Coloration of textiles, traditionally achieved using natural dyes, commonly employs synthetic dyes at the industrial level. A revival of commercial interest in natural dyes has opened several research avenues. This paper investigates the application by padding of cotton fabric with 10 g/l of two natural dyes derived from the Acacia plant family. Three mordanting techniques were studied; of which post-mordanting produced the most even shade. Among the two mordants investigated, the use of copper sulfate resulted in a level beige shade at 15 g/l concentration while ferrous sulfate performed best at 5 g/l yielding a yellow-grey shade. An optimum process-sequence for the copper sulfate mordant was “pad (dye)→dry→steam followed by pad (mordant)→steam→dry”, and for ferrous sulfte it was “pad (dye)→steam→dry followed by pad (mordant)→steam→dry”. Typically a change in mordant resulted in a different shade with the same dye. The study concluded that padding is a readily adaptable process for the dyeing of cotton using natural dyes and acceptable fastness in shades can be obtained.  相似文献

A new trial to determine the dyeing properties of cotton and silk fabrics with a black cowpea seed coat as crop waste was investigated. The natural dye anthocyanins were extracted from a black cowpea seed coat in an aqueous solution and used to dye silk and cotton. The optimal conditions for colorant extraction were an aqueous solution of a dried seed coat of black cowpea in a 1:10 liquor ratio at 70 °C for 4 hours with pH of 4. The best dye-uptake of silk and cotton fabric were obtained when the pH was 3.5 and 3.0 respectively, the temperature was 80 °C for 1 hour and the liquor ratio of black cowpea was 1:20. Different colors as dusky brown, brown, faint yellow, light green, reddish brown, cyan and green could be obtained using a various kind of mordants. The depth and brightness of color tones were affected by different dyeing and mordanting pH conditions. The colors of the fabrics were examined using a computer color matching system in terms of the K/S values and CIELAB color-difference values. The dyeing was evaluated using standard light, wash and heat fastness tests. Good wash and heat fastness were obtained but the poor light fastness indicated the need for improvement to fulfill the requirement for textile applications.  相似文献

Aramid fibers have been known to difficult to dye with conventional dyes and dyeing techniques because of its extremely high crystallinity and compactness. In order to make the aramid fibers dyeable to a bright color in deep shade, meta-aramid fabrics were photografted under continuous UV irradiation with dimethylaminopropyl methacrylamide (DMAPMA) and benzophenone as a monomer and a hydrogen-abstractable photoinitiator respectively. Several factors affecting the photografting treatment of the meta-aramid fabrics were investigated including monomer and photoinitiator concentrations. ATR, ESCA and SEM analysis indicated significant alterations on the chemical structure and atomic composition of the photografted fabric surface and the fabric surface was covered with the grafted polymers. While the pristine meta-aramid fabrics showed no appreciable dyeability to the α-bromoacrylamide type reactive dyes, the grafted aramid fabrics showed the remarkably enhanced dyeability to the reactive dyes, which was proportional to the graft yield indicating the covalent bond formation between the dyes and the secondary amino groups in the grafted DMAPMA. In case of C.I. Reactive Red 84, a K/S value of 14.8 can be obtained with the grafted meta-aramid fabrics with a graft yield of 7.6 % (w/w). Also and the color fastness properties of the dyed fabrics was excellent in the conditions of washing, rubbing and solar irradiation.  相似文献

Three unreported cationic reactive dyes based on azobenzene were synthesized using a novel synthetic route. Synthesized dyestuffs containing three primary color dyes were characterized by FTIR, H-NMR, LC-MS, Element Analysis and UV-vis spectroscopic techniques. The absorption spectra of dyes were measured in three solvents with different polarities. The dyeing and color fastness properties of three cationic reactive dyes on wool, acrylic and wool/acrylic blend fabrics were determined. The optimum pH for wool and acrylic fabrics were 6 and 5, respectively. Effect of temperature, time on dyeing properties and color fastness properties on wool fabric showed the same tendency with acrylic fabric. The K/S value of wool fabric dyed with three dyes was similar to that of acrylic fabric when both fabrics were dyed simultaneously in the same dyebath using low dye concentration. Wool/acrylic blend fabric dyed with three cationic reactive dyes using onebath one-step method achieved good union dyeing property and excellent color fastness.  相似文献

In this paper, a comparison between a mathematical and an experimental method for the evaluation of some process components of polyester microfibre dyeing is presented. In the experimental part, a dyeing procedure was chosen, K/S values of the dyed samples were measured and the coefficients of the mathematical formula presented in the mathematical part were obtained. K/S values of different dyeing procedures were also measured. In the mathematical part, predicted K/S values were calculated by a novel formula. The results of the two methods were then compared. According to the results obtained, the mathematical formula presented in this study can be used for calculating the predicted K/S values at lower dye concentrations.  相似文献
