The aim of this investigation was to study the effect of K-diformate on the intraluminal pH, microbial composition in digesta and feces, organic acids along the digestive tract, and alterations of the gastric epithelium of pigs. Pigs (n = 36) weaned at 28 d of age were allotted to two groups and fed without (control diet) or with 1.8% supplemental K-diformate. Fecal samples were taken from the rectum on d 0, 1, 3, 5, 7, 14, 21, and 28 postweaning. Half of the animals from each group were killed on d 7 and the other half on d 29 postweaning. Growth performance was not different for both groups (P > or = 0.73). The gastric epithelium was not negatively affected by K-diformate (P = 0.25). Potassium-diformate decreased (P < or = 0.04) or tended to decrease (P < or = 0.10) the counts of total anaerobic bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, and yeasts in feces and digesta samples from the stomach, distal small intestine, cecum, and middle segment of the colon. The pH along the gastrointestinal tract of piglets was not affected by K-diformate (P > or = 0.30). On d 7, the concentration of lactic acid along the gastrointestinal tract was similar with both diets (P = 0.15). On d 29, the concentrations of lactic acid tended to be lower along the small intestine (P < or = 0.08) and the stomach (P = 0.11) of the pigs fed K-diformate. Formic acid in digesta was detected at significant levels only in the distal segment of the small intestine of the control pigs (from 4 to 11 mmol/kg of wet digesta), whereas considerable amounts were measured in the stomach (from 23 to 40 mmol/kg of wet digesta) and all segments of the small intestine (from 7 to 25 mmol/kg of wet digesta) in the K-diformate-fed pigs on both days. On d 7, pigs fed the K-diformate diet had a tendency (P < or = 0.08) to have higher concentrations of organic acids (acetic + propionic + butyric) in the digesta of the distal small intestine, cecum, and proximal colon. On d 29, both groups had similar concentrations of these acids, irrespective of the segment of the gastrointestinal tract (P = 0.95). Our study showed that the addition of K-diformate to a starter diet for piglets decreased total anaerobic bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, coliforms, and yeasts in feces and in digesta from various segments of the gastrointestinal tract, without affecting the gastric or intestinal pH.  相似文献

The objective of this experiment was to investigate the possibility of estimating the outflow of nutrients and microbial protein from the rumen based on sampling reticular contents as an alternative to duodenal sampling. Microbial protein flow estimates were also compared with a third method based on sampling of ruminal contents. Reticular and duodenal digesta and ruminal contents were recovered from 4 cows used in a 4 x 4 Latin square design experiment, in which the ruminal effects of 4 exogenous enzyme preparations were studied. Large and small particulate and fluid markers were used to estimate digesta flow in a triple-marker model; 15N was used as a microbial marker. Reticular and duodenal digesta were segregated into small and large particles (SP and LP, respectively) and a fluid phase, and ruminal digesta was segregated into particulate and fluid phases. Compared with digesta recovered at the duodenum, reticular digesta had lower OM and greater NDF contents. The proportion of microbial N was notably greater in the fluid phase of reticular digesta. Ruminal outflow of DM and OM was greater (by 17 and 28%) and that of NDF was lower (by 14%) when estimated from duodenal compared with reticular samples. There was no difference in the estimated flow of starch and nonammonia and microbial N between the reticular and duodenal techniques. Microbial N flow estimated based on ruminal sampling was similar to those based on duodenal and reticular sampling. The ruminal method, however, grossly overestimated flow of DM, OM, and NDF. This study supports the concept that microbial protein outflow from the rumen can be measured based on sampling of ruminal or reticular digesta. The reticular sampling technique can also provide reliable estimates for ruminal digestibility of OM, N, and fiber fractions. These findings need to be confirmed in experiments with basal diets varying in structure and forage-to-concentrate ratios.  相似文献

A total of 260 New Zealand White growing rabbits were used to study the effect of diet on chemical composition of cecal contents and on production and composition of soft and hard feces. Eight diets varying in their acid detergent fiber (9.8% to 32.7%) and starch (13% to 30%) levels were evaluated. The diet affected (P less than .01) all the variables studied, except dry matter (DM) and molar proportions of volatile fatty acids on cecal contents. An increase of dietary crude fiber increased crude fiber level in cecal contents (from 11.58% to 26.53%). However, a relatively lower proportion of fibrous material was found in the cecal contents when rabbits were fed the more fibrous diets. This suggests that dietary fiber has a direct influence on the efficiency of particle separation in the digestive tract. Crude protein and volatile fatty acid concentrations of cecal contents decreased (from 30.14% to 19.65% and from 47.8 to 36.7 mmol/liter, respectively) when dietary crude fiber increased. This could be related to availability of energy to cecal microorganisms. Ammonia concentration of cecal contents was not affected by dietary crude fiber. Daily production of soft feces varied from 14.98 to 29.59 g DM/d, and the contribution of soft feces to total DM and to crude protein intake ranged from 10.6% to 15.0% and from 12.8% to 20.5%, respectively; these values were the smallest and the largest for the least and the most fibrous diets, respectively. From this study we conclude that dietary fiber has a major effect on the digestive processes in the rabbit and that dietary starch level has no influence on any of the variables studied.  相似文献

An in vivo experiment was conducted to monitor the changes in fermentation end products in the feces of weaning piglets due to the inclusion of selected fermentable carbohydrates in the diet. The experiment involved 3 groups of 16 piglets each. Specially raised piglets (neither antibiotics nor creep feeding) were weaned abruptly at 4 wk of age. The piglets were offered 1 of 2 dietary treatments [a control diet (CON), or a fermentable carbohydrate-enriched diet (CHO)] and were subjected to 1 of the 2 fasting treatments (fasting for 2 d at the beginning of the experimental period or nonfasting). Fecal samples were collected per rectum every day during the experimental period. Piglets were slaughtered at the end of the 10-d experimental period, and digesta samples were collected from different parts of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT): the first half of the small intestine, the second half of the small intestine, the cecum, and colon. The DM, VFA profile, and ammonia concentrations were analyzed from the fecal and digesta samples. Daily feed intake was also recorded. There was no difference in concentrations of VFA in feces between the treatment groups. Ammonia concentration was lower (P < 0.05) in piglets fed the CHO diet compared with those fed the CON diet in both feces and digesta from different parts of GIT. Fasting had no effect on fermentation end products in feces. This study demonstrated that the inclusion of fermentable carbohydrates in weanling diets reduces protein fermentation along the GIT and also reduced the fecal concentration of ammonia.  相似文献

Re-entrance cannulae were applied by way of operations at the end of the small intestine of a larger number of growing pigs. After a post-operative phase these animals were fed with various rations (N-free diet, fattening feed for pigs, rations with dried skim milk resp. wheat gluten + lysine and wheat + wheat gluten + lysine). During the main experiment periods the ileum digesta (24 hour-periods of collecting) and the feces were quantitatively registered. The protein and amino acid content ascertained in the feed rations, the digesta and feces samples are reported, comparatively evaluated and discussed. The amount of amino acids (in mg per kg intake of dry matter) contained in the ileum digesta after N-free feeding were statistically calculated with regard to differences occuring between the animals and days. For most amino acids a significant decrease in the ileum digesta could be detected during the course of the N-free feeding period. Moreover, the amount of amino acids in the ileum digesta was compared with the metabolic fecal amino acids, from which conclusions could be drawn concerning the disappearance rate of the individual amino acids in large intestine.  相似文献

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of sugar alcohol as an energy source for cecal microbes on digestibility, cecotrophy (i.e. reingestion of microbial products of cecum, cecotrophs) and performance in rabbits. Thus, we fed rabbits an experimental diet that included 5% of D-mannitol, and collected hard feces and cecotrophs to be analyzed for crude protein (CP), acid detergent fiber (ADF), ether extract (EE), crude ash (CA) and dry matter (DM). Cecotrophic behavior of the rabbits was also observed. Feeding D-mannitol increased ( P  < 0.01) digestibility of ADF, resulting in a decrease ( P  < 0.05) in the concentration in hard feces. The increase ( P  < 0.05) in CP concentration was attributed to lower ( P  < 0.05) digestibility. D-mannitol had a similar modulatory effect on CP and ADF concentrations in hard feces and cecotrophs. Accordingly, estimations of the proportion of nutrients recycled by cecotrophy to dietary intake (PR), obtained by the two calculation methods, showed an increase ( P  < 0.01) in PR of CP and a decrease ( P  < 0.05) in that of ADF. Daily weight gain and feed efficiency increased ( P  < 0.05) for D-mannitol-fed rabbits, while daily feed intake decreased ( P  < 0.05). These results suggest the possibility of using D-mannitol as a stimulator of cecal microbial growth and cellulolytic activity, and therefore, improved rabbits performance.  相似文献

This experiment was conducted to study the effects of different dietary crude protein levels on the nutrient absorbability in the small intestine of lambs.Three Kazakh lambs (30 kg body weight) fitted with permanent ruminal,duodenal and ileal fistula were selected.3×3 Latin square design was adopted.A dual-phase marker system with LiCr-EDTA and Yb-Ac as the liquid-phase or particulate-phase digesta flows maker was adopted to measure the true digesta flows at duodenal and ileal fistula,respectively.The results showed that nitrogen intake,total tract apparent digestibility,N deposition,the apparent digestibility of dry matter and organic matter were significantly increased with increasing levels of dietary crude protein (P<0.05),but had no significant effects on intestinal digesta flows (P>0.05).Increasing dietary crude protein levels had significant effects on most part of nutrients of duodenal digesta except fat and purine (P<0.05),while it only significantly effected CP,Ash,dry matter,neutral detergent fibre and acid detergent fiber of ileal digesta flows (P<0.05).In addition,intestinal absorbability of nutrients except for CP,Ash,dry matter,neutral detergent fibre and acid detergent fiber were significantly affected with increasing levels of dietary crude protein(P<0.05).The test provided basis for further study of the effects of dietary CP level on the digestibility and utilization of lamb.  相似文献

本研究旨在比较不同粗蛋白质(CP)水平日粮对育肥羔羊小肠养分吸收率的影响。选用体重30 kg左右,安装有瘤胃、十二指肠近端和回肠末端瘘管的3只哈萨克育肥羊为试验动物,采用3×3拉丁方试验设计,采用醋酸镱(Yb-Ac)、锂铬乙二胺四乙酸(LiCr-EDTA)分别作为消化道固相和液相食糜标记物测定小肠食糜流量。结果显示,增加全混合日粮中CP水平可显著提高育肥羊N的进食量、全消化道表观消化率和N沉积(P<0.05),显著提高干物质(DM)和有机物(OM)的表观消化率(P<0.05),但对小肠食糜流量无显著影响(P>0.05);提高日粮CP水平对十二指肠食糜除EE和嘌呤外的营养成分流量均产生显著的影响(P<0.05),仅对回肠食糜中CP、粗灰分(Ash)、DM、中性洗涤纤维(NDF)和酸性洗涤纤维(ADF)流量的影响显著(P<0.05),且对CP、Ash、DM、NDF和ADF的小肠吸收率影响显著(P<0.05)。本试验为进一步深入分析增加日粮CP水平对其在育肥羊体内的消化利用奠定基础。  相似文献

The influence of fiber source on fiber digestion in rabbits was investigated. Six fibrous feedstuffs with wide differences in chemical composition and particle size were selected: paprika meal, olive leaves, alfalfa hay, soybean hulls, sodium hydroxide-treated barley straw, and sunflower hulls. Six diets were formulated to contain one of these ingredients as the sole source of fiber. To avoid nutrient imbalances, fiber sources were supplemented with different proportions of a fiber-free concentrate, based on soy protein isolate, wheat flour, lard, and a vitamin and mineral mix, to obtain diets containing at least 3% nitrogen and 5% starch. Daily soft feces excretion, and its NDF, and total and microbial nitrogen content were determined in 60 fattening rabbits (10 per diet). Seven days after the last cecotrophy control, the same animals were used to determine weight of stomach, cecum and their contents, and cecal fermentation traits (pH, VFA and ammonia concentrations, and buffer properties of cecal contents). Stepwise regression analysis showed a positive effect (P < .001) on soft feces excretion, total and microbial nitrogen concentrations in soft feces, cecal acidity, and total VFA in the cecum of dietary pectic constituents (2.9, 3.5, 2.5, .9, and 6.6%) and proportion of fine particles (< .315 mm) (1.8, .9, 1.3, .15, and .9%) per each increment of one percentage unit of the independent variables. Proportion of fine particles also increased weight of cecal contents (P < .001). Soft feces excretion and weight of stomach and of its contents increased (P < .001) by 5.2, 2.8, and 10.2% per each percentage unit increment of proportion of large particles (> 1.25 mm). Degree of lignification of NDF decreased total nitrogen concentration in soft feces and cecal VFA concentration (P < .001). Source of fiber affected cecal pH not only by its influence on the cecal concentrations of the final products of fermentation, but also through its effect on the pH of dry cecal contents (P < .001). The latter was negatively correlated with dietary proportion of fine particles, degree of lignification of NDF, and base-buffering capacity of dry cecal contents (r = -.52, -.37, and -.49, respectively). From these results, we conclude that pectic constituent concentration, degree of lignification of NDF, and particle size are the variables that best characterize the influence of the source of fiber on soft feces excretion and cecal fermentation traits in rabbits.  相似文献

The present experiment aimed to obtain basic knowledge of the role of the cecum in the digestion of protein, fiber and energy, and in the retention of digesta in rats. Twelve healthy male Sprague–Dawley strain rats were used. The experiment lasted for 8 weeks following preliminary feeding. Crude protein [CP], acid detergent fiber [ADF], and energy digestibilities were measured in weeks 1, 4, and 7 of the experiment, while the digesta retention time was measured in weeks 2, 5, and 8. At the end of the test, the colon capacity was measured after killing the rats with diethyl ether. The effects of the cecectomy were not recognized in bodyweight gain, even while the feed intake was high and the feed efficiency was low due to the cecectomy. However these effects were not recognized in the latter half of the test periods. The mean retention time of digesta for the cecectomized rats was about 2 h shorter than that for the control group of rats, while the retention time of digesta in week 8 increased compared to weeks 2 and 5. The digestibility of each substance was significantly lower following the cecectomy. The colon became swollen because of the cecectomy and this swollen colon made up for the capacity of the dissected cecum. It had been considered that the cecum does not play a role in the digestion of nutrition for growth, however, the present results showed two types of effects of cecectomy: one that disappears in accordance with time after surgery (i.e. feed intake and feed efficiency), and another that continues for a longer period (i.e. digestibility, retention time of digesta).  相似文献

本试验旨在利用末端限制性片段长度多态性技术研究不同纤维来源饲粮和细胞壁降解酶对猪肠道微生物菌群多样性及其组成结构的影响。试验选用8头平均体重为(35.0±2.5)kg的"杜×长×大"三元杂交生长猪,统一安装回肠末端T型瘘管,随机分为4组,每组2个重复。试验分4期,每期每组猪按4×4拉丁方设计饲喂小麦麸、小麦麸加酶、大豆皮和大豆皮加酶4种试验饲粮之一。每期预试期15 d,正试期6 d。试验结果表明:1)大豆皮饲粮组猪回肠食糜微生物的多样性显著高于小麦麸饲粮组(P0.05)。2)小麦麸饲粮组显著提高猪回肠食糜中普氏菌属(Prevotella)和乳酸杆菌属(Lactobacillus)的丰度(P0.05),而大豆皮饲粮组则显著提高猪回肠食糜中瘤胃球菌属(Ruminococcus)及粪便中拟杆菌属(Bacteroides)、毛螺菌属(Lachnospira)的丰度(P0.05)。3)添加细胞壁降解酶显著提高各饲粮组猪回肠食糜中Lachnospira、真细菌属(Eubacterium)及粪便中Lachnospira的丰度(P0.05),但也同时降低了回肠食糜中Lactobacillus、Prevotella及粪便中Lactobacillus、Bacteroides和克雷伯氏菌属(Klebsiella)的丰度(P0.05)。综上所述,纤维饲粮可显著提高猪肠道内非淀粉多糖降解菌的丰度,而细胞壁降解酶则可选择性改变肠道微生物菌群的多样性及其组成。  相似文献

Members of the genus Equus are large, nonruminant herbivores. These animals utilize the products of both enzymatic digestion in the small intestine and bacterial fermentation (volatile fatty acids) in the cecum and large colon as sources of metabolizable energy. Equine animals rely primarily upon oropharyngeal and external stimuli to control the size and duration of an isolated meal. Meal frequency, however, is regulated by stimuli generated by the presence and (or) absorption of nutrients (sugars, fatty acids, protein) in both the large and small intestine plus metabolic cues reflecting body energy stores. The control of feeding in this species reflects its evolutionary development in an environment which selected for consumption of small, frequent meals of a variety of forages.  相似文献

Antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) is caused by the treatments of broad-spectrum antimicrobials that seriously affect the activity and composition of the large intestinal microflora. The pathogenic bacteria or low concentration of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) has been repeatedly discussed in relation to AAD. Recently, we reported the detection of a large amount of succinate and lactate in the diarrheal feces in AAD-induced piglets. In this study, we investigated histologically the large intestinal mucosa in AAD-induced piglets, in which succinate and lactate were accumulated. AAD was induced in the piglets by an oral dose of polymyxin B sulfate (PL) or by an intra-muscular injection of enrofloxacin (ERFX). When the piglets were defecating diarrheal feces with a high concentration of succinate and/or lactate, the large intestine was removed and separated into four segments (cecum, gyri centripetales, gyri centrifugales, and rectum). Healthy piglets were used as the control. In the AAD-induced piglets, the lamina propria was edematous in the gyri centripetales. Piglets treated with ERFX were also edematous in gyri centrifugales. These edematous lamina propria contained larger amounts of inflammatory cells than observed in control tissues. ERFX-treated piglets had a more shallow crypt than PL-treated and control piglets. The mucosal tissue of the large intestine was more seriously damaged in the ERFX- than in the PL-treated piglets, which might have been caused by the high succinate and low SCFAs concentration in the digesta.  相似文献

An experiment examining nutritional effects of dietary corncob particle size was conducted using ruminal-, duodenal- and ileal-cannulated sheep in a 4 X 4 Latin square design. Site of nutrient digestion and digesta flow were the principal criteria evaluated. Analyses of dry matter (DM), N, starch and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) were performed on feed, feces and digesta samples. Chromic oxide-impregnated paper was used as an external marker to estimate digestibilities at different sites along the gastrointestinal tract. Ruminal pH and volatile fatty acid molar proportions were also determined. All diets (74.9% concentrates: 25.1% corncobs) were pelleted and were similar in ingredient composition but varied in corncob particle size (corncob mean particle sizes were 6.5, 5.4, 1.4 or .8 mm). Dietary crude protein levels differed little among treatments. Starch concentration was higher in diets containing the larger corncob particles while NDF, acid detergent fiber (ADF), cellulose and hemicellulose concentrations were lower in diets containing larger particles, suggesting a reaction between starch and fiber moieties during the pelleting process. Starch flow past the duodenum decreased (P less than .05) as dietary corncob particle size decreased. Apparent NDF digestion before the duodenum was highest for sheep fed diets containing 1.4-mm corncobs (P less than .05). Apparent starch digestion in the small intestine decreased (P less than .05) as dietary corncob particle size decreased. A considerable amount of NDF was apparently digested in the small intestine of sheep consuming diets containing 5.4- and .8-mm corncobs. 本试验研究芽孢杆菌、乳酸杆菌对断奶仔猪肠道微生物区系、肠道pH和挥发性盐基氮(VBN)的影响。试验选取28日龄左右的"杜×长×大三元"杂交仔猪24头,随机分为3组,每组4个重复,每个重复2头,进行为期30 d的饲养试验,试验结束后收集盲肠和结肠内容物用于微生物、pH和VBN的测定。结果表明,芽孢杆菌和乳酸杆菌均使得盲肠与结肠中乳酸杆菌相对数量都升高,降低盲肠内容物pH,结肠内容物pH升高,并降低了肠道内VBN含量。因此,芽孢杆菌和乳酸杆菌均能改善肠道微生物区系,降低肠道蛋白质的腐败变质。  相似文献

测定分析了超越馨香和福椒六号辣椒品种秸秆不同采收时间(初期、中期和末期)、部位(叶片、侧枝和主秆)辣椒素、二氢辣椒素和营养成分含量。结果显示:辣椒品种对秸秆辣椒素和二氢辣椒素含量有极显著影响(P<0.01),超越馨香秸秆辣椒素和中期采收的秸秆二氢辣椒素含量显著高于福椒六号,但末期采收的秸秆二氢辣椒素含量显著低于福椒六号(P<0.05);秸秆辣椒素和二氢辣椒素含量明显低于果实,超越馨香秸秆辣椒素和二氢辣椒素平均含量约为果实的11.2%和10.7%,福椒六号约为8.0%和12.0%;全株辣椒秸秆粗蛋白14.79%~16.72%,粗灰分11.20%~11.48%,粗纤维28.55%~33.82%,与苜蓿对应成分含量接近。由此可见,辣椒秸秆含有一定量的辣椒素、二氢辣椒素和营养成分,其含量与品种、采收时间和部位有关,可以作为草食动物的粗饲料来源或提取辣椒素的原料。  相似文献

目的通过给SD大鼠灌喂石榴汁,研究其体重增加和粪便及盲肠内容中鞣花酸及尿石素A含量,为深层次研究鞣花酸及尿石素A的生物学作用提供数据支持。方法选择24只平均体重为(169.08±7.88)g的雄性SD大鼠,随机分为3组,每组8只,分别为对照组、试验Ⅰ组和试验Ⅱ组。在相同日粮基础上,试验Ⅰ组大鼠每天每只灌喂1.5 mL石榴汁,试验Ⅱ组大鼠每天每只灌喂3.0 mL石榴汁,并获取大鼠体重数据及采集粪便及盲肠内容物样品。结果①试验Ⅱ组大鼠日增重显著(P<0.05)高于对照组,比对照组高36.32%;②灌喂石榴汁显著(P<0.05)增加大鼠粪便鞣花酸和尿石素A的含量;③灌喂石榴汁后,试验Ⅰ组和试验Ⅱ组大鼠盲肠中鞣花酸和尿石素A的含量均极显著(P<0.01)高于对照组。结论给大鼠灌喂石榴汁可以显著提高大鼠体重,显著或极显著提高大鼠粪便和盲肠内容中鞣花酸和尿石素A的含量,且灌喂3 mL/(只·d)效果最佳。  相似文献

Four purebred domestic cats examined because of diarrhea were found to have Pentatrichomonas hominis, a rarely reported trichomonad parasite, in their feces. Treatment with a combination of metronidazole and enrofloxacin tended to improve consistency of the feces, whereas treatment with metronidazole alone reduced the number of P hominis trophozoites in fecal smears but did not necessarily result in an improvement in clinical signs. Two cats were euthanatized. Necropsy revealed lymphoplasmacytic enterocolitis with eosinophils and eosinophilic globular leukocytes, neutrophils in the mucosa of the colon and within intraluminal contents of the cecum, and P hominis trophozoites in intraluminal contents of the colon and cecum.  相似文献

The aim of the current study was to elucidate the effect of gastrointestinal retention time of digesta on fiber digestibility in adult rabbits fed indigestible, but fermentable, sugar D‐mannitol. Six adult rabbits were fed alternately a commercial diet containing 5% glucose and a diet containing D‐mannitol. Total feces and urine were collected during the experimental period. Nitrogen (N) balance, digestibility of nutrients, and gastrointestinal mean retention time (MRT) were measured. The results indicated that urinary excretion was significantly lowered, whereas N retention and N accumulation rates were significantly increased in the D‐mannitol group compared with the glucose group (P < 0.05). However, fecal N excretion was unaffected. Absorption of crude ash (CA) and acid detergent fiber (ADF) digestibility were significantly higher in the D‐mannitol group compared with the glucose group (P < 0.05). The addition of D‐mannitol to the diet did not affect the MRT of liquid digesta, but increased the MRT of solid digesta compared with the glucose group (P < 0.05). These results suggest that the addition of D‐mannitol to the diet stimulates cecal bacterial growth, thereby increasing N utilization and digesta retention time.  相似文献
