The endogeic earthworm Pontoscolex corethrurus (Müller, 1857) was the most abundant species (75%) in soil contaminated with hydrocarbons, mostly benzo(a)pyrene (BaP), in the state of Tabasco (Mexico). The earthworm P. corethrurus was tested for its capacity to remove 100 mg BaP kg−1 from an Anthrosol soil (sterilized or not) and amended with legume Mucuna pruriens (L.) DC. var. utilis (Wall. ex Wight) Baker ex Burck (3%) or the grass Brachiaria humidicola (L.) DC (3%) (recently renamed as Urochloa humidicola (Rendle) Morrone & Zuloaga) in an aerobic incubation experiment. P. corethrurus removed 26.6 mg BaP kg−1 from the sterilized soil and application of B. humidicola as feed increased this to 35.7 mg BaP kg−1 and M. pruriens to 34.2 mg BaP kg−1 after 112 days. The autochthonous microorganisms removed 9.1 mg BaP kg−1 from the unsterilized soil and application of B. humidicola increased this to 18.0 mg BaP kg−1 and M. pruriens to 11.2 mg BaP kg−1. Adding P. corethrurus to the unsterilized soil accelerated the removal of BaP and 36.1 mg kg−1 was dissipated from soil. It was found that the autochthonous microorganisms removed BaP from soil, but addition of P. corethrurus increased the dissipation 4-fold. The endogeic earthworm P. corethrurus can thus be used to remediate hydrocarbon-contaminated soils in tropical regions.  相似文献

Earthworms can be used to remove polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from soil, but this might affect their survival and they might accumulate the contaminants. Sterilized and unsterilized soil was contaminated with phenanthrene (Phen), anthracene (Anth) and benzo(a)pyrene (BaP), added with or without Eisenia fetida, sewage sludge or vermicompost. Survival, growth, cocoon formation and concentrations of PAHs in the earthworms were monitored for 70 days. Addition of sewage sludge to sterilized or unsterilized soil maintained the number of earthworms and their survival was 94%. The addition of sludge significantly increased the weight of earthworms 1.3 times compared to those kept in the unamended soil or in soil amended with vermicompost. The weight of earthworms was significantly lower in sterilized than in unsterilized soil. Cocoons were only detected when sewage sludge was added to unsterilized soil. A maximum concentration of 62.3 μg Phen kg−1 was found in the earthworms kept in sterilized soil amended with vermicompost after 7 days and 22.3 μg Phen kg−1 when kept in the unamended unsterilized soil after 14 days. Concentrations of Phen in the earthworms decreased thereafter and ≤2 μg kg−1 after 28 days. A maximum Anth concentration of 82.5 μg kg−1 was found in the earthworms kept in sterilized soil amended with vermicompost and 45.8 μg Anth kg−1 when kept in the unamended unsterilized soil after 14 days. A maximum concentration of 316 μg BaP kg−1 was found in the earthworms kept in sterilized soil amended with vermicompost after 56 days and 311 μg BaP kg−1 when kept in the unsterilized soil amended with vermicompost after 28 days. The amount of BaP in the earthworm was generally largest after 28 days, but after 70 days still 60 μg kg−1 was found in E. fetida when kept in the sterilized soil amended with sewage sludge. It was found that E. fetida survived in PAHs contaminated soil and accumulated only small amounts of the contaminants, but sewage sludge was required as food for its survival and cocoon production.  相似文献

The bioremediation effects of three biostimulants (BS): WCDS, wheat condensed distillers soluble; PAHE, hydrolyzed poultry feathers; and RB, rice bran extract in a soil polluted with two rates of benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) (50 or 100 mg kg−1 soil, respectively) over 90 days were studied. Their effects on the soil biochemical properties (ATP and urease and phosphatase activities) and ergosterol were determined. Also, extractable BaP in soils was determined during the incubation period. An non-polluted and non-organic-amended soil was used as control. The results indicated that at the end of the incubation period and compared with the control soil, the ATP, ergosterol, urease and phosphatase activities decreased 29.4%, 24.8%, 44.7% and 42.9%, respectively in the non-organic amended soil polluted with polluted 100 mg BaP kg−1 soil. The application of biostimulants to unpolluted soil increased the biochemical parameters. However, this stimulation was higher in the soil amended with PAHE, followed by RB and WCDS. The application of BaP in organic-amended soils decreased the biochemical properties. However, this decrease was lower than for the non-amended BaP polluted soil. Possibly the low molecular weight protein content easily assimilated by soil microorganisms is responsible for less inhibition of these soil biochemical parameters.  相似文献

During the past couple of decades, understanding of rhizosphere biology has progressed with the discovery of a special group of microorganisms known as plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and its application for sustainable agriculture has increased tremendously in various parts of the world. The search for microorganisms that improve soil fertility and enhance plant nutrition has continued to attract attention due to the increasing cost of fertilizers and some of their negative environmental impacts. In this study we demonstrated, a novel bacterial species Pontibacter niistensis NII-0905 isolated from forest soil in Western ghat forest soil with potential plant growth promoting ability (PGP) such as phosphate solubilization, indole acetic acid (IAA), siderophore and hydrogen cyanide (HCN) production. The activity varies with different growth temperatures, strain solubilize 28.5 ± 0.9, 48.02 ± 1.9 and 65.07 ± 2.1 μg mL−1 at 4, 15 and 30 °C respectively and produced 24.8 μg mL−1 day−1 of indole acetic acid (IAA) in tryptophan amended media. Qualitative detection of siderophore production and HCN were also detected at all temperature tested. At a lower temperature (4 °C) strain NII-0905 retained all the plant growth promotion attributes. A significant increase in the growth of cow pea was recorded with inoculations of strain NII-0905 in pot experiments. Scanning electron microscopic study revealed the root colonization on cow pea seedlings against the untreated one. These results demonstrate that, the isolate NII-0905 has the promising PGPR attributes for both in cold as well as in humid condition. It has potential as a biofertilizer to enhance soil fertility and promote the plant growth.  相似文献

This study assessed the effect of mycorrhizal colonization by Glomus intraradices (Gi) and G. versiforme (Gv) on the bacterial community composition in the rhizosphere of canola, clover and two tomato genotypes (wild type (76R) and its mutant with reduced mycorrhizal colonization (rmc)). Additionally, the effect of light intensity on the rhizosphere bacterial community composition of the tomato genotypes was studied. The bacterial community composition was assessed by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE). In canola, which is considered to be a non-mycorrhizal species, inoculation with Gi increased the shoot dw compared to Gv and the non-mycorrhizal control plants and also induced changes in the bacterial community composition in the rhizosphere. These fungal effects were observed although less than 8% of the root length of canola was colonized. On the other hand, about 50% of the root length of clover was colonized and inoculation with Gv resulted in a higher shoot dw compared to Gi or the control plants but the rhizosphere bacterial community composition was not affected by inoculation. Plant growth, mycorrhizal colonization and bacterial community composition of the two tomato genotypes were affected by a complex interaction between tomato genotype, AM fungal species and light intensity. Low light intensity (photosynthetic photon flux 200–250 μmol m−2 s−1) increased the shoot–root ratio in both genotypes and reduced colonization in the wild type. The differences in bacterial community composition between the two genotypes were more pronounced at low than at high light intensity (550–650 μmol m−2 s−1).  相似文献

In central Veracruz, Mexico, many coffee plantations are managed using agrochemicals for weed control, with glyphosate-based herbicides (GBH) the most commonly used. To date, however, no studies in this region have characterized the soil biological and physicochemical properties in coffee plantations under such glyphosate application. In this study, earthworms were used as bioindicator organisms by measuring differences in the earthworm community in plots within shaded coffee plantations, with and without repeated applications of glyphosate. Differences in earthworm-induced soil processes, such as water infiltration rates, potential net carbon mineralization rates and soil physicochemical properties were also evaluated. Eight plots were selected in shaded coffee plantations; four had received regular applications of GBH over the preceding 22 years, while the other four had received no herbicides over the preceding 7 years. The earthworm species found in plots with no GBH treatment were Pontoscolex corethrurus (99%) and Amynthas corticis (1%), while A. corticis was absent in plots that had been treated with GBH. Significant differences (P < 0.01) in earthworm density (168 ± 16 and 353 ± 37 ind m−2) and biomass (22.7 ± 1.1 and 45.4 ± 6.9 g m−2) were observed in soils with and without GBH, respectively. No significant difference (P = 0.08) was observed in the water infiltration rate (2 × 10−4 ± 4 × 10−5 and 4 × 10−4 ± 1 × 10−4 cm s−1 with and without GBH, respectively). Soil carbon flow was greater in plots with GBH (76 ± 7 μg dry soil−1 d−1) than in those without GBH (62 ± 1 μg dry soil−1 d−1, P < 0.005). Significant differences (P < 0.05) were found in pH and in the clay, silt and Ca content of the soil. Our findings indicated reduced species number, density and biomass of earthworms, and increased net carbon mineralization rate in plots with GBH. The plots managed with glyphosate presented a negative effect on the earthworm parameters measured, and we conclude that the earthworms therefore acted as indicators of perturbation. It is also possible that this effect could be due to factors unrelated to the glyphosate that were not considered in this study, such as chemical fertilization or legume litter spatial variability, among others.  相似文献

Carbon dioxide emissions from soils beneath canopies of two Mediterranean plants, Artemisia absinthium L. and Festuca pratensis Huds. cv. Demeter, were monitored over a 7-day period that included an artificial precipitation event of 4 cm. The experiments were conducted using 0.2 m3 soil microcosms inside greenhouses with CO2 concentrations of either 360 or 500 μmol mol−1. Carbon dioxide flux from the soil surface, as calculated using a diffusive transport model agreed well with CO2 flux measurements made using a dynamic flow system. Soil CO2 emissions did not differ significantly between the 360 and 500 μmol mol−1 CO2 treatments when soils were dry (volumetric soil moisture content ≤9%). A simulated precipitation event caused an immediate exhalation of CO2 from soil, after which CO2 emissions declined slightly and remained constant for approximately 36 h. CO2 emissions from soil microcosms with F. pratensis plants growing in 500 μmol mol−1 CO2 then rose to levels that were significantly greater than CO2 emissions from soils in the microcosms exposed to 360 μmol mol−1 CO2. For A. absinthium growing in 500 μmol mol−1 CO2, the rise in soil CO2 emissions following the wetting event was not significantly greater than emissions from soils with A. absinthium growing under 360 μmol mol−1 CO2. A. absinthium above ground biomass increased by 46.1 ± 17.9% (mean ± S.E., n = 4, P ≤ 0.05). Above ground biomass did not significantly increase for F. pratensis (14.4 ± 6.5%, P ≥ 0.10). Root biomass, on the other hand, increased for both species; by 50.6 ± 17.9% (P ≤ 0.05) for A. absinthium and by 55.9 ± 12.7% (P ≤ 0.05) for F. pratensis. Our results demonstrate two events following precipitation onto dry soils, an immediate release of CO2 followed by a gradual increase from enhanced biological activity The gradual increase was greater for the herbaceous ruderal perennial F. pratensis under elevated CO2.  相似文献

The relationship between the two radiant fluxes is studied from almost a 3-year data archive of hourly photosynthetically active photon flux (QP) and global solar irradiance (RS) performed at Athalassa, Cyprus. These data are used to determine temporal variability of the ratio (QP/RS) and its dependence on sky conditions. The seasonal variation of the ratio obtained from daily data ranges from 1.942 E MJ−1 (summer) to 1.892 E MJ−1 (winter) with an annual mean value of 1.919 E MJ−1. The ratio increased from 1.865 to 2.01 E MJ−1 (daily values) or from 1.878 to 2.197 μE J−1 (hourly values), as sky conditions changed from clear to overcast. Effective atmospheric parameters such as sky clearness, brightness and path length were found to cause substantial changes to the PAR fraction.  相似文献

It is reported a simple approach to transform daily values of grass net (all-wave) radiation (Rn, MJ m−2 day−1), as measured over standard grass surface at meteorological stations, into whole tree canopy net radiation (A, MJ tree−1 day−1). The revolving Whirligig device [McNaughton, K.G., Green, S.R., Black, T.A., Tynam, B.R., Edwards, W.R.N., 1992. Direct measurement of net radiation and photosynthetically active radiation absorbed by a single tree. Agric. For. Meteorol. 62, 87–107] describing a sphere about the tree measured A in five trees of different species (walnut, dwarf apple, normal apple, olives and citrus), with leaf area LA varying from 8.65 to 40 m2. For each tree, A and Rn were linearly related (A = bRn), as previously reported elsewhere, but it was found that the slope of such regression was also a linear function of LA or, b = 0.303 (±0.032) LA. Consequently, the hypothesis that total daily tree canopy net radiation per unit leaf area is linearly related to grass net radiation could not be rejected after 86 days of measurements in five locations, and the empirical relationship is A = 0.303 (±0.032) RnLA (R2 = 0.9306).  相似文献

The geochemistry of soil formation in central Amazonia, Brasil, was investigated by studying the waters draining off small podzolic, ferrallitic or mixed catchment areas. Dissolved, colloidal and particulate fractions were obtained by cascade filtration and tangential-flow filtration. The organic carbon, Fe, Si, Al concentrations and the complexing capacity with regard to Cu2+ were determined for each fraction. In the waters draining podzolic areas, bulk concentrations were in the range 25.0–38.1 mg L 1 for organic carbon, 240–280 μg L 1 for Fe, 130–630 μg L 1 for Al and around 0.9 mg L 1 for Si. Fe mainly migrates as organo-metallic complexes, while Al migrates roughly half as inorganics in the particulate fraction and half as small species likely inorganic in the dissolved fraction. The result is the leaching of all elements and the relative accumulation of residual quartz. In the waters draining ferrallitic areas, bulk concentrations were in the range 1.2–1.9 mg L 1 for organic carbon, 45–55 μg L 1 for Fe, 106–220 μg L 1 for Al and around 1.9 mg L 1 for Si, this later concentration remaining below saturation with quartz. Most elements were transported in the dissolved fraction, except 10% of Si which was in the particulate fraction, likely as quartz, and 40–45% of Al which was in the colloidal fractions, likely as Al-hydroxides. The result is a relative enrichment of the soil in Si with regard to Al. The soils strongly control the physico-chemical characteristics of the forest stream waters, and their transport capacity with regard to complexable metals. Moreover, our results showed that the behaviour of Al with regard to organic matter was different from the behaviour of Fe.  相似文献

The ultimate goal of soil remediation is to restore soil health. Soil microbial parameters are considered to be effective indicators of soil health. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of phytoextraction on microbial properties through the measurement of soil microbial biomass carbon, soil basal respiration and enzyme activities. For this purpose, a pre-stratified rhizobox experiment was conducted with the Cd hyperaccumulator Sedum alfredii H. for phytoextraction Cd from an artificial contaminated soil (15.81 mg kg−1) under greenhouse conditions. The plant and soil samples were collected after growing the plant for three and six months with three replications. The results indicated that the ecotype of S. alfredii H. originating from an ancient silver mining site was a Cd-hyperaccumulator as it showed high tolerance to Cd stress, the shoot Cd concentration were as high as 922.6 mg kg−1 and 581.9 mg kg−1 at the two samplings, and it also showed high BF (58.4 and 36.8 after 3 and 6 months growth), and TF (5.8 and 5.1 after 3 and 6 months growth). The amounts of Cd accumulated in the shoots of S. alfredii reached to an average of 1206 μg plant−1 after 6 months growth. Basal respiration, invertase and acid phosphatase activities of the rhizosphere soil separated by the shaking method were significantly higher (P < 0.01) than that of the near-rhizosphere soil and the unplanted soil after 3 months growth, so were microbial biomass carbon, urease, invertase and acid phosphatase activities of the rhizosphere soil after 6 months growth. Acid phosphatase activity of the 0–2 mm sub-layer rhizosphere soil collected by the pre-stratified method after 3 months growth was significantly higher (P < 0.05) than that of other sub-layer rhizosphere soils and bulk soil, and so were microbial biomass carbon, basal respiration, urease, invertase and acid phosphatase activities of the 0–2 mm sub-layer rhizosphere soil after 6 months growth. It was concluded that phytoextraction by S. alfredii could improve soil microbial properties, especially in rhizosphere, and this plant poses a great potential for the remediation of Cd contaminated soil.  相似文献

Sulphur transformations were monitored in a unique set of arable, grassland and woodland soils from the Broadbalk Classical Experiment, which started in 1843. In an open incubation experiment with periodic leaching, 14–35 mg SO42−-S kg−1 was mineralised in 28 weeks at 25°C, equivalent to 4.4–8.3% soil organic S. Cumulative amounts of S mineralised increased linearly during the 28 weeks, indicating constant rates of mineralisation. The rate of mineralisation was the greatest in the woodland soil (170 μg SO4-S kg−1 day−1), followed by the grassland (120 μg SO4-S kg−1 day−1) and the arable soil from the farmyard manure (FYM) plot (110 μg SO4-S kg−1 day−1). Three soils from arable plots receiving different inorganic fertiliser treatments but no FYM had similar rates of S mineralisation (~70 μg SO4-S kg−1 day−1). In an incubation experiment with 35SO42−, addition of glucose greatly enhanced S immobilisation. In 132 days, the woodland and grassland soils immobilised more S than the arable soils, with or without glucose amendment. Immobilisation and mineralisation of S occurred concurrently, and both were stimulated by glucose addition. The results show that S mineralisation and immobilisation were influenced strongly by the type of land-use and long-term organic manuring, whereas annual application of sulphate-containing fertilisers for over 150 years had few effects on short-term S transformations.  相似文献

Wheat production (Triticum aestivum L.) has increased across the world during last century with the intensification of agriculture. Phosphorus (P) fertilization is a common practice to improve wheat growth in Argentina. We investigate whether indigenous arbuscular mycorrhizal colonization (AMC) of hard red spring wheat is controlled by shoot P content (SPc) or by available soil P in an agricultural soil from the southeastern Argentine Pampas. In the field, AMC was monitored four times during two growing seasons of a conventional wheat crop. Treatments were: without P supply, annual supply of 11 and 22 kg P ha−1 during the last 5 years, and 164 kg P ha−1 applied once 5 years before the experiment. In the glasshouse, AMC was assessed three times in wheat growing in pots filled with the soil from unfertilized plots; treatments were: P (0 and 20 mg P pot−1), and nitrogen (N) fertilization (0 and 150 mg N pot−1). A range of soil P between 6 and 60 mg P kg−1 was obtained and the AMC ranged from 1% to 67% of root length colonized under both field and glasshouse conditions. P supplied annually increased growth and SPc but decreased AMC. N fertilization did not affect growth or AMC. Variations in SPc did not account for AMC. Variability in AMC was best accounted for local current soil available P content (r2 = 0.59). A linear-plateau relationship between soil P and indigenous AMC was established in wheat plants growing under contrasting environmental and experimental (field and glasshouse) conditions. Indigenous AMC was depressed by available soil P in the range 0–27 mg P kg−1 (a decrease of 2.8% mg P−1 kg−1). Above 27 mg P kg soil−1, AMC was stabilized at about 10%. Grain yield increased with fertilization and the highest relative shoot dry matter in field was obtained at 15.5 mg P kg soil−1. The soil P range that ensures high wheat production without deterring indigenous AMC is discussed.  相似文献

The interrelationships between plants and rhizosphere bacteria are strongly dependent on the quality and quantity of root exudates. The ability to colonize roots is crucial for pseudomonads to function as biological control agents of root- and soil-borne pathogenic microbes. The multiplication of rhizosphere bacteria is restricted in the presence of simple phenolic compounds, which are components of the resistance mechanisms of plants to pathogens. Caffeic acid is a phenolic compound, which is commonly found in wheat tissues. It is prone to oxidation into o-quinones, which are toxic to microorganisms. The aim of the present study was to determine whether the ability of microorganisms to resist caffeic acid and its oxidation products could play a role in the early colonization of wheat seedlings. Among the fluorescent pseudomonads that we have studied, strain PSR114 is one of the most efficient colonizers of wheat seedlings during the first 48 h after seed germination, and it is particularly resistant to products resulting from the spontaneous oxidation of caffeic acid. This strain was isolated from the rhizosphere of oilseed rape and identified as being closely related to Pseudomonas proteolytica through the analysis of 16S rRNA and rpoB gene sequences. At pH 7.0, this strain grew intensively in the presence of 1.50 mg mL−1 of caffeic acid. Its multiplication was partially reduced in the presence of oxidized caffeic acid at concentrations above 0.21 mg mL−1, and completely inhibited at concentrations above 0.38 mg mL−1. A Tn5 transposon mutant of PSR114 had lower level of resistance to the oxidation products of caffeic acid, as well as reduced capacity to colonize wheat seedlings when compared to the wild type strain. This work demonstrates that resistance to oxidation products of caffeic acid can be important for successful bacterial colonization of wheat seedlings.  相似文献

Senescent leaves of Miscanthus sinensis contained 36% soluble polysaccharides, 26% cellulose and had a C/N ratio of 45. In 11 wild flower species contents of soluble polysaccharides (21–30%), cellulose (3–16%) and C/N ratio (13–31) were lower. Decomposing leaves of M. sinensis lost weight at a rate of 0.002 day−1, increased the C/N ratio from 45 to about 100, the bacterial biomass from 0.4 to 1 μg C mg−1 dry weight, and decreased the tensile strength from 35 to 10 N. The withdrawal rate of Lumbricus terrestris with senescent leaves of M. sinensis was 30 mg g−1 week−1; the feeding rate was lower. With most senescent wild flowers withdrawal and feeding rates were higher. During decomposition of M. sinensis withdrawal rates increased to about 90, and feeding rates to about 30 mg g−1 week−1. The rates were not related to soluble polysaccharides, cellulose, acid-insoluble residue, C/N ratio and the presence of trichomes on the leaves. The abundance of L. terrestris decreased in a meadow turned into a field of M. sinensis from 55 to 26 earthworms m−2 and increased in a rotational maize field turned into wild flower strips from 28 to 46 earthworms m−2. The species richness of earthworms decreased with M. sinensis from 7.2 to 4.7 and increased with wild flowers from 4.7 to 6.7 species per sampling unit.  相似文献

The distribution of vegetation types in Venezuelan Guyana (in the ‘Canaima’ National Park) represents a transitional stage in a long term process of savannization, a process considered to be conditioned by a combined chemical and intermittent drought stress. All types of woody vegetation in this environment accumulate large amounts of litter and soil organic carbon (SOC). We hypothesized that this accumulation is caused by low microbial activity. During 1 year we measured microbial biomass carbon (Cmic), microbial respiration and soil respiration of stony Oxisols (Acrohumox) at a tall, a medium and a low forest and with three chemical modifications of site conditions by the addition of NO3, Ca2+ and PO43− as possible limiting elements. Due to high SOC contents, mean Cmic was 1 mg g soil−1 in the mineral topsoil and 3 mg g soil−1 in the forest floor. Mean microbial respiration in the mineral topsoil and the forest floor were 165 and 192 μg CO2-C g soil−1 d−1, respectively. We calculated high mean metabolic quotients (qCO2) of 200 mg CO2-C g Cmic−1 d−1 in the litter layer and 166 mg CO2-C g Cmic−1 d−1 in the mineral topsoil, while the Cmic-to-SOC ratios were as low as 1.0% in the litter layer and 0.8% in the mineral topsoil. Annual soil respiration was 9, 12 and 10 Mg CO2-C ha−1 yr−1 in the tall, medium and low forest, respectively. CO2 production was significantly increased by CaHPO4 fertilization, but no consistent effects were caused by Ca2+ and NO3, fertilization. Our findings indicate that Cmic and microbial respiration are reduced by low nutrient concentrations and low litter and SOC quality. Reduced microbial decomposition may have contributed to SOC accumulation in these forests.  相似文献

Underestimation of nocturnal CO2 respiration using the eddy covariance method under calm conditions remains an unsolved problem at many flux observation sites in forests. To evaluate nocturnal CO2 exchange in a Japanese cypress forest, we observed CO2 flux above the canopy (Fc), changes in CO2 storage in the canopy (St) and soil, and trunk and foliar respiration for 2 years (2003–2004). We scaled these chamber data to the soil, trunk, and foliar respiration per unit of ground area (Fs, Ft, Ff, respectively) and used the relationships of Fs, Ft, and Ff with air or soil temperature for comparison with canopy-scale CO2 exchange measurements (=Fc + St). The annual average Fs, Ft, and Ff were 714 g C m−2 year−1, 170 g C m−2 year−1, and 575 g C m−2 year−1, respectively. At small friction velocity (u*), nocturnal Fc + St was smaller than Fs + Ft + Ff estimated using the chamber method, whereas the two values were almost the same at large u*. We replaced Fc + St measured during calm nocturnal periods with a value simulated using a temperature response function derived during well-mixed nocturnal periods. With this correction, the estimated net ecosystem exchange (NEE) from Fc + St data ranged from −713 g C m−2 year−1 to −412 g C m−2 year−1 in 2003 and from −883 g C m−2 year−1 to −603 g C m−2 year−1 in 2004, depending on the u* threshold. When we replaced all nocturnal Fc + St data with Fs + Ft + Ff estimated using the chamber method, NEE was −506 g C m−2 year−1 and −682 g C m−2 year−1 for 2003 and 2004, respectively.  相似文献

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (AMF) can enhance plant growth and resistance to toxicity produced by heavy metals (HMs), affect the bioavailability of HMs in soil and the uptake of HMs by plants, and thus has been emerged as the most prominent symbiotic fungus for contribution to phytoremediation. A greenhouse pot experiment was conducted to assess the effect of Glomus versiforme BGC GD01C (Gv) on the growth and Cd accumulation of Cd-hyperaccumulator Solanum nigrum in different Cd-added soils (0, 25, 50, 100 mg Cd kg−1 soil). Mycorrhizal colonization rates were generally high (from 71% to 82%) in Gv-inoculated treatments at all Cd levels. Gv colonization enhanced soil acid phosphatase activity, and hence elevated P acquisition and growth of S. nigrum at all Cd levels. Moreover, the presence of Gv significantly increased DTPA-extractable (phytoavailable) Cd concentrations in 25 and 50 mg Cd kg−1 soils, but did not affect phytoavailable Cd in 100 mg Cd kg−1 soil. Similarly, inoculation with Gv significantly increased Cd concentrations of S. nigrum in 25 and 50 mg Cd kg−1 soils, but decreased Cd concentrations of the plants in 100 mg Cd kg−1 soil. Overall, inoculation with Gv greatly improved the total Cd uptakes in all plant tissues at all Cd levels. The present results indicated that S. nigrum associated with Gv effectively improved the Cd uptake by plant and would be a new strategy in microbe-assisted phytoremediation for Cd-contaminated soils.  相似文献

Nitrogen mineralization and nitrification in the soil of sub-alpine ruderal community of Mount Uludağ, Bursa, Turkey was measured for 1 year, under field conditions with Verbascum olympicum and Rumex olympicus being the dominant pioneer species under dry and wet sites, respectively. Seasonal fluctuations were observed in N mineralization and nitrification. The net N mineralization and nitrification were high in early summer and winter, due to high moisture. The annual net N mineralization rate (for the 0–15 cm soil layer) was higher under R. olympicus (188 kg N ha−1 yr−1) than under V. olympicum (96 kg N ha−1 yr−1). A significant positive correlation between net N mineralization and soil organic C (r2 = 0.166), total N (r2 = 0.141) and water content (r2 = 0.211) was found. Our results indicate that N mineralization rate is high in soils of ruderal communities on disturbed sites and varies with dominant species and, a difference in net N mineralization rate can be attributed to organic C, total N and moisture content of soils.  相似文献

Soil loss due to crop harvesting (SLCH) has been established as an important soil erosion process that has significantly contributed to soil degradation in highly mechanised agriculture. This has stimulated the need to investigate the importance of this process of erosion under low input agriculture where, until now, only water and tillage erosion are known as important phenomena causing soil degradation. This study was conducted in Eastern Uganda with the following objectives: (1) to assess the amount of soil lost due to the harvesting of cassava roots and sweet potato tubers under low input agriculture, (2) to look into the factors that influence variations in these soil losses, and (3) to estimate the amount of plant nutrients lost due to SLCH for cassava and sweet potato. Soil sticking to roots and tubers was washed and the soil suspension oven dried to estimate the amount of soil lost after harvesting. Mean annual soil loss for cassava was 3.4 tonnes ha−1 and for sweet potato was 0.2 tonnes ha−1. Ammonium acetate lactate extractable soil nutrient losses for cassava were N = 1.71 kg ha−1 harvest−1, P = 0.16 kg ha−1 harvest−1, K = 1.08 kg ha−1 harvest−1 and for sweet potato were N = 0.14, P = 0.01 kg ha−1 harvest−1, K = 0.15 kg ha−1 harvest−1. Difference in soil loss due to crop harvesting for cassava and sweet potato could be due to: (1) smaller yields of sweet potato leading to smaller soil losses on an area basis, (2) smoother skin and less kinked morphology of sweet potato that allowed less soil to adhere, and (3) the fact that sweet potato is planted in mounds which dry out faster compared to the soil under cassava. Soil moisture content at harvesting time and crop age were significant factors that explained the variations in the soil lost at cassava harvesting. Soil loss under cassava justifies the need to conduct further investigations on this process of soil erosion under low input agriculture.  相似文献
