The concentration of ovine placental lactogen (oPL) in maternal plasma varies with litter size and nutritional status, making it difficult to compare these concentrations across studies. In this study, 27 Dorset and Finn-Dorset crossbred ewes with litters of known size and gestational age were used to relate concentrations of oPL in maternal plasma to placental and fetal weights. Fetal oPL concentrations also were correlated to these variables in 12 chronically catheterized singleton fetuses. The concentration of oPL in maternal plasma increased with increasing placental weight across litter sizes ranging from 1 to 3 (r = .716). When expressed per gram of placenta, oPL was greater (P less than .05) in those ewes carrying multiple fetuses. There was no correlation between maternal and fetal oPL in time-matched samples or in average values between individuals for ewes carrying singleton pregnancies. Within the singleton group, placental weight and fetal weight were well correlated (r = .761), as were the concentration of fetal plasma oPL and fetal weight (r = .699). Placental weight plus fetal oPL could explain 81% of the variation seen in fetal weight. These results imply that maternal and fetal oPL release are controlled independently and that fetal oPL affects fetal growth by a mechanism not directly related to placental size.  相似文献

Pure-bred embryos were transferred within and reciprocally between large (Suffolk) and small (Cheviot) breeds of sheep to establish 4 treatment groups: SinS (Suffolk embryos in Suffolk dams), SinC (Suffolk embryos in Cheviot dams), CinS (Cheviot embryos in Suffolk dams), and CinC (Cheviot embryos in Cheviot dams). The recipient ewes carried single fetuses to term. The maternal plasma concentrations of ovine placental lactogen (oPL), progesterone, IGF-1, FFA, and glucose were measured on d 50, 90, 120, and 140 of pregnancy. Birth weight, body dimensions, and placental characteristics of lambs were recorded at birth. There was a recipient ewe breed × lamb breed × time interaction for the concentration of oPL (P = 0.03), but no such interaction was observed for progesterone (P = 0.42), IGF-1 (P = 0.57), glucose (P = 0.36), or FFA (P = 0.72). There were no differences in oPL (P = 0.28) and progesterone (P = 0.34) concentrations between SinC and SinS ewes. The concentrations of FFA on d 140 (P = 0.008), and those of glucose on d 50 (P = 0.02) and 120 (P = 0.01), were greater in SinC ewes than in SinS ewes. The ewes in CinS had less FFA concentration (P = 0.002) at all time points than CinC ewes. The concentrations of IGF-1 on d 90 were greater (P = 0.004) in CinS ewes than CinC ewes, but did not differ (P = 0.16) on d 50, 120, and 140. The concentrations of glucose on d 50 (P = 0.001), 90 (P = 0.03), and 140 (P = 0.03) were less in CinS ewes compared with CinC ewes. The birth weight of SinC lambs (5.04 ± 0.20 kg) was lighter (P = 0.001) than SinS lambs (5.94 ± 0.19 kg), and body dimensions of SinC lambs were smaller (P = 0.01) than SinS lambs. Neither birth weight nor the body dimensions of CinS lambs differed (P = 0.24) from CinC lambs. Cotyledon number was reduced (P = 0.04) in the CinS (57.5 ± 6.3) compared with the SinS group (74.2 ± 5.9), whereas mean cotyledon weight in CinS (2.42 ± 0.20 g) was greater (P = 0.02) than SinS (1.74 ± 0.21 g). It was concluded that the large genotype lambs were lighter and smaller when born to small genotype dams; however, the birth weight or body dimensions of small genotype lambs did not differ when born to large genotype dams. This study suggests that plasma oPL, progesterone, IGF-1, FFA, and glucose concentrations at different times throughout pregnancy reflect the regulatory effect of the uterine environment on the development of the fetus.  相似文献

The onset of growth retardation was investigated in fetal lambs following experimental infection of pregnant ewes with Border Disease virus ( ) on day 53 of pregnancy. Fetuses from control and infected ewes were harvested at weekly intervals between day 60 and day 95 of gestation and morphometric studies were completed on tibial radiographs and tibial growth cartilage metaphyseal junctions. Mean tibial areas were significantly reduced (P<0·01) in fetuses from infected ewes at 35 and 42 days after infection and growth cartilage metaphyseal junctions were less mature in fetuses from infected ewes at 42 days after infection. Positive immunostaining for BDV antigen was demonstrated in the brains of all fetuses from infected ewes between 14 and 42 days after infection. Attempts to demonstrate BDV antigen in bone proved unsuccessful. It is concluded that intrauterine growth retardation is an early manifestation of BDV infection in lambs and that the process is initiated shortly following infection of the fetus.  相似文献

Simultaneous fetal and maternal ovine placental lactogen (oPL) and prolactin (oPRL) measurements were determined from blood samples collected from six mixed breed (MB; gestation = 141.5 +/- .7 d) pregnancies and single Rambouillet (n = 2; Ra gestation = 148 and 149 d) and Finnish Landrace (n = 2; Finn gestation = 141 and 143 d) pregnancies for the purpose of examining a possible relationship between fetal-maternal oPL and oPRL levels in the prepartal period. The MB pregnancies were produced by embryo transfer and consisted of genetically different fetuses co-existing in a common uterine environment. Despite the apparent prematurity of Ra co-twins in MB pregnancies, similar oPL and oPRL patterns during the final 14 d of gestation were observed for both Ra and Finn co-twins. Fetal oPL levels decreased at parturition (range 23 to 90 ng/ml) to approximately 60% of values recorded 8 d prepartum (range 100 to 150 ng/ml) in both fetal siblings. Increases in fetal oPRL concentrations, first observed at approximately 4 d prepartum in all fetuses, reached peak concentrations (40 to 60 ng/ml) at term. Results of this study suggest a similarity in regulation of fetal oPL and oPRL secretion, despite genetic differences for gestation period, in fetuses in the M.B. pregnancy.  相似文献

Nineteen pregnant (45 to 90 days of gestation) and 9 nonpregnant ewes were inoculated orally with 1,000 or 10,000 oocysts of Toxoplasma gondii. Pregnant ewes were euthanatized at days 14 (2 ewes), 21 (1 ewe), 23 (1 ewe), 28 (2 ewes), 35 to 42 (6 ewes), and 49 to 62 (6 ewes), and antibody titers in fetal and maternal sera were assayed, using the modified agglutination, latex agglutination, indirect hemagglutination, and dye tests. Although all ewes developed antibody titers of greater than or equal to 1,024 within 28 days after inoculation, fetuses were seronegative up to 28 days, using the modified agglutination test. Toxoplasma gondii antibodies were found in fetuses, using the modified agglutination and dye tests 35 days after ewes were inoculated. Latex agglutination and indirect hemagglutination tests were insensitive for detection of T gondii antibodies in ovine fetal sera. Toxoplasma gondii antibody titers in nonpregnant ewes were similar to those in pregnant ewes. Passively acquired T gondii antibodies from the colostrum decreased from 1,024 to less than 16 between 49 and 56 days of age in 1 lamb and between 62 and 106 days in its twin.  相似文献

This is the first study of Sarcocystis-induced abortion in sheep. Eleven pregnant ewes were experimentally inoculated with 50,000, 100,000, or 500,000 Sarcocystis ovicanis sporocytis from dogs. Eight ewes either aborted, died, or became moribund before term; they produced 15 fetuses, 11 of normal appearance and 4 necrotic. No evidence of intrauterine transmission was obtained. All infected ewes became anemic, inappetent, and lost weight. Ewes inoculated with the greatest numbers of sporocysts exhibited the most striking signs of acute illness. At necropsy of acutely ill ewes the heart was the most severely affected organ, appearing nearly black as a result of hemorrhagic pancarditis. Less hemorrhage was seen in the kidney, liver, spleen, and skeletal muscles. Microscopically, schizonts were found in capillary endothelial cells of most organs 24 to 33 days after inoculation. Ewes surviving the acute illness appeared generally unthrifty and exhibited the additional signs of wool breaking, and nervous disturbances. At postmortem, the heart and kidneys of these ewes were moderately hemorrhagic, and the adrenal glands and mesenteric lymph nodes were enlarged. Microscopically, sarcocysts were found in the heart, diaphragm esophagus, tongue, skeletal and eye muscles, cerebellum, and cerebrum.  相似文献

以绵羊及其胎儿为试验对象,研究了胆酸负荷对妊娠后期母体和胎儿血浆胰岛素样生长因子-2(in-sulin-like growth factor-2,IGF-2)及其代谢物水平的影响。将7只确知妊娠时间的绵羊分为试验组5只和对照组2只,试验前装置颈静脉瘘,在妊娠90h和104d2闪给试验组静脉灌注胆酸盐1.1mg/kg,给对照组静脉灌注等量生理盐水,妊娠120d时手术安装胎儿后肢胫前动脉血管瘘。每天采胎儿和母体的血样,分离血浆,测定血浆IGF-2和主要代谢物水平。同时测定胎儿出生时生长发育指标。结果表明:(1)试验组母羊IGF-2水平低于对照组,相反其胎儿IGF-2水平却高于对照组(P<0.05);(2)试验组母羊的总蛋白和乳酸水平分别比对照组35.64%;(3)试验组胎儿出生重比对照组小29.00%,胎龄短7.50d。因此认为,胆酸重复灌注可引起妊娠绵羊早产和胎儿出生重降低,而这可能与IGF-2和主要代谢物水平变化有关。  相似文献

To evaluate the effects of pre- and post-conception undernutrition (UN) on fetal and placental development at mid-gestation, 28 Katahdin × Pelibuey multiparous ewes were blocked by weight and assigned to the following four dietary treatments (n = 7 each): ewes fed 100% (control) or 60% of their nutritional requirements 30 days before mating (UNPre), 50 days after mating (UNPost) or during both periods (UNB). Four twin-bearing ewes were selected per treatment at day 50 post-conception and then slaughtered at day 75 of gestation to analyze their fetuses. Control fetuses were heavier (P < 0.05) than UNPost and UNB fetuses in 14.6 and 9.4%, respectively. Organ weights as percentage of the fetal weight (except for liver) and morphometric measurements (except for abdominal girth) were similar between control and UN fetuses (UNPre, UNPost, and UNB). Placental mass was heavier (P < 0.05) in control ewes than UNB ewes, but not relative to ewes of other treatments. The number of placentomes per ewe and placental efficiency were unaffected by UN treatments. Compared to control, only UNB ewes exhibited variations (P < 0.05) in the proportion of placentomes, specifically for type A (+13.8%) and B (?12.6%). Placentomes of type A and B had lower weight, length, and width of placentas in UNPost and UNB ewes than placentas of control ewes (P < 0.05). Overall results indicate that fetal and placental development of ewes carrying twins is mainly altered when nutritional restriction occurs simultaneously before conception and during the first third of pregnancy.  相似文献

Pregnant ewes inoculated with cultured Neospora caninum tachyzoites in 1995, 1996, or 1995 and 1996 aborted or delivered weak or clinically normal lambs in 1996. Nine of 11 ewes in the study had previously produced infected lambs or fetuses after being experimentally infected in 1995. Fetuses and lambs produced in 1996 showed histologic lesions and zoites indicative of Neospora. Serologic responses and production of infected fetuses/lambs indicated systemic neosporosis in the ewes during gestation, although tachyzoites could not be cultured from maternal tissues. The repetitive infection of fetuses, and resulting clinical and histopathologic findings in the present study are similar to those reported in naturally infected cattle, adding to the already established similarities of neosporosis between sheep and cattle.  相似文献

One hundred ewes were utilized to determine the effects of interferon supplementation on the number of ewes pregnant and embryonic survival. Ewes were checked twice daily (0700 and 1600) for estrus using fertile rams. On d 12 through 16, ewes received twice-daily i.m. injections of either recombinant bovine interferon alpha I1 (2 mg IFN) or vehicle. Ewes remained penned with rams and were observed for subsequent estrous activity for at least 35 d after mating. To determine the number of fetuses and corpora lutea, all ewes were subjected to one surgery during mid-pregnancy (d 45 to 80). More (P less than .05) ewes were pregnant after treatment with IFN vs vehicle (45 of 49, 92% vs 37 of 49, 76%, respectively). The interestrous interval for ewes that were treated with IFN and did not conceive was longer (P less than .05) than for ewes given vehicle (26 +/- 1 vs 17 +/- 2 d, respectively). Embryonic survival (98.2 vs 87.9%; P less than .05), calculated as the number of fetuses present at the time of laparotomy and expressed as a percentage of the ovulation rate, and percentage of ewes with 100% fetal survival (96 vs 76%; P less than .05) were greater after treatment with IFN. It was concluded that supplementation of IFN increased both the number of ewes pregnant and embryonic survival.  相似文献

Two experiments (Spring and Fall) were conducted in ovariectomized ewes to determine changes in pituitary hormone secretion immediately after pituitary stalk-transection. Ewes underwent either pituitary stalk-transection (SS), sham-transection (SH) or administration of anesthesia only (AO). Stalk-transected, but not sham-operated or anesthetized ewes had polyuria and polydipsia for 7 to 14 days after surgery. Concentrations of luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and prolactin were measured in peripheral blood samples collected every 10 minutes for a six-hour period. Results were comparable for each season. During the six hours following surgery or removal from anesthesia, concentrations of LH declined in all ewes, but more slowly in SS ewes. No differences in patterns or mean concentrations of FSH were observed. Immediately after surgery, concentrations of prolactin were elevated, then declined in SH and SS ewes. The decrease was greater in SH than SS ewes. Data are consonant with the view that hypothalamic inhibition as well as LHRH stimulation regulate gonadotropin release by the pituitary.  相似文献

The present study aimed to investigate the fertility of ewes artificially inseminated with three different methods using a synthetic semen extender, AndroMed. The three methods of artificial insemination (AI) were cervical AI with fresh-diluted or frozen-diluted semen at observed estrus, and an intrauterine AI with frozen-thawed semen. A total of 80 ewes were treated with a controlled internal drug release (CIDR) containing 0.3 g progesterone per device for 12 days. In Experiment 1 (26 Suffolk ewes), superovulation was induced with 20 mg follicle-stimulating hormone and 250 IU equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) two days and one day before CIDR removal, respectively, during the non-breeding season. In Experiment 2 (54 Suffolk and Suffolk crossbred ewes), an intramuscular injection of 500 IU eCG was administered one day before CIDR removal to synchronize estrus and ovulation during the breeding season. In Experiment 1, fresh-diluted or frozen-thawed semen was deposited into the cervical orifice after estrus detection, and an intrauterine AI with frozen-thawed semen was performed by laparoscopy at a fixed-time basis without estrus detection. Embryos were recovered by uterine flushing 6 days after AI, and the rates of recovered, fertilized (cleaved) ova and embryos at the morula or blastocyst stage were compared among the three AI methods. In Experiment 2, the pregnancy rates after the three AI methods were compared. In Experiment 1, the rates of recovered ova were not significantly different among the three AI methods (52.5-56.7%). The rate of fertilized ova (81.0%) by laparoscopic AI with frozen-thawed semen was significantly higher compared with cervical AI of fresh-diluted (25.5%) or frozen-thawed (3.5%) semen, but the rate of embryos at the morula or blastocyst stage (17.6%) was significantly lower than that of the cervical AI with fresh-diluted semen (69.2%). The rates of ewes yielding fertilized ova were not significantly different among the three groups (44.4, 11.1 and 62.5% for cervical AI with fresh-diluted and frozen-thawed semen and intrauterine AI with frozen-thawed semen). In Experiment 2, the pregnancy rate of ewes intrauterinally inseminated with frozen-thawed semen (72.2%) was significantly higher than those of ewes inseminated cervically with fresh-diluted (5.5%) or frozen-thawed (0.0%) semen. The present results showed that acceptable fertilization and pregnancy rates could be obtained by an intrauterine AI with frozen-thawed semen using a synthetic semen extender (AndroMed), but not sufficient by the cervical AI with either fresh or frozen semen.  相似文献

Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) is released from hypothalamic neurons into the hypophyseal-portal blood system following enzymatic cleavage of the decapeptide from a large precursor (proGnRH) molecule. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the ability of GnRH-producing neurons to synthesize and/or process proGnRH differed during physiological states associated with a suppressed and enhanced release of GnRH in ewes. Tissues were collected from ovariectomized ewes (OVX, N=4), OVX-estradiol treated ewes (OVX-E, N=5), and ewes (n=7) slaughtered 5 d after parturition (PP). Following euthanasia and exsanguination, stalk-median eminence (SME), medial-basal hypothalamus (MBH) and preoptic areas (POA) were collected. Concentrations of GnRH and proGnRH were determined by radioimmunoassay using specific antisera. Concentrations of GnRH in the SME did not differ (P>.05) between OVX-E and OVX ewes, but both groups contained less (P<.05) GnRH than the SME from PP ewes (4.4 ± 0.7, 12.1 ± 3.8 vs 24.3 ± 5.1 fmol/mg tissue, respectively). Concentrations of proGnRH in SME mimicked those of GnRH and were less (P<.05) in OVX-E ewes than PP ewes, but were not different (P>.05) from those in OVX ewes (.34 ± .34 vs 3.76 ± 1.53 and 1.7 ± .78 fmol/mg, respectively). In the MBH, OVX-E ewes had greater (P<.05) concentrations of GnRH than PP ewes (0.76 ± 0.29 vs 0.24 ± 0.04 fmol/mg) and OVX ewes were intermediate (0.41 ± 0.13 fmol/mg). No differences (P>.05) in concentrations of GnRH in the POA were detected among groups. Concentrations of proGnRH in MBH and POA were not different (P>.05) among groups. In summary, proGnRH is present in the SME which contains nerve terminals of GnRH-producing cells. Although concentrations of proGnRH and GnRH in the SME and MBH were affected by physiological state, ratio's of the prohormone:mature decapeptide remained constant. Therefore, alterations in posttranslational processing of the prohormone leading to formation of the mature GnRH-decapeptide were not demonstrated.  相似文献

To test the hypothesis that placental lactogen (PL) is a Immoral regulator of fetal growth, six singleton sheep fetuses received a continuous intravenous fusion of 1.2 mg/d of purified ovine PL (oPL) for 14 d, beginning on Day 122 of gestation. The plasma concentration of oPL was approximately four-fold higher in infused fetuses than in six control fetuses that received a continuous infusion of saline. The circulating insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) concentration was also significantly elevated in PL-infused fetuses (43.1 ± 1.7 vs. 31.9 ± 4.l ng/ml; P < 0.05). Animals were slaughtered on Day 136, and the placenta and all major fetal tissues were dissected, weighed, and subsampled for chemical analysis. Fetal weight and crown-rump length were not significantly affected by treatment; however, the aggregate weight of the brain, liver, lungs, and heart tended to be larger (85.3 ± 2.1 vs. 79.9 ± 1.5 g/kg fetus; mean ± SE, P = 0.07) and the thyroid gland was smaller (0.18 ± 0.l vs. 0.26 ± 0.02 g/kg fetus; P < 0.05) in the PL-infused fetuses. The livers of the PL-infused fetuses had also accumulated additional glycogen (13.1 ± l.7 vs. 8.4 ± 0.7 g; P < 0.05). In late gestation, PL within the fetal compartment increases fetal plasma IGF-1 concentration and hepatic glycogen deposition and may affect the growth of several vital organs.  相似文献

Muscle damage attributable to selenium (Se)/vitamin E deficiencies is known to develop at birth or later in lambs. The purpose of this study was to determine whether and when muscle damage develops in utero. Thirty pregnant ewes maintained on Se-deficient forages from birth were allotted to 3 equal groups. Half of each group was given a single IM injection of 0.056 mg of Se/kg of body weight, 1 month before parturition. At 3 weeks before parturition, cesarean section-derived fetuses from Se-deficient ewes did not have evidence of muscle damage. At 2 weeks before parturition, fetuses from Se-deficient ewes had biochemical evidence of congenital nutritional myopathy, as evidenced by low blood Se concentration (P less than 0.05) and by increased plasma creatinine kinase (P less than 0.001) and lactate dehydrogenase (P less than 0.01) activities, compared with fetuses from Se-treated ewes. Thus, for optimal protection of fetuses and newborn lambs in Se-deficient areas, Se should be administered to ewes at least 1 month before parturition.  相似文献

Ewes bearing more than 1 fetus are more susceptible to pregnancy toxemia than those with a single fetus. Crossbreeding programs in Israel increased the occurrences of ewes bearing more than 2 fetuses; therefore, the aim was to assess the exacerbation in the metabolic status of ewes pregnant with several fetuses. Fifty ewes, genetically developed to achieve multiple-fetus pregnancies, were monitored, on average, from d 115 of pregnancy until lambing for plasma concentrations of several key metabolites and insulin. The numbers of fetuses were examined by ultrasonography at 35 d of pregnancy. Blood samples were collected weekly, and concentrations of glucose, β-hydroxybutyrate (BHBA), NEFA, triglycerides, cholesterol, total calcium, and insulin were determined. The average litter size was 2.75 (±1.1), and 1 (1F), 2 (2F), 3 (3F), and 4 or more (4F) fetuses were conceived, respectively, by 6 (12%), 17 (34%), 14 (28%), and 13 (26%) ewes. Total birth weights of lambs were 6.1, 9.5, 12.7, and 15.0 kg for 1F, 2F, 3F, and 4F, respectively (P < 0.001). Plasma glucose concentrations in 1F were greater than those in 3F and 4F (P < 0.05) and were similar among 2F, 3F, and 4F. Trends toward increasing plasma concentrations of BHBA and NEFA were observed as the number of fetuses increased and also as lambing approached. Plasma concentrations of BHBA and NEFA were, respectively, 3.7 (P < 0.002) and 2.1 (P < 0.001) times as great in 4F ewes as in 1F ewes. Trends toward decreased concentrations of triglycerides and cholesterol were observed as litter size increased. Insulin concentrations in blood decreased considerably as the numbers of fetuses increased and, on average, they were less by a factor of 5 in the 4F ewes than in the 1F ewes (P < 0.001). Moreover, insulin concentrations during the week before lambing were extremely low (e.g., 0.54 μIU/mL in the 4F ewes). Insulin concentrations were reduced in ewes bearing >3 fetuses, even 5 wk before lambing; this decline apparently began earlier than the last month of gestation. Therefore, it seems that insulin has a pivotal role in the etiology of pregnancy ketonemia in ewes carrying multiple fetuses. The present findings may suggest that the decline in insulin concentrations that apparently occurs in the earlier stages of pregnancy represents a homeorhetic control to spare glucose for the brains and fetoplacental units of the dams. The results clearly demonstrate the increased susceptibility to pregnancy toxemia of ewes carrying multiple fetuses. Appropriate nutritional strategies should be developed for ewes that conceive >3 fetuses, to meet the increased nutritional requirements of the fetoplacental unit.  相似文献

The biochemical properties of ovine placental lactogen (oPL) have been previously determined following purification, which has yielded various results. To clarify the properties of oPL prior to purification, oPL was examined in solubilized fetal cotyledonary tissue (d 100 of gestation) or conditioned culture medium by electrophoretic, immunoblotting and immunoprecipitation techniques. In cotyledonary tissue or conditioned culture medium, oPL has an apparent molecular weight (Mr) of 22,000 with an isoelectric point (pI) of 9.2. Incorporation of [3H]-glucosamine or [3H]-mannose into immunoreactive oPL could not be detected, nor did the presence of tunicamycin in explant culture medium alter the apparent Mr of oPL. In vitro translation of d 100 fetal cotyledonary mRNA, followed by immunoprecipitation, provided evidence that pre-oPL has an apparent Mr of 25,000. The size of oPL mRNA was determined to be approximately 1,350 base pairs by Northern hybridization procedures using an oligonucleotide probe which was generated from oPL amino acid sequence data. These experiments suggest that the only intracellular processing oPL undergoes is removal of a amino-terminal signal sequence. We conclude that oPL is synthesized and secreted as a single nonglycosylated-basic protein, at a time during gestation when circulating oPL is elevated.  相似文献

[目的] 研究冷冻精液输精深度和时间对蒙古羊受胎率的影响。[方法] 选取体况健康、繁殖机能正常的蒙古羊母羊作为试验动物,采用孕酮海绵栓对受体母羊进行同期发情处理。应用常规人工输精法(n=135)、过子宫颈输精法[过子宫颈第一皱褶(1~2 cm)输精(n=120),过子宫颈第二到第三皱褶(3~4 cm)输精(n=120)]、腹腔镜辅助子宫内输精法(n=128)对发情后的母羊进行冷冻精液人工授精。接受常规人工输精法和过子宫颈输精法处理的受体母羊在发情后约14 h和22 h各输精1次,接受腹腔镜辅助子宫内输精法处理的受体母羊在发情后30~36 h输精1次。输精后40 d用B超仪检测母羊妊娠情况,计算并比较接受不同输精方法处理母羊的受胎率。[结果] 腹腔镜辅助子宫内输精法的受体母羊受胎率平均值最高,为60.2%;其次为过子宫颈第二到第三皱褶(3~4 cm)输精,受胎率平均值为58.3%;过子宫颈第一皱褶(1~2 cm)输精和常规输精法的受体母羊受胎率平均值分别为37.5%和36.3%。统计学分析表明,腹腔镜辅助子宫内输精法和过子宫颈第二到第三皱褶(3~4 cm)输精的受体母羊受胎率平均值显著(P<0.05)高于常规输精法和过子宫颈第一皱褶(1~2 cm)输精。[结论] 蒙古羊母羊发情后30~36 h采用腹腔镜辅助子宫内输精法完全穿刺子宫颈输精1次,可获得比常规输精法更高的受胎率;采用过子宫颈输精法在母羊发情后约14 h和22 h各输精1次,当授精深度接近4 cm时可达到与腹腔镜辅助子宫内输精法接近的受胎率。  相似文献

Transrectal and transcutaneous ultrasonography was performed on 187 pregnant Merino ewes to measure the growth of fetal parameters (fetometry) such as the diameters of the eye, braincase and trunk, the width of one rib with its intercostal space and the crown-rump-length (CRL). In the ewes, cross and longitudinal diameters of the intrauterine lumen around the embryo and fetus were determined. Trunk diameter and crown-rump-length of embryos and fetuses were sonographically determined from Day 26 and size of eyes, braincase and ribs were measured from Day 52 to 66 of gestation. Embryonic resp. fetal parameters and uterine diameters showed almost linear growth rate. Relationship between the measured parameters and days of pregnancy is described by regressions and correlation coefficients. Correlation coefficient between gestational stage and the diameter of the trunk was very narrow (r = 0.98) and between gestational stage and the crown-rump-length resp. eye diameter equalled 89% (r = 0.89). These fetal parameters are appropriate to assess gestational age and growth of ovine fetuses. It can be concluded that sonographic fetometry in the ovine can be valuable for the evaluation of fetal development, the estimation of gestational age and the prediction of parturition dates.  相似文献

SMEDI and hog cholera viruses were shown to have marked effects upon the survival of the embryo (from conception to 30 days of gestation), the fetus (from 30 days of gestation until birth), and the neonatal pig (from birth until five days after birth). Embryonic infection was characterized by death and absorption of the embryo and in some instances the return to estrus after an irregular estrous cycle. Embryonic infection also may have been responsible for the development of some abnormal pigs. Fetal infection caused death with mummification of one or more fetuses and occasionally all fetuses in the uterus. Infection established in early gestation produced effects on the fetus which apparently persisted until after birth and varied from a persistent viremia (as in hog cholera infection) to an undefined lack of resistance in the newborn (as in SMEDI virus infection). Hog cholera vaccinal virus was the more virulent of the two virus types and reacted somewhat like rubella virus, in that infection apparently could be established in the fetus even in middle trimester of pregnancy, and possibly later. SMEDI viruses, in contrast, were less virulent and were most pathogenic when the dam was infected during the first 30 days of pregnancy. Immunity against either virus could be established in the nonpregnant gilt and was most effective in preventing intrauterine infections with that virus. However, with as many as 10 enteroviruses (five are known to cause intrauterine infection) it was believed that maintaining a closed breeding herd and introducing new stock into contact with the breeding herd at least 30 days before breeding time might be a safer means of control.  相似文献
