The main source for Campylobacter spp. transmission from the environment to broiler chickens is still unclear. One implicated reservoir for the organism has been untreated broiler drinking water. This study was conducted with broilers first using experimental conditions (isolation units) and second under commercial conditions. We compared the rate of intestinal colonization in chickens provided 2 to 5 parts per million (ppm) chlorinated drinking water in relation to the frequency of colonization in chickens given unsupplemented drinking water. No significant difference (P > 0.05) was detected in isolation frequency or level of Campylobacter spp. colonization in birds provided chlorinated drinking water and control birds provided water without supplemental chlorine. In the isolation unit experiments, 86.3% (69/80) of the control and 85.0% (68/80) of the treated birds were colonized at levels corresponding to an average of 10(5.2) and 10(5.1) log colony-forming units (cfu) Campylobacter spp./g of cecal contents, respectively. Additionally, two sets of paired 20,000 bird broiler houses, with and without chlorination (2-5 ppm chlorine), were monitored in a commercial field trial. Effectiveness of chlorination was judged by prevalence of Campylobacter spp. in fecal droppings (960 samples) taken from the flocks in treated and control houses. Birds from the control houses were 35.5% (175/493) Campylobacter spp. positive, while 45.8% (214/467) of the samples from the houses having chlorinated drinking water yielded the organism. Chlorination of flock drinking water at the levels tested in this study was not effective in decreasing colonization by Campylobacter spp. under commercial production practices presently used in the United States.  相似文献

Campylobacter spp. are present in organs and tissues of broiler chickens but the dissemination route is unclear. The aim of the current study was to determine Campylobacter prevalence within circulating blood of commercial broilers. Broilers were acquired from 19 flocks originating from three commercial poultry processing companies. Using aseptic blood collection techniques, 5 ml of circulating blood was collected from each bird and the sample analyzed for Campylobacter. The Campylobacter colonization status of each bird was determined by aseptically sampling and analyzing the ceca. Campylobacter was recovered from 58% (11/19) of flocks sampled. From the 248 total birds sampled, 12% and 46% of the birds had Campylobacter in the blood and ceca, respectively. This study documents Campylobacter prevalence in the circulating blood of commercially raised broilers. Campylobacter presence in the circulatory system may indicate the path used by the organism for rapid dissemination to organs and tissues. From a processing viewpoint, Campylobacter presence in circulating blood of market-age broilers may increase the likelihood of cross-contamination between birds during slaughter.  相似文献

The present study was conducted to estimate the prevalence of and to identify the risk factors for Campylobacter colonization in broiler flocks in Japan. Campylobacter colonization status in flock was evaluated by culturing pooled caecal excrement from 124 broiler flocks. Potential exposure to risk factors was evaluated with a questionnaire for the broiler producers. Odds ratios (ORs) were calculated using a multivariable logistic regression analysis. The prevalence of Campylobacter-positive flocks was 43.5% (upper and lower limits of 95% confidence interval (CI(95%) ): 34.8, 52.3). Multivariable logistic regression model identified two variables as risk factors for Campylobacter colonization. The ORs of Campylobacter colonization were higher in flocks in western Japan (OR=2.68; CI(95%) : 1.04, 6.91) than in eastern Japan, and in flocks supplied with undisinfected drinking water (OR=7.41; CI(95%) : 3.11, 17.66) than in those supplied with disinfected drinking water. These findings indicate that water may play an important role in Campylobacter colonization in broiler flocks in Japan and the use of disinfected water may reduce the risk of Campylobacter colonization.  相似文献

In this study the effect of acidification of the drinking water of broiler chickens on both direct and indirect transmission of Campylobacter was evaluated. In the direct transmission experiment both susceptible and inoculated animals were housed together. In the indirect transmission experiment the susceptible animals were spatially separated from the inoculated animals and no direct animal to animal contact was possible. The transmission parameter β was estimated for the groups supplied with acidified drinking water and for the control groups. The results showed that acidification of the drinking water had no effect on direct transmission (β=3.7 day(-1) for both control and treatment). Indirect transmission however was influenced by acidification of the drinking water. A significant decrease in transmission was observed (p<0.05), with control vs. treatment point estimates being β=0.075 day(-1) vs. β=0.011 day(-1). Apart from providing quantitative estimations of both direct and indirect transmission of Campylobacter in broilers, this study also demonstrates the use of an experimental setup for indirect transmission of Campylobacter between broilers to assess the efficacy of candidate measures to reduce transmission.  相似文献

Chicken consumption is a newly identified risk factor in Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis (SE) infection in humans. SE is widely distributed in commercial chicken flocks and high levels of cecal carriage and shedding may lead to broiler meat contamination. In the present study, the preventive and eliminative effect of nonimmunized freeze-dried egg yolk powder (EYP) on SE in broilers was investigated. In the prevention trial, reduced SE counts were observed in liver (P < or = 0.05), cecal contents, and fecal shedding (P < or = 0.05) in birds fed 10% or 5% EYP. Histological examination of cecal wall and cecal tonsils at 23 days postinfection indicated a lesser degree of intestinal pathology. In the elimination trial, a significantly lower (P < or = 0.05) number of SE reached the liver and spleen, and a reduction in cecal carriage and fecal shedding was observed. The histological changes in the cecal mucosa and cecal tonsils reflected an apparent inflammation and mucosal repair and also suggested that the infection had not completely resolved, confirming SE bacterial isolations in the cecal tissue. The present study indicates that supplementing the diets of broilers with 5% nonimmunized EYP, at the early stages of the growing period, reduces preharvest Salmonella load with a minimal degree of intestinal pathology.  相似文献

The effect of carbohydrates in the drinking water of broiler chickens on Salmonella typhimurium colonization was evaluated. Results indicate that mannose and lactose (2.5%) significantly (P less than 0.05) reduced intestinal colonization of S. typhimurium by at least one-half, as compared with dextrose, maltose, and sucrose. Lactose and mannose also significantly reduced (P less than 0.01) the mean log10 number of S. typhimurium in the cecal contents. Although mannose was the most effective sugar at blocking colonization, lactose may be more practical because it is effective and costs much less than mannose. Provision of carbohydrates in the drinking water had no significant effect on weight gain.  相似文献

A surveillance study for thermophilic Campylobacter spp. in broiler flocks was carried out for the year 1998 in Denmark. The study included examinations of 4286 broiler flocks comprising samples from 57,000 birds. Overall, a flock prevalence of 46.0% was recorded. The species distribution was Campylobacter jejuni 86%, Campylobacter coli 11%, Campylobacter lari 1%, other not further diagnosed species 2%. The prevalence was significantly higher in the period from June to October (3.2 < odds ratio [OR] <1.8, P < 0.0002) and was significantly associated with abattoir (OR < 2.8, P < 0.0001) and the length of the period the broiler houses were left empty between flocks (download period; 6 days or more) (OR = 1.6, P < 0.0198). No association between Campylobacter colonization and the age at slaughter was found. Separating the flocks into batches for slaughter elevated the flock prevalence from 0.41 after the first batch had been slaughtered to 0.46 after all batches had been slaughtered.  相似文献

The purpose of the present cross-sectional study was to evaluate the health status of organic broiler chickens and the contamination rate with Salmonella and Campylobacter in organic broiler production in Belgium. The broilers were screened for antibodies against routinely monitored poultry diseases at 1 day old and at slaughter. Fecal examination for the presence of worm eggs was done at slaughter. Bacteriological examination for the detection of Salmonella and Campylobacter was performed at day 1, week 2, week 4, week 7, week 10, and slaughter. Conventional broilers of the same poultry integration and reared in the same geographic area were also screened and served as reference. Serologic data indicated lower antibody titers against infectious bronchitis and Newcastle disease in organic flocks. No significant differences could be found in prevalence of Salmonella between organic and conventional broilers at slaughter. In contrast, Campylobacter infections at slaughter were significantly higher in organic flocks. Organic flocks most probably become infected with Campylobacter between week 7 and week 10. Worm eggs were found in neither the organic flocks nor the conventional flocks. In conclusion, there are indications that the respiratory health status is better in organic broilers but that organic flocks are more often infected with Campylobacter than are conventional flocks.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to assess the diversity of thermotolerant Campylobacter spp. isolated from turkey flocks at six rearing farms 1-2 weeks prior to slaughter (360 faecal swab samples) and from 11 different stages at the slaughterhouse (636 caecal, environmental, neck skin and meat samples). A total of 121 Campylobacter isolates were identified to species level using a multiplex PCR assay and were typed by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and flaA-short variable region (SVR) sequencing. All Campylobacter isolates were identified as Campylobacter jejuni. PFGE analysis with KpnI restriction enzyme resulted in 11 PFGE types (I-XI) and flaA SVR typing yielded in nine flaA-SVR alleles. The Campylobacter-positive turkey flocks A, C and E were colonized by a limited number of Campylobacter clones at the farm and slaughter. The present study confirms the traceability of flock-specific strains (PFGE types I, V and IX; flaA types 21, 36 and 161) from the farm along the entire processing line to meat cuts. It seems that stress factors such as high temperature of the defeathering water (54-56 °C), drying of the carcass skin during air chilling (24 h at 2 °C), and oxygen in the air could not eliminate Campylobacter completely. Campylobacter-negative flocks became contaminated during processing by the same subtypes of Campylobacter introduced into the slaughter house by preceeding positive flocks even if they were slaughtered on subsequent days. Proper and efficient cleaning and disinfection of slaughter and processing premises are needed to avoid cross-contamination, especially in countries with a low prevalence of Campylobacter spp. The majority of flaA SVR alleles displayed a distinct association with a specific PFGE type. However, a linear relationship for all strains among both typing methods could not be established. To specify genetic relatedness of strains, a combination of different genotyping methods, is needed.  相似文献

The combined effect of treatments with dietary lactose plus anaerobic organisms on cecal colonization of broiler chicks by Salmonella typhimurium was evaluated. Chickens treated with a combination of anaerobic organisms and 7% dietary lactose were resistant to cecal colonization by S. typhimurium. The number of recoverable S. typhimurium cells per gram of cecal contents taken on days 10 and 15 after infection was significantly reduced. Treatment with anaerobes without the addition of lactose did not effectively control cecal colonization. Intracloacal inoculations with bacterial concentrations that varied by 10,000-fold resulted in roughly similar levels of colonization. The treatments resulted in reduced cecal pH and elevated levels of undissociated volatile fatty acids. Statistically significant correlations (P less than 0.01) were observed between the S. typhimurium concentrations in cecal material and the concentrations of undissociated fatty acids (r = -0.79, and between the bacterial counts and pH (r = 0.72).  相似文献

Phage therapy reduces Campylobacter jejuni colonization in broilers   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The effect of phage therapy in the control of Campylobacter jejuni colonization in young broilers, either as a preventive or a therapeutic measure, was tested. A prevention group was infected with C. jejuni at day 4 of a 10-day phage treatment. A therapeutic group was phage treated for 6 days, starting 5 days after C. jejuni colonization of the broilers had been established. Treatment was monitored by enumerating Campylobacter colony forming units (CFU) and phage plaque forming units (PFU) from caecal content. Counts were compared with control birds not receiving phage therapy. A clear 3 log decline in C. jejuni counts was initially observed in the therapeutic group, however, after 5 days bacterial counts stabilized at a level 1 log lower than that of the control group. Colonization of C. jejuni in the prevention group was delayed by the treatment and after an initial 2 log reduction, colonization stabilized within a week at levels comparable to the therapeutic group. The CFU and PFU counts displayed opposing highs and lows over time, indicative of alternating shifts in amplification of bacteria and phages. There were no adverse health effects from the phage treatment. Two different phages were combined as therapeutic treatment of Campylobacter positive chickens challenged at the age approaching broiler harvest. This again resulted in a significant decrease in Campylobacter colonization. We conclude that phage treatment is a promising alternative for reducing C. jejuni colonization in broilers.  相似文献

In a commercial broiler flock during rearing multiple genotypes of Campylobacter jejuni may be present as well as in gastrointestinal tracts of individual birds. The aim of this study was to optimize and apply a denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis assay of the flagellin gene (fla-DGGE) for analysis of C. jejuni and Campylobacter coli in cecal samples of broilers without prior cultivation. One C. coli and 21 C. jejuni strains isolated from broiler flocks, of which 14 typed as unique by restriction fragment length polymorphism of flaA and two undefined strains, were clustered into 9 groups when applying fla-DGGE. Spiking of cecal samples revealed that fla-DGGE is able to detect at least 4.55-5.96logCFUCampylobacter/mlcecal material. The presence of 3 strains spiked in cecal material was demonstrated by fla-DGGE as the corresponding bands were visible on the DGGE gel. Naturally contaminated cecal samples were shown to contain different types of C. jejuni and C. coli. Fla-DGGE has some potential as a cultivation-independent fast primary subtyping method for C. jejuni and C. coli in cecal samples of broilers.  相似文献

The resistance to cecal colonization by Campylobacter jejuni was assessed by challenging three crossbred stocks of commercially available broiler chickens. These three stocks, designated A, B, and C, were related as follows: Offspring from four pedigreed grandparent flocks were used as progenitors. Stock B was derived by cross-breeding grandparent 1 with grandparent 3. Stocks A and C were crossbreeds from grandparents 1 and 2 and grandparents 3 and 4, respectively. Campylobacter jejuni were gavaged into 48-hour-old chicks, using the same levels of challenge dose for each of the different chicken stocks. Six days post-challenge, the birds were sacrificed, and cecal contents were plated onto Campylobacter-selective media. Results from two replicate trials with three isolates of C. jejuni indicated that chicken stock A was colonized in only two of 60 ceca, stock B in six of 60, and stock C in 19 of 60 chicken ceca. Statistical analysis of these data indicate that resistance to cecal colonization by C. jejuni was significantly (P less than 0.05) influenced through chicken host lineage.  相似文献

The effect of acidified sodium chlorite (ASC), produced by the combination of sodium chlorite (SC) with citric acid (CA) or sodium acid sulfate (SAS), on Salmonella and Campylobacter reduction in market age broilers was investigated. In the first experiment, the tolerance to increasing concentrations of SC (0, 100, 300, 600, 1,200, 3,000, and 6,000 ppm) and CA (0, 0.003, 0.01, 0.02, 0.04, 0.08, 0.18, and 0.40%) in the drinking water was assessed. In the second experiment, broilers were fasted for 2 h and orally gavaged with 105 cfu of Salmonella enterica serotype Typhimurium 1 h before the initiation of drinking water treatments involving 5 concentrations of SC (0, 150, 300, 600, and 1,200 ppm), acidified to pH of 2.6, either with CA or SAS. In the third experiment, 8-d-old chicks were orally challenged with 105 cfu of Salmonella and 105 cfu of Campylobacter jejuni. On d 29, birds were provided 3 concentrations of SC (0, 300, and 600 ppm) acidified to pH 2.6 ± 0.1 with only water, CA, or SAS for 5 d. In experiment 2 and 3, the challenge organisms were enumerated in the upper, middle, and lower segments of the digestive tract. Water consumption was depressed significantly at levels of SC above 600 ppm and levels of CA above 0.18%. In experiment 2, SC levels above 600 ppm negatively affected water consumption regardless of the acid used. A level of 600 ppm of ASC was adequate to reduce the transient crop Salmonella, whereas 1,200 ppm was required for a significant reduction in the lower digestive tract. In experiment 3, six hundred parts per million of ASC reduced Salmonella only in the upper digestive tract. Campylobacter counts were not affected by SC treatments in experiment 3 (P > 0.05). Preslaughter use of acidified SC in the drinking water may be an effective way to reduce Salmonella in the crop, including those that may be picked up through litter consumption and caprophagy.  相似文献

This study was conducted to determine weights of body (BW), carcass (CW), gastrointestinal tract (GTW), meat quality and some blood metabolite responses to corn starch, saccharose or glucose administration in the drinking water during pre‐slaughter feed withdrawal (FW) in broilers. On day 42 of age, 200 broilers (Ross 308) were allocated randomly to five treatments with four replicates. During a 10‐h FW, control broilers (C) were provided with non‐treated water and the standard finisher diet ad libitum, whereas fasted broilers provided with non‐treated (NFW) or treated water, 3 g glucose (G), saccharose (S) or corn starch (CS)/L. Eight birds (four males and four females) per treatment were slaughtered. Birds receiving non‐treated or treated water had lower BW and higher carcass yield than the full‐fed broilers. The full‐fed broilers had higher absolute and relative GTW than the fasted birds. Broilers consumed more readily treated water compared with non‐treated water. While the a* value of breast meat from CS birds was higher than that from NFW, the b* value of that was higher than S and C birds. The c* values of breast meat from S birds were lower compared with that from the CS treatment. The thigh meat from NFW broilers had higher h* value than that from C and G broilers. The thigh meats of C and CS broilers had higher c* value than that of G birds. The full‐fed broilers had higher plasma triglyceride concentration than NFW, S and G birds. The full‐fed broilers had higher plasma uric acid and uric acid nitrogen concentrations than S birds. These results show that carbohydrate administration in the drinking water cannot be a good alternative for the FW period before slaughter due to the fact that the carbohydrates do not reduce BW losses and do not lead to increases in meat quality.  相似文献

Two experiments were conducted to determine the effects of vitamin C supplementation 48 h before slaughter on plasma ascorbic acid and oxalate concentrations and its effect on pork quality. In Exp. 1, 16 pigs (87.8+/-2.13 kg BW) were blocked by sex and weight and assigned randomly within block to one of three vitamin C treatments: 1) control; 2) 1,000 mg/L; or 3) 2,000 mg/L supplemented in the drinking water for a 48-h period. This was then followed by an additional 48-h period without supplemental vitamin C. Vitamin C increased plasma ascorbic acid concentrations (11.6, 19.5, and 23.4 microg/mL for 0, 1,000, and 2,000 mg/L of vitamin C; P < 0.05) within 6 h of supplementation. Plasma ascorbic acid concentrations from treated pigs decreased and did not differ from those of control pigs (13.7, 18.2, and 18.6 microg/mL for 0, 1,000, and 2,000 mg/L of vitamin C; P = 0.30) within 2 h of ending supplementation. No differences in plasma ascorbic acid concentrations were found between the two levels of supplementation. Vitamin C did not affect plasma oxalate or cortisol; however, cortisol tended to increase quadratically (P = 0.077) with vitamin C after 96 h. In Exp. 2, 30 pigs (107.5+/-0.54 kg BW) were blocked by sex and weight and assigned randomly within block to one of three vitamin C treatments: 1) control; 2) 500 mg/L; or 3) 1,000 mg/L supplemented in the drinking water 48 h before slaughter. Pigs were slaughtered 4 to 5 h after vitamin C supplementation ended, and loin samples were collected for meat quality measurements. At the time of slaughter, no differences in plasma ascorbic acid or cortisol were observed, but oxalate tended (P = 0.074) to increase quadratically with increasing vitamin C. Muscle ascorbic acid at slaughter and lactic acid in muscle at 0 and 1.5 h after slaughter were not different; however, lactic acid increased (P = 0.048) quadratically at 24 h after slaughter. Vitamin C did not affect initial or ultimate pH. Initial fluid loss (P = 0.041), and fluid loss on d 4 (P = 0.014) and 8 (P = 0.076) of simulated retail display; L* on d 0 (P = 0.038), 4 (P = 0.010), and 8 (P = 0.051); a* on d 0 (P = 0.021); and b* on d 0 (P = 0.006), 4 (P = 0.035), and 8 (P = 0.017) were negatively affected in a quadratic manner when vitamin C was supplemented. Vitamin C tended (P = 0.086) to increase oxidation in chops on d 0, but not d 4 or 8. Results indicate that on-farm supplementation of vitamin C was generally not effective in improving pork quality, which may be related to timing relative to slaughter.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to determine the phenotypic and genotypic diversity of multiple Campylobacter isolates (n = 3 per sample) present within individual (heterogeneity) pig faecal and carcass samples at farm and slaughter, respectively. We isolated 1459 Campylobacter coli (1110 on farm and 349 from slaughter) from 908 pigs and 757 carcasses and characterized them for their antimicrobial susceptibility profile to a panel of six antimicrobials using the agar dilution method. Overall, we detected a significantly higher Campylobacter prevalence at the farm (54.7%) than at slaughter (19%) level (P < 0.05). C. coli isolates were resistant most commonly to tetracycline (66.2%) and erythromycin (53.6%) while fluoroquinolone resistance was detected in isolates (n = 17) only from the farm level. Phenotypic diversity of C. coli isolates at the 4-fold minimum inhibitory concentration levels within the same sample was detected in 38.6% (n = 192) pigs and 40.2% (n = 58) carcass swabs with no significant difference between the two sources (P = 0.72). Phenotypic heterogeneity based on the antimicrobial resistance patterns was observed in 32.5% (n = 162) of the farm samples and in 30.5% (n = 44) carcass swabs at slaughter (P = 0.64). A subset of 40 isolates representing ten pigs and eight carcass samples (originating from separate pigs) were further genotyped by multi locus sequence typing. The observation of phenotypic diversity was replicated at the genotypic level, as it was highlighted by the 22 sequence types which represented the 40 isolates. In conclusion, we detected multiple C. coli subtypes from individual pig or carcass samples indicating unprecedented level of heterogeneity. Our study clearly signifies the importance of testing multiple colonies to make appropriate and valid conclusions in epidemiological-based studies.  相似文献

Colonization of the ceca and organ invasion by different isolates of Campylobacter jejuni were investigated in day-of-hatch leghorn chicks. This model of Campylobacter colonization of the ceca demonstrates that 1) day-of-hatch birds do not naturally contain cecal Campylobacter, 2) ceca can be colonized with C. jejuni by oral gavage and not by cloacal inoculation; 3) C. jejuni can be recovered from the ceca up until at least 7 days postinoculation, 4) cecal colonization occurs when as little as 10(2) colony-forming units is orally inoculated into chicks, and 5) different C. jejuni isolates vary both in their ability to colonize the ceca and in their ability to invade the liver. These studies demonstrate that we have a working animal model for Campylobacter colonization for day-of-hatch chicks. This animal model is being used to examine intervention strategies such as vaccines by which Campylobacter can be reduced or removed from the food animal.  相似文献

Two week old broilers (n = 61) with a monoinfection with Campylobacter jejuni (0.5 ml of suspension containing 10(5) CFU/ml per os) showed reduced increase in weight during week 3 after infection compared to the control group. An other group of chickens (n = 31) was additionally infected with a suspension of Escherichia (E.) coli O78:K80 via drinking water from day 4 to 6 after the primary infection. This mixed infection provoked clinical signs of a disease and reduced increase in weight during the first two weeks of the experiment. Seven broilers of this group showed a fibrinous pericarditis and/or perihepatitis. Four of these chickens died. It can be concluded from the experiment that an infection with Campylobacter causes reduced weight gain and supports a systemic infection with E. coli.  相似文献

Three experiments utilizing broilers were conducted in different environments to evaluate the effects of Innavax (INX; spray-dried serum) administered in drinking water on broiler performance. In Exp. 1 (1 to 42 d), 252 Ross x Cobb male broilers were assigned randomly to one of six treatments consisting of tap water mixed with 0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.0, or 1.25% (wt/wt) INX. Broilers (six broilers per pen; seven pens per treatment) were housed in Petersime battery cages (raised wire flooring) in temperature-controlled rooms. Average daily gain, and feed and water intake (as-fed) were not affected (P > 0.05) by experimental treatments. Feed efficiency tended to improve linearly (P = 0.076) from d 0 to 7 with increasing levels of INX, but was unaffected (P > 0.05) during the remaining periods. In Exp. 2 and 3, 800 Ross x Ross 308 male broilers (400 broilers in each trial; 10 broilers per pen; 10 pens per treatment) in two 21-d experiments were assigned randomly to one of four treatments consisting of tap water mixed with 0, 0.45, 0.90, or 1.35% (wt/wt) INX. Broilers were housed in floor pens containing clean (Exp. 2) or used (Exp. 3) litter. In Exp. 2, intake, ADG, and feed efficiency were linearly improved (P < 0.05) during the first week with increasing levels of INX. During the second week (d 8 to 14), ADG, water intake, and feed efficiency were linearly improved (P < 0.05) with increasing levels of INX. In the third week (d 15 to 21), ADG and feed and water intake were not affected (P > 0.10) by level of INX. Overall (d 0 to 21), ADG, intake, and feed efficiency were linearly improved (P < 0.05) with INX. In Exp. 3, ADG, water intake, and feed efficiency were linearly improved (P < 0.05) during each period. Feed intake was not affected (P > 0.05) by experimental treatment during d 0 to 7, but was linearly increased (P < 0.05) from d 8 to 14 and 15 to 21. The greatest growth response of broilers to INX was observed when broilers were housed in floor pens with used litter, followed by floor pens with clean litter and battery pens. Further research on the relationship between the response to INX and housing conditions seems warranted.  相似文献
