Loquat is a subtropical fruit tree that presents an annual cycle reverse to that of the well-known temperate fruit crops. Loquat rests during summer, blooms in autumn, develops its fruit through winter and ripens them in early spring. Its unusual phenology allows growers to obtain high prices for its fruits, especially for early harvests. Although loquat is harvested based on skin colour, a minimum soluble solid content (TSS) of 10° Brix is often required for commercialization. However, we have noticed that the relationship between skin colour and eating quality seems to change along the season leading costumers to complain for the high acidity of the earliest fruits. In order to establish a reliable maturity index, we have evaluated the changes in different fruit maturation parameters along the harvest period in four consecutive seasons for ‘Algerie’ loquat. The results show that in samples collected with similar skin colour, TSS and, especially, fruit titratable acidity (TA) tend to decline as harvest season progresses. This makes fruit skin colour on its own not suitable as a harvest index to assure an adequate fruit quality under all circumstances. We propose instead to monitor continuously TSS and TSS/TA ratio along the season in order to fulfill consumer's expectations.  相似文献

Persia is one of the main origin centers of pomegranate; hence, a diverse germplasm has evolved in the area over the past centuries. This study was conducted to evaluate the physico-chemical properties of fruits of ten Persian pomegranate cultivars. The plants used for this experiment had been collected from different parts of Iran and were established in a repository. Wide variations in the main properties of the ripe fruits of the cultivars were observed. The size, weight, skin thickness and weight, and juice content of the fruits were within the range of 55.14–71.76 mm, 98.55–199.40 g, 1.07–3.93 mm, 28.96–66.95 g, and 2.00–89.33 ml, respectively. Seed weight, Aril numbers, fresh and dry weight of 100 arils were 33.80–72.90 g, 170.70–570.30, 23.16–42.82 g, and 17.22–33.87%, respectively. The levels of total anthocyanin, total soluble solids (TSS), titrable acidity (TA), ascorbic acid, total phenolics, electrical conductivity, and TSS/TA ratio were ranged between 5.91–180.70 mg/100 g, 9.35–13.93 °Brix, 0.16–2.28%, 7.15–1061 mg/100 ml, 3578–5108 mg/100 g, 2.51–4.93 dS/m, and 4.09–80.34, respectively. The results emphasized on the role of plant genotype on fruit taste parameters, bioactive compounds, and yield. The variations in the fruits indicated differences in nutritive quality, which may satisfy diverse consumer acceptance in different areas. Moreover, it provides great opportunities for improving crop yield and quality.  相似文献

以"国庆一号"温州蜜柑为试材,在5%果实开始转色时,以清水和100、200、400 mg/L的乙烯利进行叶面喷雾试验,以及用清水和500、1 000、2 000、4 000 mg/L的乙烯利进行涂果试验,观测了果实的着色指数、果皮厚度、单果重、可食率以及可溶性固形物、总酸、固酸比.试验结果表明:不同浓度的乙烯利叶面喷雾和涂果处理均能不同程度的促进果实着色、提早果实成熟,降低果实的总酸、提高可溶性固形物含量和固酸比,增进果实的品质.叶面喷雾以200 mg/L最好.涂果以2 000 mg/L效果最好.  相似文献

Specific components of cranberry fruit are being associated with human health attributes, such as maintenance of urinary tract health and antioxidant status. Some of the chemical properties and antioxidant capacity of cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon Ait. cv. Pilgrim) fruits were investigated at light green, blush, light red and dark red maturation stages. Fruit total phenolics, total monomeric anthocyanins, soluble solids, titratable acidity and individual organic acids were examined. Antioxidant capacity of fruits were determined by both the ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) and trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC) assays. The fruit color was measured using a portable chromameter. A converse relationship was found between total phenolics and anthocyanin as fruits mature. Total phenolic concentration was declined from 7990 to 4745 mg GAE/kg fw, while total monomeric anthocyanin content was increased from 0.8 to 111.0 mg/kg fw from green to dark red stage. Brix was increased from 6 to 9.3% as well. The main organic acid was citric acid determined by the HPLC method. The antioxidant capacity of cranberries decreased to light red stage; when a fruit accumulates more anthocyanin the activity increased again in both FRAP and TEAC methods. Averaged antioxidant capacity measured was 12.61 and 17.48 mmol TE/kg fw by FRAP and TEAC methods.  相似文献

Abstract

The objective of this work was to establish physical and chemical characterizations of dovyalis hybrid fruits (Dovyalis abyssinica and D. hebecarpa). Samples of 25 fruits were characterized by evaluation of length and width, weight, percentage and number of seeds per fruit, peel percentage, pulp percentage, total soluble solids (TSS), titratable acidity (TA), vitamin C and TSS/TA ratio. Dovyalis fruit has good physical quality for market with an average of 75% pulp. Vitamin C content averaged 120.3 mg/100 g of fresh fruit, characterizing dovyalis as a good source of vitamin C.  相似文献

以石硖龙眼为试材,通过花穗短截及疏除花穗等不同处理,对龙眼树叶营养及果实品质的影响进行对比试验。结果表明,花穗短截+疏除花穗处理使石硖龙眼树体的氮、磷、钾元素的含量保持相对较高的水平,明显提高龙眼果实可溶性固形物含量、可溶性糖含量及还原糖含量,改善果实品质,优于其他处理。  相似文献

为研究京白梨生产中花粉直感与所出现的品质退化现象的关系,试验选用11个梨品种为授粉品种,以生长势健壮、结果盛期的京白梨为母本进行人工授粉,测定了不同授粉组合的坐果率、成熟种子数、果实外在品质及内在品质等几个主要指标。结果表明:京白梨果实在坐果率、成熟种子数、单果重、可滴定酸、可溶性固形物等方面表现明显的花粉直感现象,而在果形指数、可食用部分表现不明显。成熟种子数与可滴定酸显著相关,表明花粉可通过种子对果实品质产生一定影响。京白梨最适宜的授粉品种是白梨系统的鸭梨、金水2号、中梨2号和七月酥。  相似文献

Definitions: Crown = the short stem and leaves growing from the apex of the fruit. Slip = leafy branch, attached below the fruit, developed from axillary bud on the peduncle. Happa = branch arising from axillary bud at the point of junction of peduncle and stem.Large-slip plants of ‘Sugarloaf’ pineapple (Ananas comosus) (L.) Merr.) were more vigorous than small-slip plants initially; however, plants from smaller slips caught up in size within a year after planting. Large-slip and medium-slip plants produced more slips and happas than small-slip plants. Smaller slips produced heavier and larger crowns, delayed both flowering and fruit maturity, reduced fruit size and yield, and recorded a higher incidence of sunburn. Slip size did not influence sucker development, peduncle size, and % TSS, % acidity and TSS/acidity ratio of the fruit.Deslipping, and decrowning and deslipping together produced significantly more suckers than control and decrowning-treatments. Deslipping-, and decrowning and deslipping together produced the maximum fruit weight and yield, whilst deslipping produced the longest fruits. Sunburn was greatest on decrowned and deslipped fruits, followed by deslipped fruits and then by control and decrowned fruits. Pruning did not influence happa production, peduncle size, fruit maturity, and % TSS, % acidity and TSS/acidity ratio of the fruit.No significant interaction between slip size and pruning was found.  相似文献

以“茉利香”葡萄品种为试材,在果实转色期分别喷施0、500、1 000、1 500 mg/L不同浓度的ABA,以期研究ABA对葡萄果实着色及品质的影响.结果表明:ABA处理对“茉利香”葡萄果实重量、体积有影响,但影响不大;对果实可溶性固形物、滴定酸、还原糖和花色苷含量的影响较为显著,说明ABA处理可促进“茉利香”葡萄果实着色和果实品质的提高,喷施浓度以1 000 mg/L为最佳.  相似文献

The effects of urea and calcium chloride and their combinations on qualitative and quantitative characteristics of pomegranate fruits were studied over 2 years. Aqueous solutions of urea at 0%, 0.5%, 1% and 2% and calcium chloride at 0%, 2% and 4% were applied on two branches of pomegranate (Punica granatum L. cv Malase-Yazdi) at full bloom (FB) and 1 month after full bloom (1MAFB) stages. Urea at concentrations of 1% and 2% significantly increased aril size, fruit length and diameter. Calcium chloride at concentrations of 2% and 4% significantly increased average fruit weight and ascorbic acid (AA) content. Both urea and calcium chloride increased soluble solid content (SSC) at all of the used concentrations. In the first time of spraying, higher level of treatments reduced titratable acidity (TA), but the second time of spraying did not significantly affect the TA.  相似文献

The proportion of genetic and environmental variances for fruit weight (FW), flesh thickness (FLT), flesh weight (FLW), fruit firmness (FF), seed cavity weight (SCW), total soluble solids (TSS), titratable acidity (TA), juice acidity (pH), and ascorbic acid (AA) in guava were estimated with eight genotypes, four trees per genotype, and five fruits per tree for two seasons. The variance components of the fruit traits were consisted of genotypic variance (4.2–65.1%), seasonal variance (0–61.0%), genotype by season interaction variance (2.0–17.0%), among trees within genotype variance (0–4.2%), tree by season interaction variance (0–7.4%), and among fruit within tree variance (19.0–50.7%). A high proportion of genotypic variance was found with FW, FLT, FLW, SCW, and AA indicating that genetic improvement for these traits through breeding and selection was achievable. Seasonal variance was high for pH, while among fruits within tree variance was greatest for FF, TA, and TSS. The traits which were high in either season were more difficult to improve genetically.  相似文献

连续2年以“Y”形整枝的2年生葡萄绯红(VitisviniferaL.cv.Cardinal)品种为试材,在超早促成栽培的早期进行根域土壤加温处理,探讨其对根域土壤温度、树体发育和果实品质的影响。结果表明,根域加温提高促成栽培早期土壤温度约10℃,各物候期均早于未加温处理2~5d,新梢生长好,叶面积大;花穗发育好,单株果穗数显著增加;果汁含糖量和果皮花青素含量增加,可滴定酸降低,果实品质提高;果粒重量、果穗重量和单株产量均显著高于未加温处理。并就根域加温效果的形成机理进行了探讨。  相似文献

A recent increasing demand in Western countries for pomegranate products by consumers is especially supported for the nutritional and medicinal characteristics, due to the antioxidant properties of this fruit. Some studies have been published on the morphological and biochemical characteristics of pomegranate fruits in some Mediterranean countries, but little information is available about the genotypes present in Italy and in particular in Apulia (Southeastern region of Italy). This study (2008–2009) evaluated morpho-pomological and chemical parameters of eight pomegranate genotypes localized in private small orchards. Significant differences were observed among the pomegranate genotypes for many of the parameters investigated. In particular, fruit weight ranged from 168.9 g (SouMol) to 574.9 g (SouOst), °Brix from 14.7 (ComTri) to 18.0 (SouMol), titratable acidity from 5.4 (ComMol) to 25.0 (SouTri) g/L. SouMol showed the highest polyphenols (97.1 mg/L) and vitamin C (236.3 mg/L) contents. Oil content of the seeds was between 5.90% and 10.30%, no differences have been observed for the fatty acid composition with conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) isomers as the most abundant fraction (81.23%). Considering all the evaluated parameters, and especially those referring to the organoleptic characteristics and antioxidants content, it must be stated that the best genotypes worthy to be considered from agricultural and industrial points of view were AdeSgi for fresh market and SouOst for the juice industry.  相似文献

Summary

Changes in fruit weight, total soluble solids (TSS), sugar content and postharvest ethylene production during fruit development were compared on fruit of cherimoya (Annona cherimola Mill., cv. Big Sister) pollinated at different times (early, at the beginning of April, 1995 and late, at the end of May, 1994). Fruit weight increased by growth, independently of pollination times. Changes in TSS and sugar content were strongly affected by pollination time. In late pollinated fruits, both TSS and sugar content increased during the growth period, 110–160 d after pollination, while neither increased with fruit growth in early pollinated fruit. Moreover, changes in TSS and sugar content after ripening depended not only on pollination time but also on the growth period. With late pollination, fruit harvested after 140 d became edible after ripening. The TSS and total sugar contents, (the sum of fructose, glucose and sucrose contents) increased to about 20° Brix and above 16%, respectively. But early pollinated fruits were not edible after ripening, since total sugar content increased only to about 7%, even though they kept growing for 160 d on the tree. The maximum rate of ethylene production declined and the number of days to the ethylene peak from harvest is also reduced with growth in both cases. These changes were closely correlated with days after pollination (r>0.9) regardless of pollination time. Comparisons of accumulated temperature suggest that temperature at pollination time and during the resting period of growth affected fruit development. These results indicate that neither fruit weight nor number of days after pollination is a suitable index for harvesting time.  相似文献

Trees of ber cv Banarasi Karaka were sprayed with urea solutions of 2, 4 or 6% just before flowering in September. Ripened fruits were analysed for total soluble solids, acid, sugars, vitamin C and pectin contents. Cross-pollination was performed with soft-X-irradiated hyuga-natsu pollens (1000 Gy) for ‘Tosa-Buntan’ pummelo (Citrus grandis (L.) Osbeck). This resulted in the transformation of large and complete seeds into small and empty ones (practically seedless). Although fruit set, fruit retention, total soluble solids content (TSS) and titratable acidity of the juice were not affected, decrement in the fruit size was observed. Two weeks after the pollination, endosperm cell division with free nuclei began in both the non-irradiated and irradiated pollen treatment conditions. Seven weeks after pollination, endosperm division with the cell wall occurred in the non-irradiated pollen treatment conditions; however, the endosperm development ceased in most ovules that underwent the irradiated pollen treatment, and the ovules remained in their free nuclear stage. The delayed degeneration of the ovules, following successful fertilization and commencement of endosperm cell division, allow these seedless fruits to be categorized as pseudo-parthenocarpic.  相似文献

Summary

The effects of suboptimal low temperature were investigated on an array of yield, fruit appearance and fruit quality characters in 23 cultivars of melon, Cucumis melo L. The cultivars were grown in two temperature regimes: (I) a heated greenhouse (T1) with temperatures similar to those used in commercial cultivation in the winter in Israel; and (ii) an unheated greenhouse (T2) that had significantly lower night temperatures than T1. Significant differences were found among the cultivars in all characters. Plants from T2 showed an extended fruiting period, more fruits and higher total yield but smaller and lighter fruits than in T1. Fruits from T2 also had significantly more netting and higher amounts of total soluble sugars (TSS), sucrose and fructose than fruits from T1. Hybrid cultivars showed significantly higher electrical conductivity (EC), pH, acidity, TSS, sucrose, fructose and total sugars than open pollinated cultivars. Three trends were found among the characters in respect to the performance of the cultivars between T1 and T2: (a) most cultivars had significantly higher amounts in T2 than T1 (fruit/plant, yield/plant and fructose); (b) only cultivars with amounts below the pooled mean in T1 had higher amounts in T2 (percent dry weight, sucrose, TSS and total sugars); (c) no trend was found between T1 and T2 (mean fruit weight, pH, EC, glucose). Suboptimal low temperatures, when used appropriately, can aid in improving fruit quality.  相似文献
