Ten Holstein steers (141 kg) were used in two 5 X 5 Latin-square experiments conducted simultaneously to determine the effects of offering different levels and types of feeds with endophyte-infected fescue given ad libitum. In Exp. 1, steers were given ad libitum access to infected fescue hay in the afternoon; in the morning fescue was given ad libitum (basal) or bermudagrass or clover hays were fed at .5 or 1.0% of body weight (BW). Supplementation did not affect total dry matter intake (P greater than .10), but supplementation at 1.0% of BW yielded total intake greater than supplementation at .5% of BW (P less than .05). Supplementation did not change digestibilities of dry or organic matter (P greater than .10). Particulate passage rate was greater (P less than .10) with supplementation at 1.0 than at .5% of BW, and increasing the level of supplementation from .5 to 1.0% of BW affected fluid passage rate positively with clover but negatively with bermudagrass (interaction, P less than .05). Serum prolactin increased (P less than .05) with all supplementation treatments, although no differences were observed between supplement type-supplementation level combinations (P greater than .10). Ground corn and wheat hay were supplements in Exp. 2. Total intake of dry matter was greater with supplements provided at 1.0 rather than at .5% of BW and for corn rather than wheat hay (P less than .05). Neutral detergent fiber digestion (percent of intake and grams per day) rose when wheat hay was offered at 1.0 vs .5% of BW but declined when the level of supplemental corn increased from .5 to 1.0% of BW (interaction, P less than .05). There were no differences among diets in particulate and fluid passage rates and serum prolactin concentration. Supplementation with nontoxic forage of a basal diet of infected fescue yielded intake substitution when forage was offered at .5% of BW, although incomplete substitution occurred with 1.0% of BW of supplemental forage such that total intake increased as compared to the lower level of supplementation.  相似文献

Two studies evaluated the effects of ammonium carbamate (AC) on preservation and digestibility of high-moisture (HM) Coastal bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon) hay. A 3 X 7 factorial arrangement of treatments in a completely random design was used to estimate the efficacy of AC in laboratory conditions. Treatments were 25, 30, or 35% moisture (M) forage treated with levels (L) of 0, 1.14, 2.28, 3.42, 4.56, 5.70, or 6.84% AC. Nitrogen in forage increased (P less than .01) linearly due to M and L. There was a linear decrease (P less than .01) in ADF N due to M. Neutral detergent fiber decreased (P less than .01) linearly as M increased and increased (P less than .01) linearly with increased L. Acid detergent fiber decreased (P less than .01) linearly due to L. There was an M X L interaction (P less than .01) for hemicellulose (HC) concentrations and total aerobic fungal counts. The digestibility of HM hay treated with a product (ACNH) containing 57% AC was compared to that of untreated hay (UH) and UH plus urea (UHU) when fed to lambs (four lambs per treatment). Digestibility of NDF and hemicellulose (P less than .01) and ADF (P less than .05) was increased for ACNH forage compared with UH or UHU. Ammonium carbamate seems to be beneficial for preserving HM forage, and an admixture containing ammonium carbamate is effective for increasing the digestibility of Coastal bermudagrass hay.  相似文献

Fecal samples were collected to evaluate mathematical models to describe the kinetics of digesta passage in the segments of the equine gastrointestinal tract and to compare the passage kinetics of hay and oats. Four Norwegian Cold-blooded trotters (cecally cannulated, approximately 500 kg of BW) were fed Cr-mordanted hay and Yb-marked oats with their morning meal. The meal consisted of 2 kg of hay and 1 kg of oats processed as ground, pelleted, extruded, or micronized. Each horse was fed each type of oats on different days of collection, after a 5-d adaptation period, in a 4 x 4 Latin square design. Fecal samples were collected 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 48, and 52 h after administration of the marker dose. The samples were analyzed for Cr and Yb, and values were plotted using 1- and 2-compartment nonlinear passage models and an algebraic model. The 1-compartment G4 model and the 2-compartment G4G1 model showed an equally good fit to the observed excretion curves, based on low mean square error and SE. The excretion curves for hay (Cr) and oats (Yb) showed a striking similarity, and there seemed to be no difference in retention time between hay and oats in the horse. The mixing compartments in the horse are believed to be the cecum or both the cecum and the right ventral and dorsal segments of the colon, but further research in this area is needed to make a final conclusion.  相似文献

Two experiments were conducted to measure effects of source and level of roughage on the flow of corn residues through the gastrointestinal tract of cattle. In Exp. 1, steers (195 kg) were fed diets of ground corn with 0, 30 or 60% of ground Coastal bermudagrass hay (Cynodon dactylon) [L.] Pers.) at intakes of 1, 1.5 or 2% of BW in a 9 x 9 Latin square. Experiment 2 consisted of two 4 x 4 Latin squares with either rice hulls (square 1) or ground Coastal bermudagrass hay (square 2) providing 0, 7.5, 15 or 30% of the total diet fed at 1.5% of BW. After a 28-d adjustment period, a portion of the corn in one meal was replaced with cracked corn stained with brilliant green. The concentrations of stained corn residues appearing in the feces subsequent to dosing were fitted to a one-compartment, age-dependent model and compartmental mean residence time (CMRT) and time delay (tau) were estimated. In Exp. 1, increasing the level of intake of the ration from 1% to 1.5 or 2.0% of BW increased (P less than .05) CMRT by 52% and reduced (P less than .05) tau by 41%. In Exp. 2, source of roughage had no effect (P = .95) on CMRT or tau. Combined results of the two experiments indicated that increasing proportion (P) of either roughage was associated with an exponential decline in CMRT of stained corn residues (CMRT = 1211 * e-.0315P) from rations consumed at 1.5 and 2.0% of BW. No consistent effect of roughage type or proportion was noted on time delay in the two experiments collectively. These results indicate that increasing the proportion of roughage in the diet exponentially reduces residence time of corn residues in the ruminoreticulum (CMRT) without affecting residence time in the postgastric segments (tau).  相似文献

Five ruminally and abomasally cannulated heifers (average weight 365 kg) were fed 6 kg/d of early (EOG) or late (LOG) maturity orchardgrass (OG) hay with or without replacement of EOG or LOG by 1.5 kg/d red clover hay (RC) in a 5 x 5 Latin square design. A fifth treatment, of LOG supplemented with 100 g/d casein (LOG + C), was used to evaluate the effect of supplemental protein. In situ fiber digestion, in vivo nutrient digestion and rate of passage from the rumen of large (retained on a 1.68-mm screen; labeled with La) and small (passed a 1.68-mm screen; labeled with Sm) EOG and LOG particles were determined in heifers fed these diets. Early maturity OG hay had 20% and 62%, respectively, greater (P less than .05) rates, and 61% and 73%, respectively, greater (P less than .05) extents of in situ NDF and ADF disappearance than LOG. Red clover substitution for OG increased (P less than .05) in situ extent of NDF disappearance by 6%. Early maturity OG large and small particles had 40% and 36%, respectively, greater (P less than .05) rates of passage than LOG. Large and small particle ruminal pool sizes were increased (P less than .05) by 115% and 33%, respectively, with LOG. Red clover substitution for OG increased (P less than .10) large and small particle output (kg/d) from the rumen by 15% and large particle rate of passage by 20%. Grass maturity may be affecting intake through rate of large particle size reduction and passage and small particle passage, although legume supplementation of OG may influence intake by increasing rate of large particle size reduction and passage.  相似文献

Soybean hulls have been used as a feed ingredient for horses for many years and are generally used as a fiber source. The NRC (11) gives them an energy value of 1.88 Mcal DE/kg DM, which is comparable with a medium quality grass hay. Recent evidence suggests that soybean hulls may have a higher energy value. Two feeding trials were conducted to evaluate the energy value of soybean hulls by using them to replace oats in a concentrate for weanling horses. In Exp. 1, 16 Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse weanlings, 145.2 4.1 d of age, were paired within breed and gender subgroups and assigned at random to either the oats or soybean hull-based concentrate. Soybean hulls replaced oats at 25% of the concentrate. Concentrates were fed individually to appetite for two, 1.5-h feeding periods daily with the concentrate restricted to the lesser amount consumed by the pair based on percentage of BW. Coastal bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon) hay (12.8% CP) was group fed at 1.0 kg/100 kg BW daily. The BW and measurements of the weanlings were made at 14-d intervals for 112 d, and the weanlings were radiographed for bone mineral deposition determinations at the start and conclusion of the study. Experiment 2 used 13 weanlings starting at 143.8 ± 4.2 d of age and was identical to Exp. 1 except the source of the Coastal bermudagrass hay was different and the concentrate intake was fed ad libitum during the two, 1.5-h feeding periods. In Exp. 1, no differences in feed or nutrient intake, BW, or body measurement gains were detected (P > 0.05) except for body length gain, which was greater for the weanlings on the oat-based concentrate (P < 0.05). The weanlings gained 0.73 and 0.70 kg/d on the oat and soybean hull-based concentrates, respectively. In Exp. 2, the protein content of the hay (7.0% CP) was less than the previous year, resulting in a protein intake below NRC (11) recommendations. No differences in BW, withers height, or body length gain were detected (P < 0.05), but heart girth (P < 0.05) and hip height gain (P < 0.05) were both greater for the weanlings fed the oat-based concentrate. The weanlings gained 0.74 and 0.61 kg/d on the oat and soybean hull-based concentrates, respectively. Bone mineral deposition was not different between diet groups for either experiment. Results suggest that soybean hulls have an energy value for weanling horses that is similar to oats when fed with medium quality grass hay. When fed with low quality grass hay, soybean hulls do not seem to be as valuable as oats, perhaps because of either the slow energy release or the availability of protein in the foregut.  相似文献

The binding affinity of ytterbium (Yb3+) and hafinum (Hf4+) to ligands of chemical entities of fragments of bermudagrass tissues and their resistance to exchanging Yb with other ligands and to displacement by protons were investigated. Chemical entities of acid resistant NDF (ARNDF), 0.1 N acid detergent fiber (0.1 N ADF), and permanganate cellulose (CELL) were prepared from fragments of bermudagrass hay (Cynodon dactylon [L.] Pers.) obtained by grinding to pass a 2-mm sieve. 175Ytterbium and Yb, as YbCl3, were initially bound to each preparation by soaking for 12 h in pH 5.5 borate buffer to obtain Yb bound onto ligands having affinity constants for Yb equal to or greater than that for the weakly stable borate ligand, Yb > or = borate. The fraction of Yb > or = borate was measured and fragments then sequentially exposed to acetate, citrate, nitrotriacetate (NTA), and EDTA ions to allow exchange of Yb from Yb > or = borate with ligands having affinity constants for Yb equal to or greater than acetate (Yb > or = acetate), citrate (Yb > or = citrate), NTA (Yb > or = NTA), and EDTA (Yb > or = EDTA) ions. Binding of Yb > or = borate indicated the existence of two species of ligands: strong ligands binding essentially 100% of added Yb at levels of 1 to 1,300 ppm (0.1 N ADF) and at 1 to 7,000 ppm (ARNDF); and weaker ligands binding 4 and 8% of the Yb, respectively, at levels of added Yb greater than 1,300 ppm and 7,000 ppm. Ytterbium > or = acetate of ARNDF, but not 0.1 N ADF, was as resistant to exchange as Yb > or = citrate. Ytterbium > or = borate was exchanged extensively (85% or greater) with soluble ligands having affinity constants > or = NTA. Ytterbium resistance to proton displacement at pH of 1.5 increased with Yb > or = EDTA > Yb > or = NTA > Yb > or = citrate > Yb > or = acetate. Very efficient binding of Yb to CELL suggested that such chemical preparations are not representative of native cellulose. Hafnium (4+) was strongly bound to plant tissues rendering both Hf and Hf-bound DM insoluble at a pH of 1.5 and insoluble in a modified NDF solvent without EDTA. It is concluded that Yb specifically applied as Yb > or = acetate and Hf4+ are indelible markers for estimating sojourn time of undigested plant tissues at the normal pH of the rumen. Because of its resistance to proton displacement, Hf4+ would be an indelible marker for estimating sojourn time in more acidic postgastric segments of the gastrointestinal tract.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to assess fermentability by canine gut microflora to include shortchain fatty acid (SCFA) production, organic matter (OM) disappearance, and gas production of vegetable and fruit fiber sources compared to fiber standards (psyllium, citrus pectin, and Solka Floc). Fiber sources included apple pomace, carrot pomace, flaxseed, fruit blend (mixture of peach, almond, nectarine, and plum), grape pomace, pea hulls, pistachio, and tomato pomace. Substrates were fermented in vitro for 4, 12, and 24 h with fecal flora obtained from three healthy dogs. Citrus pectin had the highest OM disappearance, SCFA production, and gas production at all times of fermentation; psyllium was intermediate and Solka Floc was lowest. A wide variation in fermentability was noted among the vegetable and fruit fiber sources. Apple pomace, carrot pomace, and flaxseed had the greatest fermentability as assessed by OM disappearance. Pea hulls and tomato pomace had intermediate OM disappearances, and fruit blend, grape pomace, and pistachio were poorly fermented. Carrot pomace produced the largest amounts of gas and SCFA. Apple pomace produced high concentrations of gas but intermediate concentrations of SCFA. Pea hulls and tomato pomace produced intermediate concentrations of gas and SCFA, whereas flaxseed, fruit blend, grape pomace, and pistachio produced low amounts of these fermentation products. For all substrates collectively, OM disappearance was highly correlated with both gas production (r2 = 0.782 and 0.723 for 12- and 24-h values, respectively) and SCFA production (r2 = 0.737 and 0.738 for 12- and 24-h values, respectively). In general, OM disappearance, gas production, and SCFA production were related to the insoluble:soluble fiber ratio in the samples; as the insoluble:soluble ratio decreased (increased soluble fiber), the OM disappearance, gas production, and SCFA production increased.  相似文献

本试验旨在研究不同来源纤维饲粮对福建黄兔表观消化率、十二指肠组织形态及盲肠纤维消化酶活性的影响。试验选用200只健康、体重接近的断奶福建黄兔,随机分为4组,每组5个重复,每个重复10只。4组分别饲喂由添加比例为25%的苜蓿草粉、甜菜渣、燕麦草、大麦糠为纤维饲料原料配制而成的饲粮。试验期为60 d,于试验第54天以全收粪法进行消化试验,屠宰后测定十二指肠绒毛高度、隐窝深度及二者比值,盲肠纤维素酶、半纤维素酶和果胶酶活性。结果表明:①苜蓿草粉与甜菜渣组的中性洗涤纤维(NDF)、酸性洗涤纤维(ADF)、不溶性纤维(IDF)、可溶性纤维(SDF)的消化率均极显著高于大麦糠与燕麦草组(P<0.01)。其中,甜菜渣组不溶性纤维、可溶性纤维的消化率最高,与苜蓿草粉组差异显著(P<0.05)。②苜蓿草粉与甜菜渣组的绒毛高度极显著高于大麦糠组(P<0.01),但显著低于燕麦草组(P<0.05),隐窝深度显著低于大麦糠和燕麦草组(P<0.05),其中甜菜渣组隐窝深度最低。甜菜渣组的绒毛高度/隐窝深度(V/C)最高,极显著高于其他组(P<0.01)。③苜蓿草粉与甜菜渣组盲肠3种纤维消化酶活性均极显著高于大麦糠和燕麦草组(P<0.01),其中甜菜渣组的3种酶活均极显著高于苜蓿草粉组(P<0.01)。综上所述,对比4种纤维饲粮,在饲粮配方中添加25%的甜菜渣能提高肉兔的表观消化率与盲肠纤维消化酶活性,并能改善十二指肠组织形态。  相似文献

In trial 1, Coastal bermudagrass pellets were fed for 63 d to 21 growing rams of Barbados Blackbelly (B), Dorset (D) and Blackbelly X Dorset (B X D) breeding to determine the effect of breed on voluntary intake (VI) and total gain. Initially, each breed group consisted of seven rams with mean weights of 18.6, 31.0 and 26.4 kg, respectively. At the end of the intake and growth phase, digestibility, rate of passage and gastrointestinal tract (GIT) fill were determined. Chromium-mordanted fiber was used as a particle phase marker. Intakes during the digestibility-marker phase averaged 75% of the VI determined in the intake and growth phase. Breeds did not differ in VI, total gain or digestibilities of dry matter (DM) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF). Apparent crude protein (CP) digestibility was approximately 3 percentage units higher (P less than .10) for B X D than for B or D rams. Rate of passage was faster (P less than .05) for B X D rams than for the other breed groups, while D rams were intermediate. Total mean retention time (MRT) was shorter (P less than .05) for B X D rams compared with the other breed groups. Ruminal retention time (RRT) was shorter (P less than .05) and GIT fill was less (P less than .10) for D and B X D than for B rams. In trial 2, chopped orchardgrass-alfalfa hay was fed for 26 d to 19 of the same rams used in trial 1. Effects of diluting the energy content of a corn-soybean meal diet with either alfalfa meal or corn cobs on nutrient digestibility and rate of passage of feed residues and particle markers were measured in crossbred (Yorkshire X Landrace X Chester White X Large White) barrows with a mean body weight of about 80 kg. The excretion pattern in the feces of Cr-mordanted diet and of rare earths initially bound individually to the mixed diet or to the corn or soybean meal suggested a model having a single age-dependent compartment with time delay. The compartmental turnover rate parameter (lambda 1) estimated by this model did not differ for the rare earths individually used to mark the corn-soybean meal diet (Yb), the corn (La) or the soybean meal (Sm). In contrast, lambda 1 for Cr was smaller (P less than .001) than that of the mean for the three rare earths. The residence time due to displacement flow (tau) did not differ among markers. These results were interpreted to indicate that the high specific gravity of Cr-mordanted feed slowed flow due to mixing but not due to displacement. Correlations between lambda 1 and tau were less than .71. These results suggested that the flow of rare earths initially bound to feed ingredients provides a reasonable estimate of the flow of their undigested residues through the gastrointestinal tracts of nonruminant animals. Inclusion of the fibrous feeds reduced digestibility of dry matter, cell contents, crude protein and acid detergent lignin and increased digestibility of cell walls, cellulose and acid detergent fiber. Digestibilities of cellulose and acid detergent fiber were greater with alfalfa than with corn cobs as the fiber source. Differences in digestibility of crude protein and acid detergent fiber existed due to litter in one replicate of the experiment. Variation in digestibility was not significantly related to variation in lambda 1 or tau within or among treatments and litters. This suggests that variations in lambda 1 and tau were not important causes of the observed variation in digestibility.  相似文献

Several models and markers are available for digesta kinetic studies. In this study, kinetic estimates derived from chromium-mordanted hay or pellets were compared to estimates derived from rare earth markers (Yb, Dy, or Er) applied individually to samples. Twelve yearling rams (52 kg) were given ad libitum access to either hay or a commercial pelleted diet in a crossover experiment. Digesta kinetic estimates were obtained both by nonlinear analysis with two age-independent rates (G1G1) or with gamma time dependency in the fast compartment (G2G1 to G4G1) and by linear regression of natural log transformed fecal marker concentrations (LN method of estimate). Model did not influence total tract (P > .21) or ruminal mean retention times (P > .87). Partitioning of total retention time was similar (P > .21) for the LN, G3G1, and G4G1 models, but the G1G1 and G2G1 models did not adequately fit these data. Nonlinear models overestimated, and LN underestimated, fecal DM output by 9% (SEM = 4.7) for the hay diet. All the nonlinear models provided fecal DM output estimates that were within 5% of actual fecal DM output, but the LN model underestimated it by 18% (SEM = 3.3) for the pelleted diet. Ruminal outflow rate was slower (P < .01) and both ruminal and total mean retention time estimates were longer (P < .01) for Cr than for the rare earths. Despite the marker chosen, relative diet effects were similar. The three rare earth markers gave identical results for digesta kinetic estimates, indicating that they are useful for simultaneous study of more than one ingredient or particle, but direct comparison of rare earth and Cr-mordant passage rates is not advisable.  相似文献

Digesta passage rate and digestibility of diet components (dOM, dNDF and dADF) were measured in the entire digestive tract of six ponies to determine the effects of the dietary hay:grain ratio on the efficiency of fiber digestion. Three diets based on chopped meadow hay and rolled barley were tested in a 3×3 Latin square experiment: 100% hay (100:0, 114gDM/KgBW0.75/day), 70% hay—30% barley (70:30, 69gDM/KgBW0.75/day) and 50% hay—50% barley (50:50, 58gDM/KgBW0.75/day). Particles markers (Europium for hay and Ytterbium for barley) and a solute marker (Cr-EDTA) were used for passage rate measurements. As the proportion of barley in the diet increased, DM intake decreased and mean retention time (MRT) of all markers increased significantly. Even if the barley meal was fed before the hay, excretion rates of all markers were similar. The digestibility of OM increased linearly (P<0.05) whereas that of NDF and ADF decreased (P<0.05). Although the MRTs increased when grain was fed, the efficiency of fiber utilization decreased. Further investigation on fibrolytic microbial ecosystem are required to explain these observations.  相似文献

Two experiments were conducted to determine the dietary value of pellets containing kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus cv. 'Everglade 41') hay. Averaged across both experiments, kenaf pellets contained 82.6% kenaf hay, 16.6% liquid molasses, and 0.8% mineral oil. The chemical composition of the kenaf pellet was 12.6% crude protein (CP), 41.2% neutral detergent fiber (NDF), and 14.4% acid detergent fiber (ADF). In Exp. 1 (digestion and N balance trial), 18 lambs (body weight [BW] = 36.4 kg) were blocked by BW. Lambs were randomly assigned within a block to Diet 1 (59.5% corn and 40.5% alfalfa pellet), Diet 2 (59.7% corn, 28.4% alfalfa pellets, and 11.9% kenaf pellets), or Diet 3 (59.6% corn, 16.5% alfalfa pellets, and 23.9% kenaf pellets). Diets were formulated so that CP was the first-limiting nutrient. Each diet was limit-fed at 2.4% of BW. Replacing alfalfa pellets with kenaf pellets tended to decrease (P = 0.10) CP and ADF intakes, but increased (P = 0.01) DM digestibility. Diet had no effect (P = 0.33) on N balance. In Exp. 2 (dry matter [DM] intake trial), 32 lambs (BW = 30.4 kg) were blocked by gender and BW. Within a block, lambs were randomly assigned to one of four diets in a 2 x 2 factorial arrangement. Main effects were hay (bermudagrass or fescue) and supplemental protein source (kenaf or alfalfa pellets). Lambs were housed in individual pens with ad libitum access to the assigned hay. Supplemental protein was fed (185 g of DM) once daily. Hay intake was measured weekly for 8 wk. Lambs consumed more (P = 0.002) fescue than bermudagrass hay (743 vs 621 g/ d). Lambs fed fescue hay gained weight more rapidly (P = 0.001) than lambs fed bermudagrass hay (120 vs 72 g/d). Hay intake and ADG were similar (P = 0.90) for lambs fed alfalfa or kenaf pellets. Kenaf hay mixed with molasses and mineral oil can be formed into a pellet. In the diets used in this experiments, kenaf pellets can replace alfalfa pellets in diets fed to lambs without altering forage intake, gain, or N retention.  相似文献

本试验旨在研究饲粮纤维源及粗纤维(CF)水平对肉兔营养物质消化率、肠道消化酶活性及盲肠菌群多样性的影响。试验采用双因子试验设计,依据等能等氮原则,设2种纤维源(苜蓿草粉、稻壳粉)、3个CF水平(12%、14%、16%),共配制6种试验饲粮。选择144只70~80日龄、平均体重(2 002±77)g的健康伊拉生长肉兔,随机分为6组,每组4个重复,每个重复6只兔,单笼饲养。饲养试验为期4周,饲养试验期末,采用全收粪法进行消化试验,之后进行屠宰,取肠道食糜用于消化酶活性及盲肠菌群多样性的测定。结果表明:1)苜蓿草粉组干物质(DM)、CF、酸性洗涤纤维(ADF)、木质素(ADL)的消化率显著或极显著高于稻壳粉组(P0.05或P0.01),粗蛋白质(CP)消化率则极显著低于稻壳粉组(P0.01);12%CF水平组DM、中性洗涤纤维(NDF)、ADF的消化率显著高于14%CF水平组(P0.05),同时该组能量的消化率及表观消化能(ADE)极显著高于14%、16%CF水平组(P0.01)。2)稻壳粉组十二指肠胰蛋白酶活性极显著高于苜蓿草粉组(P0.01)。与14%、16%CF水平组相比,12%CF水平组的空肠淀粉酶、胰蛋白酶活性及盲肠纤维素酶活性均最低。3)纤维源对盲肠菌群丰富度和香农指数无显著影响(P0.05),但苜蓿草粉组的盲肠菌群均衡指数极显著高于稻壳粉组(P0.01)。CF水平对盲肠菌群丰富度和香农指数有显著影响(P0.05),其中16%CF水平组的数值均为最高。综上所述,在本试验条件下:1)苜蓿草粉组肉兔DM、CF、ADF、ADL的消化率及盲肠菌群均衡指数显著或极显著高于稻壳粉组,但十二指肠胰蛋白酶活性极显著低于稻壳粉组。2)饲粮CF水平为12%时肉兔的ADE和各主要营养物质的消化率最高;CF水平越高,肉兔空肠淀粉酶、胰蛋白酶活性和盲肠纤维素酶活性越高;饲粮CF水平为16%时肉兔盲肠菌群的多样性较高。  相似文献

EasiFlo cottonseed (ECS), produced by coating whole cottonseed (WCS) with cornstarch to simplify handling and mixing with other ingredients, is marketed commercially. The objective of this trial was to determine its digestibility by small ruminants. Four mature Nubian wether goats, in a 4 x 4 Latin square arrangement of treatments, were fed diets that contained about 45% bermudagrass hay (BGH) plus 0, 15.7, 32.7, or 50.3% ECS, with the ECS replacing corn and soybean meal (2:1 ratio) in the concentrate portion of the diet. Feed intakes and digestibility of components were measured, and passage rate was estimated using ytterbium-marked BGH. Dry matter intake decreased at an increasing rate (P < 0.01) as ECS or fat concentration in the diet increased. Digestibility was linearly depressed (P= 0.003) as ECS replaced corn and soybean meal in the diet, primarily due to depressed (P < 0.05) digestibility of NDF, ADF, and nonfibrous carbohydrates (NFC). In contrast, fat digestibility tended to increase (P = 0.11) linearly and N utilization was increased (P = 0.04) linearly as ECS concentration was increased. Passage kinetics were not altered. Based on regression estimates of TDN for BGH and literature values of TDN for other feed ingredients, the total digestible nutrient content of ECS for mature goats fed a 45% roughage diet was estimated to be 78.0 +/- 9.1%, a value quite similar to that (77.2%) proposed for whole cottonseed for large ruminants by NRC tables. Low digestibility of fiber (under 10% of NDF) and of nonfibrous carbohydrate limits the digestibility of DM and energy from ECS.  相似文献

Matua bromegrass (Bromus willdenowii Kunth. cv. Grasslands Matua) was introduced in 1973, but little information exists concerning its potential as a hay for horses. Thus, voluntary intake and apparent digestibility of OM, CP, and fiber components of Matua by 18 Quarter Horse yearlings (mean initial BW 354 kg; SE 5.8) were compared with alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) and coastal bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon L.) as hays in a randomized block design. A 15-d adjustment period was followed by a 5-d collection period during which the hays were consumed ad libitum. Voluntary intake of DM was greater (P<.01) for alfalfa (10.9 kg/d) than for the mean of the grasses, and intake of Matua (10.0 kg/d) was greater (P<.001) than that of bermudagrass (7.4 kg/d). Apparent digestibility of OM was greater (P<.001) for alfalfa (74%) than for the mean of the grasses but did not differ between Matua (64%) and bermudagrass (60%). At the end of the digestion trial, each yearling was offered each of the three forage hays during an 11-d period to determine subsequent preference and effect of previous hay experience. Yearlings preferred alfalfa over the grass hays and generally selected more Matua than bermudagrass. All yearlings consumed less of the forage species to which they had been previously exposed compared with unadapted yearlings. The Matua hay fed in this trial was palatable and met most of the nutritional needs for yearling horses.  相似文献

To determine the effect of lasalocid on endocrine patterns associated with puberty, 12 half-sib prepuberal Brahman bulls were allotted by age and weight (174 to 256 d of age; 141 to 243 kg) to control or lasalocid treatments. Bulls in the control treatment were fed a 4:1 corn:cottonseed meal concentrate plus Coastal bermudagrass hay to which the bulls were given ad libitum access. The lasalocid treatment was identical except for the addition of 200 mg of lasalocid.animal-1.d-1. Blood samples were collected frequently before and after GnRH (200 micrograms, i.m.) on d 7, at 28-d intervals thereafter, and within 14 d after puberty (defined as 50 x 10(6) sperm cells with 10% motility). By d 7, bulls fed lasalocid released more LH (P less than .05), but not testosterone (T;P greater than .10), in response to GnRH than controls. At the time that the first sperm cells were observed in an electroejaculate (FS), lasalocid-fed bulls released more (P less than .05) LH and T than controls. At puberty, there was no difference (P greater than .10) between treatments in amount of T released, although lasalocid-fed bulls released more LH (P less than .05). Before puberty, concentrations of LH were positively correlated with concentrations of T in samples collected 1 and 2 h later. Both groups of bulls exhibited a linear increase in T response with advancing age (P less than .005). Release of LH decreased with age in the control bulls (P less than .10) but was unaffected by age in lasalocid-fed bulls. Both groups showed a decreased (P less than .001) LH:T response ratio with advancing age. Results of this study with bulls confirm previous reports in heifers of the enhancing effect of an ionophore on reproductive function.  相似文献

Objective —To evaluate the seasonal influence, signalment, type of hay consumed, clinical examination findings, and outcome after surgery for horses with ileal impaction. Study Design —A retrospective study. Results —Between 1988 and 1993, 28 horses had surgical correction of ileal impaction. There was a significantly higher rate of ileal impaction during the Fall (September-November, P= .0041). Mean duration of clinical signs of abdominal pain before referral was 15 hours. Transrectal palpation was used to localize the impaction in 11 horses. The ileal impaction was reduced by extraluminal massage aided by admixing of intestinal fluid oral to the impaction or injection of fluids intraluminally and then movement of the ingesta into the cecum alone in 24 horses. A total of 26 horses recovered from surgery; 24 horses were discharged from the hospital and eventually returned to previous use. Two horses had fatal postoperative complications: jejunocec-ostomy dehiscence and development of extensive small intestine adhesions after manual reduction of the impaction. One horse initially treated by manual reduction required jejunocecostomy twice for management of recurrent ileal impaction. Follow-up information was obtained for 21 horses, of which 20 were alive 1 year or longer after surgery. A total of 27 of 28 horses were fed Coastal Bermudagrass hay as the primary type of hay consumed. A total of 9 horses continued to be fed Coastal Bermudagrass hay as the only roughage source, whereas 6 horses were fed Coastal Bermudagrass with at least 50% other hay, and in 6 horses, Coastal Bermudagrass hay was entirely eliminated from the diet. Conclusion and Clinical Relevance—Ileal impactions can be successfully reduced by celiotomy and extraluminal massage and injection techniques to soften the ingesta for passage into the cecum without enterotomy or bypass techniques in most horses. Changes in weather and feeding practices in the Fall may account for an increased risk of ileal impaction in horses in the southeastern United States at that time of year.  相似文献

本试验旨在研究新疆地区玉米青贮、棉籽壳、苜蓿草粉、苜蓿干草、葡萄籽粕、蕃茄酱渣6种奶牛饲料原料的瘤胃降解特性和瘤胃非降解蛋白质(RUP)的小肠消化率(Idg)。选用3头装有永久性瘤胃瘘管的泌乳荷斯坦奶牛,采用尼龙袋法和改进三步体外法测定饲料原料的干物质(DM)、粗蛋白质(CP)、中性洗涤纤维(NDF)和酸性洗涤纤维(ADF)的瘤胃降解特性以及RUP的Idg和小肠可消化粗蛋白质(IDCP)含量。结果表明:1)苜蓿草粉和玉米青贮的DM有效降解率最高,显著高于次之的苜蓿干草、番茄酱渣(P0.05),葡萄籽粕、棉籽壳最低,显著低于其他原料(P0.05);CP有效降解率为番茄酱渣苜蓿草粉玉米青贮苜蓿干草棉籽壳葡萄籽粕,各原料间差异显著(P0.05);NDF有效降解率为玉米青贮苜蓿草粉棉籽壳苜蓿干草番茄酱渣葡萄籽粕,各组饲料原料间差异显著(P0.05);ADF有效降解率为玉米青贮棉籽壳苜蓿干草番茄酱渣苜蓿草粉葡萄籽粕,各组饲料原料间差异显著(P0.05)。2)苜蓿草粉RUP的Idg和IDCP含量最高,Idg显著高于依次降低的苜蓿干草、玉米青贮、番茄酱渣、葡萄籽粕、棉籽壳(P0.05),IDCP含量与苜蓿干草差异不显著(P0.05),显著高于依次降低的玉米青贮、番茄酱渣、葡萄籽粕、棉籽壳(P0.05)。综上所述,不同饲料原料具有不同的瘤胃降解特性,进入小肠IDCP的含量也不同。玉米青贮的DM、NDF和ADF在瘤胃的有效降解率较高,苜蓿草粉RUP的Idg较高,苜蓿草粉和苜蓿干草的IDCP含量较高。  相似文献
