The energy and protein value for Guinea pigs (GP) of 9 forages (7 dicots and 2 grasses) and 5 hay-based diets was determined. The apparent faecal digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein and energy was measured on GP housed in metabolic cages. The forages and the diets were digested in vitro using pepsin and pancreatin hydrolysis and gas fermentation test to simulate stomach, small intestine and large intestine, respectively. Most of the dicots had high digestible crude protein content (152–201 g/kg DM) and the 2 grasses showed lower values (80–85 g/kg DM). Digestible energy content of the forages ranged between 5.79 to 13.08 MJ/kg DM. None of the forage species or hay-based diets provided sufficient energy to supply the 11.7 MJ/kg metabolic energy requirements. The influence of intestinal fermentation on energy and protein values was highlighted by correlations (P<0.05) between in vivo and in vitro data, including gas fermentation. It is the first time that such relationships are reported in single-stomach animals.  相似文献

The use of low-quality whole dates in broilers’ diets was evaluated. The apparent metabolizable energy (AMEn) of whole dates and date pits was determined with or without a β-mannanase-based enzyme (Hemicell – a registered trademark of ChemGen Corp., Gaithersburg, MD. Dried Bacillus lentus fermentation solubles with 158 million units/kg minimum enzyme activity. Recommended usage rate is 0.4 g kg−1 of feed. ChemGen Corp., Gaithersburg, MD, USA). A 3 × 2 factorial arrangement consisting of whole dates (0, 175, and 350 g kg−1) and enzyme (0 or 0.4 g kg−1) was performed to assess the effect of the enzyme on the nutritive value of whole dates (experiment 2) in broilers’ diet. Enzyme improved AMEn contents of the whole dates and date pits. The diets containing 175 or 350 g kg−1 whole dates produced body weight gain (BWG) similar to those obtained without dates. Enzyme improved BWG and feed conversion ratio throughout the experimental period. In conclusion, whole dates can be included in broiler diets at levels up to 350 g kg−1. In addition, β-mannanase supplementation would have beneficial effects on performance and immunity in birds fed on corn–soy or corn–soy–whole dates diets.  相似文献

Abstract

The in vitro cellulase technique was compared with the rumen liquor technique and found to be more efficient for the indexing of the dry matter disappearance (DMD) of forages. A cellulase enzyme concentration of 80 IU/gDM gave a satisfactory linear regression y = l,3585x + 11,6250 (R2 = 0,6453; P ≤ 0,01) for the estimation of in vitro digestibility (y) from cellulase dry matter disappearance (CDMD) (x).

Using the modified laboratory procedure developed, two operators can analyse over 100 samples, in duplicate, each week. Over a period of 18 months the technique was used to index the digestibility of forages from a wide variety of rangeland sites in Natal.  相似文献

The effects of 18 essential oils, yeast, Quebracho tannin and Quillaja saponin on ruminal methane and gas production (GP) were studied in vitro. A lactating cow diet was incubated with rumen inoculum. Doses of the additives (mg/L) were: essential oils = 500; tannin = 67; yeast = 8.35 and 16.7; and saponin = 300. Lemongrass, estragole, eugenol, geraniol, limonen, thyme oil and thymol produced less gas (overall mean 33.8 mL/200 mg dry matter (DM)) than control (43.6 mL/200 mg DM; P < 0.001). Methane produced (mL/200 mg DM) by guaiacol (10.7), lemongrass (9.6), limonene (11.4), thyme oil (10.9) and thymol (2.1) was lower than control (12.5) (P < 0.001). Methane percentage on total GP was lower (P < 0.001) for cinnamic alcohol (25.4), guaiacol (24.5), thymol (19.7) and vanillin (26.3) than control (28.8). In a second experiment, thymol, guaiacol and yeast were added to the diet of dry fistulated cows to determine in situ neutral detergent fiber digestibility (NDFD) of six forages and in vivo dietary NDFD. Thymol and yeast decreased in situ NDFD after 24 h (33.9% and 33.5% vs. 38.1%; P = 0.008). Thymol decreased in vivo total tract NDFD (40.8% vs. 51.4%; P = 0.02). Differences in GP and methane levels were registered within classes of additives. A careful selection of additives may allow for the manipulation of ruminal fermentation.  相似文献

A study was done to evaluate banana (Musa paradisiaca) as a forage (leaves and pseudo-stems) for feeding Ovin Martinik lambs (OMK), with the aim to test its impact on carcass quality. Forty four intact OMK male were used after weaning with an initial mean live weight of 14.4 (± 3.3) kg, reared in individual pens. Animals were offered either Dichantium hay (control diet, Dh) or cut chopped leaves and pseudo-stems of banana (experimental diet, Blps). They were fed 200—250 g.d−1 of commercial concentrate. Lambs were slaughtered according to 3 classes of slaughter weight (SW): SW20, SW23 and SW26. Growth and carcass performances of both groups were not significantly different, 77 vs. 81 g.d−1 and 42% vs. 43% hot carcass yield, for Dh vs. Blps, respectively. There was a significant (P < 0.05) decrease (31.0 vs. 29.7%) for the dry matter content of the shoulder for lambs fed the banana diet. However, there was no effect observed for the other chemical component (CP, lipid and mineral 585, 317 and 95 g.kg−1DM, respectively). The shoulder (20% of the carcass whatever the SW) was precocious as demonstrated by the allometry coefficient relative to carcass weight (0.894) significantly (P < 0.01) less than 1. It was concluded that, the use of Blps had no significant effect on growth, carcass weights and yields of the OMK lambs, irrespective of the class of the slaughter weight. From these initial results, the use of banana foliages and pseudo-stems could be recommended as sources of forages.  相似文献

The influence of trichomes on vertical migration and survival of Haemonchus contortus infective larvae (L3) on different forages was investigated. Four different forages showing different distributions of trichomes (Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu, Brachiaria brizantha cv. Xaraes, Andropogon gayanus, and Stylosanthes spp.), and one forage species without trichomes (Panicum maximum cv. Tanzania), were used. Forages cut at the post-grazing height were contaminated with faeces containing L3. Samples of different grass strata (0–10, 10–20, >20 cm) and faeces were collected for L3 quantification once per week over four weeks. In all forages studied, the highest L3 recovery occurred seven days after contamination, with the lowest recovery on A. gayanus. In general, larvae were found on all forages’ strata. However, most of the larvae were at the lower stratum. There was no influence of trichomes on migration and survival of H. contortus L3 on the forages.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine effects of xylanase on in vitro gas production (GP) and in sacco degradability of wheat straw. Rumen fluid was obtained from three Mongolian native goats fitted with permanent rumen cannulas. The trial consisted of five doses (0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 μL/g of substrate) of a commercial xylanase (Dyadic® xylanase PLUS, Dyadic International, Inc., Jupiter, FL, USA). For the in sacco degradability, different levels of xylanase enzyme were added directly onto 2 g of wheat straw in nylon bags and incubated in the rumen for 3, 6, 12, 24 and 48 h to estimate degradability of wheat straw. Total GP increased (P < 0.001) at all times of incubation at intermediate levels of xylanase. Methane production had a similar pattern at 3 and 12 h of incubation; increased linearly at 24 h of incubation, and was unaffected at 6 and 48 h of incubation. Rumen NH3‐N concentration increased linearly at 3 h and the highest values were observed with intermediate enzyme levels. All ruminal volatile fatty acids increased linearly with intermediate levels of the fibrolytic enzyme. The in sacco rate of dry matter degradation decreased linearly (P = 0.020) with increasing enzymes. Intermediate levels of xylanase improved rumen kinetic fermentation and degradability. The outcome of this research indicated that the application of xylanase enzyme could improve in vitro GP fermentation of wheat straw.  相似文献

The effects of three treatments of fibrolytic enzymes (cellulase from Trichoderma longibrachiatum (CEL), xylanase from rumen micro‐organisms (XYL) and a 1:1 mixture of CEL and XYL (MIX) on the in vitro fermentation of two samples of Pennisetum clandestinum (P1 and P2), two samples of Dichanthium aristatum (D1 and D2) and one sample of each Acacia decurrens and Acacia mangium (A1 and A2) were investigated. The first experiment compared the effects of two methods of applying the enzymes to forages, either at the time of incubation or 24 h before, on the in vitro gas production. In general, the 24 h pre‐treatment resulted in higher values of gas production rate, and this application method was chosen for a second study investigating the effects of enzymes on chemical composition and in vitro fermentation of forages. The pre‐treatment with CEL for 24 h reduced (p < 0.05) the content of neutral detergent fibre (NDF) of P1, P2, D1 and D2, and that of MIX reduced the NDF content of P1 and D1, but XYL had no effect on any forage. The CEL treatment increased (p < 0.05) total volatile fatty acid (VFA) production for all forages (ranging from 8.6% to 22.7%), but in general, no effects of MIX and XYL were observed. For both P. clandestinum samples, CEL treatment reduced (p < 0.05) the molar proportion of acetate and increased (p < 0.05) that of butyrate, but only subtle changes in VFA profile were observed for the rest of forages. Under the conditions of the present experiment, the treatment of tropical forages with CEL stimulated their in vitro ruminal fermentation, but XYL did not produce any positive effect. These results showed clearly that effectiveness of enzymes varied with the incubated forage and further study is warranted to investigate specific, optimal enzyme‐substrate combinations.  相似文献

This experiment was conducted to evaluate in vitro effects of equine fecal inocula fermentative capacity on 9 fibrous forages in the presence of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The fibrous feeds were corn stover (Zea mays), oat straw (Avena sativa), sugarcane bagasse and leaves (Saccharum officinarum), llanero grass leaves (Andropogon gayanus), Taiwan grass leaves (Pennisetum purpureum), sorghum straw (Sorghum vulgare), and steria grass leaves (Cynodon plectostachyus). Fibrous feed samples were incubated with several doses of S. cerevisiae; 0 (control), 1.25 (low), 2.5 (medium) and 5 (high) mg/g dry matter (DM) of a commercial yeast product containing 1 × 1010/g. Fecal inoculum was collected from 4 adult horses were fed on an amount of commercial concentrate and oat hay ad libitum. Gas production (GP) was recorded at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 24, and 48 hours post inoculation. An interaction occurred between feeds and yeast dose for fecal pH (P < .01), asymptotic GP (b, ml/g DM); rate of GP (c, /hr); initial delay before GP began (L, hours), GP at 4 hours and 48 hours (P < .01), and GP at 8 hours (P < .01) and at 24 hours (P < .01). Differences in fecal fermentation capacity between the tropical and template grass (P < .05) occurred for fecal pH, c, and GP during first 12 hours, whereas differences occurred (P < .05) between the agriculture byproducts and the grasses for fecal pH, b, and GP from 8 to 48 hours. Fermentation capacity between straws versus not straws (P < .05) differed for fecal pH, b, and GP after 12 hours between straws versus not straws. Addition of S. cerevisiae to Z. mays stover reduced (P < .01) fecal pH and the c fraction with a higher (P < .01) b fraction versus the other feeds. From 4 to 24 hours, S. officinarum bagasse improved GP to the highest values versusS. officinarum leaves. After 24 hours, Z. mays stover had the highest GP, whereas C. plectostachyus leaves had the lowest. There were no differences among the yeast doses for all measured parameters with the exception of L values (linear effect; P < .01). The Z. mays stover had the highest nutritive compared to the other fibrous feeds. However, addition of S. cerevisiae at 2.5 to 5.0 g/kg DM improved fecal fermentation capacity of low-quality forages.  相似文献

Summary Twenty-five species of helminth and arthropod parasites were recorded from village reared pigs in Papua New Guinea during a survey carried out during1966–69. Infection with the lungwormMetastrongylus sp. is considered to be a major contributing cause of mortality in highland areas. Other helminths of economic importance under village management systems are the kidney worm (Stephanurus dentatus), Gnathostoma sp.,Ascaris suum, Oesophagostomum sp. andMacrocanthorhynchus hirudinaceus. The possible role of the New Guinea village pig in transmission of parasitic zoonoses is briefly discussed.
Sumario Se han reportado veinticuatro especies de parásitos helmintos y artr’opodos de cerdos criados en caceríos en Papua, Nueva Guinea, durante una encuesta llevada a cabo durante 1966–1969. La infección con el parásito pulmonarMetastrongilus spp. es considerada ser una causa de importancia de la mortalidad observada en areas elevadas. Otros parásitos helmintos de importancia económica bajo sistemas de manejo en caceríos son: el parásito del ri?ónStephanurus dentatus, Gnathostoma sp.,Ascaris suum, Oesophagostomun sp.,y. Macrocanthorhynchus hirudinaceus. Se discute el posible rol del cerdo do cacerío de Nueva Guinea en la transmisión de zoonosis parasíticas.

Résumé Vingt quatre espèces d’helminthes et d’arthropodes parasites sont rapportées chez les porcs élevés dans les villages en Papouasie et Nouvelle-Guinée pendant une enquête menée de 1966 à 1969. L’infection pulmonaire àMetastrongylus est considérée comme la cause majeure de mortalité dans les zones d’altitude. D’autres helminthes d’importance économique dans le système d’organisation villageois sont le strongle des reins (Stephanurus dentatus), Gnathostoma sp.,Ascaris suum., Oesophagostomum sp. etMacrocanthorhynchus hirudinaceus. Le r?le possible du porc de village en Nouvelle-Guinée dans la transmission de zoonoses parasitatires est brièvement discuté.

Little information exists on the performance of deer on alternative forage species in northern temperate environments during summer and fall, the period of inherent maximum growth in deer. In performance and choice experiments, we compared live weight gain (g/kg0.75/day), absolute [kg/ha dry matter (DM)] and relative (% DM) herbage utilization, relative preference index (RPI) as well as plant community visitation of white‐tailed deer grazing alfalfa (Medicago sativa), birdsfoot trefoil (Lotus corniculatus) or chicory (Cichorium intybus) in north central Alberta, Canada. Herbage phytomass and quality was also measured on the grazed pastures. Alfalfa had higher dry matter yields and crude protein concentrations than chicory and trefoil. Chicory had lower neutral detergent fiber concentrations than the other forages. Tannin concentrations were greatest in birds foot trefoil (nearly 55 g/kg DM), well above those in the other forages (<5 g/kg DM). Live weight gain was similar among deer feeding within the paddocks seeded to birds foot trefoil and chicory, and more than two times higher (p < 0.05) than deer feeding in paddocks seeded to alfalfa. Deer spent more grazing time (about 40%) on chicory pastures than on alfalfa and birds foot trefoil pastures. RPI values were greatest for birds foot trefoil at 2.11, intermediate for chicory at 1.40, and lowest for alfalfa at <0.60. Absolute herbage utilization remained similar (p > 0.05) among the three forage species. In contrast, relative herbage utilization was greater from birds foot trefoil (52% DM) than chicory (40% DM) or alfalfa (25% DM). These results suggest that the use of alfalfa with other alternative forages may prove beneficial to deer production, rather than using alfalfa pasture alone.  相似文献

A 150-day trial was carried out on 40 Italian Mediterranean buffalo cows that, immediately after calving, were equally divided into two homogeneous groups (M and O) based on the number of calving events and previous milk yield. The animals were fed (16 kg dry matter (DM)/head) two isoenergy/isoprotein diets (NEl: 6.39 MJ/kg DM; 15.4 CP% DM), composed of corn (diet M) or barley silage (diet O) concentrate, alfalfa hay, and a vitamin-mineral supplement. The fermentation characteristics of both silage diets were evaluated by an in vitro gas production technique, and their nutritional values were calculated as follows: NEl (MJ/kg DM) = 0.54 + 0.0959 GP + 0.0038 CP + 0.0001733 CP2, where GP is the gas production after 24 h of incubation (ml/200 mg DM) and CP is the protein content of silage (g/kg DM). The nutritional values of the silages were slightly different (4.16 vs. 4.14 MJ/kg DM for M and O, respectively) likely due to the high content of hemicellulose in the O diet (22.0 vs. 16.9%). Average milk yield did not differ between the groups; instead, milk fat (8.39 vs. 9.06%; P < 0.01) and protein (4.41 vs. 4.60%; P < 0.01) levels were significantly higher in the O group. The results elicit great interest in southern Italy where corn cultivation is adversely affected by the high cost of irrigation.

The aetiology of geophagia in periurban dairy cattle in Nigeria was assessed in relation to the mineral status of the serum, the herbage consumed, and the soil from where the herbage was consumed. The study was carried out using nine herds in the derived savannah zone during both the wet and dry seasons. Generally, the Na, Ca, Fe, Zn and Cu levels in the samples were adequate. However, the forages were low in Ca and the serum was deficient in P. Forage, soil and termite hill samples were also deficient in P. The low levels of P in the soil and termite hill samples showed that the consumption of sand by the cattle did not have any positive impact on their P intake. A seasonal effect was apparent (p<0.05) on the serum Na+, PO4 3–, Cu2+ and Fe2+ concentrations but not on Ca2+ and Zn2+ concentrations. A seasonal effect was also significant (p<0.05) on the minerals in the forage. There were also seasonal differences in most of the soil and termite hill minerals. Most samples had higher (p<0.05) mineral levels in the dry season. Herd size and farming activity had no apparent influence on the aetiology of geophagia as they did not affect (p>0.05) the concentration of P in the serum, the reported cause of geophagia. Geophagia is probably caused by a marginal level of P in the serum and low levels in the forage and soil. Experimental trials will be required to confirm these observations.  相似文献

To assess the immunosuppressive effect of Trypanosoma evansi infection in buffalo-calves on immune responses to heterologous antigen, the study was planned to examine the responses of haemorrhagic septicaemia vaccination in simultaneously and previously (80 days before vaccination) T. evansi-infected buffalo-calves. Eight buffalo-calves were divided into three groups. Buffalo-calves of group A (n = 3) were previously (80 days before primary vaccination with haemorrhagic septicaemia [HS] vaccine) infected with T. evansi (1 × 107 tryps.calf−1; sc) and that of group B (n = 3) were infected with T. evansi (1 × 107 tryps.calf−1; sc) on the day of primary vaccination with HS vaccine. Two healthy uninfected control calves given only HS vaccine were kept in group C. All the buffalo-calves were given a booster dose of vaccine 21 days post-primary vaccination (PPV). Twenty eight days PPV, animals of group A were given trypanocidal quinapyramine prosalt at 6.66 mg kg−1. Immunosuppressive effect of T. evansi infection was evident from day 7 PPV with HS vaccine. The effect was more pronounced in previously T. evansi-infected buffalo-calves as compared with simultaneously infected buffalo-calves. Group A buffalo-calves appeared to have recovered from the immunosuppressive effect after 28 days post-trypanocidal treatment as observed by humoral and cell-mediated immune responses. Immunosuppressive effect to HS vaccination was observed in T. evansi-infected buffalo-calves, and trypanocidal therapy enabled the calves to mount the responses similar to uninfected controls.  相似文献

The objective was to estimate—according to the French feeding system—the nutritive value of three tropical grasses (Eragrostis olivacea, Setaria sphacelata and Tripsacum laxum) used in traditional small farms of Burundi. Dry matter (DM) yield was monitored on anti-erosive hedges or on small fields in 60 small farms for eight consecutive years. DM intake and digestibility values were measured on seven steers or seven male sheep. Degradability values were determined on three sheep. S. sphacelata exhibited higher DM yield (t ha−1), energy (UF, kg−1 DM) and protein (PDI, g kg−1 DM) values (17.3, 0.73 and 68, respectively) than T. laxum (9.11, 0.64 and 47) and E. olivacea (not determined, 0.46 and 42). The UF and PDI intakes of these grass species were able to meet only 51% to 92% of the energy and 59% to 133% of the protein requirements for maintenance of the experimental animals.  相似文献

A study to determine the nutritive value of mulberry (Morus alba) leaves in sheep diets was conducted. Mulberry leaves contained (g kg−1 on dry matter basis): 163 ash, 201 crude protein, 120 crude fibre, 37 ether extracts, 479 nitrogen-free extracts, 268 neutral detergent fibre, 148 acid detergent fibre, 41 acid detergent lignin, 121 cellulose and 107 hemicellulose, while the in vitro true digestibility of dry matter was 89.8%. The nitrogen (N) solubility, determined using: a) McDougall’s buffer, b) 0.02 N sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and c) 0.15 N sodium chloride (NaCl) as solvents, ranged from 11.6 to 14.9% of total N. In addition, the soluble non-protein nitrogen contributed a substantial part of total N (26.1%), the total true protein was 14.4% and the protein fractions evaluated after classical protein fractionation, were: albumins 11.1, globulins 9.7, prolamins 44.1, glutelins 8.5 and insoluble (or structural) proteins 26.6% of total N. In a digestibility trial, where mulberry leaves partially replaced lucerne hay and concentrates in wether sheep diets, there were no significant differences in dry matter, crude protein or crude fibre digestibility of the total diet. It was concluded that mulberry leaves have an appreciable potential as a protein source in sheep feeding.  相似文献

This study investigated the comparative susceptibility of indigenous Moo Laat and improved Large White/Landrace pig breeds to infection with classical swine fever virus (CSFV) under controlled conditions in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR). The Moo Laat (ML) and Large White/Landrace crossbreed (LWC) pigs were inoculated with a standard challenge strain designated Lao/Kham225 (infectivity titre of 102.75 TCID50/ml). The results demonstrated that both the native breed and an improved pig breed are fully susceptible to CSFV infection and the mortality rate is high. LWC pigs demonstrated lower (or shorter) survival times (50% survival time: 11 days), earlier and higher pyrexia and earlier onset of viraemia compared to ML pigs (50% survival time: 18 days). In the context of village-based pig production, the longer time from infection to death in native ML pigs means that incubating or early sick pigs are likely to be sold once an outbreak of CSF is recognized in a village. This increased longevity probably contributes to the maintenance and spread of disease in a population where generally the contact rate is low.  相似文献

Summary Experiments were conducted with a clone ofTrypanosoma congolense, IL 3580, which exhibited a low level of resistance to isometanidium chloride. Five cattle were treated intramuscularly with isometamidium chloride at a dose rate of 0·5mgkg−1 body weight (BW) and challenged 28 days later with 5Glossina morsitans centralis infected withT. congolense IL 3580. All 5 cattle and 15 untreated steers challenged on the same day became parasitaemic by day 15 post-infection. Thus, at a dose of 0·5 mg kg−1 BW, the prophylactic action of isometamidium chloride did not extend to 28 days following treatment. Subsequently, the 20 steers were divided into 4 groups of 5 animals each and treated with isometamidium chloride at one of the following dose rates; 0·5 or 1·0 mg kg−1 BW intramuscularly and 0·5 or 1·0 mg kg−1 BW intravenously (Groups A, B, C and D, respectively). Group A consisted of the 5 animals that had previously been treated with isometamidium chloride. Animals relapsed in all groups except those in Group B, treated intramuscularly with isometamidium chloride at a dose of 1·0 mg kg−1 BW. Four of the 5 animals in Group A, treated intramuscularly with isometamidium chloride at a dose of 0·5 mg kg−1 BW relapsed following a mean interval of 16 days post-treatment. Similarly, infections in all animals in Groups C and D, given intravenous injections of isometamidium chloride at a dose of 0·5 and 1·0mg kg−1 BW, respectively, were not eliminated as a result of treatment. The mean intervals to first detection of parasitaemia in these 2 groups following treatment were 14 and 20 days, respectively. The results therefore indicate that intravenous administration of isometamidium chloride does not enhance the drug’s therapeutic efficacy in the treatment of aT. congolense clone which expresses a low, but significant, level of resistance to isometamidium.
Resumen Se condujeron experimentos con un clon deTrypanosoma congolense IL 3580, que exhibió un bajo nivel de resistencia al cloruro de isometamido. Clinco animales fueron tratados vía intramuscular con cloruro de isometamidio a una dosis de 0·5mg kg−1 de peso vivo (PV). Posteriormente fueron enfrentados 28 días después con 5Glossina morsitans centralis infectadas conT. congolense IL 3580. Todos los infectados (n=5) y 15 novillos sin tratar infectados el mismo día, presentaron parasitèmia el día 15 pos-infección. Se desprende entonces, que la dosis de 0·5 mg kg−1 de PV de cloruro de isometamidio, no protegió más allá de 28 días. Subsecuentemente, los 20 novillos fueron divididos en 4 grupos de 5 animales cada uno, siendo tratados con cloruro de isometamidio, con una de las siguientes dosis: 0·5 ó 1·0 mg kg−1 de PV intramuscular y 0·5 ó 1·0 mg kg−1 vía intravenosa (Grupos A, B, C y D, respectivamente). El Grupo A consistió de 5 animales que habían sido tratados previamente con cloruro de isometamidio. Todos los animales recayeron, excepto aquellos del Grupo B, que habían sido tratados vía intramuscular, a una dosis de 1·0 mg kg−1 de PV. Cuatro de los 5 animales en Grupo A, tratados intramuscularmente con 0·5 mg kg−1 deisometamidio, recayeron 16 días promedio después del tratamiento. Similarmente, las infecciones en todos los animales de los grupos C y D, tratados vía intravenosa con dosis de 0·5 y 1·0 mg kg−1 de PV, respectivamente, no fueron eliminados como resultado del tratamiento. El promedio de intervalos para la detección de parasitémia en estos dos grupos después del tratamiento, fueron 14 y 20 días, respectivamente. Los resultados indican, que la administración de cloruro de isometamidio intravenoso, no aumenta la eficacia terapéutica de la droga en el tratamiento del clon deT. congolense, el cual expresa un bajo pero significativo nivel de resistencia al isometamidio.

Résumé Des expériences ont été conduites avec un clone deTrypanosoma congolense IL 3580, qui a montré un faible niveau de résistance au chlorure d’isométamidium. Cinq bovins ont été traités par voie intramusculaire avec ce médicament à la dose de 0,5mg/kg−1 de poids vif (PV) Ils ont été soumis 28 jours plus tard au contact de 5Glossina morsitans centralis infectées par Trypanosoma congolense IL 3580. Les cinq animaux en totalité, ainsi que 15 taurillons non traités soumis le même contact se sont révélés parasités au 15e jour de l’infection. Ainsi, à la dose de 0,5 mg Kg−1 PV, l’action prophylactique de chlorure d’isométamidium n’a pas duré jusqu’au 28 e jour suivant le traitement. En conséquence, les 20 taurillons ont été divisés en 4 groupes de 5 animaux chacun et traités au chlorure d’isométamidium avec l’une des doses suivantes: 0,5 ou 1,0 mg/kg−1/PV, par voie intramusculaire et 0,5 ou 1,0 mg/kg−1/PV par voie intraveineuse, constituant ainsi les groupes A, B, C et D respectivement. Le groupe A comprenait les 5 animaux précocement traités. Tous les animaux ont fait une rechute, excepté ceux du groupe B traités par voie intramusculaire avec le chlorure d’isométamidium à la dose de 1,0 mg/kg−1/PV. 4 des 5 animaux du groupe A, traités par la même voie mais à la dose de 0,5 mg kg−1/PV ont rechuté après un intervalle moyen de 16 jours suivant le traitement. De même chez tous les animaux des groupes C et D ayant respectivement re?u une injection intraveineuse aux doses de 0,5 et 1,0 mg/kg−1/PV, le traitement n’a pas éliminé l’infection. Les intervalles moyens pour la première détection de la parasitémie dans ces deux groupes ont été respectivement de 14 à 20 jours. De ces résultats, on peut déduire que l’injection intraveineuse du chlorure d’isométamidium n’accro?t pas l’efficacité thérapeutique du produit dans le traitement d’une trypanosomose due à un clone deTrypanosoma congolense qui exprime à un degré faible, mais significatif, sa résistance à ce médicament.

The effects of supplementation with nitrogenous compounds on intake, digestibility, and microbial protein synthesis in cattle fed low-quality tropical forage were assessed. Five rumen fistulated crossbred Holstein × Gir heifers were used, with initial average live weight of 180 ± 21 kg. Signal grass (Brachiaria decumbens) hay (48.6 g kg−1 of crude protein (CP), on a dry matter (DM) basis) was used as roughage. Five treatments were defined according to nitrogen supplementation level (0, 20, 40, 60, and 80 g of CP kg−1 above the CP level of the hay). A mixture of urea, ammonium sulfate, and albumin at the ratios of 4.5:0.5:1.0, respectively, was used as nitrogen source. The experiment consisted of five experimental periods, according to a 5 × 5 Latin square design. The average CP contents in the diets were 51.9, 71.1, 86.0, 116.7, and 130.2 g kg−1, on a DM basis. A quadratic effect was detected (P < 0.10) of the CP levels in the diets on DM and neutral detergent fiber intake (kg/day), with maximum response at the levels of 102.4 and 100.5 g CP kg−1 DM, respectively. The average daily concentration of rumen ammonia nitrogen showed increasing linear pattern (P < 0.01) as function of CP levels in the diet, with estimated value of 9.64 mg dL−1 equivalent to the maximum DM intake. Microbial nitrogen flow in the intestine was linearly and positively related (P < 0.01) with the CP levels in the diet.  相似文献
