Arsenic speciation in farmed Hungarian freshwater fish   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Arsenic speciation analysis was carried out on freshwater farmed fish collected from an area with elevated groundwater arsenic concentrations in Hungary as well as from outside of the area (control samples). The arsenic species were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry on methanol extracts of the muscle tissue from the fish. Catfish (Claries gariepinus) were raised in geothermal water where the average total arsenic concentrations were 167 (contaminated sites) and 15.1 ng As mL(-1) (control); they were all fed an artificial diet containing 2880 microg As kg(-1) total arsenic, mostly present as arsenobetaine. In the catfish, the accumulated total arsenic (2510-4720 microg As kg(-1)) was found mostly in the form of arsenobetaine suggesting that uptake of arsenic was dominated by their diet. Carp (Cyprinus carpio) were cultured in surface lakes with no significant arsenic pollution and had total arsenic concentrations ranging from 62 to 363 microg As kg(-1). The arsenic species found in the carp extracts differed markedly from those in the catfish in that no arsenobetaine was detected. Most samples of carp from the investigated sites contained low concentrations of As(III) (arsenite), As(V) (arsenate), MA (methylarsonate), and DMA (dimethylarsinate), and no other compounds were detected. The four individuals from the control site, however, all contained appreciable levels of oxo-arsenosugar-glycerol and oxo-arsenosugar-phosphate. Indeed, the oxo-arsenosugar-phosphate dominated the speciation pattern for these carp contributing about 75% of the sum of species. The contrast between these two freshwater aquaculture species regarding total arsenic and arsenic species has relevant toxicological aspects in terms of food safety.  相似文献

Construction of hydroelectric reservoirs in a certain large watershed of China has led to a marked rise in mercury concentration in fish. Correlation analysis and stepwise regression of R values (ratio of mercury concentration in carp from 12 reservoirs and mercury concentration in carp from rivers which feed into the reservoirs) and various hydrologic parameters demonstrate that the ratio of catchment area and runoff is the crucial determining factor. Other determining factors are the ratio of flooding area of land and reservoir area of dead storage capacity, and the reciprocal of reservoir area. On this basis, the predictive models of mercury accumulation in carp after reservoir construction, with one and two parameter, respectively, were obtained. 针对传统机器视觉技术对淡水鱼种类进行检测时特征提取过程复杂的问题,该研究提出了基于特征点检测的淡水鱼种类识别方法。以鳊、鳙、草鱼、鲢、鲤5种大宗淡水鱼为对象,构建了淡水鱼特征点检测数据集;以AlexNet模型为基础,通过减小卷积核尺寸、去除局部响应归一化、引入批量归一化、更换损失函数,构建了改进AlexNet模型用于特征点检测;并以特征点为依据提取特征值、构造特征向量,使用Fisher判别分析方法实现了淡水鱼的种类识别。试验结果表明:改进AlexNet模型在测试集上的归一化平均误差的均值为0.0099,阈值δ为0.02和0.03时的失败率F0.02F0.03分别为2.50%和0.83%,具有较好的精准度和误差分布情况;基于该模型和Fisher判别分析的淡水鱼种类识别方法对5种淡水鱼的识别准确率为98.0%,单幅图像的平均识别时间为0.368 s,保证了时效性。由此可知,提出的改进AlexNet模型能实现淡水鱼的特征点检测并具有较高的精度,可为淡水鱼种类识别、尺寸检测、鱼体分割等提供条件,该方法可为淡水鱼自动化分类装置的研发奠定基础。  相似文献

Urban and industrial activities are major sources of pollution to marine environments. Sediments can act as sink and reservoir for a wide range of contaminants, including heavy metals. Environmental quality assessment in this compartment can provide useful information to control pollution in coastal areas. Lately, implementation of Environmental Legislative Frameworks within the European Community is increasing awareness about the importance of marine sediment quality in order to achieve a ??Good Environmental Status.?? In this work, the study of superficial marine sediments allowed assessment of source and fate of heavy metals in a semi-enclosed deep embayment that is subjected to severe anthropogenic activities. Results indicated that accumulation of heavy metals takes place mainly in proximity to anthropogenic sources (industrial area and harbors), but pollution can also spread to greater depths affecting the whole ecosystem. Multivariate statistics helped identify source and fate of several elements, showing evidence of pollutants transfer from urban wastewaters, industrial effluents, and atmospheric emissions to marine sediments. Results provided useful information for the implementation and development of Environmental Management Strategies under European Legislative Frameworks.  相似文献

Prescribed or natural drawdowns occur frequently in reservoirs but their effects on fish populations have been barely studied. As a consequence of a severe drought and the need to optimize water quality, a partial drawdown was prescribed in autumn 2005 to a eutrophic reservoir that provides water supply to a large metropolitan area (Barcelona, Spain). In order to avoid a potential massive fish kill given the reduced oxygen availability and high fish abundance, preventive purse seine fisheries were performed to reduce the fish stock. The fisheries had little effect on the fish assemblage because final population size structure and species composition did not change significantly. The species composition of the purse seine catches varied significantly during the drawdown with higher proportion of bleak (Alburnus alburnus) in pelagic water during the days of worst water quality, confirming that bleak is more tolerant than roach (Rutilus rutilus) to poor water quality and a potential good indicator of water pollution. The weight–length relationship (i.e. condition) of roach and bleak also varied significantly during the drawdown following the same tendency in both species, losing and recovering their weight (4.99% in roach and 5.96% in bleak) in only 16 days. The close relationship found between water quality and fish condition demonstrates that fish condition can be a good metric of the well being of fish, even for extreme short-term changes.  相似文献

We studied the distribution of Hg in sediments, fish, and crayfish in a 60 km reach of the Upper Wisconsin River that formerly received Hg in discharges from pulp and paper mills. The most heavily contaminated strata of sediments were deposited during the 1950s and early 1960s and buried under subsequent deposits; however, surficial sediments remained substantially enriched at certain sites in 1981. Median concentrations of Hg in surficial sediments, adjusted for grain size, were at least 10-fold greater at the main study area than at an upstream reference site. Total concentrations exceeded 1.0 μg g?1 wet weight in axial muscle tissue in only 2 of 173 fish analyzed from the study area; however, historical comparisons revealed that Hg contamination of fish (common carp Cyprinus carpio and walleye Stizostedion vitreum vitreum) and crayfish (Orconectes) in the river had not decreased since the early 1970s. The availability of Hg to biota in this system may be enhanced by rapid methylation of the metal in surficial sediments, despite burial of the most heavily contaminated sediments. Management practices for this river should be designed to prevent conditions favoring mobilization and methylation of Hg in sediments.  相似文献

针对持久性有机污染物在水生生物体内易于积累的特性,利用气相色谱与质谱联用技术(GC-MS),检测了白洋淀8种鱼类体内多氯联苯(PCBs)含量,并分析了同系物组成特征。根据白洋淀鱼类检测到同系物情况,计算毒性当量(TEQ)并进行评价。白洋淀8种鱼类体内PCBs平均含量范围是55.85~1 485.74 ng.g-1脂肪重,从高到低的顺序依次为黄颡〉黄鳝〉乌鳢〉泥鳅〉鲤鱼〉鳙鱼〉鲫鱼〉鲇鱼。在8种鱼类PCB同系物组成中,四氯联苯和五氯联苯是主要的同系物,其相对百分含量为52.0%~84.3%。这种组成模式反映了白洋淀地区有多氯联苯工业品的使用历史。8种鱼类体内PCBs的毒性当量(TEQ)范围是0.09~1 412.87 pg TEQ.g-1脂肪重,其大小顺序依次为鳙鱼〉鲫鱼〉鲇鱼〉黄颡〉黄鳝〉鲤鱼〉乌鳢〉泥鳅。结果表明,白洋淀淀区部分鱼类已经受到PCBs一定程度的污染,应引起重视。  相似文献

Air pollution is a recognized health hazard for man and domestic animals. Although industrial air pollutants have been known to cause sickness and death of the latter for over 100 years, little attention has been paid to their importance in the decline of wildlife. This paper reviews the existing information on the effects of industrial air pollutants on vertebrate wildlife. Air pollutants have had a worldwide effect on both wild birds and wild mammals, often causing marked decreases in local animal populations. The major effects of industrial air pollution on wildlife include direct mortality, debilitating industrial-related injury and disease, physiological stress, anaemia, and bioaccumulation. Some air pollutants have caused a change in the distribution of certain wildlife species.  相似文献

The Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) resource of eastern Canada is impacted by acid rain in the Southern Upland (Atlantic Coast) area of Nova Scotia. Salmon runs in this area have become extinct in 14 rivers, are severely impacted in 20 rivers, and lightly impacted in 15 rivers. Water chemistry and fish communities in nine Southern Upland salmon rivers were studied from 1982 to 1996 as part of the effort to monitor the effects of the emission controlprograms in Canada and the United States. There hasbeen no statistically significant change in total ioncontent of Southern Upland river water, but there wasa significant decline in sulfate levels that was balanced by an increase in organic anions, and declines in calcium and magnesium that were balanced by increases in sodium and potassium. A geochemical scenario is proposed to account for these chemical changes. River water pH levels showed no overall linear trend, but at borderline toxicity sites the year-to-year variations in pH were correlated withchanges in juvenile salmon population densities. Tenfish species were collected, but none showed anysignificant overall time trend in population density.Fish species diversity was positively correlated with pH.  相似文献

The results of investigations carried out in the forests of Kola peninsula subject to long-term air pollution by the nickel industrial enterprises are presented. Samples of rainwater from the open sites, from under the coniferous (pine) trees crowns and of the stemflow were collected at various distances from the emission sources. The highest levels in pollution of rainwater are detected over the area adjacent to the smelters. Researches of contamination of the precipitation in the vicinity of the two nickel enterprises of Kola peninsula show that concentrations of pollutants vary significantly (up to an order of magnitude) depending upon the meteorological conditions. The area of impact on forests of Kola peninsula is restricted by the radius of 30–40 km from the emission sources.  相似文献

Identifying the factors responsible for the diversity of responses of biota to industrial pollution is crucial for predicting the fates of polluted ecosystems. A meta-analysis based on 49 field studies conducted around 47 point polluters demonstrated that the individual (growth and reproduction) and community (abundance and species richness) characteristics of bryophytes in polluted habitats are reduced to about a half of the values observed in unpolluted sites. Non-ferrous smelters cause a stronger reduction in species richness and larger changes in species composition than other types of polluters. The magnitudes of the effects of pollution on the abundances of individual bryophyte species are not linked with their taxonomic position, life form or Ellenberg indicator values for light, moisture and nitrogen. The variation in species?? responses to pollution is mostly explained by differences in their reproductive characteristics; bryophyte species that possess special forms of vegetative reproduction and those that produce abundant sporophytes are more successful in polluted habitats. Ranking of bryophyte species according to their sensitivity to pollution is independent of the type of the polluter. Changes in bryophyte cover follow changes in tree cover, but not changes in the cover of the vascular field layer in the same pollution gradients. Pollution impacts cause stronger adverse effects on bryophytes in warmer climates.  相似文献

Fluvial sediments can act as archives for long-term pollution. However, in environmental studies, often only preselected contaminants and, therefore, only a limited part of the pollution are considered. Herein, geochemical investigations of riverbank samples of the Wurm River (catchment <?400 km2) depict the anthropogenic impact of the city Aachen (250,000 inhabitants) to its main outlet resulting in an exhaustive list of present pollutants including their concentrations. The study is based on 14 riverbank sediment samples at eight sampling sites on a 7.6-km-long segment of the Wurm River. The sediment samples were analyzed for grain size composition (laser diffraction particle size analyzer), total organic carbon (TOC), trace element inventory (X-ray fluorescence), and organic compounds (chromatography-mass spectrometry). Here, we report quantitative data for 71 persistent organic substances as well as six trace elements (Cu, Zn, As, Ba, Hg, and Pb) entering the Wurm River due to domestic and industrial emissions. In general, a slight decline of, e.g., PTEs, DDX, and PCB concentrations with decreasing sampling depth points to a steady improvement of conditions. Whereas no clear trends can be seen for organic pollutants along the investigated reach with increasing distance to the main source of pollution (Aachen city). As obtained concentrations for organic pollutants indicate a rather low level of pollution, trace element values exceed geogenic background values by far. Furthermore, we used selected compounds as time markers for a rough estimation of sedimentation rates. Obtained values point to a highly complex morphodynamic regime with changing sedimentation rates (0.6 to 3.0 cm a?1) within barely 100 m of river course.  相似文献

In the late 1980s, citrus plantations in the area of Villarreal (Spain) showed injuries similar to those previously reported for boron and fluorine toxicity. The area was affected by the disposal of industrial wastewater, mainly from ceramic industries. Conjunctive uses of surface water, groundwater and wastewater for irrigation had taken place. A survey was conducted at 25 orchards to assess leaves and soil for their boron, fluorine, lead, nickel and zinc contents. Wastewater and groundwater were also analyzed to corroborate the presence of these pollutants. The results showed that both boron and fluorine contents were greater than those reported as excess at the most part of the orchards included in the study. Heavy metals toxicity effects were not confirmed. Boron pollution was attributed to industrial wastewater spills and fluorine contamination from atmospheric pollution.  相似文献

Plants tolerant to polluted environments were selected, based on several criteria, to restore a coastal forest ecosystem severely damaged by air pollutants discharged from an industrial complex. In addition, a restoration plan was prepared synthesizing these results and the diagnostic ecological indicators in the area for which restoration is required. Pollution-tolerant plants of 11 tree and subtree species, 10 herb species and one shrub species were selected from field surveys in the vicinity of two representative industrial complexes in Korea, Ulsan and Yeocheon. Nine species were selected for tolerance to SO2 fumigation and six species were selected for tolerance to Al3+. Growth and photosynthetic responses of sample plants transplanted into polluted and unpolluted sites showed that 15 species out of the 26 sample plants showed a disposition for tolerance. Most of these are endemic plants and they are composed of diverse species in structure and function. This result implies that these tolerant species could play important roles in the restoration of the study area, which has several specific features. On the other hand, results from transplant tests indicate that a field survey is the most reasonable method for selection of tolerant plants to restore a pollution-damaged ecosystem, as was shown in another restoration program. Results of ecological analysis on vegetation map indicate that the spatial range within the first ridge is the sector for which restoration is required. This sector was classified into four zones on the basis of topographic conditions: lower and upper slopes of both slopes facing and opposite the pollution source. Guidelines for soil amelioration and arrangement of tolerant plants were prepared considering the degree of vegetation degradation, leaf damage of major plant species and soil pollution in each zone under the restoration plan.  相似文献

One of the aims of the Water Framework Directive 2000/60/CE is to assess the ecological status of water bodies in Europe in relation to priority contaminants, including some persistent organic pollutants (POPs). Recognizing the benefits of measuring hydrophobic compounds in biota tissues rather than in water, we used the European eel Anguilla anguilla in the present study as a bioindicator species for monitoring POPs in freshwater/brackish environments. We present the results of a contamination analysis of eels carried out in three Italian sites representative of different pollution levels: the last part of Tevere River, which flows through a very urbanized and industrialized area, Caprolace Lake and Lesina Lagoon, inside two different protected national parks. A very high pollution variability was recorded within each group of eels, in particular for those caught at Caprolace Lake. Due to this high variability, inter-population comparisons were carried out only between eels collected in Tevere River and Lesina Lagoon. PCBs values in Lesina Lagoon were two orders of magnitude lower than those measured in Tevere River, while no significant differences were found for levels of DDT compounds. Our results confirm the suitability of the eel as an indicator of persistent bioaccumulative pollutants in brackish environments and rivers where it can be easily caught, but we are sceptical of its use in deep lakes where its capture might be problematic considering standard operation procedures for fish sampling.  相似文献

The Chesapeake Bay is one of the largest and most productive estuaries in the United States. The fish and shellfish harvest in 1979 totaled 284.5 × 106 kg. Although historical measures of stock size are less than optimum, commercial landings and indices of reproductive success indicate declines in several species of anadromous and semi-anadromous finfish. Causes for the declines may be due to point and non-point sources of water pollution, acid deposition or overfishing. The EPA Chesapeake Bay Study identified a number of major environmental problems in the Bay but the exact linkages between environmental problems and fish stocks have not been made.  相似文献

[目的]探讨南水北调中线工程运行后丹江口库区水环境变化影响因素及其防控对策,为削弱库区污染负荷,确保库区水质安全提供参考。[方法]以丹江口水库周围及上游流域为研究区域,采用前后对比分析法,分析水环境变化特征及其主要影响因素,从而提出保护改善水环境的对策。[结果]水库大坝蓄水后丹江库区水质总体良好但空间差异显著,部分入库支流和库湾局部污染较为严重,氮、磷和重金属元素含量较高。[结论]丹江口库周局部地区水土流失、农村点源污染、农业面源污染及人类活动是影响库区水质的主要原因。针对库区存在的生态环境问题,提出了继续稳定实施退耕还林/还草政策,优化农村产业结构,加强工矿企业排污监管,优化监控站点并加强居民环保意识的保护对策和建议。  相似文献

通过连续的野外试验,对北京市重要水源地密云水库水源区曹家路流域的土壤理化特征、面源污染产汇污机制、污染物迁移转化特征等进行了初步分析和研究。研究内容包括:不同土壤类型的理化特征及养分含量随深度的变化规律;一场短时暴雨水文情形下,各面源污染特征指标的变化规律及产汇污机制;不同土地覆盖条件下,流域内各子河段面源污染的变化特征。最后,针对该研究区域面源污染特征,提出了污染物削减及控制的相关对策。  相似文献

探究长潭水库库区沉积物中碳(C)、氮(N)、磷(P)含量特征及其污染状况,可为区域水环境质量提升提供理论依据。研究于2021年9月在水库中心区及8条入库支流断面设置28个采样点,对表层沉积物中的总有机碳(TOC)、总氮(TN)、总磷(TP)含量进行测定,并采用单因子指数法、综合污染指数法和有机污染指数法对库区污染状况进行了评价。结果表明:库区表层沉积物中TOC,TN和TP含量分别为(13.67±3.81) g/kg,(1.46±0.37) g/kg,(0.43±0.17) g/kg;其中,以柔极溪(RJR)含量较高,其TOC含量显著高于库中心区与其余入库支流(p<0.05)。表层沉积物中C/N,C/P,N/P比值范围分别为7.72~15.07,15.28~63.20,1.66~6.26。由单因子指数法和综合污染指数法分析可知,整个库区水体沉积物TN污染严重,基本属于重度污染;有机氮评价结果进一步表明库区整体处于Ⅲ级污染水平(尚清洁),其中以库中心区和RJR污染较重,存在有机氮污染(等级为Ⅳ级)。长潭水库存在一定的内源污染,且以有机污染为主。未来应加强库区水体沉积物营养盐含量动态的...  相似文献

Based on an ecosystematic approach within the comprehensive SANA (Regeneration of the atmosphere above the new federal states) -project the influence of industrial air pollutants (SO2, NOx, alkaline fly ashes) on the vitality of mycorrhizae, mycorrhizal frequency, and on parameters of root growth such as root biomass and necromass and distribution of different root classes in the soil horizons was investigated. The studies were conducted in three comparable Scots pine ecosystems in eastern Germany which were exposed to different deposition loads of air pollutants during the time of the former German Democratic Republic. Site specific differences were obtained for all parameters investigated. The reference plot Neuglobsow (background deposition) revealed the highest number of vital mycorrhizae, highest mycorrhizal frequency, and largest biomass of finest roots in the humus layer. At the impact-sites Roesa and Taura (heavy and moderate deposition) located near Halle/Bitterfeld and Leipzig, the number of vital mycorrhizae was reduced and the life-span of mycorrhizae of reduced vitality was elongated. Finest root biomass and necromass of the humus layer were also lower at these plots as compared to Neuglobsow. At Neuglobsow a higher turnover of mycorrhizae and finest roots of the humus layer is assumed. The reduced growth of mycorrhizal and non-mycorrhizal finest roots at the two pollution impacted sites Roesa and Taura is seen as an adaptation mechanism of the root system to high nutrient inputs.  相似文献
