A large percentage of winter and spring potatoes (Solanum tuberosum, L.) grown in the USA is produced in northeast Florida (NEF) on sandy soils with low cation exchange capacity. Maintaining adequate K nutrition is a major concern. A study was conducted on an Elzey fine sand (sandy, siliceous, hyperthermic Typic Humaquept) in NEF to relate yield and leaf K to soil and fertilizer K levels. In 1981, Mehlich-I soil K in the 0–15 cm depth averaged 73 mg/kg. Yields of 35 t/ha were obtained without any K fertilization and no response to K sidedressed at rates up to 70 kg/ha was obtained. In the following three years, soil K prior to fertilization was < 40 mg/kg. In 1982 and 1983, significant differences in yield were obtained as a result of K fertilization at planting at rates up to 186 kg/ha. In 1984, no yield differences were obtained with K fertilizer rates ranging from 94 to 280 kg/ha. Differences in maximum tuber yields from year to year were related to the number of growing-degree days accumulated between planting and harvest. Yield-leaf K relationships for leaf samples taken late in the season showed that the critical leaf K concentration for 35 t/ha yields was no more than about 20 g/kg; that for yields approaching 40 t/ha was no more than about 45 g/kg. The results of this study indicated that current K fertilizer recommendations are higher than necessary for the yields being obtained by most NEF potato growers.  相似文献

Aldicarb applied as Temik 10% or 15% granular at 1.68, 2.24 or 3.36 kg/ha active ingredient (a.i.) in the row at planting reduced the size of populations ofPratylenchus penetrons in experimental plots and commercial fields. Both aldicarb and the soil fumigant, Telone-II, were associated with yield increases of about 40% in Superior and Sebago potatoes in experimental plots in 1978, but there were no significant increases in yield in 1979 and 1980. A comparison was made between areas treated with aldicarb 10% granular at 2.24 kg/ha a.i. or disulfoton 15% granular at 3.36 kg/ha a.i. in 24 commercial fields. Average yields from the combined results of Kennebec, Superior, Sebago, and Russet Burbank cultivars were about 13% higher in the aldicarb treatments. Yields in six fields where aldicarb was applied at 3.36 kg/ha a.i. were not different from yields in adjacent fields treated with the lower rate of aldicarb. Superior potatoes inoculated withP. penetrons, or uninoculated, were grown in pots in the greenhouse in fine sandy loam at moisture levels of 35–55% or 70–100% field capacity. The lower soil moisture level and the nematode treatment reduced tuber weights. The nematode-soil moisture interaction was significant in one of the two experiments.  相似文献

Antitranspirants (AT) were applied to greenhouse, field research plots and commercial plantings of Norgold Russet potato plants. In the greenhouse AT (Folicote and Vapor Gard) reduced water uptake by plants by 20–40%. In field trials at the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, Halfway, similar concentrations increased yield of Norgold Russet potatoes by 21–45 cwts per acre (2352–5040 kg/ha). In a commercial trial on 20 acres of potatoes, 2% Folicote applied 5 and 3 weeks prior to vine kill increased total yield by 47 cwts per acre (5264 kg/ha) and increased yield of premium grade potatoes by 100%. Gross crop value at harvest was increased $500 per acre ($1125/ha). Significantly higher soil moisture levels existed in soils of treated plots between irrigations.  相似文献

Row fumigation with Vorlex at 3 and 7 gallons per acre was applied for meadow nematode (Pratylenchus penetrans) control in potatoes. The material was applied 3 weeks before planting using one chisel per row at a depth of 8″, and ridged. The treatments resulted in a reduction in population ofP. penetrans in the soil and in the potato roots. On a soil with a relatively high population of meadow nematodes, row application of Vorlex at 3 and 7 gal per acre resulted in a yield increase of 10 and 14% respectively, and a lower incidence of tubers with vascular discoloration. By early October as many nematodes were present in treated rows as in untreated rows. Row fumigation is of value for only one potato crop.  相似文献

Summary A crop rotation experiment was carried out on a light sandy soil in 1979–1986 to study the effects of the frequency of potato cropping on yield, quality and on the occurrence of soil-borne pathogens other than potato cyst nematodes. Tuber yield decreased markedly with increasing cropping frequency, but also depended on what crops were grown in rotation with potato. Growth during the early part of the season, as well as the length of the growing period, were reduced in short rotations. The fungiVerticillium dahliae andRhizoctonia solani, and root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.) were the most important yield reducing pathogens. The effects of rotation depended on the cultivar used. The percentage of mis-shapen tubers increased with increasing cropping frequency and after application of granular nematicides, but the incidence of common scab (Streptomyces scabies) was not affected.  相似文献

研究秸秆还田对土壤pH值、EC值、土壤腐解的影响及秸秆还田土壤腐解液对玉米纹枯病菌的影响。研究表明,随着玉米秸秆还田量的增加,土壤pH值降低,EC值升高。随着玉米秸秆3个处理(9 000、4 500、2 250 kg/hm2)还田量下降,秸秆纤维素腐解率升高,分别为54.4%、67.4%、83.9%。秸秆倍量还田(18 000 kg/hm2)土壤腐解液浓度(0.041 g/mL)对玉米纹枯病菌有抑制作用,全量(9 000 kg/hm2)、1/2量(4 500 kg/hm2)、1/4量(2 250 kg/hm2)秸秆还田的土壤腐解液对病菌有促进作用。秸秆还田玉米纹枯病病害流行田间调查表明,病情指数为秸秆还田量9 000 kg/hm24 500 kg/hm22 250 kg/hm2不还田处理。  相似文献

Summary Various methods of screening for resistance to root-knot nematodes were compared and evaluated. Seedling populations ofSolanum spp., grown in clay pots and plastic tubes with silver sand and inoculated with juveniles ofMeloidogyne chitwoodi andM. hapla, showed large differences in the number of egg masses on roots 7 weeks after inoculation. The differences were reproducible when re-testing was done with cuttings and plants from tubers. No resistance toMeloidogyne spp. was observed with ten potato cultivars when grown in clay pots, plastic tobes or closed containers. Plants from tubers in growth pouches developed a large two-dimensional root system, and after inoculation with juveniles the infection process could be observed over 8 weeks. A method of infecting potato tuber tissue withMeloidogyne is described, using tuber slices in Petri dishes as a potential screening test for tuber resistance.  相似文献

Resown S23 perennial ryegrass pastures showed considerably greater response to the application of fertilizer N (0·1075 kg N/ha per year = 0–960 Ib N/ac) at 305 m O.D. than the native Festuca ovina/Agrostis tenuis and Molinia caerulea dominant communities on identical brown earth and peaty gley soils. Ryegrass DM production during 1967–70 increased with N application rates up to 538 kg N/ha per year (480 Ib N/ac) on the acid-brown earth, while on the extremely N-deficient gley soil yield responses were recorded up to 1075 kg N/ha (960 Ib N/ac). Percentage N recovery by ryegrass, bowever, although improved by grazing and re circulation, was less than under lowland conditions and the response to N during the growing season was also lower, exceeding 20 kg DM/kg N from applications in May, June and July only. The recovery of N by Festuca/Agrostis and Molinia in 1968–70 ranged from 3% and 2% at 938 kg N/ha to 14% and 9% at 117 kg N/ba per year, respectively. The respective maximum average DM yields recorded were 29 t/ha and 2.2 t/ha from the native communities and 70 t/ha and 62 t/ha from the corresponding resown pastures (2610, 1950, 6250 and 5520 Ib/ac). The results are discussed in relation to the strategy of land improvement in upland areas.  相似文献

 自1997年早稻开始,在浙江省金华市农业科学研究所试验区稻田设立了监测水稻土生产力及肥力变化的长期肥料定位试验,并在试验区周围10 km范围内选择了21户农民的稻田进行相应的监测试验。试验区内农户间稻田土壤的养分供应能力相差很大,氮供应能力变化于49~116 kg/hm2,磷供应能力变化于13~32 kg/hm2,钾供应能力变化于68~183 kg/hm2。农民常规施肥区的氮肥利用效率很低,氮表观回收率的平均值为14%~26%,氮肥农业效率平均值为4.6~8.2,且农户之间、早晚稻之间均存在较大差异。肥料定位试验结果表明,在连续种植水稻条件下,缺肥区土壤相应的有效养分消耗很快。与NPK全肥区比较,NP区从第2季水稻起,NK区从第3季水稻起,即开始出现减产。针对当地农民现行养分管理的实际情况,就水稻系统发展适地养分综合管理新技术进行了讨论。  相似文献

The sugarcane borer, Diatraea saccharalis (F.) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae), is the key insect pest of sugarcane, Saccharum spp., grown in Louisiana. For more than 40 years, Louisiana sugarcane farmers have used a value of 10% internodes bored at harvest as the economic injury level (EIL). Three plant-cane studies were conducted to re-evaluate the long-standing sugarcane borer EIL level using the most recently released varieties of sugarcane. Varieties were exposed to artificially enhanced borer infestations; the experimental treatments consisted of borer control with insecticides or no control. Data were collected on infestation intensity, damage intensity, and associated yield losses. Crop yields from plots were obtained by mechanical harvesting, and losses were classified as field losses, e.g. losses of gross tonnage in the field and factory losses, e.g., losses that were realized at the factory as cane is being milled. Farm income is based on the product of these two measures of yield, i.e. cane yield×sugar yield. In our study, seasonal stalk-infestation counts did not reveal any indication of preference by the borer moths for a specific variety; infestation pressure was generally uniform within a season among the varieties that we planted. Significant differences were detected among the varieties for harvest percentage of internodes bored as well as yields between borer-controlled and non-controlled plots (P<0.05). In general, varieties were less susceptible to losses in the field (sugarcane yields) than in the factory (sugar yields). As a group, the most recent varieties released to Louisiana growers exhibit more tolerance to the borer than varieties grown 40 years ago. The percent reduction in sugar/ha loss per 1% internodes bored has decreased from an average of 0.74 for varieties grown in the 1960s to 0.61 as a mean for the newly released varieties. Although the cost associated with an insecticide application for sugarcane borer control has increased nearly 4-fold from 1971 to present, sugar yields have increased by approximately 60% allowing farmers to offset some of these increased costs. Our economic analysis indicates that the EIL of 10% internodes bored is too high, considering the high yielding potential and susceptibility of currently grown varieties. For the most at risk farmer, the tenant farmer, a more appropriate value for the EIL is 6% internodes bored. However, this EIL can be raised 12% if a resistant variety is grown.  相似文献

Pratylenchus penetrans andP. crenatus were the dominant plantparasitic nematodes in potato roots and soil in Prince Edward Island. No nematodes were recovered from potato tubers. Forage legumes and grasses grown in rotation with potatoes also harbored large populations of root lesion nematodes. The amount of water moving through the stems of potato plants infected withP. penetrans in the greenhouse generally was less than in nematode-free plants;P. crenatus did not produce this effect. Telone-II, Telone-C-17, and Temik reduced the number of nematodes substantially in field plots. Yields of Superiors, Kennebecs, Sebagos and Netted Gems in nematicide-treated plots were not significantly greater than in untreated plots. There was a small but significant reduction in the specific gravity of tubers in the Telone-treated plots.  相似文献

Potato experiments (cv. Kennebec) were conducted in three tropical soil families as part of a program to determine crop production potential and land capabilities of a network of tropical soil families. Good tuber yields resulted from matching the requirements of the potato crop to land characteristics. An average yield of 32,000 kg/ha was obtained in the thixotropic, isothermic soil family of Hydric Dystrandepts in Hawaii. The results of this study indicate that with optimum plant protection year-round potato production is possible in this family of Hydric Dystrandepts under rainfed conditions. Yields of irrigated plots in the clayey, kaolinitic, isohyperthermic soil family of Tropeptic Eutrustox were 36,000 kg/ha in the winter and 25,000 kg/ ha in the summer. The results indicate that winter temperatures are nearly isothermic, and are thus suitable for potato production, in an isohyperthermic Tropeptic Eutrustox of Hawaii. No yields were obtained from plantings in the clayey, kaolinitic, isohyperthermic soil family of Typic Paleudults in Indonesia and the Philippines. Tuberization did not occur in the warm and moist environment of the Typic Paleudults. Mismatch between the temperature requirements of the potato crop and the soil temperature regime of Typic Paleudults resulted in no potatoes.  相似文献

Summary Soil solarization by mulching with polyethylene for 60 days during summer in Tunisia, was effective in reducing dramatically to a depth of 30 cm inoculum levels ofFusarium solani (Fs) from 3,000 to 450 propagules gram−1 of dry soil. Population densities ofPythium aphanidermatum (Pa) were reduced from 1,700 and 3,000 to 0.5 and 1 propagule gram−1 of dry soil in the top 15 cm and at 1–30 cm depth, respectively. After a subsequent autumn potato crop, populations ofPa remained very low in the previously solarized soil whereas propagule density in non-solarized soils was similar to the initial density. Also, inoculum level ofFs increased by 40% in nonsolarized soils while it remained unchanged in solarized soils, suggesting microbial processes that prevented soil reinfestation. All the annual weeds were eradicated by solar heating but not the perennial weedConvolvulus arvensis. Potato plant growth and yields were improved in solarized plots.  相似文献

Maximum yields of potato tubers for growing conditions in the Columbia Basin, Washington, USA were estimated using two methods. The first was based on experimental data from a large number of experiments conducted each year from 1959 through 1973 with Russet Burbank potatoes. The highest yielding plots each year were selected, and boundary analysis was used to determine the relationship between growing season length and maximum yield. Maximum yield was found to be related to growing season length by Y = D - 36 where Y is tuber yield in t/ha and D is days since planting. The second method was based on a model which assumes that dry matter production of a crop is proportional to intercepted radiation. This model has been validated for Scottish growing conditions. The solar radiation conversion efficiency for Russet Burbank potatoes under Columbia Basin conditions was found to be 1.35 g/MJ, using boundary analysis. The model gave better agreement between predicted and measured boundary values than did the simpler model based only on growing season length. Agreement was better, particularly at the end of the growing season when days were shorter and cooler than in the summer. Maximum measured yield was 124 t/ha. The simple model predicted maximum yields around 160 t/ha, while the MW model predicted maximum values around 140 t/ha.  相似文献

Summary Microtuber and minitubers of cv. Monalisa were produced in the laboratory and compared with normal seed tubers in a field experiment. These tubers were planted at similar plant densities (13.6 sprouts per m2) with two distances between rows (60 and 90 cm). Final ground cover was almost complete only in the plots derived from normal tubers and decreased with the size of the mother tubers. Normal seed, mini- and microtubers yielded respectively 50.8, 31.7, and 17.0 t/ha (means of two spacings). At close and wide spacing between rows, microtubers yielded respectively 27.3 and 6.7 t/ha, and minitubers 38.9 to 24.4 t/ha. Row spacing did not influence the yields from normal seed tubers. Total number of tubers per m2 was also affected and, as means of the two spacings, ranged from 107.8 with microtubers, 122.1 with minitubers, to 142.9 with normal tubers. Mother tuber type also affected the yield distribution in three tuber grades (<36, 36–55, and 55–80 mm) and micro and minitubers produced many small tubers. Multiplication rates and the possible use of different propagation sources are discussed.  相似文献

Summary Similar amounts of metalaxyl were deposited onto potato leaves on the middle and lower parts of the stem by different tractor-mounted sprayers, but much more was deposited onto apical leaves by an electrostatic sprayer. Late blight spread into plots from inoculated guard plants but was controlled by Fubol (metalaxyl+mancozeb) at least as well when applied electrostatically (4.4 or 91/ha) as hydraulically (200l/ha).  相似文献

为了制定砜嘧磺隆在马铃薯生产中的安全使用标准,采用田间试验的方法,研究砜嘧磺隆在马铃薯中的残留动态,应用液相色谱法测定砜嘧磺隆在马铃薯中的残留量。试验结果表明:砜嘧磺隆在马铃薯植株和土壤中降解符合一级化学反应动力学方程C=C0e-kt,砜嘧磺隆在土壤中半衰期为(0.02~3.10 d),在植株中的半衰期为(0.93~2.90 d)。该药属易分解农药(T1/2<30 d)。在马铃薯4叶期时喷药1次,按推荐剂量90 g/hm2及1.5倍剂量135 g/hm2施用25%可湿性粉剂砜嘧磺隆。在收获期马铃薯植株和块茎均未检测出,在马铃薯上的砜嘧磺隆安全使用量推荐为90 g/hm2,建议马铃薯上砜嘧磺隆最大残留限量值MRL暂定为0.1 mg/kg。  相似文献

Summary Soil in a potato field naturally infested with black dot (Colletotrichum coccodes) was fumigated with methyl bromide at 126 g m−2 or left unfumigated. Potato seed tubers (cv. BP1) uninfected, lightly infected (1–25% surface affected), severely infected (26–100% surface affected) and severely infected withC. coccodes but dusted with prochloraz manganese chloride as Octave 2.5% DP at 750 g per 100 kg seed were planted in fumigated and unfumigated soil. When harvested, the incidence of black dot on the progeny of infected seed planted in unfumigated soil was twice that of progeny in fumigated soil, with progeny of uninfected seed having a 68.5 times higher disease incidence in unfumigated soil. Black dot on progeny tubers was reduced by pre-treatment of seed with prochloraz in fumigated soil only. With black dot infested fields, planting disease-free seed or treating seed with fungicides would not decrease disease on progeny tubers.  相似文献

Growing potatoes from cuttings for seed and table potato production has great potential in Asia. There is limited information available explaining the agronomic methodology of growing cuttings in the field. This research was conducted to assess the importance of 4 management variables on the growth and tuber yield of cuttings. Three planting systems were evaluated with and without hilling. Only hilling significantly improved yields and increased tuber number per plant by 50%. Hilling also reduced tuber greening. Increasing plant population from 40,000 to 100,000 per hectare resulted in a yield increase of at least 50%, however average tuber size decreased. Pruning of the apical shoot at or after transplanting did not improve branching, canopy cover or tuber yield. Yields from cuttings were equal to or greater than the tuber seed grown control treatments. Yields ranged from 15 to 20 t/ha which is acceptable for the warm growing conditions. These results show the potential of using cuttings in commercial growing of potatoes in the warm tropics where tuber seed is difficult to obtain and maintain.  相似文献

The efficacy of metam sodium (MS) for controlling Verticillium wilt of potato was evaluated in two field experiments conducted in a sandy soil, heavily infested withVerticillium dahliae, and previously treated with MS. Compared to control plots where AUDPC value was 3141 (in 1999) and stem infection was 71.2% (in 2000), in plots treated with 600 L MS/ha AUDPC values were reduced by 57% to 80%, and stem infection was reduced by 49–54%. The incidence of infected dry stems, evaluated at the end of each season, was significantly reduced by all MS treatments, especially by 900 L/ha applied to a 60-cm depth (1999). Disease incidence in daughter tubers was also significantly reduced by all MS treatments. Yields obtained with 600 L/ha MS applied to a 30-cm depth were 32% and 21% higher than in the control in 1999 and 2000, respectively. In plots treated with 600 L/ha MS applied to a 60-cm depth yields were 17% and 28% higher than in the control in 1999 and 2000, respectively. With 900 L/ha MS applied to a 60-cm depth, yield was 21% higher than in the control in 1999. The yield of the low MS dose (300 L/ha), applied only in 2000, was not significantly different from the control. The differences in yield were due to the greater percentage of tubers larger than 45 mm. Yield reduction was highly correlated with disease severity expressed as AUDPC (in 1999 experiment). The net income in the 600 L MS/ha treatments was higher than in the control in both experiments. No indication of enhanced biodegradation was observed in the present study.  相似文献
