The present study was aimed to examine lipid peroxides, antioxidants, zinc, copper, iron panels and apoptosis in peripheral blood of dogs with clinical dirofilariosis. In comparison to healthy control, erythrocytic lipid peroxides level and superoxide dismutase activity were significantly (P<0.01) higher in diseased dogs. However, level of reduced glutathione and activities of glutathione peroxidase, glutathione-S-transferase and catalase were significantly (P<0.01) lower in diseased dogs. Blood zinc, copper and iron levels in dogs with dirofilariosis were significantly (P<0.01) lower than the healthy control. The percent apoptotic peripheral leukocytes were significantly higher in dogs with dirofilariosis in comparison with healthy control. From the present study, it is concluded that significant alterations in oxidant/antioxidant balance, mineral status and rate of apoptosis in peripheral blood may be implicated in the pathogenesis of clinical canine dirofilariosis.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To optimize methods used to measure coagulation factor activities in canine plasma, define reference ranges in dogs, and compare activities between canine and human plasma. SAMPLE POPULATION: Human plasma samples (n = 5) and plasma from healthy dogs (140) and dogs with low factor V activity (7), high factor V activity (7), and low factor VIII:C activity (6). PROCEDURE: Coagulometric tests incorporated human plasma deficient in a single coagulation factor (human deficient plasma). Standard curves were generated with pooled plasma from 100 healthy dogs. Effect of sample dilution was evaluated, using plasma from dogs with high or low factor V activity and low factor VIII:C activity. Reference ranges for healthy dogs were established. Activities in human plasma were determined by comparison with standard curves obtained with canine plasma. RESULTS: Activities of factors V and VIII:C in samples diluted < or = 1:20 influenced results of tests for other coagulation factors. Activities of factors V and VIII:C in human plasma were significantly less than in canine plasma. For the other coagulation factors, significant differences in human plasma-to-canine plasma activity ratios were detected among different sample dilutions. CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Accurate measurement of coagulation factor activities in canine plasma, using human deficient plasma, requires higher sample dilutions (ie, > 1:20) than typically used for human plasma. Differences in activities between human and canine plasma and nonparallelism of the standard curves emphasize the necessity for use of species-specific standard curves for accurate determination of coagulation factor activity.  相似文献

In dogs, the differentiation between haemolytic and cholestatic hepatobiliary diseases cannot be achieved by measuring of the unconjugated:conjugated bilirubin ratio, which is in contrast with generally held clinical concepts. The overlap of the bilirubin ratios between the two groups of icterus-generating diseases might in part be explained by deconjugation of conjugated bilirubin. Enzymatic cleavage by hepatic beta-glucuronidase might result in higher unconjugated bilirubin (UCB) fractions in cholestatic disease. The influence of deconjugation of bilirubins by beta-glucuronidase was investigated in 25 healthy dogs and 35 dogs with spontaneous hyperbilirubinemia due to either hepatobiliary or haemolytic disease. UCB and its mono- and diconjugates were measured by alkaline methanolysis and HPLC in plasma and liver tissue. The activity of beta-glucuronidase was also measured in both liver and plasma. In addition, semiquantitative histochemical quantitation of bilirubins in liver tissue was performed. The concentration and the fraction of UCB in plasma of dogs with hepatobiliary disease were not significantly different from those of dogs with autoimmune haemolytic anaemia. There was a correlation between the fraction of UCB in liver and plasma of jaundiced dogs (r = 0.42, P less than 0.01) and between the histochemically estimated and the biochemically measured total bilirubin concentration in liver tissue. There was no correlation between the beta-glucuronidase activity and either unconjugated or monoconjugated bilirubin in plasma or liver of diseased animals. The fraction and the concentration of UCB in the liver of dogs with hepatic and with haemolytic disease were identical. It is concluded that beta-glucuronidase activity is not the significant factor in explaining the similar levels and fractions of UCB in dogs with hyperbilirubinemia due to either hepatobiliary or haemolytic disease.  相似文献

The kinetics of superoxide anion production in polymorphonuclear leukocytes of bronchopneumonic calves, as well as superoxide dismutase and lipoprotein lipase activities in the blood plasma of these animals were studied. Granulocytes of bronchopneumonic calves were found to produce 10 times as much O2- radicals as those of healthy animals. Superoxide dismutase and lipoprotein lipase activities were lower in the plasma of bronchopneumonic calves. Escherichia coli endotoxin was found to stimulate superoxide anion production in polymorphonuclear leukocytes in a dose-dependent manner. These facts suggest that an endogenous mediator, probably cachectin or some other monokine(s), plays a role in granulocyte activation during calf bronchopneumonia.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine the presence of reactive oxygen species (ROS), especially superoxide anion (O2-), in fresh and frozen-thawed canine semen, its effect on other seminal parameters and whether the freezing-thawing process influences the O2- production rate. A total of 56 mature male domestic dogs were used in this study. Their semen was examined before and after freezing-thawing process. Sperm motility, hypo-osmotic swelling, sperm morphology and O2- extracellular production were measured. The dogs were divided in two groups, with the criterion of the absence or presence of O2- in fresh semen (groups A and B, respectively). Values of group A were compared with the respective values of group B. A significant decrease in motility and percentage of swollen spermatozoa and an increase in morphological abnormalities and O2- production in group B were found in comparison with group A after freezing-thawing process (p < 0.05). It seems that the freezing-thawing process leads to an increase of the O2- production. However, it remains to be documented if the increased concentrations of O2- in canine semen are responsible for the alterations in the seminal parameters observed in this study.  相似文献

The proportions of Sertoli cell tumor (SCT), seminoma and Leydig cell tumor in 50 dogs with unilateral testicular tumors were 52%, 36% and 12%, respectively. The rate of occurrence of SCT in the cryptorchid testis was very high (71%). The testicular superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, testicular heat shock protein (HSP) 70 concentration and peripheral blood plasma inhibin (INH)-alpha concentration of 10 dogs with a unilateral cryptorchid testis and no testicular tumors, 10 dogs with SCT in a unilateral cryptorchid testis and 10 normal dogs, all aged 5-15 years, were measured in order to identify high risk factors for the occurrence of SCT in the canine cryptorchid testis. The mean SOD activity in cryptorchid testes and SCTs was significantly lower and higher, respectively, than in normal testes (both P<0.01). The mean HSP 70 concentration in both cryptorchid testes and SCTs was significantly higher than in normal testes (both P<0.01). The mean plasma INH-alpha concentration of the cryptorchid and SCT dogs was significantly lower and higher, respectively, than in normal dogs (P<0.05 and 0.01, respectively). The low SOD activity in the cryptorchid testis, low blood plasma INH-alpha concentration of the cryptorchid dogs and high HSP 70 concentration in the SCTs may be related to the occurrence of SCT and tumor cell proliferation in canine cryptorchid testes.  相似文献

The pharmacokinetics of marbofloxacin were investigated in healthy (n=8) and Mannheimia haemolytica naturally infected (n=8) Simmental ruminant calves following intravenous (i.v.) and intramuscular (i.m.) administration of 2 mg kg(-1) body weight. The concentration of marbofloxacin in plasma was measured using high performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection. Following i.v. administration of the drug, the elimination half-life (t(1/2 beta)) and mean residence time (MRT) were significantly longer in diseased calves (8.2h; 11.13 h) than in healthy ones (4.6 h; 6.1 h), respectively. The value of total body clearance (CL(B)) was larger in healthy calves (3 ml min(-1) kg(-1)) than in diseased ones (1.3 ml min(-1) kg(-1)). After single intramuscular (i.m.) administration of the drug, the elimination half-life, mean residence time (MRT) and maximum plasma concentration (C(max)) were higher in diseased calves (8.0, 12 h, 2.32 microg ml(-1)) than in healthy ones (4.7, 7.4 h, 1.4 microg ml(-1)), respectively. The plasma concentrations and AUC following administration of the drug by both routes were significantly higher in diseased calves than in healthy ones. Protein binding of Marbofloxacin was not significantly different in healthy and diseased calves. The mean value for MIC of marbofloxacin for M. haemolytica was 0.1+/-0.06 microg ml(-1). The C(max)/MIC and AUC(24)/MIC ratios were significantly higher in diseased calves (13.0-64.4 and 125-618 h) than in healthy calves (8-38.33 and 66.34-328 h). The obtained results for surrogate markers of antimicrobial activity (C(max)/MIC, AUC/MIC and T > or = MIC) indicate the excellent pharmacodynamic characteristics of the drug in diseased calves with M. haemolytica, which can be expected to optimize the clinical efficacy and minimize the development of resistance.  相似文献

The purpose of the study reported here was to determine whether dogs with chronic valvular disease have increased plasma C-reactive protein concentration, compared with that in clinically normal dogs. Blood was collected from 47 dogs with physical and echocardiographic evidence of chronic valvular disease and from 20 healthy controls. C-reactive protein concentration was determined with a commercial canine C-reactive protein enzyme immunoassay. Compared with controls, dogs with chronic valvular disease had higher plasma concentration of C-reactive protein (median 2.17 microg/mL [range, 0.86-33.8 microg/mL]) versus 1.43 microg/mL [range, 0.84-4.99 microg/mL]; P < .001). C-reactive protein concentration was not related to the presence of congestive heart failure or murmur grade. The results of this study suggest that increased concentration of C-reactive protein is found in dogs with chronic valvular disease.  相似文献

Gastroenteritis of viral origin has emerged as a major cause of morbidity and mortality in dogs during the last two decades. Amongst the viral etiologies responsible for gastroenteritis in dogs, canine parvovirus (CPV) is considered as the most pathogenic. The disease is characterized by hemorrhagic enteritis, bloody diarrhoea and myocarditis in young pups. The present study was carried out to examine alterations in oxidative stress indices in the erythrocytes from dogs suffering from gastroenteritis with or without canine parvoviral infection as confirmed by CPV-DNA amplification from faeces using specific primers for CPV-2 as well as CPV-2a and CPV-2b variants by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The present investigation utilized clinical cases of dogs with signs of acute diarrhea (n = 56), and 14 more apparently healthy dogs of similar age group. Erythrocytic oxidative stress indices such as lipid peroxides level and antioxidant enzymes like superoxide dismutase and catalase activity, and blood micro-mineral (iron, copper, cobalt and zinc) status were analyzed in each dog (n = 70). The acute cases of gastroenteritis in dogs were associated with altered erythrocytic lipid peroxidation as evident by estimation of malonaldehyde (MDA) concentration. The activities of antioxidant enzymes catalase and superoxide dismutase, the first line of antioxidant defense against damaging effects of free radicals, were also altered. The alterations in oxidative stress indices were more pronounced in cases with involvement of canine parvovirus as compared to parvo-negative cases. Our results also revealed decreased blood zinc level in diarrhoea in dogs irrespective of involvement of canine parvovirus.  相似文献

Background: In people, increased thrombin‐activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFI) antigen has been associated with increased risk of thrombosis, and decreased TAFI may contribute to bleeding diathesis. TAFI activity in dogs has been described in experimental models, but not in dogs with spontaneous disease. Objective: The aim of this study was to compare TAFI activity in healthy dogs with TAFI activity in dogs with spontaneous disease. Methods: Plasma samples from 20 clinically healthy Beagles and from 35 dogs with various diseases were analyzed using a commercial chromogenic assay that measured TAFI activity relative to activity in standardized pooled human plasma. Results: Median TAFI activity for the 20 Beagles was 46.1% (range 32.2–70.8%) compared with 62.6% (29.1–250%) for the 35 diseased dogs, and 14/35 (40%) had TAFI activities >the upper limit for controls. The highest individual activities (>225%) were in 3 dogs with malignant neoplasms and 1 dog with thrombocytopenia. For data grouped by diagnosis, median TAFI activity was 61.7% for benign neoplasia (n=5), 64.9% for malignant neoplasia (n=8), 75.5% for Angiostrongylus vasorum infection (n=4), 68.8% for bacterial sepsis (n=7), and 58.7% for miscellaneous diseases (n=11). Compared with TAFI activity in control dogs, median TAFI activity was significantly increased only in the group of dogs with bacterial sepsis. Conclusion: Bacterial sepsis was associated with significantly increased TAFI activity, and individual dogs with increased TAFI activities were found in all disease groups. The role of TAFI in the pathogenesis of hemostatic disorders in dogs and its value as a prognostic indicator deserve further investigation.  相似文献

The aim of the present work was to evaluate whether concentrations of the carboxy-terminal cross-linked fragment of type II collagen (CTX-II), the activities of matrix metalloproteinase-2 and -9 (MMP-2/-9) and Myeloperoxidase (MPO) in canine synovial fluids (SF) can reflect structural alterations of articular cartilage in dogs with fragmented medial coronoid process (FMCP). Elbow joints with FMCP underwent radiographic and arthroscopic examination. Commercially available assays were used to analyze SF for CTX-II concentration and MMP-2/-9 activity. MPO activity was measured by o-dianisidine-assay. The MMPs were further evaluated by zymography. CTX-II concentration and MMP-2 activity showed age-dependent trends in controls. Increased enzyme activities of MPO and MMP-2/-9 were found in diseased dogs. MMP-9activity seems suitable to underline the subjective assessment of the degree of cartilage damage. These initial data of the study suggest that MPO and MMP-2/9 may be used as objective biomarkers in the diagnosis of canine osteoarthritis due to FMCP.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between different screening tests of haemostasis and amidolytic plasma activities of unfractionated (standard) heparin in dogs. Different doses of intravenous (i.v.) [25, 50 or 100 IU Kg(-1)bodyweight (BW)] and subcutaneous (s.c.) heparin (250, 500 and 750 IU kg(-1)) were given to groups each of five clinically healthy adult beagles. Measurements of heparin activity with a factor Xa-dependent chromogenic substrate, activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) (two different reagents), thrombin time (TT, two different thrombin activities in the reagent: 3 and 6 IU ml(-1)) and the reaction time of the resonance thrombogram (RTG -r) with two different measuring devices were performed at different times. The relationship between ratio values (actual/baseline values) of the coagulation tests and heparin activity was analysed based on regression analysis and correlation coefficient. The greatest alterations were seen for the TT([3 IU ml(-1)])and the RTG -r which were near or exceeded the upper limit of measuring range, if 25 IU kg(-1)BW heparin were given i.v. at heparin plasma levels of 0.54 +/- 0.13 IU ml(-1). These results show, that only APTT and TT measured with high thrombin activity assay appear suitable for guiding high dose heparin therapy in dogs. Averaged alterations of APTT ratio in canine plasma were less than those observed in people for similar plasma heparin levels, indicating that the guideline extrapolated from people for monitoring high dose heparin therapy using APTT may not be valid for use in dogs. After coagulation times had been converted into ratio values, based on regression analysis and Wilcoxon's test, differences of heparin sensitivity were found not only for TT measured with different thrombin activities but also for different APTT reagents (P < 0.001). The correlation between amidylotic antifactor Xa activity and ratio of coagulation times was only moderate and found to be lower for RTG -r (instrument 1: r(s)= 0.711; instrument 2: r(s)= 0.573) than for the other coagulation tests (r(s)= 0.822 to r(s)= 0.890). This indicates a considerable variability of the ratio values of the screening tests at defined heparin plasma activities. These results show, that blood coagulation tests in general are little or unsuitable for heparin antifactor-Xa activity control.  相似文献

There are no data in the veterinary literature relating to oxidative stress in canine atopic dermatitis (CAD). The study aimed to determine levels of oxidative stress markers, plasma malondialdehyde (MDA), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), whole blood glutathione peroxidase (GPX) and erythrocyte superoxide dismutase (SOD), in 15 CAD patients and 17 healthy dogs. A correlation between CADESI (Canine Atopic Dermatitis Extent and Severity Index) score and MDA was also determined. Significantly higher plasma MDA levels were found in patients than in healthy dogs. The significant, highly positive correlation determined between CADESI score and MDA in the patient group indicates an association between the severity of CAD and the extent of oxidative damage to membrane lipids. There were no significant differences in TAC, GPX and SOD between patients and healthy dogs. Our findings suggest that oxidative stress with increased lipid peroxidation could be involved in the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis in dogs.  相似文献

In dogs effects of phenobarbital (PB) on hepatic cytochrome P450 (CYP) activities and on concentrations of plasma alpha 1-acid glycoprotein (AGP) were examined. Total body clearance (Cl(B)) of antipyrine and plasma AGP concentrations were monitored during oral PB treatment at a therapeutic dose for 35 days. Cl(B) of antipyrine, which reflects hepatic CYP activities, gradually increased and was maintained at about threefold concentrations compared with that before treatment, suggesting that PB induced CYP activities at a large extent even in a therapeutic dose, necessary for an antiepileptic effect. Plasma AGP concentrations also increased significantly (about fourfold). Dogs were killed at the 35th day of the PB treatment, and hepatic CYP content and enzyme kinetics of several CYPs were determined using liver microsomes. CYP content was about twofold higher than that from untreated dogs. The V(max) values for CYP1A-like activity (ethoxyresorufin O-deethylation), 2B-like activity (ethoxycoumarin O-deethylation), 2C-like activity (tolbutamide hydroxylation) and 3A-like activity (midazolam 4-hydroxylation) were higher (2-4-fold) than that in untreated dogs. In summary, a therapeutic dose of PB for antiepileptic therapy significantly induced hepatic CYPs and plasma AGP in dogs. Therefore, during antiepileptic therapy with PB, special attention must be paid to the pharmacokinetics of drugs simultaneously administered.  相似文献

Serum thymidine kinase (sTK) activity was evaluated as a tumor marker for canine malignant lymphoma (ML). The objective was to investigate if sTK, as in humans, could be used as a prognostic marker for survival time in dogs with ML and if sTK could identify early signs of progression of disease in treated dogs. Serum samples from 52 dogs with ML were tested for initial TK activity. Samples from 21 normal dogs and 25 dogs with nonhematologic neoplasms were used for comparison. Forty-four dogs with ML were treated. Serum TK activity was measured in treated dogs before each treatment and every 4 weeks thereafter until relapse. Dogs with ML had 2-180 times higher TK activity (TK 5-900 U/L) than normal dogs (TK <7 U/L) based on the mean + 2 standard deviations. In the group of other neoplasms, only 2 dogs had a moderate increase (6.4 and 7.5 U/L) compared with the controls. Mean sTK activities in the dogs with ML that had gone into complete remission (CR) were not significantly different from activities in healthy controls (P = .68). Mean sTK at least 3 weeks before and at the time of relapse was significantly higher than activity measured at CR (P < .0001). Dogs with ML that initially had sTK >30 U/L had significantly shorter survival times (P < .0001). Furthermore, sTK activity reflected the clinical staging of ML. Measuring sTK can be used as a powerful objective tumor marker for prognosis and for predicting relapse before recurrence of clinically detectable disease in dogs with ML undergoing chemotherapy.  相似文献

The dog is widely used as a translational experimental model studying the host response and new treatments for human endotoxemia. The present study evaluated the applicability of a novel patient-near neutrophil chemiluminescence assay for the measurement of endotoxin activity in human blood when applied to canine blood samples. The assay was observed to be analytically sensitive and specific to endotoxin when tested in vitro, spiked with purified Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide and live E. coli. The diagnostic sensitivity was sustained during Gram-positive contamination. Finally, it also demonstrated diagnostic potential when able to discriminate dogs with spontaneously occurring endotoxemia from both healthy dogs and diseased dogs without endotoxemia. The rapid patient-near assessment of endotoxin activity in canine blood should facilitate future studies on endotoxemia in both spontaneous disease and in experimental settings.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) as a marker of inflammation and liver injury in the acute and subclinical phases of canine ehrlichiosis. Forty-two serum samples of dogs naturally infected with Ehrlichia canis were used, of which 24 were from animals with the acute phase of the disease and 18 with subclinical disease. In addition, sera from 17 healthy dogs were used as negative controls. The hematocrit, BChE activity, hepatic injury (alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST)), nitric oxide, and cytokines levels were evaluated. The BChE activity was significantly elevated (P < 0.05) in dogs with the acute phase of the disease when compared to healthy animals. However, there was a reduction on BChE activity on dogs with subclinical disease compared to the other two groups. AST and ALT levels were significantly higher (P < 0.05) in the acute phase, as well as the inflammatory mediators (NOx, TNF-α, INF-γ, IL-4, IL-6) when compared to the control group. On the other hand, IL-10 levels were lower in the acute phase. Based on these results, we are able to conclude that the acute infection caused by E. canis in dogs leads to an increase on seric BChE activity and some inflammatory mediators. Therefore, this enzyme might be used as a marker of acute inflammatory response in dogs naturally infected by this bacterium.  相似文献

Objective

To investigate parameters causing canine thromboelastographic hypercoagulability and to investigate whether thromboelastography (TEG) with Cytochalasin D (Cyt D) added is related to parameters of platelet activity.

Design

Prospective observational study on hemostatic and inflammatory parameters. Data were collected between November 2012 and July 2013.

Setting

University teaching hospital.

Animals

Twenty‐eight dogs suffering from diseases predisposing to thrombosis and 19 clinically healthy dogs. Diseased dogs were enrolled if they fulfilled inclusion criteria regarding age, size, informed client consent, and obtained a diagnosis of a disease that has been associated with thrombosis or hypercoagulability.

Interventions

None.

Measurements and Main Results

Parameters of coagulation and anticoagulation, fibrinolysis, and antifibrinolysis, platelet activity, inflammation, platelet count, and hematocrit were measured using CBC, TEG, platelet aggregation on multiplate, platelet activity on flow cytometry, and hemostatic and inflammatory markers on plasma and serum analyses. ANOVA and multilinear regression analyses indicated that especially hematocrit and the inflammatory parameters C‐reactive protein and interleukin‐8 showed best association with overall clot strength in diseased dogs with hypercoagulable TEG tracings. Ratios presumed to reflect platelet contribution to the TEG tracing obtained in TEG analyses with Cyt D were related especially with hematocrit and P‐selectin expression of platelets measured after γ‐Thrombin activation on flow cytometry.

Conclusion

Overall clot strength in TEG analyses of the hypercoagulable dogs included in the present study appears to be primarily associated with inflammation as well as hematocrit. Furthermore, the ratio between standard TEG analyses and TEG analyses with Cyt D may reflect some degree of platelet activity.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Hepatopathy in dogs with chronic respiratory diseases is poorly recognized. The aim of this study was to evaluate liver parameters alanine transferase, alkaline phosphatase, and glutamate dehydrogenase, as well as basal and stimulated bile acid concentration, in dogs with tracheal collapse. HYPOTHESIS: Dogs with tracheal collapse have hepatopathy. ANIMALS: 26 dogs with tracheal collapse. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Gall bladder contraction was stimulated by intramuscular injection of a synthetic cholecystokinin analogue (ceruletide). Twelve healthy Beagle dogs and 30 dogs of various breeds investigated previously without evidence of hepatic, gastrointestinal, or respiratory diseases served as control. Amelioration of liver variables was assessed after stent implantation. RESULTS: Twelve of 26 (46%) dogs had increased serum activity of 2 or more liver enzymes. Serum basal bile acid concentrations were high in 24 of 26 dogs. Twenty- and 40-minute stimulated bile acids were significantly higher in dogs with tracheal collapse (64.2 +130.0/-43.0 micromol/L and 82.6 +164.0/-57.1 micromol/L) compared to the control dogs (7.0 +/- 3.6 micromol/L and 6.4 +/- 3.5 micromol/L). All twelve dogs reevaluated after a median of 58 days (48-219 days) had a normal breathing pattern and significantly decreased 20 and 40 minutes stimulated bile acids (50.0 +92.7/-32.8 micromol/L, 52.8 +97.6/-34.3 micromol/L; P = .0043), whereas plasma liver enzyme activities were not significantly influenced. CONCLUSION AND CLINICAL IMPORTANCE: There was a significant hepatic dysfunction in the majority of dogs with a tracheal collapse. Liver function should be routinely assessed in dogs with severe respiratory disease.  相似文献

The activities of malate dehydrogenase (MDH) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and the pattern of the isoenzymes of LDH were determined in the peripheral blood leukocytes of dogs, rabbits and cats. Rabbits had significantly higher plasma glucose concentrations than dogs or cats. Feline leukocytes showed higher LDH and lower MDH activities than canine or rabbit leukocytes. The M/L ratio, defined as the MDH activity divided by the LDH activity in cytosolic fractions, was considered to be a good indicator with which to evaluate the metabolic state in animal tissues. The M/L ratio was highest in canine and lowest in feline leukocytes. LDH-2 and LDH-3 isoenzymes were dominant in canine leukocytes. LDH-1 and LDH-2 were dominant in rabbit leukocytes, whereas LDH-5 was dominant in feline leukocytes. It was evident that there were significant differences in energy metabolism between the leukocytes of dogs, rabbits and cats.  相似文献
