A limited interlaboratory study was carried out to determine the effect of lighting conditions on the release of cadmium from ceramic glazes by 4% acetic acid. Cadmium release increased with increased exposure to light. Further interlaboratory study on plates manufactured under controlled conditions showed that if temperature, intensity of illumination, and time of exposure are specified, reproducible results for leaching of both lead and cadmium can be obtained. A modification of the official AOAC method, 25.031-25.034, to increase sensitivity was collaboratively studied by 8 laboratories. Each received 6 solutions of lead in 4% acetic acid (3 sets of blind duplicates at the 0.1, 0.5, and 0.8 mug/ml levels) plus a reagent blank. Average recoveries were 0.1006, 0.5056, and 0.8194 mug/ml, respectively, with coefficients of variation of 11.4, 3.3, and 2.8%, respectively. The proposed modification has been adopted as official first action, and a parameter for exposure to light during extraction has been included in the method.  相似文献

[目的]针对赣南稀土矿区周边农田存在严重的重金属铅污染情况,研究该地区农田土壤中重金属铅迁移转化规律,旨在为矿区铅污染治理提供依据。[方法]采用模拟酸雨淋滤试验土柱观察重金属铅的淋出量变化,结合响应曲面分析试验结果。[结果]随时间的推移,铅淋出量呈现出快速下降和慢速下降两个阶段。随着pH值的减小,淋滤强度的上升使得铅淋出量呈现先上升后减小的情况。当外源铅浓度增加时,pH值的减小和淋滤强度的上升都会时铅淋出量增加。响应曲面软件对试验数据进行多元回归拟合,交互项中pH值与培养铅浓度较为显著。[结论]铅的污染程度与铅的析出呈正相关,酸雨pH值对污染农田中铅的析出有重要影响。  相似文献

Background, Aim and Scope   Environmental contamination by heavy metals affects microbial communities. The number of single and multiple heavy metal resistant bacteria may be an indictor of the level of contamination. This paper details the isolation and characterisation of metal resistant microorganisms isolated from rhizosphere/soil samples obtained from an abandoned zinc, lead and copper mine and a local unaffected site. This data was compared to the level of heavy metal in the soils to establish the effect of metals on the microbial community and to determine the relationship between pollutant levels and resistant strains. This paper outlines the diversity of transferable resistance determinants between both sites and details the levels of heavy metal resistant bacteria and those expressing transferable multiple heavy metal tolerance.Methods   The sample sites were located in Co. Galway, Ireland. The first sample site (site A) was a former lead, zinc and copper mine, which was closed in 1961 due to exhaustion of ore. The second site (site B) was located two and a half kilometres from the mining site and was not affected by the mining operations. Composite soil samples were characterised for general soil matrix composition, organic content, pH and general chemical parameters. The soil was also enumerated for the total viable heterotrophic counts and tested on Pseudomonas selective agar (PSA) for total Pseudomonas counts and Sucrose Asparagine (SA), which is semi-selective for fluorescent Pseudomonas.Results and Discussion   Samples from both site A and site B were analysed by atomic absorption spectrophotometry for the presence of heavy metals. In the case of copper, which has a Dutch list recommended minimum permissible level of 190 µg/Kg dry weight, the levels detected at site A were 1270 µg/Kg dry weight while site B was detected at 36 µg/Kg. The arsenic levels detected at site A were eight times the permissible level (416 µg/Kg) while only half the permissible level was found at site B (13 µg/Kg). Zinc concentrations were also high at site A (4460 µg/Kg) while at site B (553 µg/Kg) they were well below the Dutchlist guidelines (720 µg/Kg). A large number of heavy metal tolerant strains were isolated from both sites. 270 isolates (site A (170) and site B (100)) were screened against 8 metals to examine the extent of multiple resistance. 82% of the strains from site A were found to be resistant to 5 metals. A total of 18% showed resistance to all 8 metals and of those examined only 4% were resistant to only one metal. In contrast isolates from site B showed no multiple resistance to more than 5 metals, while 62% showed resistance to individual metals only. Site A had a higher level of multiple heavy metal resistance strains. Stains isolated from site A had 23 (14%) isolates resistant to zinc, copper, nickel, arsenic and cobalt and site B had no bacteria resistant to all five of these selected metals. The transferability of heavy metal resistance was investigated in the case of 60 multiple heavy metal resistant isolates taken from site A and 50 multiple resistance isolates from site B. Transfer was only detected in isolates from site A, 13% showed transfer and expression of copper, zinc and arsenic resistance determinants. In most cases the transconjugants only expressed resistance to copper, zinc and arsenic, which were the metals, used for selection. This co-transfer of all three determinants suggests a genetic link between these resistance determinants.Conclusion   Heavy metal resistant bacteria are present in both sites, however, the number and presence of multiple transferable resistance phenotypes are confined to the isolates from the heavy metal contaminated site. The presence of high levels of heavy metals selects these multiple resistance phenotypes. Within these communities there seems to be little diversity between the microorganisms, which provides a hugely preferable environment for gene transfer of such metal resistant determinants.Recommendation and Perspective   The experiments have shown a microbes ability to mobilize heavy metal determinants and a relationship between heavy metal resistance and metal contamination has been identified These multiple heavy metal resistant bacteria could eventually be used for detection and qualification of the level of heavy metal-polluted soil/water environments.  相似文献

Total concentration of lead and its individual partitioning, i.e. exchangeable, adsorbed, organically bound, carbonate, sulfide and residual have been assayed in the bottom sediment of Rybnik reservoir applying AAS. The contribution of particular fractions to the total lead concentration was as follows: carbonates (37%) > sulfides (28%) > residual (14%) > adsorbed (10%) > exchangeable (8%) > organic bonds (3%). The multiple regression analysis applied led to the conclusion that the increase in lead content in the bottom sediment resulted from an increase in poorly mobile forms, notably carbonates.  相似文献

对广州市郊区某蔬菜生产基地的蔬菜样品铅元素的含量进行分析测定,评价其污染程度,并评估人群经食用蔬菜摄入铅的健康风险。结果表明,蔬菜铅的平均含量为0.08mg·kg-1,超过《农产品安全质量无公害蔬菜安全要求》所规定铅的限量值(0.2mg·kg-1)的比率为12.9%。蔬菜铅的单项评价指数均小于1,辣椒除外(2.05),这表明除个别蔬菜品种外,广州市郊区蔬菜铅的等级为安全。蔬菜铅含量表现为叶菜类〉瓜果类,与其他种类相比,叶菜类蔬菜对珠江三角洲地区人体健康造成的风险较大。据广东省不同地区、家庭经济收入水平每标准人经食用蔬菜日均铅摄入量(Daily intake,DI)均未超过FAO/WHO人均日摄入可允许限量标准(Provisional tolerable daily intake,PTDI),铅的THQ(Target hazard quotients)靶标危害系数均小于1,表现为THQ城市=THQ高〉THQ中〉THQ低=THQ农村,这说明城市人群经蔬菜暴露途径摄入铅的潜在健康风险较高。  相似文献

Collections were made from three sites in the urbanarea of Brisbane, Australia. At each site, soilsamples were collected from transects parallel andperpendicular to the roadway, as well as a depthprofile. Total lead was determined by refluxing thesamples with concentrated nitric acid (1 h) andorganic lead by shaking with cold ammoniacal methanol(Flameless AAS). Both chloride and bromide anionswere obtained from an aqueous extract (HPLC). Resultsshowed that vehicular emissions were the major sourceof lead in the roadside soils of this study. At siteslocated in relatively enclosed areas of higheratmospheric stability, both lead and bromide contentsdecreased markedly with increasing distance from theroadway. However, in the absence of such atmosphericstability, the distribution of both lead and bromidecontents revealed different patterns which wasattributed mainly to the effect of meteorologicalfactors such as wind direction and speed. The depthprofile of roadside soils generally showed leadaccumulation within the uppermost 5 cm, whereaselevated concentrations of bromide were observed at greater depth.  相似文献

Raptors that consume game species may ingest lead fragments or shot embedded in their prey’s flesh. Threatened Spanish imperial eagles Aquila adalberti feed on greylag geese in southern Spain in winter, and often ingest lead shot. We analysed bone and feather samples from 65 Spanish imperial eagle museum specimens collected between 1980 and 1999, to investigate the prevalence of elevated lead concentrations. Four of 34 birds (12%) had very elevated bone lead concentrations. All four birds were young and the concentrations were outliers to the distribution, suggesting probable exposure to lead gunshot. Excluding these elevated lead outliers, bone lead concentrations were correlated with the bird’s age at death. Three of 41 feathers (7%) had elevated lead concentrations, indicative of high exposure during feather formation. When these outliers were omitted, feather lead concentration was correlated with the age of museum specimens, suggesting that a high proportion of feather lead was exogenous, deposited after specimen collection. Therefore, careful interpretation of feather lead concentrations is required to separate endogenous and exogenous lead. We discuss the potential significance of lead poisoning in Spanish imperial eagles and other raptors, and recommend measures for its reduction.  相似文献

优先流是近年来针对土壤水运动所提出的术语,是土壤中水运动机制研究由均匀走向非均匀领域的标志,是指在土壤各向异性的情况下,水分和溶质在多重因素的共同作用下,沿着特定的路径向下发生非稳定渗流的现象.优先流是造成降雨型滑坡、泥石流等地质灾害以及地下水质污染、农业土壤中养分流失等现象的主要诱因之一,所以深入开展优先流的研究显得尤为重要.本文从优先流的界定出发,主要介绍回顾了优先流数学模型的发展和研究优先流所采用的技术手段和方法,最后总结并探讨了优先流研究中存在的问题和发展趋势.  相似文献

The Chaco Serrano Woodland from central Argentina has been dramatically reduced during the past 30 years, and is currently confined to several isolates of different size. In this study, we evaluated the effects of forest size, isolation and edge formation on plant species richness. Furthermore, we tested whether plants species with particular ecological traits were differentially affected by habitat fragmentation. Habitat area showed the highest explanatory value for plant species richness in stepwise multiple regressions. The effect of area was most pronounced for rare species, suggesting that large forests are necessary to preserve species with low local or regional abundance. Differences between edge and interior of Chaco Serrano were more pronounced for native and shrub species richness. The analysis of individual species cover revealed that native and biotically pollinated plants were less abundant in woodland edges. Our results showed that forest transformation into smaller remnants has lead to an impoverishment of plant communities, with particular subsets of species defined by ecological traits (rarity, origin and pollination mode) being more susceptible.  相似文献

为了筛选出黄褐土中对铅污染敏感的指示微生物,本研究采用室内培养试验研究不同铅浓度对土壤微生物区系和功能多样性的影响。结果表明,向土壤中添加硝酸铅显著降低了可培养细菌、放线菌和真菌微生物的种群数量,这种抑制作用随着铅浓度的升高而增强,随着培养时间的延长而减弱。铅浓度、细菌、真菌和放线菌数量两两间呈极显著负相关关系。低浓度铅处理(100 mg kg?1)在培养初期(1 d)显著减少了可培养细菌和放线菌的数量,降低率分别为27.43%和30.89%;高浓度铅处理(2500 mg kg?1)在整个培养期内均对真菌数量产生显著抑制作用,且抑制率维持在90%左右。从培养初期到中期(1 ~ 14 d),随着铅浓度升高土壤微生物群落活性和功能多样性指数显著下降(中浓度铅处理除外),培养后期(28 d)各个浓度铅处理的土壤微生物的丰富度和优势度均显著增加。与对照、低浓度铅和高浓度铅处理相比,中浓度铅处理(500 mg kg?1)更有利于保持黄褐土较高的微生物的群落代谢活性和功能多样性。本研究中3 种可培养微生物功能群对黄褐土添加硝酸铅的敏感度依次是放线菌,细菌和真菌。研究表明,在黄褐土地区真菌可以用来指示较为严重的土壤铅污染状况,放线菌和细菌可以用来指示铅污染程度较轻的土壤环境状况。  相似文献

The content and isotope ratios of lead were studied in soils, street dust, and snow sampled in the Southeastern administrative district of Moscow. The relationships between the lead isotope ratios and the content of different lead compounds in soils were revealed. It was shown that isotope ratios for the total lead have low information values upon low levels of lead contamination. The contribution of technogenic lead compounds to the isotopic composition of lead increases in the following sequence: total lead < acid-soluble lead < mobile lead. The effect of emissions from thermal power stations and vehicles’ exhaust on the isotopic composition of lead in the street dust and soils was estimated.  相似文献

Lead is very toxic and if ingested cancause severe health problems to both animals andhumans. To determine if lead accumulation in treescould provide a direct pathway to enter the foodchain, oaks (Q. nigra or Q. velutina)growing near two lead smelting facilities in Alabama,U.S.A., were analyzed for lead in acorns, leaves and treecores. A relatively pristine site was used as acontrol. Lead was not detected in acorns collected atany site, and was only found in tree cores from thesites near smelters. Significant increases in treecore lead from 1975–1995 were detected at the activesmelter site. Results were different from the inactivesmelter site; lead increased in tree cores until thesmelter ceased operation, then decreased afterclosing. Soil lead decreased linearly with distancefrom both smelters. In addition, a significantpositive relationship was observed between leaf andsoil lead at the site with the active smelter, andmay be the result of both translocation via treeroots, and foliar absorption of deposited lead ionsinto the leaf structure.  相似文献

To quantify lead contamination in wines and to try to identify major lead sources, two winemaking processes were followed during one annual cycle of wine production. Two vineyards from the Douro Portuguese region and two types of wine, one red table wine, which has been produced in a very modern winery, and one red fortified wine (similar to Port), which has been produced by a traditional vinification process, were selected for this study. Aerosols from the vineyards atmosphere, vineyard soil, vine leaves, grapes, and samples from the intermediary and final wine product were collected. Suitable pretreatments, namely, high-pressure microwave assisted digestion (soil, leaves, and grapes) and UV-irradiation (grape juices and samples from the different steps of the vinification processes), were used. The samples were analyzed in terms of lead total concentration and respective isotope ratios by using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry and atomic absorption spectrophotometry with electrothermal atomization. It was observed that the major sources of lead were in the vinification system, the more traditional one introducing more lead than the modern one. For the fortified wine, the lead concentration increased from 4.7 microg L(-1), in the grape juice, to 17.2 microg L(-1), in the final product, while for the table wine the increase was from 4.1 to 13.1 microg L(-)(1). Therefore, only about 1/4 (fortified wine) and 1/3 (table wine) of the lead total content of the final products came from soil and atmospheric deposition. Therefore, it is expected that marked reductions of the lead content in the wines would occur if the sources of lead were removed from the tubes and containers used in the vinification system, particularly by using welding alloys and small fittings free of lead. The lead levels in the vine leaves (global mean of 0.43 microg g(dry leave)(-1)) and grapes (global mean of 35 ng g(dry grape)(-1)) were similar in both vineyards.  相似文献

Laboratory column studies were used to predict the effect on the leachability of lead when using fly ash or a fly ash/sludge mixture as a cover for a lead tailings site. A high pH fly ash cover produced a leachate with a pH 12. This was sufficiently high to allow for the formation of lead hydroxide complexes which are slightly soluble. Therefore, the leachate had an average lead concentration of about 5 mg L-1, while the pH in the leachate from the column with only tailings was 7.8 and a lead concentration below the detection limit (≤0.1 mg L-1). The fly ash cover changed the availability of the remaining lead, making it less available. Rainfall rate did not affect the fly ash cover, but did have an effect on the fly ash/sludge cover.  相似文献

Aspects of the decomposition of metal tolerant vegetation growing on mine waste containing high concentrations of lead and zinc were studied and compared with those on an adjacent uncontaminated site. High concentrations of Pb and, to a lesser extent, Zn, accumulated in metal-tolerant grass. Retarded decomposition of this vegetation as compared with that on the uncontaminated site was indicated by a greater accumulation of litter, less humus formation, reduced soil urease activity and smaller microbial and microfaunal populations. Some evidence for increased metal tolerance in microbes from the mine waste was obtained. Concentrations of lead tolerated under laboratory conditions were much lower than those extracted from the mine waste and its vegetation, probably due to the lack of an accurate method for assessing the availability of lead in soil and vegetation.  相似文献

Octopuses (Octopus vulgaris) landed from commercial fishing were sampled and the concentrations of lead, calcium and strontium, in digestive gland, branchial heart, gills, mantle and arms, were determined using PIXE (particle-induced X-ray emission). Lead was detected in all tissues, although not in samples from all animals analysed. Female octopuses accumulated more lead in digestive gland than did males. The digestive gland index, an indicator of nutritional status, showed a negative correlation with lead concentration in both sexes. There were positive correlations between the concentration of lead and those of calcium and strontium in digestive gland and a negative correlation between lead and calcium in branchial heart tissue. Concentrations of calcium in arms were lower in autumn and spring than in winter and summer. Lead content increased with increasing body weight and mantle length so we can conclude that lead continues to accumulate during the animal’s life. Concentrations of lead in two samples were higher than the maximum legally permitted concentration of lead in food.  相似文献

Mining operations are potential sources of airborne metal and metalloid contaminants through both direct smelter emissions and wind erosion of mine tailings. The warmer, drier conditions predicted for the Southwestern USA by climate models may make contaminated atmospheric dust and aerosols increasingly important, with potential deleterious effects on human health and ecology. Fine particulates such as those resulting from smelting operations may disperse more readily into the environment than coarser tailings dust. Fine particles also penetrate more deeply into the human respiratory system and may become more bioavailable due to their high specific surface area. In this work, we report the size-fractionated chemical characterization of atmospheric aerosols sampled over a period of a year near an active mining and smelting site in Arizona. Aerosols were characterized with a ten-stage (0.054 to 18???m aerodynamic diameter) multiple orifice uniform deposit impactor (MOUDI), a scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS), and a total suspended particulate collector. The MOUDI results show that arsenic and lead concentrations follow a bimodal distribution, with maxima centered at approximately 0.3 and 7.0???m diameter. We hypothesize that the sub-micron arsenic and lead are the product of condensation and coagulation of smelting vapors. In the coarse size, contaminants are thought to originate as Aeolian dust from mine tailings and other sources. Observation of ultrafine particle number concentration (SMPS) show the highest readings when the wind comes from the general direction of the smelting operations site.  相似文献

为阐述广西土壤铅含量现状及其潜在风险,通过检索20世纪90年代至今国内外关于广西土壤铅含量的文献,共筛选出目标文献57篇,涉及广西20多个地区,样品5 807个。结果表明,广西区土壤铅含量范围为18.80~6 350 mg kg-1,几何均值为147.9 mg kg-1。不同功能区的土壤铅含量分布存在较大差异,清洁土壤、城区土壤、工矿土壤、非矿区农用土壤和矿区农用土壤铅含量的几何均值分别为26.17、32.88、244.5、42.93和347.6 mg kg-1,分别是广西土壤铅背景值的1.391倍、1.747倍、12.99倍、2.281倍、18.47倍。调查区域中铅污染指数大于1的样本占总量的23%,有7%的样本属于重度污染,主要分布在南丹县、融安县等地,这可能与该区域的矿业活动有关。基于广西区铅矿产分布及目前未涉及调查的区域,建议对重污染区南丹、金城江、环江、融安、阳朔和崇左县等地采取治理措施,对铅锌矿分布较多的大新县、武宣县、岑溪县、贺县等地区作进一步的调查研究。  相似文献

This paper focuses on lead contamination in topsoils and stream sediments of public access areas in a largely urban UK catchment. It compares severity of contamination with accepted trigger thresholds, examines spatial patterns relative to urban and industrial development, and explores potential mobility of lead using ‘plant available’: total lead ratios. Total and ‘plant available’ lead concentrations, organic content and pH were determined on 298 topsoil and 54 stream sediment samples using standard laboratory procedures. At the lowest total lead trigger threshold, approximately two thirds of topsoil and one third of stream sediment samples were contaminated. For ‘plant available’ lead the proportions were somewhat lower. The spatial pattern was characterised by ‘hot spot’ contamination, with highest values occurring in central and southern parts of the catchment which have a long urban and industrial history. Potential lead mobility is greatest in rural western and northern parts of the catchment where the lead fractions are probably derived from pedological alteration and weathering of soil parent materials. Conversely, in the urban and industrial areas, much of the lead probably consists of less mobile particulate forms. The implications of these findings for assessment, monitoring and management of contaminated areas are discussed.  相似文献

采用模拟酸雨连续淋洗的方法,研究了茶园土壤的酸化以及不同铅污染程度土壤中铅的溶出和形态转化规律。结果表明,土壤的酸化程度受酸雨酸性强度的控制,酸雨pH越低,土壤酸化程度越强;土壤中铅的溶出总量随模拟酸雨的酸度和土壤本身含铅量的增加而增加,但是土壤滤液中铅含量随时间变化的规律只受模拟酸雨的pH影响;土壤铅污染程度越严重,其中的活性态铅含量越高,同时pH<4.5的酸雨会使土壤中的非活性态铅大量向活性态转化,这将导致土壤中铅的活化而增加其生态风险。  相似文献
