The Library of the University of Agricultural Sciences (formerly the Institute of Agronomy) in Cluj-Napoca, Romania is described. The collection has received very few Western publications since 1975 and a limited number of materials from the former Soviet Union and the socialist countries. Library services and computer applications have been hindered due to missing or inadequate hardware and software, lack of photocopying equipment, and insufficient funding for the library collection. Cooperation with other countries is based upon the exchange of publications agreements. 相似文献

The National CD-ROM Sampler is a collection of significant Extension material collected from across the United States, and was a project requested by the National Agricultural Library (NAL) and the Extension Service/United States Department of Agriculture (ES/USDA0 to investigate and evaluate the use of CD-ROM technology as a means for storing and distributing Extension-related information. This article recounts the experiences of the Interactive Design and Development (IDD) staff in producing the Sampler. The hub of agricultural production and education, and the center of scientific and technological information dissemination relevant to Slovak agriculture is Nitra, located in the southwestern part of Slovakia. Preeminent among the libraries of the agricultural sector is the Slovak Agricultural Library in Nitra, which serves as the branch library of Ùvtiz in Prague and as the library for the University of Agriculture. The Central Agricultural and Forestry Library, which is a part of the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information for Agriculture in Prague, Czechoslovakia, is one of the largest agricultural libraries in the world. The users of the library include students, scientists, research workers, and farmers. The library services consist of loans, reprographic services, bibliographic services as well as bibliographic publications. A project on the automation of the library is currently underway. This article presents current efforts by the National Agricultural Library (NAL) and the challenges and opportunities of gathering contemporary and historical federal dietary guidance publications into a digital collection. It begins with the history of United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) nutrition research and its promotion of dietary recommendations. The article then discusses the background of this digital project, its audience, and its stakeholders. It examines NAL's strategies for collecting digital content and promoting the collection and concludes with implications for other research libraries undertaking similar projects. 相似文献
