This study evaluated the effects of dietary supplementation of organic acids blend (OAB) alone or in combination with essential oil, Lippia origanoides (OAE) for Nile tilapia fed supplemented diets for 30 days. Fish (1.1 ± 0.04 g) were fed control (Control), or OAB 0.5% or OAB 0.5% + essential oil 0.125% (OAE) respectively. At the end of the experiment, samples were collected for de hemato‐immunological, histological analysis of the intestine and liver, as well as microbiology of the intestine. The pH of the diets supplemented with OAB and OAE reduced 0.92 and 0.19 respectively. The growth and FCR were unaffected by the treatments, but survival was significantly higher in the OAB treatment. Fish fed the OAB diet showed reduced concentration of total heterotrophic bacteria and Pseudomonas sp. in the intestine. Increased glucose in fish fed OAB and high number of circulating monocytes in fish fed OAE diet were observed. The anterior intestine of fish fed OAE diet showed larger number of goblet cells and increased villi height. The diet supplemented with OAB, mainly, improved the intestinal health and survival of tilapia juveniles and can be used in juvenile production.  相似文献

Pedohydrological properties were investigated on a piped slope in the Bergisches Land in the Rhenish Slate Mountains (Nordrhein‐Westfalen, Germany). The study confirmed that genesis and development of pipes decisively depend on hydrological conditions in the soils. Vertical water permeability of saturated samples was very high. This promoted fast seepage. Many macropores produced by earthworms also caused high transport capacity for soil water. Even more efficient were the burrows of moles and mice, enabling immediate infiltration and direct vertical and lateral water movement. On the contrary, the horizontal saturated permeability was low indicating no correlation with piping. Porosity of piped soils was not different to that of other soils of the region without pipes.  相似文献

Recent intensification efforts of astacid culture considerably depend on the appropriate assessment of the animal's physiological condition both for research and application. We conducted a 4 weeks feeding experiment to assess temporal resolution and accuracy of different response parameters (RNA/DNA ratio, RNA per wet weight, carapace length, wet weight, specific growth rate). Juvenile noble crayfish were exposed to five feeding regimes that differed in feeding frequency and food availability. Continuous growth was detected in all feeding regimes with individual increase up to 90% (wet weight) and 17% (carapace length), respectively. Morphometric parameters allowed separation of three weight‐groups or two length‐groups. During the experimental period RNA/DNA ratios showed both decrease (?17%) and increase (+35%), with superior accuracy than morphometric parameters, separating four groups. Based on RNA/DNA ratios, different feeding regimes were detected earlier, with two groups separated already after 3 weeks. RNA/DNA ratio was clearly superior to RNA per unit wet weight, as the latter failed to detect any differences between groups. In conclusion, RNA/DNA ratio is a valuable tool in nutritional studies with freshwater crayfish if overall growth is the key variable of interest.  相似文献

Canopy-held organic matter develops into a distinct soil system separate from the forest floor in wet temperate coniferous forests, creating a natural microcosm. We distinguished between fungal and bacterial components of the decomposer community in one site with Maple (Acer macrophyllum) and one site with Alder (Alnus rubra) by using direct measurements of growth; acetate incorporation into ergosterol, and leucine incorporation for fungi and bacteria, respectively. The higher organic matter content of the canopy soils correlated with higher fungal growth. The relative importance of fungi, indicated by fungal:bacterial growth ratio, was higher in the canopy soil of the Maple site, while there was no difference in the Alder site. The high C:N ratio of the Maple canopy soil likely contributed to this difference. These results demonstrate a divergence between canopy and forest floor that should be explored to gain insights in decomposer ecology using the natural microcosms that the canopy soils provide.  相似文献

The relationship between microbial diagenesis of Sphagnum peat (SP) and reed-sedge peat (RSP) and the spatial organization of peat bacterial communities was studied. Peats were aerobically incubated at 18-22 °C for 4 months. Changes in molecular composition of peat organic matter were monitored with solid-state 13C NMR, and the respective amount of functional groups was determined by integration of corresponding peaks. No abiotic peat transformation was detected. SP diagenesis caused about a 4% loss of parent materials with a similar yield of ketones, phenols, aromatic, and carbonyl compounds; whereas about 20% of RSP carbohydrates, along with ketones and methoxyl compounds were gradually transformed into carbonyl and aliphatic compounds. SP and RSP substantially varied in bacterial composition. To address spatial community structure, bacterial populations were dissected by a differential elution technique into three fractions based on the degree of their attachment to peat. Community composition was surveyed with T-RFLP (HhaI, MspI, and RsaI). The fragments were further attributed to freely-dispersed (FD), particle-associated (PA), or omnipresent (OMN) bacterial fractions. In both peats, bacterial communities have gradually shifted with the progress of diagenesis. In SP, numbers of exclusively FD or PA bacteria slightly decreased while in RSP their numbers more than doubled after 4-month incubation, and the number of OMN bacteria respectively decreased. The substantially greater changes in the spatial structure of RSP bacterial community compared to SP were consistent with the chemical transformations detected in these peats suggesting the diagenesis-driven divergence of RSP bacterial community into FD and PA sub-communities.  相似文献

The famous “Faustmann” equation, which allows for identifying the most profitable tree species on a given unstocked piece of land, assumes constant timber prices. In reality, timber prices may fluctuate dramatically. Several authors have proven for monocultures that waiting for an acceptable timber price (reservation price) before harvesting (flexible harvest policy) increases the net present value of forest management. The first part of this paper investigates how efficient a flexible harvest strategy may be applied in mixed forests and whether the optimal species mixture is changed under such harvest policy. Mixtures of the conifer Norway spruce [Picea abies (L.) Karst] and the broadleaf European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) were investigated. In order to evaluate mixed forests, the risks and the correlation of risks between tree species as well as the attitude towards risk of the decision-maker (risk-aversion is assumed) were considered according to the classical theory of optimal portfolio selection. In the second part we took up a recent critique on modern financial theory by Mandelbrot. Whether or not the assumption of normally distributed financial flows, which are supposed to occur under risk, would be appropriate to evaluate the risk of forest management was investigated. Market and hazard risks as well as their correlation were integrated in the evaluation of mixed forests by means of Monte-Carlo simulations (MCS). The risk of the timber price fluctuation was combined with the natural hazard risk, caused mainly by insects, snow and wind. Applying the μ-σ-rule, the mean net present value (NPV) from 1,000 simulations and their standard deviation were used for the optimisation. Given a low-return, risk-free interest rate to assess potential species mixtures of the Norway spruce and European beech, optimal proportions of European beech increased according to the theory of optimum portfolio selection with growing risk aversion from 0 (ignorance of risk) to 60% (great risk-aversion). In relation to a fixed harvest policy, the net present value of both, Norway spruce and European beech, could be increased significantly. Since the hazard risks of European beech were substantially lower compared with the Norway spruce (relation of susceptibility 1:4) beech benefited more from the flexible harvest policy. A comparison of simulated frequency distributions of the NPV with the expected density functions under the assumption of a normal distribution revealed significant differences. Only in the case of European beech was the general shape of the simulated frequency distribution similar to a normal distribution (bell-shaped curve). However, the density of NPV close to the mean was much greater than expected under the assumption of a normal distribution. Consequently, the frequency of a negative NPV for a European beech forest was greatly overestimated when applying the normal distribution. Though the shape of the simulated frequency distribution was rather different from a normal distribution for Norway spruce the simulated part of negative NPV was quite well approximated by the normal distribution. Therefore the simulated and expected frequencies of negative NPV were similar in case of Norway spruce; only a slight underestimation was seen in the assumption of a normal distribution. It can be concluded that actually simulated frequencies of negative NPV seem to be better measures for risk than computed probabilities of negative NPV, which assume normal distribution. As the risk for European beech was greatly overestimated by the conventional assumption of a normal distribution, the optimal proportions of European beech were surely rather underestimated according to the theory of portfolio. MCS on optimum mixtures derived by the classical portfolio theory seems necessary to test the robustness of such mixtures.
