Objective We aimed to examine the effects of cannabidiol (CBD)-containing hemp oil without delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) as a supplemental treatment for canine atopic dermatitis (CAD), as well as its adverse effects, and effects on concurrent drug use in dogs.Animal In this retrospective case series, 8 dogs with CAD were diagnosed by veterinary dermatologists certified by the Japanese Society of Veterinary Dermatology.Procedure The medical records of dogs supplemented with CBD-containing hemp oil were evaluated with respect to signalment, physical examination, plasma C-reactive protein concentrations, pharmacologic management, the CAD Extent and Severity Index (4th iteration), and the Pruritus Visual Analog Scale.Results Overall, CBD, used as a supplement in combination with other drugs, was well-tolerated over a wide dose range and decreased the occurrence of pruritus in dogs with CAD when ingested twice a day.Conclusion This study provides the first report of supplementation with CBD without THC that was effective in controlling pruritic behavior in dogs with CAD.Clinical relevance Further controlled studies are required to investigate the dose range, efficacy, and safety.  相似文献

The clay mineralogy of 22 samples of the Ap horizons of Ando soils was determined by a combination of methods. Of these samples, 15 did and 7 did not contain allophane and imogolite. Opaline silica was found in 4 samples, whereas aluminum—humus complexes, iron oxides and layer silicates were found in all samples. The presence of allophane and imogolite and the absence of opaline silica in a few Ap horizons was related to mixing of A1 horizons and subsoils by cultivation and to lower supplies of organic matter relative to the amounts of aluminum released from volcanic ash by weathering. The contents of 2:1 and 2:1:1 layer silicates and their intergrades were larger in soils in which quartz predominated in fine fractions. It was inferred that aluminum bound with humus and in allophane-like constituents, rather than aluminum in allophane and imogolite, is important in reactions with phosphate and fluoride.  相似文献

Authentic herbarium specimens of Gloeosporium carthami and G. chrysanthemi as well as live Colletotrichum strains from Carthamus tinctorius, Chrysanthemum coronarium var. spatiosum, and Calendula officinalis were judged to be conspecific based on morphological and molecular phylogenetic analyses. Representative strains from three asteraceous plants were demonstrated by inoculation tests to possess specific pathogenicity to the host plants. We propose a new combination, Colletotrichum carthami, for the anthracnose pathogen of the asteraceous plants, designating our specimen of G. carthami as its epitype. We characterize the species, which differs from the closely related Colletotrichum simmondsii in its pathogenicity and molecular characteristics.  相似文献

Understanding how molecules can restructure the surfaces of heterogeneous catalysts under reaction conditions requires methods that can visualize atoms in real space and time. We applied a newly developed aberration-corrected environmental transmission electron microscopy to show that adsorbed carbon monoxide (CO) molecules caused the {100} facets of a gold nanoparticle to reconstruct during CO oxidation at room temperature. The CO molecules adsorbed at the on-top sites of gold atoms in the reconstructed surface, and the energetic favorability of this reconstructed structure was confirmed by ab initio calculations and image simulations. This atomic-scale visualizing method can be applied to help elucidate reaction mechanisms in heterogeneous catalysis.  相似文献

This study histopathologically and immunohistochemically investigated a spontaneously occurring single mass subcutaneously located in the left lower abdomen of a female BALB/cAJcl−nu/+ mouse at 10 weeks of age. The mass was about 20 × 15 × 10 mm in size after formalin fixation; nevertheless, it was not detected by clinical observations at 9 weeks of age. H&E staining revealed the tumor origin was epithelial and probably arose from the mammary gland, and the tumor cells demonstrated a squamous, acinar or polyhedral/basal pattern. A cell kinetics analysis revealed that many of the tumor cells of the squamous, acinar or polyhedral/basal component were positive for PCNA and cyclin D1, although there were a few of TUNEL-positive tumor cells in all of the components. An epithelial/mesenchymal analysis demonstrated that most of the tumor cells of the squamous and acinar components contained keratin and E-cadherin; however, most of the tumor cells of the polyhedral/basal component were less or very weakly positive for these markers. The tumor cells of the squamous component were negative for vimentin and SMA; however, many of the tumor cells of the polyhedral/basal component exhibited vimentin. In addition, expression of SMA was confirmed in some tumor cells of the acinar and basal components. Based on the microscopic and immunohistochemical characterizations, the tumor was diagnosed to be adenosquamous carcinoma that originated from the mammary gland with rapid growth, and the tumor cells demonstrated epithelial-mesenchymal transition-like changes.  相似文献

Heartwood affects the utility of wood because it differs in some properties compared to sapwood. To regulate heartwood formation, its mechanism must be elucidated. However, the molecular basis underlying heartwood formation remains largely unknown. To obtain clues to understand the mechanism at a molecular level, we collected expressed sequence tags (ESTs) from the transition zone (TZ) of Cryptomeria japonica D. Don in November, in which heartwood formation is considered to proceed. A total of 1029 ESTs were assembled into 744 unique sequences (103 clusters and 641 singletons). Putative functions were assigned to 291 nuclear-encoded sequences, and they were grouped into 21 categories according to the eukaryotic orthologous groups functional classification. We selected 20 genes for enzymes or proteins, then examined their expression patterns among different organs. The expression levels of nine genes were higher in November than in June in the TZ. The genes encode two enzymes in glycolysis, invertase, methionine adenosyltransferase, glutathione transferase, the lipid transfer protein, Bet v 1 allergen, the dehydrin and the function-unknown protein. This study has provided the first large-scale EST information from the TZ of conifers, which will be useful for understanding the physiological processes in the TZ at a molecular level.  相似文献
