A new method for mass percentage determination of fructose and glucose based on FT-Raman spectroscopy is evaluated with a standard HPLC-based method. FT-Raman spectra manipulation is done via the spectrometer software, and a PLS (partial least squares) method is developed with the TQ Analyst software (Ver 1. 1a). The simultaneous quantitative determination uses an input range from 1700 to 700 cm(-1) without correction or baseline factors. The standards used in the PLS method are honey samples previously analyzed by HPLC to obtain their mass percentage concentrations in fructose and glucose. The returned results are statistically tested with those of the HPLC method. Both methods appear to score equally in terms of reproducibility. The honey content of the two sugars in total was found up to 40-74%. The honey samples content in fructose and glucose was determined by HPLC (24.1-42.9% and 16.2-33.1%, respectively) and FT-Raman (24.0-40.8% and 21.1-32.2%, respectively).  相似文献

The Fourier transform Raman (FT-Raman) spectra of pure terpenes and essential oils obtained by hydrodistillation of some Lamiaceae species, are presented. This study shows that principal components of an essential oil can be recognized by FT-Raman. Components predicted by FT-Raman spectrum of an essential oil correlate well with those found as major constituents by GC-MS. In this way the basic chemical character of an essential oil can be recognized. The results demonstrate that certain Raman intensities can be correlated to specific terpenes and therefore FT-Raman can discriminate between the essential oils of which main components belong to different classes of compounds.  相似文献

The peach twig borer Anarsia lineatella is the most common pest threat of peaches worldwide. This work studies for the first time, the fruit damage patterns inside organic peach orchards using geostatistical methods. A linear semivariogram model provides the best fit among candidates’ linear and non-linear models based on the RSS and r2. Moreover, the shape of the linear model approaches the pure nugget effect model, with a very low correlation between samples regardless of the distance of separation. This suggests either that the caused damage is to a high degree randomly or uniformly distributed, or, that autocorrelation may be present in distance lower than the measured distance of the study orchards. The linear model has been used for Kriging interpolation to simulate the spatial distribution of fruit damage and to indicate hot spots of high pest activity. According to the linear interpolation model, the simulated percentage of damage ranged from 12% to 28% during an observation period of three years. Moreover, slight border effects were observed during the first two years of observation suggesting possible entry of individuals from nearby orchards.  相似文献

We evaluated the Malicki and Walczak model (MW) and its appropriately modification (MMW) in the prediction of the electrical conductivity of the soil solution (σp), utilizing the WET dielectric sensor. In the MMW approach, the prediction of σp requires determination of the WET‐based salinity index (Xs) and clay and sand contents of the soil. MMW appears to be more effective than MW in all cases except for the cases of finer soils when σp > 3 dS m?1.  相似文献

Interception loss represents an important factor of water balance. The reduction of interception loss through silvicultural treatments to the benefit of water yield is very important for countries with large periods of limited rainfall like Greece. In the context of climate change and its possible effects on water availability, oak ecosystems can play a significant role in water production, as they comprise the largest part of the forested area in Greece. The objective of this study is to investigate the relationships between water interception changes, as a result of different forest management treatments, and water yield. For this reason, experimental watersheds have been established for the study of the hydrological impacts of thinning and clearcutting in an oak ecosystem in northern Greece. Two watersheds were used as control while different combinations of thinning (removal 50% of basal area) and clearcutting treatments were used in the other three study watersheds. Canopy annual interception amounted for 9.0%, 6.7% and 1.8% of the total precipitation in the untreated, thinned and clearcut plots respectively. The practiced thinning and clearcutting operations increased the available amount of water by a mean annual average of 13.2 mm and 42.8 mm respectively compared to the control watersheds. The total water surplus represented 29.5%, 30.9% and 33.9% of the average annual precipitation for the control, thinned and clearcut plot respectively. Surface flow was very low even during large rainfall events, possibly due to the soil and bedrock attributes and the topography of the area. Analogous silvicultural treatments can increase water availability but they should incorporate reduced-impact logging and skidding practices and thus cause the least possible soil disturbance, by carefully selecting the best suited wood harvesting systems and methods.  相似文献

We studied the damage caused to unfelled trees during skidding operations in four beech stands of northern and central Greece that were managed under differing harvesting systems.After timber was harvested we recorded and analyzed all damage to a width of 2 m along both sides of the skid trails.The percentage of damaged residual trees was 17–28 %.Higher numbers of saplings were uprooted or destroyed in parts of the stands with high natural regeneration.Most damaged trees suffered 1.33–1.90 wounds that were inflicted up to a height of 1 m above ground level.At all sites mean wound sizes were large,89–1190 cm2,and caused elevated risk of future fungal infection.The damage caused by skidding during timber harvesting can be minimized by better planning the harvest operations,and training forest workers in reduced impact logging.  相似文献

Safranal (2,6,6-trimethyl-1,3-cyclohexadiene-1-carboxaldehyde) is the main component of saffron's essential oil. It was obtained using microsimultaneous hydro distillation-extraction (MSDE) and by ultrasound-assisted extraction (USE), which is a mild method. 4-Hydroxy-2,6,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexene-1-carboxaldehyde (HTCC) is a precursor of safranal and was obtained in considerable amounts only by USE. Five C(13)-norisoprenoids were found in saffron for the first time. Using a gas chromatography technique, safranal and HTCC were quantified from Greek saffron samples. The quantity of safranal isolated by MSDE ranged between 288.1 and 687.9 mg/100 g of saffron, whereas in the case of USE safranal and HTCC ranged between 40.7 and 647.7 mg/100 g of saffron and between 41.7 and 397.7 mg/100 g of saffron, respectively. Freeze-drying was also tested as an alternative drying method. Over years of storage at 4 degrees C the quantity of safranal remained mostly constant while the quantity of HTCC decreased over the same periods.  相似文献

Glycoconjugates are known to be involved in many physiological events in vertebrates. Sialidase is one of the glycosidases, which removes sialic acid from glycoconjugates. In mammals, the properties and physiological functions of sialidases have been investigated, while there is little understanding of fish sialidase. Here, to investigate the significance of fish neu4 sialidase, neu4 gene was cloned from medaka brain mRNA and identified. Sialidase-specific motifs (GPG, YRVP and Asp-Box) were well conserved in the medaka neu4 polypeptide. Optimal pH of medaka neu4 sialidase was 4.6, but its activity was sustained even at neutral and weak alkaline pH. The neu4 considerably cleaved sialic acid from 4-methylumbelliferyl-N-acetyl-α-d-neuraminic acid and sialyllactose, but not from ganglioside and fetuin, which are good substrates for human NEU4. neu4 activity was mostly detected in mitochondria/lysosome fraction after biochemical fractionation, and indirect immunofluorescence assays revealed neu4 localization in lysosome in neu4 overexpressed cells. Next, developmental change in medaka neu4 and other sialidase mRNA levels were estimated by real-time PCR. Each sialidases showed different expression patterns in embryonic development: neu4 was up-regulated at late developmental stage in embryo, and neu3a mRNA level was quite high in 0.5 dpf. On the other hand, neu3b expression was drastically increased after hatching, suggesting that each sialidase may play a different role in embryonic development.  相似文献

Two experimental procedures were used to determine both hydraulic properties, soil water retention θ(h) curve and unsaturated hydraulic conductivity K(θ), of a sand sample. Knowledge of hydraulic properties is essential, since they generally control soil water dynamics. A steady-state laboratory method was used for the simultaneous determination of θ(h) and K(θ). A one-step outflow method was used for the determination of diffusivity D(θ) and subsequently K(θ) from soil water retention data which were measured independently on the same sample and using the same apparatus. The comparison of K(θ) measured values from the above-mentioned methods showed very good agreement of the results. Also, the comparison between the experimental K(θ) and θ(h) functions and the predictions obtained using retention curve (RETC) code by simultaneous fit of experimental soil water retention and hydraulic conductivity data from outflow data, assuming the Mualem-van Genuchten model, showed very good agreement. It is noted that the main disadvantage of the one-step outflow method is the weakness to predict K(θ) values near saturation. This disadvantage could be overcome using RETC code with the above procedures, since the K(θ) values between the predictive approach and the steady-state method were similar.  相似文献

BACKGROUND

Farmers' compliance with common safety practices in pesticide use (i.e., keeping records of pesticide applications, reading the information of pesticide labels, and taking protective measures during pesticide handling) and the use of information sources about pesticides were studied in a simple random sample of farmers in Evros Province, northern Greece.

RESULTS

According to the three common safety practices considered in the study, most farmers (56.9%) complied with safety practices. Nevertheless, a noticeable proportion of the farmers never kept records of pesticide applications (33.9%), never read the information of pesticide labels (20.2%), and never took protective measures during pesticide handling (24.8%). Farmers reported using up to six different sources of information about pesticides, but the majority (51.4%) reported using up to one source and almost one-third (33.9%) relied on own sources. The most common information source about pesticides was the staff of the agricultural supply stores, used by 88.1% of the farmers. Safety behavior was positively correlated with total sources of information (P < 0.01) and information by the agricultural supply stores (P < 0.01). Multiple regression analysis showed that safety behavior was reduced in females, whereas it was increased in farmers with high education, high number of plots, and high level of information sources.

CONCLUSION

Despite good levels of safety behavior by most farmers, keeping records of sprayings should be improved. Using multiple information sources about pesticides is crucial to improve safety behavior of farmers. © 2023 The Authors.
