Uterine adenoacanthoma, a subtype of primary endometrial adenocarcinoma, was found in a tissue specimen removed during ovariohysterectomy from an 8-year-old German Shepherd dog. Multifocal, benign squamous metaplastic islands were identified in the parenchyma of the malignant endometrial tumour. The tumour was highly infiltrative but did not metastasise to other organs. Detailed immunohistochemical analyses were carried out in order to characterise the immunophenotype of the tumour.  相似文献

Enterococcus cecorum is the most frequently occurring enterococcal species in the intestine of chickens of over 12 weeks of age, and there are few reports on its isolation from the skeleton of broiler parent chicks. In the present study, observations on vertebral osteomyelitis and spondylolisthesis ('kinky back syndrome') showing high incidence in 8 broiler parent flocks in different parts of Hungary are summarised. Clinical signs were seen only in roosters between 5 and 13 weeks of age. Diseased birds were alert and remained sitting on their hocks with their feet slightly raised off the ground. Incidence of the disease among male birds ranged from 8% to 30% depending on flocks. Enlargement and distortion of the body of the 6th vertebra were seen as the main pathological lesions. The cavity of the spinal canal was constricted by the distorted vertebral bodies. Resorption of bone tissue and sequestrum formation, signs of increased osteoclast activity, proliferation of fibrotic tissues, infiltration with heterophils and formation of sclerotic layers were detected in the vertebral bodies. From all 24 samples collected from the vertebral lesions, Enterococcus cecorum was isolated and identified using metabolic fingerprinting as well as 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Demonstration of E. cecorum from the vertebral lesions in all examined broiler breeder roosters showing the same clinical and pathological findings in different flocks suggested the pathogenic role of this microorganism for the first time in Hungary.  相似文献

Claudin-5 is an endothelium-specific tight junction protein. The aim of the present study was to detect the expression pattern of this molecule in intact pancreatic tissues and in well-differentiated and poorly differentiated pancreatic acinar cell carcinomas from dogs by the use of cross-reactive humanised anticlaudin-5 antibody. The necropsy samples taken from dogs included 10 nonneoplastic pancreatic tissues, 10 well-differentiated pancreatic acinar cell carcinomas, 10 poorly differentiated pancreatic acinar cell carcinomas, 5 intrahepatic metastases of well-differentiated and 5 intrahepatic metastases of poorly differentiated acinar cell carcinomas. A strong lateral membrane claudin-5 positivity was detected in exocrine cells in all intact pancreas samples. The endocrine cells of the islets of Langerhans and the epithelial cells of the ducts were negative for claudin-5. The endothelial cells of vessels and lymphatic channels in the stroma of the intact pancreas showed strong membrane positivity for this claudin. All well-differentiated exocrine pancreas carcinomas and all poorly-differentiated pancreatic acinar cell carcinoma samples showed a diffuse loss of claudin-5 expression. The claudin-5-positive peritumoural vessels and lymphatic channels facilitated the detection of vascular invasion of the claudin-5-negative cancer cells. In liver metastasis samples, the pancreatic carcinomas were negative for claudin-5. It seems that the loss of expression of claudin-5 may lead to carcinogenesis in canine exocrine pancreatic cells.  相似文献

The potential of tropical earthworms as bio-indicators of forest degradation by human-induced activities was assessed at a landscape level in the Ivory Coast. The study site covered 400 ha and was characterized by a set of land-use types along a gradient of perturbation from semi-deciduous forest, through reforestation, fallow systems to cultivated annual crops. Samples were taken on a grid at each sampling point and earthworms were hand-sorted from a 25 × 25 × 30-cm soil monolith. Results showed a potential increase in relative populations (number: +53.1%, biomass: +94.8%) of species in the earthworm communities following forest conversion. Furthermore, the impact of land-use change was higher in relation to land-use intensification in terms of earthworm populations and diversity in intermediate-disturbed systems (Multispecies plantations, old fallows). Earthworm diversity was the most sensitive response to land-use change. The species Dichogaster saliens Beddard 1893, Hyperiodrilus africanus Beddard 1891, Millsonia omodeoi Sims 1986, Dichogaster baeri Sciacchitano 1952, Dichogaster ehrhardti Michaelsen 1898, Agastrodrilus sp., Stuhlmannia palustris Omodeo and Vaillaud 1967 and, to some extent, Millsonia sp. appeared to be most sensitive to land-use change. More field and laboratory investigations are needed to find out the most efficient species to be used in bio-monitoring programmes aimed at preventing ecosystem degradation due to anthropogenic activities in the forest areas of Ivory Coast.  相似文献

Phylogenetic analysis of 22 Black queen cell virus (BQCV) genotypes collected from honeybee colonies in Poland, Austria and Hungary was performed on a partial helicase enzyme coding region (ORF1) and on a partial structural polypeptide coding region (ORF2). While the phylogeny based on the ORF2 region showed – with the exception of one strain from Poland – clustering of the genotypes corresponding to their geographic origin, the ORF1-based tree exhibited a completely different distribution of the Polish strains: three of them clustered within a branch clearly separated from all other central European BQCVs, while four other Polish strains remained well within the central European BQCV genotypes. In order to investigate this discrepancy in more detail, the nearly complete genome sequences of the three differing Polish strains were determined, together with one Hungarian sample. The sequences were aligned to each other and to the reference strain from South-Africa. Comparison of the different genome regions revealed that the 5′-UTR and the intergenic regions of the BQCV genome are highly conserved with longer homologous sections. ORF1 (non-structural protein coding region) was found more variable compared to ORF2 (structural protein coding region). The 5′-proximal third of ORF1 was particularly variable and contained several deletions/insertions. The sudden changes in the similarity levels of BQCV strains in different genomic regions are indicative of preceding recombination events.  相似文献

A postweaning pig died in spite of antibiotic therapy showing wasting in a small herd. Postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) was diagnosed on the basis of gross pathological and histological lesions and the presence of moderate amounts of porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2) antigen in tissue samples. Mycotic gastritis caused by Zygomycetes spp. was found on round areas with a diameter of 1 to 3 cm in the glandular mucosa of the stomach. Moderate amount of PCV2 viral antigen was detected almost evenly in the stomach and mostly in the macrophages. In addition, acute uraemia, revealed by an ammonia-like stink of the gastric mucosa and the presence of acute erosions on the glandular mucosa of the stomach, was observed as a consequence of PCV2-induced interstitial nephritis. Only PCV2 infection could be identified as a cause of secondary mycotic gastritis. The results further support the immunosuppressive ability of PCV2 infection in PMWS-affected pigs.  相似文献

Rangelands with scattered trees are complex and dynamic systems with a long history in Europe. Generally referred to as “wood-pastures,” they are considered to have outstanding conservation value. Thorny shrubs are important for supporting the biodiversity of these wooded rangelands, as well as facilitating the regeneration of trees by acting as nurse species. We assess the direct effects of temporary shrub encroachment under the cover of mature sparse trees on overall plant and habitat diversity. We surveyed the herb layer of the main landscape features of a wood-pasture: open pasture, trees with a grass understory, trees with shrubs, and adjacent forest edges. The herb layer under trees with shrubs resembled that of forest edges more than open pastures and trees with grass. Trees with grass had a higher cover of ruderal species than trees with shrubs, while forest edges and open pastures had a lower cover of them. Forest species were absent from open pastures but were well represented in the other sites. The herb layer of trees with shrubs and forest edges had similar cover values, while trees with grass had a significantly lower cover of herbs than the other types. Trees with shrubs had higher species richness than any of the other three landscape features and had a much higher proportion of diagnostic species. We conclude that the scattered trees and shrubs of the studied silvopastoral system have additive facilitative effects on their understory, probably through modifying the microenvironment and grazing pressure, leading to the formation of temporary diversity hot spots with distinct vegetation. Thus maintaining a moderate level of shrub-encroachment under sparse trees is recommended for not only creating safe havens for tree recruitment but also increasing the overall species and habitat diversity of wood-pastures.  相似文献

The genetic background of Fusarium head blight (FHB) resistance in the moderately resistant wheat variety Frontana was investigated in the GK Mini Manó/Frontana DH population (n = 168). The plant material was evaluated across seven epidemic environments for FHB, Fusarium-damaged kernel (FDK) and deoxynivalenol (DON) contents caused by two Fusarium species (F. culmorum and F. graminearum). The effects of phenotypic traits such as plant height and heading date were also considered in the experiments. In the population, 527 polymorph markers (DArT, SSR) within a distance of 1,381 cM distance were mapped. The quantitative trait locus/loci (QTL) on chromosomes 4A and 4B demonstrated a significant linkage only with FHB, while QTL on chromosomes 3A, 4B, 7A and 7B were linked to DON accumulation alone. Regions determining all the investigated Fusarium resistance traits were identified on chromosomes 1B, 2D, 3B, 5A, 5B and 6B. The markers in these regions are of the greatest significance from the aspect of resistance breeding. Our results indicate that the genetic background of resistance against FHB, FDK and DON accumulation can differ, and all these traits should be taken under consideration during resistance tests. Moreover, this is the first report on the mapping of Frontana-derived QTL that influence DON accumulation, which is important since the level of DON contamination determines the actions of the food and feed industries. Selection should therefore also focus on this trait by using molecular markers linked to DON content.  相似文献

Claudins are integral membrane proteins involved in the structure of the tight junctions found in epithelial and endothelial cells. This study evaluated the expression of claudin‐5 in 67 hyperplastic and neoplastic lesions of canine hepatoid glands. These included normal hepatoid glands (n = 10), nodular hyperplasia (n = 10), adenomas (n = 12), epitheliomas (n = 15), differentiated carcinomas (n = 15) and anaplastic carcinomas (n = 15). There was intense lateral membrane expression of claudin‐5 on epithelial cells from normal hepatoid glands, nodular hyperplasia and adenomas, but expression was weaker in hepatoid gland epitheliomas. Basal reserve cells from normal glands, nodular hyperplasia, adenomas and epitheliomas never expressed claudin‐5. There was membrane‐bound immunoreactivity for claudin‐5 in selected areas of the epitheliomas where the cells exhibited typical hepatoid features. The weak expression of claudin‐5 molecule in epitheliomas may nevertheless lead to cellular disorientation, detachment and invasion. Claudin‐5 expression seemed to be helpful in distinguishing poorly differentiated carcinomas, differentiated carcinomas and epitheliomas of the hepatoid glands. Increased claudin‐5 expression by invasive anaplastic carcinomas may facilitate invasion and metastasis through the activation of matrix metalloproteinases.  相似文献
