Integrated evaluation of soil physical properties using the least limiting water range (LLWR) approach may allow a better knowledge of soil water availability. We determined the LLWR for four tillage practices consisted of conventional tillage (CT), reduced tillage (RT), no-tillage (NT) and fallow no-tillage (NTf). In addition, LLWR was determined for abandoned soils (i.e. control), compacted soils, ploughed compacted soils and abandoned soils with super absorbent polymers (SAPs) application. Soil water retention, penetration resistance (PR), air-filled porosity and bulk density were determined for the 0–5 and 0–25-cm depths. Mean LLWR (0.07–0.08 cm3 cm?3) was lower in compacted soils than the soils under CT, NT, NTf, RT, tilled, abandoned and SAP practices but it was not different among tillage practices. The values of LLWR were 0.12 cm3 cm?3 for NT and CT. LLWR for tilled plots (0.12 cm3 cm?3) became greater than compacted soils by 1.3 times. Analysis of the lower and upper limits of the LLWR further indicated that PR was the only limiting factor for soil water content, but aeration was not a limiting factor. The LLWR was more dependent on soil water content at permanent wilting point and at PR.  相似文献

Land evaluation is the process of land performance predictions over time based on land uses and soil features. Traditional methods in determining soil features are proved to be time-consuming and costly. Therefore, in order to overcome these limitations, a simpler automated method using the image segmentation was developed in this study. The method was designed by integrating dynamic region merging and genetic algorithm. An area index was calculated for each soil profile using the automated method. It was used to present the amount of soil coarse particles and thereupon to determine the rating value of text-structure. Using the method, the mean intersection over union of above 0.7 was obtained for detecting the coarse particles which confirms its suitability. Data analysis showed that (a) compared to the Storie-land index (R2 = 0.71), the Square root-land index was more correlated to the harvest index (R2 = 0.73), and (b) comparing to manual methods, not only the automated text-structure had a higher correlation with the harvest index (R2 = 0.64) but also it decreased the determination time (>3.75 times). Furthermore, among the models developed by response surface methodology for estimation of soil features, the developed model for estimation of soil lime showed the highest accuracy (R2 = 0.89). In conclusion, since the developed method is more accurate, more economic and faster than the usual manual methods, it can be widely used in land suitability evaluation.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to compare invasive and non-invasive strains of Shigella flexneri isolated from Tehran by a 120 kDa protein band by SDS-PAGE, electron microscopy of cell culture and Congo red dye methods. METHODS: S. flexneri strains were isolated by standard bacterial methods from fecal specimens of children attending to the 3 children's hospitals. Phenotype analysis for screening virulent of strains of S. flexneri was done on a plate of tryptic soy agar contained 0.003% Congo red dye. Whole membrane protein preparations were used to examine the protein profiles of the inner and outer membrane of these Gram-negative bacteria. The protein mixture was electrophoresed through a polyacrylamide gel. The gel was stained with Coomassie brilliant blue R250 and destained with ethanol and acetic acid. HeLa cell culture was done by two-step preparations: one for light microscopy and the other for electron microscopy. RESULTS: Some of S. flexneri (46%) were Congo red positive colonies. S. flexneri with negative Congo red phenotype could not enter the HeLa cell culture. A 120 kDa protein band was found in 46% of these bacteria which could enter into HeLa cell culture. Pseudopod structures which facilitate bacterial cell-to-cell spread were readily identified by electron microscopy. DISCUSSION: Since the existence of 120-kDa protein band was corresponded to enter of S. flexneri into the HeLa cell culture and correlated with Congo red dye positive, for identification of invasive and non-invasive S. flexneri strains, the use of a 120-kDa protein band by SDS-PAGE or a simple, rapid and very cheap Congo red dye method is recommended. Because, there are some deaths due to Shigella sp. in our country, notification on the isolation of these bacteria in both children hospitals laboratories and private clinical laboratories is important.  相似文献

Four parents [P. acutifolius var.acutifolius (A19), P. a.var. latifolius `Serowi' (A9),P. a. var. latifolius(A10), and P. vulgaris `Red Cloud' kidney (V1)] were used to create six interspecific recurrent and congruity backcross pedigrees (V1 × A9, A9 × V1, V1 × A10, A10 × V1, V1 × A19, A19 × V1) for evaluation of Rhizobium, Bradyrhizobium nodulation affinities and root peroxidase banding patterns. Most primary hybrids nodulated with all Rhizobium, Bradyrhizobium strains, while recurrent generations nodulated with strains of the recurrent parent, suggesting a number of independent loci and random assortment for strain-specific nodulation. A proximity matrix of nodulation phenotypes produced a cluster with V1, two recurrent and two congruity backcross hybrids with V1 as the cytoplasmic parent; a separate cluster with all primary interspecific and balanced, congruity backcross hybrids. A9 and A10were clustered the farthest away from V1. Root peroxidase zymograms of primary hybrids were the summation of the parents and controlled by independent loci. Advanced hybrids exhibited new root peroxidases, matching those found for otherPhaseolus spp., including ancestralP. coccineus. A proximity matrix of root peroxidase phenotypes produced a cluster with only A9 3V1F1, a cluster containing only A19 3V1 F2, and a large cluster with all P. acutifoliusparents and hybrids with P. acutifolius as the cytoplasmic parent in balanced hybrids or the majority parent in unbalanced hybrids. Estimation of genetic distances showed primary, interspecific hybrids to be more closely related with the cytoplasmic parent. Recurrent and congruity backcross generations varied in genetic distances between each respective parent. This is the first report of congruity backcrossing creating hybrids with biochemical traits of nonparental species. Changes in land use can significantly affect soil properties. This study was conducted in the Taleghan watershed of Tehran Province, Iran, to determine the effects of land use changes on soil organic matter (SOM) and soil physical properties including soil aggregate stability, saturated hydraulic conductivity, infiltration rate, available water content, total porosity and bulk density (BD). In the present study, two sites contained adjacent land uses of natural pasture and dryland farming were selected. Soil samples were taken from depths of 0–15 and 15–30 cm for each land use. The results indicated that the conversion of natural pasture to dryland farming led to a significant decrease in SOM at 0–30 cm in the first and second sites (24.7 and 44.2%, respectively). In addition, a significant increase in BD was observed at a depth of 0–30 cm in dryland farm soils (1.39 g cm–3) compared to pastureland (1.20 g cm–3) at the first site. An increase in BD was also observed at the same depth of dryland farm soils (1.46 g cm–3) and pastureland soils (1.42 g cm–3) at the second site. In addition, total porosity, mean‐weight diameter of aggregates, saturated hydraulic conductivity, available water content and estimated final infiltration rate showed significant differences between land uses. The results showed that the conversion of natural pasture to dryland farming alters soil properties that negatively affect soil productivity and erodibility. Graphene produced by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is polycrystalline, and scattering of charge carriers at grain boundaries (GBs) could degrade its performance relative to exfoliated, single-crystal graphene. However, the electrical properties of GBs have so far been addressed indirectly without simultaneous knowledge of their locations and structures. We present electrical measurements on individual GBs in CVD graphene first imaged by transmission electron microscopy. Unexpectedly, the electrical conductance improves by one order of magnitude for GBs with better interdomain connectivity. Our study suggests that polycrystalline graphene with good stitching may allow for uniformly high electrical performance rivaling that of exfoliated samples, which we demonstrate using optimized growth conditions and device geometry.  相似文献

The spinal nerve root origins of the cutaneous nerves innervating the canine pelvic limb were determined in 12 barbiturate-anesthetized, healthy dogs by stimulating the dorsal roots L1-S3 and recording the evoked-action potentials from each cutaneous nerve. The dogs were then euthanatized, identification of each dorsal root and cutaneous nerve was verified by dissection, and the type of lumbosacral plexus (prefixed, median fixed, or postfixed) was determined. With one exception, the dorsal cutaneous branches and lateral cutaneous branches of L1-L3 originated only from their corresponding spinal nerve roots. The genitofemoral nerve received afferent fibers predominantly from L3-L4 nerve roots. The lateral cutaneous femoral nerve originated from L3-L5 nerve roots, and the saphenous nerve from L4-L6 nerve roots. The proximal caudal cutaneous sural nerve originated from L6-S1. The lateral cutaneous sural nerve originated from L5-S1; the deep and superficial fibular nerves arose primarily from L6-L7. The distal caudal cutaneous sural nerve originated predominantly from L7-S1, and the medial cutaneous tarsal nerve originated from L6-S1. The medial plantar nerve originated predominantly from L6-S1 roots, whereas the lateral plantar nerve originated from L6-S2 roots. The middle clunial nerve received afferent fibers primarily from S1-S2; the caudal clunial nerve received fibers from S1-S3. The caudal cutaneous femoral nerve originated predominantly from L7-S2. The dorsal nerve of the penis originated predominantly from S1-S2, and the superficial perineal nerve originated from S1-S3. The aim of this research is to study the feasibility of removing nitrates from water by means of anion exchange. In the purposed work an attempt was made to utilize strong basic anion resin to remove nitrate in the presence of competitive anion. Amberjet Cl- 4200 ion exchange resin was used in a batch scale. The fixation rate of nitrate without the presences of any competitive anion was almost constant (94.60-96.43) when the nitrate concentrations are in the range of 100-150 mg L(-1). The fixation rate of nitrate in the presences of two competitive anions (sulphate and chloride) was reduced to 82% when the concentration of nitrate was 100 mg L(-1).  相似文献

Mycorrhiza can improve plant growth and increase nutrient uptake. This study was conducted as factorial experiment based on complete random design (CRD) to study effects of mycorrhiza inoculation under limited iron (Fe) condition on antioxidant activity, phenol content and photosynthesis trait of cucumber (Cucumis sativus cv. N3). Treatments were Johnson modified nutrient solution (MNS) with 25% Fe (MNS1) = 0.57 mg/L Fe, 50% (MNS2) = 1.14 mg/L Fe and 100% (MNS3) = 2.3 mg/L Fe and mycorrhiza inoculation (M+) and non-mycorrhiza inoculation (M?) with 3 replications under hydroponic conditions. The results showed that plant growth and shoot phenol content decreased in the MNS1 treatment; whereas phenol content of the root exudates and antioxidant activity significantly increased in this treatment. All photosynthesis attribute increased in the MNS3 treatment. Mycorrhiza inoculation increased plant growth, phenol content, antioxidant activity and photosynthesis trait of cucumber. Also, mycorrhiza inoculation enhanced SPAD value in the MNS2 treatment and photosynthesis rate, transpiration and mesophyll conductance in all the modified nutrient solutions. Moreover, mycorrhiza symbiosis was stimulated by the internal carbon dioxide (CO2) content of the stomata in the MNS2 and MNS3 treatments. Furthermore, Mycorrhiza inoculation improved phenol content of the shoots and roots in all the nutrient solutions, whereas antioxidant activity was affected by mycorrhiza inoculation only in the MNS2 treatment.  相似文献

Abstract

Can humic acid (HA) and glutamic acid (GA), when added to tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. cv. ‘Hongyangli’) nutrient solution in a hydroponic system, improve growth? Tomato seedlings were grown in six nutrient solutions: (1) control (C), (2) C + 25 mg L?1 HA (HA1); (3) C + 50 mg L?1 HA (HA2); (4) C + 100 mg L?1 GA; (5) HA1 + GA; (6) HA2 + GA. Various biochemical and physiological parameters were measured. HA increased photosynthesis rate and mesophyll conductance. HA did not significantly affect transpiration, stomatal conductance, titratable acidity, or antioxidant activity. In addition, GA improved protein and sugar content, mesophyll conductance and yield. The combination of HA and GA was more effective, especially with 50 mg L?1 HA. The activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidases (POD) did not change in the presence of HA or GA. Malondialdehyde (MDA) content increased by 30% in HA2 together with GA. HA has a positive effect on tomato hydroponic growth when applied with GA. This expands the use of HA and GA for horticultural commodities in hydroponic systems.  相似文献
