Several hundred thousand primordial follicles are present in the mammalian ovary, however, only 1% develop to the preovulatory stage and finally ovulate. The remainder will be eliminated via a degenerative process called ‘atresia’. The endocrinological regulatory mechanisms involved in follicular development and atresia have largely been characterized but the precise temporal and molecular mechanisms involved in the regulation of these events remain unknown. Many recent studies suggest that apoptosis in ovarian granulosa cells plays a crucial role in follicular atresia. Notably, death ligand‐receptor interaction and subsequent intracellular signaling have been demonstrated to be the key mechanisms regulating granulosa cell apoptosis. In this review we provide an overview of granulosa cell apoptosis regulated by death ligand‐receptor signaling. The roles of death ligands and receptors [Fas ligand (FasL)]‐Fas, tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα)‐TNF receptor and TNFα‐related apoptosis‐inducing ligand (TRAIL)‐TRAIL receptor (TRAILR)] and intracellular death‐signal mediating molecules (Fas‐associated death domain protein), TNF receptor 1‐associated death domain protein, caspases, apoptotic protease‐activating factor 1, TNFR‐associated factor 2 and cellular FLICE‐like inhibitory protein in granulosa cells are discussed. 相似文献

To elucidate the effects of hydrographic conditions on the migration and distribution of diamond squid ( Thysanoteuthis rhombus ) in the Sea of Japan, two numerical experiments were conducted using a Lagrangian particle-tracking model. First, Lagrangian simulations with different horizontal swimming speeds were conducted in the area off the San-in coast, the southwest Sea of Japan. The comparison results of simulations and experimental tagging records from 2003 suggest that horizontal movement of diamond squid over a few days is influenced by individual swimming, but long-term migration over more than about 10 days is dependent on the ambient current field. Secondly, further Lagrangian simulations with biological processes, forced by different hydrographic conditions in 2003–2005, were conducted. Temporal variations in distributions and sizes calculated by the model corresponded approximately to those of catch data. A large number of particles simulating squid were distributed over the nearshore region from the San-in coast to the Noto Peninsula during September–November every year. Differences in the migration route and distribution of particles among years were closely related to differences in hydrographic conditions such as the position of the main stream of the Tsushima Warm Current. Prediction of the catch off the San-in coast might be improved by considering hydrographic conditions in the southwest Sea of Japan. 相似文献

We performed a standing hand-assisted laparoscopic ovariectomy in a draft mare that presented with high serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) level and had an enlarged single cystic ovary. Histopathological examination revealed no tumor cell proliferation in the ovary, but the presence of a large ovarian cyst was confirmed. In the diagnosis of abnormal ovaries in mares, a comprehensive assessment should be performed, including the monitoring of ovarian morphology and biomarkers over time, to determine the disease prognosis and treatment plan. The case of this mare with a nonneoplastic abnormal ovary and increased serum AMH level was rare. We suggest that standing hand-assisted laparoscopic ovariectomy is useful for the removal of large ovaries in draft mares. 相似文献

This experiment was carried out to examine the effect of crushing unhulled rice and the addition of fermented juice of epiphytic lactic acid bacteria (FJLB) on the fermentation quality of whole crop rice silage, and its digestibility and rumen fermentation in sheep. After whole rice plants (Oryza sativa L. cv. Haenuki) were harvested between the yellow and full‐ripened period of maturity, and cut at a length of 2 cm, four silage treatments were set: (i) non‐treatment; (ii) crushing treatment of unhulled rice division (crushing); (iii) addition of 1% FJLB; and (iv) crushing + addition of 1% FJLB. Lactic acid content increased with the addition of FJLB, and was highest in the crushing + FJLB treatment. Digestibilities of crude fiber, acid detergent fiber and neutral detergent fiber were significantly higher during the crushing + FJLB treatment. There were no differences among treatments in the volatile fatty acid concentrations before and after feeding. At 4 h after feeding, however, the ratio of acetic acid : propionic acid was significantly lower with the addition of FJLB. It was proven that the fermented quality of silage was improved when FJLB was added to rice plants and then ensilaged, and the digestibility of the fibrous component was raised when unhulled rice division was crushed and FJLB was supplemented. 相似文献

Four Holstein steers fitted with duodenal cannula were used in a 4 × 4 Latin square design to investigate the effect of the combination of corn silage (CS) and alfalfa hay (AH) in different ratios on the ruminal and intestinal digestion of carbohydrates and feed particle passage rate. Steers were fed mixed diets containing both CS and AH in ratios of 80:20, 60:40, 40:60 and 20:80 on a dry matter basis at 95% of ad libitum feed intake. The increase of AH proportion in diets increased dry matter intake and ruminal digestion of dry matter, non-fiber carbohydrate, neutral and acid detergent fiber linearly. Ruminal digestibility of neutral detergent fiber showed a quadratic response, and total digestibility increased linearly with increasing AH proportion. Digestibility of acid detergent fiber in the rumen was not affected by the dietary treatments, but the total tract digestibility increased as the AH proportion increased. Mean retention time of feed particles in total compartment increased when the AH proportion increased from 20% to 60%, but decreased with further increase of the AH proportion. These results indicate that moderate combinations of CS and AH have an associative effect on ruminal fiber digestion, modifying particle movement in the rumen. 相似文献
