Selenium (Se) is an essential micronutrient for humans and animals, and also affects plant metabolism. In this study, the effects of increasing doses of Se application on the uptake of selenium (Se), nitrogen (N), and sulfur (S) content of three barley cultivars were investigated. The analysis indicated that the Se contents were highest in root tissues, intermediate in grain, and lowest in stem tissues in all cultivars. Total Se accumulations (whole plant) were highest in ‘Bülbül 89’ (0.171 mg kg?1), intermediate in ‘Çetin 2000’ (0.153 mg kg?1), and lowest in ‘Tarm 92’ cultivars (0.124 mg kg?1). In all cultivars, the increase in grain Se content resulted in a decrease in the grain N content. While ‘Bülbül 89’ can be suggested for biofortification purposes, less Se accumulating ‘Tarm 92’ cultivar can be suggested as a fodder in Se contaminated or high Se containing areas.  相似文献

The emergence of Fusarium wilt, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. fragariae, as a problem for strawberry production in California has been associated with delivery of fumigants to beds through drip-lines rather than flat-fumigation of an entire field. Our research shows that bed fumigation fails to eliminate propagules of the Fusarium wilt pathogen, which remain particularly abundant in bed shoulders at a depth of 30 cm. Controlled environment studies confirmed that inoculum at this depth could cause disease. Screening of currently grown strawberry cultivars documented a wide range of susceptibilities to Fusarium wilt, with some being highly resistant.  相似文献

Methane consumption by temperate forest soils is a major sink for this important greenhouse gas, but little is known about how tree species influence CH4 uptake by soils. Here, we show that six common tree species in Siberian boreal and temperate forests significantly affect potential CH4 consumption in laboratory microcosms. Overall, soils under hardwood species (aspen and birch) consumed CH4 at higher rates than soils under coniferous species and grassland. While NH4+ addition often reduces CH4 uptake, we found no effect of NH4+ addition, possibly because of the relatively high ratio of CH4-to-NH4+ in our incubations. The effects of soil moisture strongly depended on plant species. An increase in soil moisture enhanced CH4 consumption in soils under spruce but had the opposite effect under Scots pine and larch. Under other species, soil moisture did not affect CH4 consumption. These results could be explained by specific responses of different groups of CH4-oxidizing bacteria to elevated moisture.  相似文献

This study aimed to evaluate onion accessions regarding their resistance to Thrips tabaci Lindeman, in order to enable the development of cultivars that are resistant to this pest. The experiments were carried out without chemical control, in a randomized block design with three replications, in Petrolina, PE and Juazeiro, BA. Six evaluations of thrips populations were carried out starting 15 days after transplanting, each one after 7 days. Simple correlations were estimated among all variables. Statistical differences were observed for the number of adults in different evaluations, while the number of nymphs showed no statistical differences. The largest average yields of commercial bulbs were observed for ‘Vale Ouro IPA 11?, ‘BRS Alfa São Francisco’, ‘Franciscana IPA 10? and ‘Sirius F1? while ‘Red Creole’, ‘Creole Mercosul’ and ‘Conquista’ had the lowest yield. The bulb commercial yield had simple negative correlations with nymph degree of infestation (DI) in the four evaluation phases and adult DIs at 22 days. Negative correlations between commercial bulb yield and central angle of the plant were observed, indicating that plants with higher bulb yield have a lower angle of the central leaves. The results of the study suggest that the resistance mechanism is due mainly to tolerance to the pest.  相似文献

A number of substituted 2,2-dimethyl-6-arylidene-1-triazol-1-ylmethylcyclohexanols and 2,2-dimethyl-6-arylidene-1-imidazol-1-ylmethylcyclohexanols were prepared from 2-methylcyclohexanone in four steps: Claisen–Schmidt condensation with substituted benzaldehydes, methylation of the resulting 2-methyl-6-benzylidenecyclohexanones, conversion to the oxiranes by interaction with dimethylsulfonium methylide and reaction of the oxiranes with triazole or imidazole. The compounds obtained were tested for antifungal activity against five phytopathogenic fungi of different taxonomic classes. EC50 values were determined for all compounds. Structure–activity relationships are discussed in broad terms. Some of triazolymethyl-substituted cyclohexanols obtained are more active than triadimenol. © 1997 SCI.  相似文献

Litchi fruits are fumigated after harvest with sulfur dioxide (SO2) to prevent their rapid browning. SO2 blocks enzymatic activity but bleaches the fruits and, if this process is followed by dipping the fruit in dilute hydrochloric acid, the appealing red color is regained. Hot water brushing (HWB) is among the alternative methods that were developed to replace the use of SO2. HWB reduced fungal population size on the surface of the fruit peel after treatment but did not eliminate fruit infection after storage. Whereas untreated fruits were infected with a variety of fungal species,Penicillium sp. was the only fungus that developed on the pericarp after storage in fruits that had been dipped in 1.5M HCl. Fruit treated by HWB followed by handling and storage under sterile conditions suffered greater decay than fruit stored under non-sterile conditions but with more ventilation. APenicillium sp. isolated from litchi grew well in liquid medium acidified to the pH range reported for SO2 and HCl-treated litchi fruits. Morphological analysis identified fungal isolates asP. aurantiogriseum. Internal transcribed spacer sequence analysis of five isolates suggested a sequence similarity toP. commune. ABSTRACT

Finding effective non-fumigant solutions to soil disinfestation is an international priority for sustainable strawberry production. In these studies at Ventura, California, combinations of steam, solarization, and mustard meal were evaluated to manage troublesome soil-borne pathogens: Macrophomia phaseolina and Fusarium oxysporum. Treatments containing steam and solarization reduced levels of these pathogens in soil 70–96% compared to untreated soil and had lower rates of late season pathogen-related plant mortality. All treatments improved plant canopy growth and fruit production of ‘San Andreas’ strawberry 58% to 83% compared to untreated control. Even though these treatments did not eradicate pathogen spores and sclerotia in soil, they enhanced early and whole season fruit production and when feasible can be applied in non-fumigated and organic strawberry fields to help sustain production.  相似文献

The results of EFIMOD simulations for black spruce (Picea mariana [Miller]) forests in Central Canada show that climate warming, fire, harvesting and insects significantly influence net primary productivity (NPP), soil respiration (Rs), net ecosystem production (NEP) and pools of tree biomass and soil organic matter (SOM). The effects of six climate change scenarios demonstrated similar increasing trends of NPP and stand productivity. The disturbances led to a strong decrease in NPP, stand productivity, soil organic matter (SOM) and nitrogen (N) pools with an increase in CO2 emission to the atmosphere. However the accumulated NEP for 150 years under harvest and fire fluctuated around zero. It becames negative only at a more frequent disturbance regime with four forest fires during the period of simulation. The results from this study show that changes in climate and disturbance regimes might substantially change the NPP as well as the C and N balance, resulting in major changes in the C pools of the vegetation and soil under black spruce forests.  相似文献
