The ethanol extract of Ceriops decandra leaf and pneumatophore, at the oral doses of 250 and 500 mg/kg, showed a dose-dependent and significant inhibition of acetic acid-induced writhing in mice. On the contrary, the bark extract was devoid of any significant activity.  相似文献

Several leaf traits of soybean (Glycine max L. Merr.), including leaf area (LA), leaf shape (LS) and specific leaf weight (SLW) may be related to soybean yield. The objective of this study was to identify novel quantitative trait loci (QTL) for LA, LS and SLW in a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population. The phenotype data were collected in 2011 and 2012 for 93 F7:10 RILs using a randomized complete block design with 2 replicates each year. Five hundred and sixteen single‐nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers and the phenotype data were used to detect QTL using single marker analysis (SMA) and composite interval mapping (CIM). Single markers analysis identified 26 QTL for the three traits, of which 17 were novel and the rests were previously reported QTL. Most of these QTL were also identified by CIM. Most QTL reported in this study were in close proximity (<1 cM) of one or more SNP markers. These publicly available SNP markers with close linkage to LA, LS and SLW should be useful for marker‐assisted breeding for these traits.  相似文献

Lolium and Festuca are two important genera of cool-season forage and turf grasses worldwide. Lolium temulentum L. (darnel ryegrass) has been proposed as a model species for genomics studies of cool-season forage and turf grasses. A study with 41 darnel ryegrass, three tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.), two tetraploid fescue (F. glaucescens), and two meadow fescue (F. pratensis) genotypes was initiated to (i) identify a set of microsatellite (simple sequence repeats) markers useful for L. temulentum L., and (ii) to utilize such markers for assessing the genetic variability of L. temulentum accessions collected from different geographical regions of the world. A total of 40 tall fescue (TF) EST-SSRs and 60 Festuca–Lolium (F × L) genomic SSRs were screened on a subset of eight genotypes. The selected 30 tall fescue EST-SSRs and 32 F × L genomic SSRs were used for further analysis of genotypes. The TF-EST- and the F × L genomic-SSRs identified 10.3 and 9.3 alleles per marker, respectively with an average polymorphic information content (PIC) value of 0.66. The phenogram based on 319 EST-SSR and 296 genomic SSR fragments, grouped L. temulentum accessions into three major clusters except for accession ABY-BA 8892.78. Lolium temulentum accession ABY-BA 8892.78 did not cluster with any other accession. The Festuca clusters were distantly related with darnel ryegrass clusters with a similarity coefficient of 0.26. The selected set of tall fescue EST- and F × L genomic SSRs were useful in assessing L. temulentum genetic diversity and could benefit the genetic improvement of members of the Festuca–Lolium complex.  相似文献

A framework linkage map comprising 214 molecular marker (SSR, AFLP, SAMPL) loci was prepared using an intervarietal recombinant inbred line (RIL) mapping population of bread wheat. The RIL population that was developed from the cross SPR8198 (red-grained and PHS tolerant genotype) × HD2329 (white-grained and PHS susceptible genotype) following single seed descent segregated for pre-harvest sprouting (PHS). The RIL population and parental genotypes were evaluated in six different environments and the data on PHS were collected. Using the linkage map and PHS data, genome-wide single-locus and two-locus QTL analyses were conducted for PHS tolerance (PHST). Single-locus analysis following composite interval mapping (CIM) detected a total of seven QTL, located on specific arms of five different chromosome (1AS, 2AL, 2DL, 3AL and 3BL). These seven QTL included two major QTL one each on 2AL and 3AL. Two of these seven QTL were also detected following two-locus analysis, which resolved a total of four main-effect QTL (M-QTL), and 12 epistatic QTL (E-QTL), the latter involved in 7 QTL × QTL interactions. Interestingly, none of these M-QTL and E-QTL detected by two-locus analysis was involved in Q × E and Q × Q × E interactions, supporting the results of ANOVA, where genotype × environment interaction were non-significant. The QTL for PHS detected in the present study may be efficiently utilized for marker-aided selection for enhancing PHST in bread wheat.  相似文献

Soybean accounts for over a quarter of the world's oilseed consumption and over 70% of the world's protein meal consumption. The separate development of high oleic, low linolenic acid (HOLL) soybean and high-protein (HP) soybean means that no soybean cultivar on the market has an optimal fatty acid profile and increased protein. The objective of this study was to develop and evaluate high protein, high oleic acid, and low linolenic acid (HP-HOLL) soybean. A five-gene stack was created using a two-phase forward breeding scheme and marker-assisted selection method. Forty-six HP-HOLL lines from three genetic backgrounds were grown in six environments in the Southeast United States. Although genotype-by-environment interaction was significant for seed composition traits, lines met the >75% and <3% cutoffs for oleic acid and linolenic acid, respectively, and met or exceeded the protein concentration of the HP parent. No negative interaction could be detected between the HP and HOLL traits. Additionally, yield testing in four environments indicated yield parity for some lines, suggesting HP and HOLL soybean cultivars with high yield could be selected.  相似文献

Jute is one of the most important fibre crops, which is second only to cotton in providing environment-friendly (biodegradable and renewable) ligno-cellulose fibre. In order to improve this largely neglected crop, we conducted a preliminary study involving the following: (i) analysis of nature and extent of the genetic variability for fibre yield and four other related traits in a set of 81 genotypes belonging to two commercially cultivated Corchorus species (45 genotypes of C. olitorius + 36 genotypes of C. capsularis), (ii) development and analysis of a set of simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers from C. olitorius, and (iii) use of a sub-set of SSRs for assessment of genetic diversity in the above set of 81 genotypes. The results suggested quantitative nature of fibre yield and other related traits, with a preponderance of dominance component in genetic variance. A sub-set of 45 SSRs derived from C. olitorius, when used for a study of DNA polymorphism and genetic diversity, showed high transferability of these C. olitorius SSRs to C. capsularis. The average number of alleles for individual SSRs was surprisingly low (3.04 for both species, 2.02 for C. capsularis and 2.51 for C. olitorius), and so was the average polymorphic information content (PIC; 0.23 and 0.24 in two species). In the dendrogram obtained using a similarity matrix, the 81 genotypes were grouped into three clusters, which largely corresponded to the two species, Cluster I belonging mainly to C. capsularis and the other two closely related clusters (clusters II and III) belonging to C. olitorius. It was also shown that a minimum of 15 SSRs could give the same information as 41 SSRs, thus making many SSRs redundant. The SSR markers developed during the present study and to be developed in future will prove useful not only for evaluation of genetic diversity, but also for molecular mapping/QTL analysis, and for comparative genome analysis of the two Corchorus species. The methanolic extracts of the barks and pneumatophores of Xylocarpus moluccensis were assessed for their effects on the central nervous system (CNS) using a series of established pharmacological tests including pentobarbitone-induced sleeping time, open field, hole cross, hole-board and evasions tests in mice model. These extracts produced a dose-dependent reduction of the onset and duration of pentobarbitone-induced hypnosis, reduction of locomotor and exploratory activities in the open field, hole cross, head-dip and evasion tests. These results suggest that both the bark and pneumatophore extracts possess CNS depressant activity, the pneumatophore extract being more potent than the bark extract.  相似文献
