Severe hypertension causes global and regional changes in myocardial perfusion and substrate utilization. Regional perfusion and fatty acid utilization were evaluated by dual-tracer autoradiography in normotensive and hypertensive rats of the Dahl strain. The regional distributions of perfusion and fatty acid utilization were homogeneous in normotensive rats. Severe hypertension was associated with a homogeneous pattern of regional perfusion, but fatty acid utilization was focally decreased in the free wall of the left ventricle. The decrease in fatty acid uptake was associated with a concomitant increase in glucose utilization. These findings suggest that severe hypertension is associated with uniform myocardial perfusion and focal alterations in the substrates used for the performance of myocardial work.  相似文献

A simple method for coagulating proteins in aqueous leaf extract, through microbial fermentation, has been reported. The Leaf Protein Concentrate (LPC) obtained through this fermentation has been compared with those obtained through conventional heat coagulation methods to show that the former improves the yield and nutritional quality of LPC.  相似文献

Seed protein concentrates (SPC) were extracted from 4 leguminous species and the extractabilities of total N (nitrogen), protein N and SPC determined. Summary The effect of green manuring and soil amendments in various combinations on common scab of potato have been investigated. Soybean green manuring in combination with partially decomposed wheat straw was most effective with a decrease of 56.9% and 54.8% respectively in scab index and scab incidence. There was also a 14.2% increase in potato yield. Soil microbial population was also studied and a considerable increase in bacterial population was observed with soybean green manuring. Maximum population was recorded at planting and at harvest, microbial population was drastically decreased.  相似文献

Present preliminary findings demonstrate in vitro stimulation of splenic lymphocytes of BALB/c mice after exposure to oligosaccharide fractions isolated from mare's milk during colostrum, transitional, and mature lactation periods, which shows immunostimulatory action of oligosaccharide content present in mares' milk. Oligosaccharide fractions caused more pronounced oxidative burst at a much lower concentration (0.1 μg/mL) compared with that shown by levamisole (standard immunostimulant) at a much higher concentration of 10 μg/mL. In this study, it was observed that oligosaccharides fraction of colostrum phase attaining high potency of immunostimulatory property.  相似文献

Cytoplasmic-nuclear male-sterility is an important biological tool, which has been used by plant breeders to increase yields in cross-pollinated cereals and vegetables by commercial exploitation of the phenomenon of hybrid vigor. In legumes, no such example exists due to the absence of an economic way of mass pollen transfer from male to female parent. Pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.], however, is a different legume where a moderate level of insect-aided natural out-crossing (25–70%) exists and it can be used to produce commercial hybrid cultivars, if an efficient and stable cytoplasmic-nuclear male-sterility (CMS) system is available. This paper reports the development of a stable CMS system (ICP 2039A), derived from an inter-specific hybrid of Cajanus cajanifolius, a wild relative of pigeonpea, with a cultivar ICP 11501. Using this genetic material, designated as the A4 cytoplasm, a number of fertility restorers and maintainers have been developed. The best short-duration experimental pigeonpea hybrid ICPH 2470 produced 3205 kg ha−1 grain yield in 125 days, exhibiting 77.5% advantage over the control cultivar UPAS 120. At present, all the important biological systems necessary for a successful commercial hybrid breeding program are available in pigeonpea and the package of this technology has been adopted by private seed sector in India for the production and marketing of hybrid varieties.  相似文献

Correlations among 11 morpho-economic characters and their path analysis were studied using 16 genotype of jasmine. The weight of 100 flowers was significantly associated with the Dower diameter, petal width, petal length, anther length, floral bud length and width, and 100 bud weight in positive direction. Path coefficient analysis revealed 100 flower bud weight and flower diameter to have high direct effect in positive direction. All the other characters affected the yield indirectly through these two characters, indicating that 100 floral bud weight and flower diameter could be taken as selection index.  相似文献
