Efficacy of two antibiotic treatments in curing clinical and subclinical mastitis in lactating dairy cows

AIM: To compare the bacteriological and clinical cure rates for clinical and subclinical mastitis in New Zealand dairy cows following treatment with either an intramammary penicillin-dihydrosptreptomycin preparation or a subcutaneous injection of penethamate hydriodide. METHODS: Milk samples were collected from clinical and subclinical cases of mastitis before and 14 and 21 days after initiation of treatment for bacteriological culture, somatic cell count determination and conductivity testing. RESULTS: No significant differences in the bacteriological cure rate of major Gram-positive pathogens, clinical cure rate, somatic cell count or conductivity were found between treatments. However, the bacteriological cure rate of coagulase-negative staphylococcus infections and the overall bacteriological cure rate was lower for quarters treated with penethamate than with penicillin-dihydrosptreptomycin. CONCLUSIONS: The bacteriological cure rate of mastitis caused by major Gram-positive pathogens, the clinical cure rate, somatic cell count and conductivity did not differ between the two antibiotic treatments. .  相似文献   

Alveolar osteitis (dry socket) in a dog: a case report

Following extraction of a maxillary left first molar tooth in an eight year-old retriever, the dog re-presented five days later because of oral pain, which did not respond to analgesic therapy. The extraction site contained a foul-smelling fluid, but did not contain a clot or granulation tissue. Alveolar osteitis (dry socket) was diagnosed. The alveolus was curetted and flushed, and the dog was given cefalexine and prednisolone. The alveolus was filling with healthy granulation tissue one week later and the dog was no longer in pain.  相似文献

研究人员对来自西班牙(n=3)和丹麦(n=10)13家感染断奶后多系统衰竭综合征(PostweaningMuhisystemic Wasting Syndrome,PMWS)的猪场进行了2项前瞻性纵向研究.猪的血液样本从第1周开始纵向采集直到爆发PMWS为止.相同日龄的健康或衰竭性猪都进行安乐死、尸体解剖和组织病理学描述.通过淋巴病变、原位杂交或免疫组织化学方法检测这些组织中的PCV2,从而确诊PMWS.血清分析在纵向采集的血清样本中进行,以检测针对PCV2、猪繁殖与呼吸综合征病毒(Porcine Reproductive And Respiratory Syndrome Virus,PRRSV)、猪细小病毒(Porcine ParvoVirus,PPV)、猪流感病毒(Swine Influenza Virus,SIV)、细胞内罗森氏菌(Lawsonia intracellularis,law)、猪肺炎支原体(Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae)、猪伪狂犬病病毒(Aujeszky's Disease Virus,ADV)和沙门菌(Salmonella spp.)的抗体.Cox比例风险模型(Cox proportional hazards model)被用来研究血清转换和抗所研究病原体母体免疫的同步效应.  相似文献
