Sprout damage which results in poor breadmaking quality due to enzymatic activity of α‐amylase is one of the important grading factors of wheat in Canada. Potential of near‐infrared (NIR) hyperspectral imaging was investigated to detect sprouting of wheat kernels. Artificially sprouted, midge‐damaged, and healthy wheat kernels were scanned using NIR hyperspectral imaging system in the range of 1000–1600 nm at 60 evenly distributed wavelengths. Multivariate image analysis (MVI) technique based on principal components analysis (PCA) was applied to reduce the dimensionality of the hyperspectral data. Three wavelengths 1101.7, 1132.2, and 1305.1 nm were identified as significant and used in analysis. Statistical discriminant classifiers (linear, quadratic, and Mahalanobis) were used to classify sprouted, midge‐damaged, and healthy wheat kernels. The discriminant classifiers gave maximum accuracy of 98.3 and 100% for classifying healthy and damaged kernels, respectively. 相似文献

Two fast-growing Indian species, Melia composita Benth. and Eucalyptus tereticornis Sm., which have different sets of physical properties, were dried together in a vacuum press dryer(VPD) under two drying conditions,i.e., above boiling point(ABP) and below boiling point(BBP). The ABP and BBP conditions were maintained by keeping the temperature constant at 75 ℃ and maintaining two pressure levels: 300 mm of Hg(ABP) and 450 mm of Hg(BBP). In order to understand pressure conditions at the core during vacuum drying, a cylindrical brass pipe was inserted in both wood cores and attached with pressure gauges placed outside of the VPD. The results indicate that the Melia wood core attained equilibrium pressure immediately with the pressure of VPD, while Eucalyptus attained it very slowly, reaching equilibrium at later stages of drying when cracks and checks advanced to the core.The drying rate was higher for Melia than Eucalyptus under both drying conditions. The drying rate of Melia(ABP) was higher than Melia(BBP), however, the drying rate for Eucalyptus(ABP) was not significantly different from the BBP drying rate. 相似文献

The present study was conducted to study the genetic architecture of grain micronutrients (Zn, Fe and β-carotene contents), grain protein content and four yield traits in a spring wheat reference set comprising 246 genotypes. Phenotypic data on these traits recorded at two locations and the genotyping data for 17,937 SNP markers (obtained through outsourcing) were used for genome wide association study, which gave following results after Bonferroni correction using four methods: (1) single locus single trait analysis gave 136 marker-trait associations; (2) multi-locus mixed model gave 587 MTAs; (3) multi-trait mixed model gave 28 MTAs and (4) matrix-variate linear mixed model gave 33 MTAs. As many as 73 epistatic interactions were also detected. Keeping all the results in mind, nine most important MTAs were selected for biofortification. These markers were associated with three traits (GPC, GFeC and GYPP). These MTAs can be used in wheat improvement programs either using marker-assisted recurrent selection or pseudo-backcrossing method. 相似文献

Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi associated with Prosopis cineraria (Khejri) were assessed for their qualitative and quantitative distribution from eight districts of Rajasthan. A total of three species of Acaulospora, one species of Entrophospora, two species of Gigaspora, twenty-one species of Glomus, seven species of Sclerocystis and three species of Scutellospora were recorded. A high diversity of AM fungi was observed and it varied at different study sites. Among these six genera, Glomus occurred most frequently. Glomus fasciculatum, Glomus aggregatum, and Glomus mosseae were found to be the most predominant AM fungi in infecting Prosopis cineraria. Acaulospora, G. fasciculatum, Sclerocystis was found in all the fields studied, while Scutellospora species were found only in few sites. A maximum of thirty-six AM fungal species were isolated and identified from Jodhpur, whereas only thirteen species were found from Jaisalmer. Spores of Glomusfasciculatum were found to be most abundant under Prosopis cineraria. 相似文献

Comparison of a Neural Network and a Non-parametric Classifier for Grain Kernel Identification 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The performances of a four-layer backpropagation neural network and a non-parametric statistical classifier were compared for classification of barley, Canada Western Amber Durum wheat, Canada Western Red Spring wheat, oats, and rye. A total of 230 features (51 morphological, 123 colour, and 56 textural) from the high-resolution images of kernels of the five grain types were extracted and used as input features for classification. Different feature models, viz. morphological, colour, texture, and a combination of the three, were tested for their ability to classify these cereal grains. To make the classification process fast, the number of input features were reduced to 60 and 30. A set of features consisting of an equal number of morphological, colour, and textural features gave the best classification accuracies. The neural network classifier outperformed the non-parametric classifier in almost all the instances of classification. 相似文献

This study assesses the dry matter production, chlorophyll, soluble protein and macronutrients inPeltophorum ferrugineum andAlbizia lebbeck. The parameters were measured at 30-day intervals for 180 days in fertile soil without moisture stress and in the natural nursery condition.Albizia lebbeck exhibited more dry matter production, chlorophyll, soluble protein and macronutrients thanP. ferrugineum. A significant positive correlation was observed between dry matter production, leaf area, leaf dry weight and soluble protein for both the tested seedlings. The possible reasons for the observed differences in the biomass production, biochemical contents and nutrient concentration between the two seedlings are discussed. 相似文献

Ten‐day‐old seedlings of four cowpea (Vigna unguiculata Walp) genotypes were subjected to six levels of aluminum (Al) (0, 74, 148, 222, 296, and 370 μM/L) to test their tolerance to Al toxicity in a nutrient solution at pH 4.0±0.1. Seedlings were grown in the presence of Al under controlled environmental conditions in a growth chamber. The nutrient solutions were replenished once a week. After 20 days, treatments were terminated and the differences in their growth patterns were compared. Standard growth parameters, such as plant growth, dry matter production, relative growth reduction in roots (RGRS) and shoots (RGRS), and root and shoot tolerance indices (RTI and STI) have been used as markers of Al toxicity. The cowpea genotypes studied exhibited a wide range of responses in their tolerance to Al. Though the genotypes were subjected to six levels of Al, a good degree of separation in their responses was observed only at the 222 μM Al/L treatment level. Therefore, this concentration was chosen to treat and compare the performances of the genotypes. The genotype Co 3 showed an increase in growth, while Paiyur 1 and other genotypes showed severe inhibitions in the presence of Al. Furthermore, for RTI and STI, Co 3 also registered its tolerance to Al by showing increased ratios in the presence of Al. Whereas, Paiyur 1 recorded severe reductions. The RGRR and RGRS data also substantiates this finding. Based on the growth parameters, the four cowpea genotypes were ranked based on their tolerance to Al: Co 3 > Co 4 > KM > Paiyur 1. Co 3 was the most Al‐tolerant genotype which performed extremely well in the presence of Al, while Paiyur 1was the most Al‐susceptible genotype. Therefore, the Al‐tolerant genotype can be used for future breeding programmes to produce Al‐tolerant genotypes, subsequently, can be recommended for acidic infertile soils in the tropics. 相似文献
