Although recombinant vaccines have several advantages over conventional vaccines, protection induced by single antigen vaccines is often inadequate for a multicellular helminth parasite. Therefore, immunoprophylactic efficacy of cocktail antigen vaccines comprised of several combinations of three Brugia malayi recombinant proteins BmAF-Myo, Bm-iPGM and Bm-TPP were evaluated. Myosin + TPP and iPGM + TPP provided the best protection upon B. malayi infective larval challenge with ∼70% reduction in adult worm establishment over non-vaccinated animals that was significantly higher than the protection achieved by any single antigen vaccine. Myosin + iPGM, in contrast did not provide any enhance protection over the single recombinant protein vaccines. Specific IgG, IgM level, IgG antibody subclasses levels (IgG1, IgG2a, IgG2b, IgG3), lymphocyte proliferation, reactive oxygen species level and cytokines level were also determined to elucidate the characteristics of the protective immune responses. Thus the study undertaken provided more insight into the cocktail vaccination approach to combat LF.  相似文献

Rethinking organic aerosols: semivolatile emissions and photochemical aging   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
Most primary organic-particulate emissions are semivolatile; thus, they partially evaporate with atmospheric dilution, creating substantial amounts of low-volatility gas-phase material. Laboratory experiments show that photo-oxidation of diesel emissions rapidly generates organic aerosol, greatly exceeding the contribution from known secondary organic-aerosol precursors. We attribute this unexplained secondary organic-aerosol production to the oxidation of low-volatility gas-phase species. Accounting for partitioning and photochemical processing of primary emissions creates a more regionally distributed aerosol and brings model predictions into better agreement with observations. Controlling organic particulate-matter concentrations will require substantial changes in the approaches that are currently used to measure and regulate emissions.  相似文献

The present study investigates the effect of in vivo administration of alcoholic extract of Tinospora cordifolia whole plant (ALTC) on the proliferation and myeloid differentiation of bone marrow hematopoietic precursor cells in mice bearing a transplantable T cell lymphoma of spontaneous origin designated as Dalton's lymphoma (DL). BMC obtained from ALTC administered DL-bearing mice showed an enhanced BMC proliferation and colony forming ability in vitro in response to L929 conditioned medium as a source of colony stimulating factor (CSF). The number of granulocyte-macrophages colony (CFU-GM) was predominantly higher in the cultures of BMC obtained from ALTC administered mice as compared to mice injected with PBS alone. An increase in the count of bone marrow derived macrophages (BMDM) from ALTC administered mice was also observed along with an increase in the count of tumor associated macrophages. The BMDM obtained from ALTC administered mice showed an enhanced response to signal of LPS for activation to produce IL-1 and TNF. This study indicates that the T. cordifolia can influence the myeloid differentiation of bone marrow progenitor cells and the recruitment of macrophages in response to tumor growth in situ.  相似文献

This study is aimed at ascertaining the chemical partitioning ofCu, Zn, Pb, Ni, Cr and Cd in sewage sludge and agricultural soils repeatedly amended with sludge. The operationally determined speciation was investigated by using selective five steps sequential extraction method for partitioning these metals into different chemicalforms, likely to be released in solution under various environmental conditions. It provides qualitative evidence regarding the form of the association of metals and indirectly of their bioavailability. It can help to explain the process by which metals are eliminated from sewagesludge and also indicate the impact of the use of sludge on agriculturalsoils, as amendments. Data obtained by extraction procedure showed different metal distribution trend among the fractions in sewage sludgeand sludge-amended soils. Comparison of distribution pattern of metals in sludge and sludge-applied soils shows that there is possible redistribution of metals among the different phases. The sum of the metal content in the fractions compared well with the total metal content in sewage sludge, the ratios averaging 1.02, 1.04, 1.07, 0.94, 1.06, and 1.12 for Cu, Zn, Pb, Ni, Cr, and Cd, respectively. The metal recovery efficiency in sludge-amended soils was found to be: 108±6%, 102±5%, 115±8%, 111±4%, 104±7%and 124±28% for Cu, Zn, Pb, Ni, Cr and Cd, respectively.  相似文献

虽然在甘蔗同节上出现多芽现象已被报道,但是却未曾发现同节多芽能独立生长成蔗茎的现象。文章阐述了2008~2009年度在甘蔗品种CoS 96268宿根蔗大田观察到的一株甘蔗植株上发生的独特的形态分离现象。在该株甘蔗地上部的第7、8节上均有2个芽,但第8节出现溢痕,将该节间分成不等的两部分;该分离部分在第9节间更为明显,并独立生长成两条蔗茎(分枝),每条蔗茎均具有正常的节间形态。  相似文献

Laboratory and greenhouse investigations were carried out with 65Zn-labeled sources to study the kinetics of desorption, transformation, and availability of Zn applied to soil as zinc-enriched biosludge from distillery molasses (ZEMB) or as zinc sulfate heptahydrate (ZSH). Desorption (0.5 to 72 h) of added Zn by the column method followed a biphasic kinetics with an initial (up to 12 h) faster phase followed by a slower desorption phase. The desorption rate coefficient (K) of the latter phase and the amount of Zn desorbed during 12 to 72 h were significantly higher with ZEMB than with ZSH. Sequential extraction of Zn added as ZEMB and ZSH showed that Zn added as ZEMB was present in higher proportion as water soluble + exchangeable, carbonate bound, organically bound, and reducible fractions than Zn applied as ZSH, which showed a higher proportion of residual fraction. Under greenhouse conditions, dry matter yield (35 days) and total Zn uptake by rice fertilized with ZSH applied at 5 kg Zn ha−1 were statistically similar to those of rice treated with 2.5 kg Zn ha−1 supplied as ZEMB. The highest Zn uptake (167.08 μg pot−1) by rice was recorded in the treatment with 5 kg Zn ha−1 as ZEMB. For wheat plants grown after the harvest of rice, significantly higher dry matter yield over control was recorded in the treatment with ZEMB applied at 5 kg Zn ha−1 to rice. Total Zn uptake by wheat was statistically similar for both ZEMB and ZSH treatments at 5 kg Zn ha−1 dose. Both zinc derived from fertilizer and the percent utilization of fertilizer Zn by rice and by the subsequent wheat crop were significantly higher with ZEMB than with ZSH. Bluetongue is an economically important viral disease of small ruminants. The present/current diagnostic kits and methods to diagnose BTV are laborious, time consuming and expensive. In the present study, we have attempted to develop a novel approach to detect BTV antibodies in sera that in future can be harnessed for developing a pen side diagnostic test. Briefly, we identified the immunodominant regions of the VP7 protein of BTV and synthesized them in the multiple antigenic peptide (MAP) format with cysteine at C-terminal of the lysine mosaic, which elicited highly ordered conformation as well as ELISA reactivity. Finally, we coated the MAP peptides on the gold nanoparticles that can be used to detect BTV specific antibodies in the sera using a spot test.  相似文献
