A 25-year-old gelding sport horse was referred for the treatment of recurring bilateral anal amelanotic melanoma. On physical examination, the horse presented bilateral poorly delimited perianal masses that recurred 2 months after surgical excision. The owner elected the lesions to be treated with surgery combined with electrochemotherapy using the drug cisplatin. The two masses were removed, and the surgical bed was treated with electrochemotherapy. A second session was performed 3 weeks later. The horse remained disease-free for 5 months and then experienced a marginal recurrence in one side. The nodule was re-treated, and the horse remained disease-free for 2 additional months, when it died of abdominal metastases. Electrochemotherapy can be added to the current strategies to palliate recurrent melanomas in horses.  相似文献

Chemical analysis of the Indonesian sponge Plakortis cfr. lita afforded two new analogues of the potent trypanocidal agent manadoperoxide B (1), namely 12-isomanadoperoxide B (2) and manadoperoxidic acid B (3). These compounds were isolated along with a new short chain dicarboxylate monoester (4), bearing some interesting relationships with the polyketide endoperoxides found in this sponge. Some semi-synthetic analogues of manadoperoxide B (6–8) were prepared and evaluated for antitrypanosomal activity and cytotoxicity. These studies revealed crucial structure–activity relationships that should be taken into account in the design of optimized and simplified endoperoxyketal trypanocidal agents.  相似文献

A 9-month-old neutered male cat was referred because of left forelimb lameness. Physical examination, laboratory analysis, and radiographic examination of the entire skeleton were performed. The radiographic diagnosis was bilateral radio-ulnar synostosis with secondary elbow malformation. A comparison between clinical and radiographic findings of the cat and those described in children affected by radio-ulnar synostosis is reported. Internal thoracic artery-caudal epigastric artery as a collateral pathway in a dog with aortic occlusion: a case report

Aortic occlusion is a rare vascular disorder in the dog. This report describes the clinical feature of an aged Boxer with complete occlusion of the abdominal aorta caused by an intraluminal thrombus. Angiography evidenced a collateral circulation, represented by the internal thoracic artery, the cranial epigastric artery and the caudal epigastric artery, providing adequate blood flow to the pelvis and pelvic limbs. This vascular network has only recently been recognised as one of the major collateral pathways for arterial blood supply to the pelvis and lower extremities in humans with chronic aorto-iliac occlusive disease (CAOD). Furthermore, a femoral artery Doppler waveform, characterised by low amplitude, a monophasic systolic wave with blunted parabolic flow profile and a small spectral window, peculiar to humans with CAOD, is documented for the first time in a dog with aortic occlusion.  相似文献

Nitrogen and phosphorous in a loam soil of central Italy as affected by 6 years of different tillage systems

Tillage practices can influence content and dynamics of soil N and P. A field study was conducted on a loam soil (Typic Udifluvent) in Italy, to determine mineral and organic N and P concentrations at the end of 6 years of different tillage systems. Maize (Zea mays L.) was cropped since 1970, and managed since 1994 with deep ploughing (DP) to 40 cm, ripper subsoiling (RS) to 40 cm, shallow ploughing (SP) to 20 cm and minimum tillage with harrow disk (MT) to 10 cm. At the end of the sixth year, soil was collected in 10 cm increments to a total depth of 40 cm. Surface concentration of total N was higher with MT than with RS, SP and DP, but differences disappeared at lower depths. Soil water content was lower under DP and SP treatments than under MT and RS. Residual NO₃-N in the soil profile was not different among tillage treatments. During 6 years, MT increased soil quality, by enrichment of organic N and improvement of soil water content at the surface. Moldboard ploughing was a less sustainable tillage system in this environment.  相似文献
