The methanol extract of Annona squamosa seeds was highly active against two phytoparasitic nematodes, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus and Meloidogyne incognita. It efficiently suppressed plant diseases, caused by Phytophthora infestans and Puccinia recondita. Ten annonaceous acetogenins (AAs) were isolated, and their chemical structures were identified by mass and nuclear magnetic resonance spectral data. Out of 10 substances, eight displayed strong in vitro nematicidal activity against B. xylophilus with LD(50) values ranging 0.006 to 0.048 μg/mL. Squamocin-G showed potent nematicidal activity against M. incognita. Squamocin, squamocin-G, and squamostatin-A also displayed potent in vitro and in vivo antifungal activities against P. infestans causing tomato late blight. In addition, squamostatin-A effectively controlled the development of wheat leaf rust caused by P. recondita. Our findings suggested that A. squamosa seeds and its bioactive AAs can be an alternative resource of a promising botanical nematicide and fungicide to control various plant diseases.  相似文献

The demand for Japanese larch (Larix leptolepis) seeds has increased in Korea but their supply has been limited due to sporadic natural seed production. Among the various flower induction techniques, girdling woody stems has been recognized as a simple and efficient method to enhance seed production in a number of conifers. In this study, stem girdling was applied to 42-year-old Japanese larches, resulting in remarkable enhancement of seed cone production with no morphological changes in the seed characteristics. Metabolic alterations in needles of the girdled and the control trees were interrogated by using 23 individual metabolites including soluble sugars, polyamines and amino acids. In the girdled trees, the contents of both soluble sugars and polyamines were higher from June to July and then became similar to those in the control. The levels of amino acids were significantly increased only in August by girdling compared to the non-girdled trees. In control larch trees, the dominant amino acids were changed from Glu and Ala until July to Asp and Tyr in August. Interestingly, the concentrations of Asp-derived amino acids such as Lys, Met and Thr, were increased by girdling and they also showed significant correlations with the number of seed cones per trees, suggesting that the enhanced levels of three amino acids might positively influence on the development of seed cones in girdled larch trees. Although the role of Asp-derived amino acids on enhanced seed cone production remains unclear, the approach presented in this study might provide useful information in elucidating metabolic network modulation induced by girdling and will be further applied for enhanced seed cone production in Japanese larch trees.  相似文献

Purpose

To identify the sources and levels of contamination with anthropogenically derived heavy metals (HMs) for appropriate pollution control. We quantified anthropogenic influences with respect to HM pollution in soil, based on multiple pollution indices and cluster analysis derived from the results of an annual nationwide survey conducted in Korea.

Methods

Contamination levels of HMs in soils were quantitatively evaluated using multiple pollution indices: contamination factor (CF), geo-accumulation index (Igeo), Nemerow’s integrated pollution index (NIPI), and pollution load index (PLI). Hierarchical cluster analysis was conducted to elucidate the correlations between HMs and contamination sources. A total of 2214 HM concentration data including six contamination sources were used to evaluate the pollution state of anthropogenic effects of HMs.

Results

The CFs for Zn and Cu revealed a broad enrichment of these HMs in all pollution sources. Scrap recycling sites (SRS) had the highest likelihood of pollutant distribution in soil surfaces. NIPI and PLI varied with the extent of anthropogenic activities or land use, especially in SRS, waste disposal sites (WDS), transport maintenance sites (TMS), and industrial sites (INS), and anthropogenic sources were divided into three discrete clusters: INS-TMS-LDS (land development sites), SRS-WDS, and vicinities of industrial sites (VIS).

Conclusion

Our results confirmed that soil pollution indices combined with cluster analysis were useful to identify sources of anthropogenic HMs in urban soil, as well as to assess the levels of HM contamination.

Acute toxicity and sublethal effects of nitrite in dark‐banded rockfish, Sebastes inermis (83.3 ± 7.2 g), were studied under static conditions for a period of 96 h. The acute toxicity of nitrite evaluated for the 96‐h lethal concentration (LC50) was 700 mg/L. The sublethal effects on selected hematological parameters of S. inermis, such as total erythrocyte count (TEC), hemoglobin, plasma glucose, and serum protein content, were measured after 0, 6, 12, 24, 48, 72, and 96 h of exposure to 0, 50, 100, 200, 400, and 700 mg/L of nitrite. Sublethal nitrite caused progressive reduction in the TEC, hemoglobin, and serum protein content in fish depending on the nitrite concentration and exposure period. The 96‐h exposure resulted in a 14–42% reduction in TEC and 25–33% reduction in hemoglobin content for 100–700 mg/L of nitrite compared to the control. A dose‐related reduction in plasma glucose (25.7–34.2%) was observed for concentrations of 200–700 mg/L of nitrite during 48 h of exposure, followed by an increase through 96 h. A significant reduction in serum protein (7.3–12.6%) was observed for 200–700 mg/L of nitrite after 96 h of exposure. Abnormal histological changes in skin, gill, liver, and kidney tissue were observed in fish exposed to 700 mg/L of nitrite after 96 h of exposure compared to the control. Although no mortality of S. inermis occurred at 500 mg/L of nitrite, all hematological parameters adversely responded to a nitrite dose of 200 mg/L for 96 h. These results showed that although acute toxicity concentration of nitrite in S. inermis is higher than 700 mg/L, sublethal concentrations of nitrite also negatively affect hematological parameters.  相似文献

Silk sericin (SS) was fabricated into beads using LiCl/DMSO solution as a solvent. Up to 30 % (w/v) of SS could be dissolved within 3 hours, and the shape of solidified SS depends on the concentration of SS. Ethanol was the best coagulant among alcohols, making beads with suitable mechanical strength for further application. SS beads swell more at a pH above the isoelectric point (pl) than below the pl. The pH and the presence of an enzyme greatly affect the dissolution rate of SS beads. Whereas only 10 % of SS beads were dissolved at pH 2.2 in the presence of pepsin, more than 45 % of SS beads were dissolved at pH 7.4 in the presence of trypsin. The release of drug was suppressed in a stomach-like environment while promoted in an intestine-like environment.  相似文献

Dyeing properties of a series of 4-amino-4′-fluorosulfonylazobenzene disperse dyes on poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) were investigated. Build-up properties and color properties on PET were examined. In particular, the 4-aminoazobenzene dyes containing a nitro group instead of a fluorosulfonyl group at 4′-position were also synthesized in order to compare their dyeing properties on PET with that of 4′-fluorosulfonyl analogues.  相似文献

In this study, we attempted to evaluate a novel use of sericin-fixed silk fiber (SFx) as an immobilization support of enzyme. Sericin was fixed on the silk fiber using glutaraldehyde as a fixation reagent. After 6 hours of fixation, the degree of fixation increases linearly with linear decrease of the amount of bound α-chymotrypsin (CT). This suggests that the increase of the degree of fixation is due to the further crosslinking of free aldehyde groups on the surface of sericin-fixed silk fiber (SFx). Even though perfect fixation was not achieved, sericin did not dissolve seriously and could be removed by further washing. The specific activity did not differ significantly after 6 hours of fixation. The activity of immobilized CT on SFx decreased to its half after 6 hours of incubation at 50°C. However, it retained 78% of initial activity even after 1 hour of treatment with 100% ethanol. As a result, the SFx could be used as an immobilization support of enzyme in non-aqueous media at ambient temperature.  相似文献

Regenerated silk fibroin(SF)/Poly(vinyl alcohol)[PVA] blend films were prepared using different casting solvents, water and formic acid, to elucidate the effect of casting solvent on the structure and miscibility of SF/PVA blends. FTIR and XRD measurement suggested thatβ-sheet conformation of SF was not changed by addition of PVA in case of formic acid casting and the casting solvent determined the crystallized component of SF/PVA, leading to a different trend in the overall crystallinity between the two blends. The casting solvent had a dominant role in deciding phase behavior and molecular miscibility of blend films. SEM observation and DMTA measurement elucidated that water solvent produced phase-separated blend films while formic acid yielded one phase blend films with partial miscibility in molecular level indicating that the miscibility of SF blend can be improved by choosing a proper co-solvent.  相似文献

TiO2 contents in yarns can influence color yield so that dyeing quality of industrial poly ethylene terephthalate (PET) yarns can be improved through the adjustment of TiO2 contents. To evaluate the dyeing performance of color yield, the chips which included the different TiO2 contents of 330, 550, and 1,100 ppm respectively were used to produce the yarns of different TiO2 content by a spin-draft machine. The physical and structural properties of the yarns were measured to investigate effect of the TiO2 contents on them. Dye uptake and dyeing rate were also evaluated using a colorimeter to compare the yarns having different TiO2 contents. The experimental results showed that there were no appreciable variation in physical and structural properties among the yarn samples and no difference were observed among the dyed fabric samples with regard to dyeing uptake and dyeing rate. However, the color yield of dyed fabrics increased as TiO2 contents decreased in the yarns especially when the fabric samples were dyed to pale shade. The physical reasoning could be proposed on why the yarns having low TiO2 contents appeared to have higher color yield after dyeing.  相似文献
