This study evaluated the addition (0.35 and 0.70 g/kg feed) of clove (EOcl) or cinnamon (EOci) essential oils to Nile tilapia feed for 45 days to assess animal performance, antioxidant capacity and lipid oxidation in fillets. The design was completely randomised with five treatments and three replicates. Antioxidant capacity was determined by the oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORACFL), 2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazylhydrate (DPPH), ferric reducing ability power (FRAP) and 2,2’‐azino‐bis (3‐ethylbenzothiazoline‐6‐sulphonic acid) (ABTS) assays, and lipid oxidation was determined by the thiobarbituric acid‐reactive substances (TBARs) assay. Animal performance was not altered by adding the essential oils. The fillets treated with 0.35 g/kg of EOcl presented higher antioxidant capacity in the L‐ORACFL assay and a 40.3% reduction in lipid oxidation, whereas the EOci provided a pro‐oxidant effect relative to the control treatment. Based on these results, adding 0.35 g/kg of EOcl to the diet for 45 days before slaughter increased the antioxidant capacity and reduced the lipid oxidation of the fillets, contributing to product quality without altering animal performance.  相似文献

The bacteria Microbacterium sp. 8L and Exiguobacterium mexicanum 8N are known to improve the culture of Artemia franciscana using baker's yeast as food. Using spectrophotometry, sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS‐PAGE), substrate‐SDS‐PAGE and pH‐stat in vitro‐digestibility assays, the activity, molecular mass and hydrolysis on baker's yeast protein of proteases from extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) of the strains 8L and 8N along with the pathogenic strains Microbacterium sp. 8R and Vibrio parahaemolyticus 588 CECT (Vp) were studied. The EPSs of 8L and 8R showed one activity band, on which the serine inhibitor phenylmethylsulphonyl fluoride (PMSF) had no effect. The EPSs of 8N showed four bands; two were unaffected by PMSF, whereas one was affected, and the other was partially affected. The EPSs of Vp showed two bands, one partially inhibited by PMSF. No inhibitory effects from 1‐chloro‐3‐tosylamido‐7‐amino‐2‐heptanone (trypsin inhibitor) were observed in the protease bands of the studied bacteria. The EPSs of 8L and 8N showed a similar degree of hydrolysis (pH‐stat). The EPSs of 8L had the lowest Dice index of similarity of yeast protein profiles at 1 h of reaction. We conclude that the strain 8L could benefit A. franciscana by providing bacterial proteases for digestion of baker's yeast.  相似文献

A 7-week experimental study was performed to evaluate the effect of five concentrations of adult live Artemia (0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 L−1) as exogenous natural feed on the water quality and production parameters of juvenile (0.2 ± 0.01 g) shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) pre-grown intensively (125 organism m−2) under laboratory conditions (80 L plastic tanks). No significant differences were observed in the environmental variables among treatments. Total ammonium nitrogen, nitrates and phosphates recorded higher concentrations in all the treatments using artemia, as compared with the treatment without Artemia. In all the cases, the levels remained within or close to the ranges considered necessary for the farming of the species. The highest weight gain and biomass were obtained in the treatments with 3 and 4 Artemia L−1. The best feed conversion ratio were recorded using 2 Artemia L−1 and the highest with 0 Artemia L−1. No differences in survival were detected among treatments. The greatest concentrations of nitrogenous metabolites achieved at the highest densities of Artemia were lower than the LC50 for penaied shrimp and no negative effect was observed on the survival of the shrimp. These results clearly indicate that the use of adult live Artemia as exogenous natural feed significantly increased the production parameters of the Pacific white shrimp.  相似文献

The impact of the use of natural resources associated with anthropogenic activities has increased evidently, mainly through land use changes which have altered hydrophysical properties of soils. We hypothesized that, in the same soil type (Vertisol), four types of land use system (grassland, agricultural, Eucalyptus plantation and thornscrub) and seasonal variation can modify the soil hydrophysical properties. Results showed significant differences between land use systems and seasons for hydraulic conductivity (K), infiltration capacity (fp) and cumulative infiltration (fc). There were no seasonal differences in soil penetration resistance (SPR), bulk density (ρd) and total porosity (φP). Grassland presented higher values for ρd (1.2 g cm?3) and SPR (5.3 kg cm?2) and lower for K (0.8 × 10?5 cm s?1) and φP (53%), unlike thornscrub. Agriculture presented lower SPR (0.4 kg cm?2), while plantation showed similar values when compared to the thornscrub. Kostiakov infiltration model was fitted to land use infiltration curves, showing differences between land use and season. The values for fp oscillated between 53.6 and 548.8 mm hr?1 and fc ranged from 105.3 to 1,061 mm. The order of the infiltration values goes as follows: agriculture > plantation > thornscrub > grassland. Land use changes in Vertisols induced modification of soil physical properties affecting processes like permeability, soil compaction and water availability.  相似文献

The genetic variability of high molecular weight glutenin subunits (HMWGS) composition at the Glu-1 loci in bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) was studied electrophoretically using the SDS–PAGE in 3,470 individuals representing 159 populations originated from the Canary Islands (Spain), the Archipelago of Madeira (Portugal) and the continental Portugal. A total of 25 alleles were detected, resulting in 69 different allele combinations. The geographical distribution of the high molecular weight glutenin alleles confirms historical data regarding circulation of wheat germplasm between the Iberian Peninsula and Madeira and between Madeira and the Canary Islands and vice versa.  相似文献

Marine organisms are an increasingly important source of novel metabolites, some of which have already inspired or become new drugs. In addition, many of these molecules show a high degree of novelty from a structural and/or pharmacological point of view. Structure determination is generally achieved by the use of a variety of spectroscopic methods, among which NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) plays a major role and determination of the stereochemical relationships within every new molecule is generally the most challenging part in structural determination. In this communication, we have chosen okadaic acid as a model compound to perform a computational chemistry study to predict 1H and 13C NMR chemical shifts. The effect of two different solvents and conformation on the ability of DFT (density functional theory) calculations to predict the correct stereoisomer has been studied.  相似文献

This work was carried out to investigate the pulp composition of four mango cultivars (Haden, Tommy Atkins and Ubá) at the ripening stage in relation to three components with antioxidant potential (total phenolics, carotenoids and ascorbic acid). Total phenolic compound content was estimated by the Folin-Ciocalteu reagent and total carotenoid content by spectrophotometry at 450 nm. The contents of β-carotene and total vitamin C (ascorbic acid and dehydroascorbic acid) were quantified by high performance liquid chromatography. Differences were found among the four mango cultivars in all the components analyzed. The content of phenolic compounds ranged from 48.40 (Haden) to 208.70 mg/100 g (Ubá); total carotenoid from 1.91 (Haden) to 2.63 mg/100 g (Palmer); β-carotene from 661.27 (Palmer) to 2,220 μg/100 g (Ubá) and total ascorbic acid ranged from 9.79 (Tommy Atkins) to 77.71 mg/100 g (Ubá). These results corroborated previous information that mangoes are a good source of antioxidants in human diet.  相似文献

The feasibility of substituting soybean meal for fishmeal diets for juvenile white shrimp Litopenaeus schmitti (0.35±0.01 g) was evaluated, and an adequate substitution level was determined. Five diets were evaluated using 46%, 59%, 75%, 88% and 100% substitution levels. Pellet water stability was significantly affected by dietary soybean content (P<0.05). Increased soybean content produced lower pellet stability, ranging from a dry matter loss of 14–22% after a 2‐h immersion, and 20–33% after an 8‐h immersion. After 52 days, significant differences (P<0.05) were found in shrimp weight, feed conversion ratio and protein efficiency ratio. The values were 0.64–1.06 g, 2.8–7.9 and 0.45–1.21, respectively, for the three measurements. Overall, better results were obtained with diets where soybean meal was substituted for fishmeal up to 75%. The 100% soybean meal diet resulted in poor growth performance of shrimp. Survival rates were acceptable for all treatments (90% or higher) and no significant differences were found in survival between treatments. Regression analysis using the broken‐line methodology indicated that 76.5±2% is an optimum soybean substitution level in diets that contained fishmeal and soybean as the major protein sources for grow‐out of juvenile white shrimp.  相似文献

Fifty-four accessions of Phaseolus vulgaris cultivated in Spain and representing a broad variability for this country, were studied together with 30 samples of wild forms of American origin. Two reference cultivars (from the Andes and Mesoamerica) plus two outgroups (P. coccineus and Vigna unguiculata) were also included. RAPD analysis of DNA leaf extracts were carried out with four selected primers. We also studied morphological characters of the seeds and the phaseolin electrophoretic patterns. Multivariate analysis with the UPGMA method using RAPD data clustered the samples in four groups and, comparing with morphological data and phaseolin types, showed that the Spanish cultivars were mainly of Andean origin. Nevertheless, occurrence of introgression in Spain and the consideration of the country as a second center of variability for beans can also explain the obtained results.  相似文献
