This paper explores the potential uses of the aqueous extract of Vitis vinifera L. leaves in dyeing linen and silk fabrics without a metal mordant. The focus will be on investigating the tinctorial potential of Vitis vinifera L. leaves and its dyeing properties. The anthocyanins amounts of leaves from different Vitis vinifera L. varieties were determined by the spectrophotometry method. The effect of the main dyeing parameters (pH of the dye bath, temperature, and dyeing duration) on the dyeing quality results has been studied. Tannic acid and pomegranate peel extract have been used as a natural mordant. Experimental results have shown that fastness properties of dyed fabrics ranged from average to very good.  相似文献

The morphology of tongue in straw-coloured fruit bat from tropical forests was evaluated in relation to frugivorous diets and in comparison with other species that consumes other food types. Gross, stereomicroscopy, scanning electron microscope and histological methods were used. The tongue was relatively long with round tip, which closely fitted into oral cavity. Five types of mechanical papillae included crown-like and trifid filiform papillae. Also bulky, cone-shaped papillae and long conical papillae were identified. These mechanical types also showed variations in shape, size and number of processes of papillae. Transitional forms of these mechanical papillae were present. Fungiform papillae with taste pores were interposed amongst filiform types in apex and body; three ovoid-shaped vallate papillae were in triangular arrangement on root and displayed taste pores. Some bulky, cone-shaped papillae surrounded the vallate papillae. Histologically, mechanical filiform types showed highly keratinized stratified squamous epithelium and dense connective tissue core with secondary papillae. Taste buds appeared in fungiform and vallate papillae. Neutral and acidic secretions were identified in lingual glands of root. The presence of prominent filamentous processes of filiform papillae and conical papillae of the tongue in conjunction with gustatory papillae ensures adaptation to copious fruit diets. The gross morphometric and histometric parameters of the tongue did not differ remarkably from previous values obtained for some fruit bats with comparable weight. This investigation showed similarities with fruit bats such as large flying fox and Egyptian fruit bat and reflect common diet and feeding habits but varied from insectivorous and nectivorous bats.  相似文献

Abstract

Groundnut (Arachis hypogae L.) is the most important oilseed crop of India and it is abundantly grown under rainfed conditions in vertisols of Western India. The objective of this work was to study the effect of potassium (K) basal and foliar fertilization on yield, nutrient concentration in tissue and quality parameters of groundnut. Two varieties, GAUG‐1 (bunch type) and GAUG‐10 (spreading type) were grown during Kharif (rainfed) and Rabi (irrigated) seasons at Junagadh, Gujarat. The experiment compared two foliarapplied K fertilizers (KCl and K2SO4) at two different doses (0.5 and 1.0%) with basal KCl application (0 and 50 kg K2O ha?1). Field soil was highly calcareous (pH 8.2, NH4OAc extractable K 188 kg ha?1 with 40% lime reserve) Vertic ustochrept. The results showed a significant response in pod yield with foliar and soil‐applied potassium as compared to the control treatment. Pod yields were significantly higher when basal and foliar applications were combined. The best results were achieved with foliar application of 1% KCl together with a basal fertilization with 50 kg K2O ha?1. Response to foliar‐applied K was higher in rainfed kharif crop than in irrigated rabi crop. Groundnut variety GAUG‐10 out yielded GAUG‐1. Foliar K application increased plant tissue concentration of K. Foliar fertilization with KCl and K2SO4 did not cause leaf burn. Potassium application improved the crop harvest index and grain quality parameters of boldness, protein and oil contents. Response to K in quality parameters of protein and oil contents of seed was more consistent with foliar applied K2SO4 . The results confirmed that the practice of foliar K nutrition when used as a supplement and not a substitute for standard soil fertilization, is beneficial for groundnut crop in Western India.  相似文献

Uptake and transport of Mn applied to leaves was studied in maize (Zea mays cv. Regent) and horse bean (Vicia faba cv. Herzfreya), two important crops in Egypt. Under controlled conditions in a growth chamber, maize and horse bean plants were grown in solution culture without Mn. After 20 days, Mn was applied to one older leaf by submerging part of the leaf blade into 0.1 mM MnSO4 or MnEDTA solution for 48 h. At harvest (24 h later), plants were divided into fractions and Mn concentrations and contents determined. Plants without Mn application served as control. Only 1% of the Mn supply was taken up. Most of it remained at the application zone. However, part of the Mn moved out of the leaf of application and was preferentially transported to the shoot apex. This was indicated by a up to 2 times higher Mn concentration of the youngest leaf. When Mn was applied as MnEDTA, Mn uptake was lower but translocation enhanced compared to MnSO4. There were no consistent differences between the plant species although mobility of Mn seemed to be higher in maize. Although the amounts of Mn taken up and translocated were low, the results suggest that in these plant species, leaf-applied Mn may contribute to the Mn nutrition of new growth.  相似文献

The plasma fibrinogen concentration, the total plasma protein concentration and the plasma protein to fibrinogen ratio (PP:F) were determined in clinically healthy Nili Ravi buffaloes. The plasma fibrinogen concentrations in calves, lactating and non-lactating buffaloes were 513±62, 615±90 and 544±74 mg/dl, respectively, and were statistically different (p<0.05). Total plasma protein concentrations in these animals were 7.15±0.28, 9.32±0.53 and 8.79±0.58 g/dl. PP:F for all animals was between 11 and 19. The desire to offer clothes protective properties against the harmful UV rays continues to attract the interest of researchers. Several works have been elaborated in this topic and have proved that the clothes do not protect sufficiently against the solar ultraviolet radiation. Their protectiveness depends on the fiber type, the fabric composition, the fabric construction and the dyeing method. This research presents a novel approach which target the improvement of the textile protective properties against UV rays by their dyeing with grape pomace aqueous extract. These properties were tested in combination with several fabrics (natural and synthetic) and mordants (potassium alum and ferrous sulphate). Through this study, it has been shown that the UV-protective properties of the several dyed fibers were upgraded after dyeing with the grape pomace extract, and is intensely relying on the types of fibers and mordants.  相似文献

The chemical composition of date palm rachis wastes, which are widely available cellulosic biomass-based agricultural crops in Tunisia, were characterized to determine if they had the potential for use as a starting raw material to prepare cellulose derivatives. To accomplish this, several sodium cellulose carboxylmethylates (NaCMCs) were prepared and tested as sizing agents for coating yarn. The synthesis of NaCMC was conducted in n-butanol containing NaOH (40 %) as a solvent mixture and monochloroacetic acid (MAC) as the etherifying reagent. The NaCMC samples were characterized based on their degrees of substitution (DS) and polymerization (DP). The prepared NaCMC samples were then tested as sizing agents for cotton yarn in textile applications. Specifically, different NaCMC samples were used to prepare a coating bath, which was then applied to size a cotton yarn textile. The quality of the coated yarns was subsequently evaluated by determining three parameters, yarn hairiness, the load at break, and the elongation at break. The sizing performances of the NaCMCs prepared from date palm rachis wastes were then compared with those of commercial NaCMC. The values of hairiness, breaking load, and breaking elongation of some of the NaCMC-treated yarns were as high as those prepared using commercial additives as sizing agents. These findings indicate that the cellulose derivatives prepared in this study are good candidates for alternatives to currently available additives.  相似文献

The study investigated concomitant effect of gestation and high ambient temperature under a tropical environment on rectal temperature (RT), respiratory rate (RR) and heart rate (HR) responses in Yankasa ewes. Twenty Yankasa ewes, consisting of ten pregnant and ten non-pregnant ewes, were used for the study. Ewes were synchronised and bred, such that each gestation phase coincided with different periods of the dry-seasons, early-gestation (cold/harmattan), mid-gestation (peak hot-dry) and late-gestation (late hot-dry). The RT, RR and HR were recorded thrice, 2 days apart at middle of each gestation period at 06:00, 14:00 and 18:00 h, concurrently with dry- (DBT) and wet-bulb temperatures of the experimental pen. The DBT was positively correlated with RT, RR during the different gestation stages. The RT significantly (P < 0.001) increased with the hour of day, regardless of the physiological status of the ewes, with peak at 14:00 h. Values of RT and RR were higher (P < 0.05) in pregnant than non-pregnant ewes at mid- and late-gestation, respectively. Mean RT was lower (P < 0.001) at 06:00 h in pregnant than non-pregnant ewes at early-gestation (cold-dry). The HR was (P < 0.05) higher in pregnant than non-pregnant ewes during the different gestation phases. In conclusion, ambient temperature and gestation concomitantly modulate diurnal thermoregulatory responses of the ewes to hot-dry season. Adequate measures should be adopted to mitigate adverse impact of prolonged high RR on the dam and the foetus during the peak of ambient temperature prevailing in the tropical Savannah environment.  相似文献

This study attempted to clarify the carrying-over effect of different nitrogen treatments applied to the main crop on the crop population growth and yield formation of ratoon rice under mechanized cultivation in Southeast China.  Based on the constant total nitrogen application amounts (225.00 kg ha–1) in the main crop, an experiment with different ratios of basal and topdressing nitrogen fertilizer (the ratio of basal fertilizer:primary tillering fertilizer:secondary tillering fertilizer:booting fertilizer at 3:1:2:4 (N1), 3:2:1:4 (N2), 3:3:0:4 (N3), and 4:3:0:3 (N4), respectively, and a control without nitrogen treatment (N0)) was set up across two consecutive years in field using hybrid rice variety Yongyou 1540 as the test materials.  The results showed that the total tiller number and effective tillering percentage increased in the main crop under the N1 treatment, more nitrogen fertilizer applied in late growth stage of the main crop, and its effective tillering percentage of the main crop was the highest at up to 70.18%, which was 9.15% higher than that of conventional fertilization treatment (N4), more nitrogen fertilizer applied in early growth stage of the main crop.  The same tendency was observed in leaf area index (LAI) value of the main crop and its subsequent ratoon rice, which were 16.52 and 29.87% higher, respectively, in the N1 treatment than that in the N4 treatment at the full heading stage.  The same was true in the case of the transport rates of stem and sheath dry mater and the canopy light interception rates in both the main and its ratoon crops.  The transport rate of stem and sheath in main crop rice under N1 treatment increased by 50.57% compared with N4 treatment.  The canopy light interception rate of N1 treatment increased by 5.07% compared with N4 treatment at the full heading stage of the ratoon crop.  Therefore, the total actual yield was the highest in the main and its ratoon crops under N1 treatment, averaging 17 351.23 kg ha–1 in two-year trials, which was 23.00% higher than that in the conventional fertilization treatment (N4).  The results showed that appropriate nitrogen treatment was able to produce a good crop stand in the main crop, which was essential for producing a good ratoon crop population and high yield especially under mechanized cultivation with low stubble height of the main crop.  The study suggested that shifting the proper nitrogen application amounts to the late growth stage of the main crop, such as N1 treatment, not only had a higher productive effect on ensuring the yield of the main crop, but also had a positive effect on the axillary bud sprouts from the stubbles for ratoon rice, resulting in an increased percentage of productive panicles and achieving the goal of one planting with two good harvests under the conditions of our study.  相似文献
