Effects of light and tank colors on stress response of juvenile beluga sturgeon, Huso huso, was investigated by the measurement of some sero-haematological parameters and carcass chemical analysis. The analysis was based on the responses of 64 specimens (initial weight 98.83 ± 1.42 g) reared under white, red, green, or blue light, and 48 specimens reared in white, black, or blue tanks, all for 12 weeks. Incorporation of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) as biofunctional compounds with feed is an effective way for gonadal maturation without any hazardous effects on animal health, and thus it is possible to save the vulnerable species from the danger of extinction. In the present study sperm quality, level of Ca2+ concentration in serum, histological structure of the liver and developmental stages of ovary of an endangered fish species, Nandus nandus were investigated for the confirmation of the positive effects of PUFAs in reproduction and gonadal maturation. Fishes were collected from Brahmaputra River, Mymensingh, Bangladesh. Treated group was fed 1 % squid extracted phospholipid supplemented diet that was mixed with silver carp fish muscle where as controlled group was fed the same except phospholipid. For histology of liver and gonads, samples were dehydrated, cleaned and infiltrated, embedded in paraffin wax and sectioned. After that, the samples were stained with hematoxylin and eosin. The photomicrographs of the stained samples were taken by using light microscope. In comparison with the control group, treated group exhibited higher gonadal maturation which resulted in spontaneous spawning. Treated female demonstrated advanced gonadal developmental stages in comparison with the controlled female during different months. During spawning season, lipid granules and normal morphological alteration were observed in case of treated fish liver, whereas less lipid granules with more histological alteration of liver were observed in control group. Serum Ca2+ concentration in treated female was found significantly higher (P < 0.01) in contrast to the controlled female during the breeding season which was an indicator of the augment of estrogen secretion during ovarian maturation. Better sperm quality, early maturation of oocytes, less histological alteration of liver hepatocytes and spontaneous spawning performances of PUFA-treated fish were as a result of the efficiency of PUFAs in enhancing maturation. Potassium permanganate (PM) is a therapeutic agent in aquaculture with strong oxidant properties. In this study, the effects of potassium permanganate treatment (PMT) on stress response and blood biochemistry were investigated in goldfish Carassius auratus. Two triplicate groups of fish were exposed to either 10 mg L?1 PM or clean water, over 30 min. Blood samples were collected at 0 and 0.5 h after exposure as well as 3 and 24 h. PMT caused significant increase in serum cortisol and glucose levels, 0.5 h post exposure, which stayed elevated until 24 h. Sodium decreased after exposure and did not return to initial levels. Chloride decreased at 0.5 and 3 h, but returned to initial levels at 24 h. Calcium decreased at 0.5 h and returned to initial at 3 h, but significantly increased at 24 h. Total protein, albumin and globulin levels increased at 3 h and stayed elevated until 24 h. Albumin:globulin ratio (A:G) levels decreased at 24 h post exposure. Results indicated that short‐term PMT caused stress response, hydromineral imbalance and possibly change in blood protein profile in goldfish, which lasted until 24 h post treatment. 相似文献

Background
Heat shock proteins (HSP) are highly conserved molecules with many immunological functions. They are highly immunogenic with important role in cancer immunotherapy and in vaccine development against infectious diseases. As adjuvant, HSP can augment the immunogenicity of weak antigens and can stimulate antigen presenting cells. Although vaccines have been successful for many infectious diseases, progress in leishmaniasis has not been achieved. In this report, the protective effect of HSP-enriched soluble leishmania antigen (SLA) was determined.Methods
BALB/c mice were immunized 3× with HSP-enriched SLA and SLA alone and 10 days after final boost. They were infected with 106 stationary phase promastigote of Leishmania major and immunological responses were followed until nine weeks.Results
No significant differences were observed in lymphocyte proliferation, footpad swelling, parasite burden, nitric oxide or IL-12 cytokine between HSP-enriched or SLA groups. Although the levels of IFN-γ, IL-4, TGF-β, IgG1 and IgG2b were increased in both groups, IFN-γ was significantly higher in SLA group and IgG2a in HSP-enriched SLA.Conclusion

Synthesis and characterization of acrylic fibers-<Emphasis Type="Italic">g</Emphasis>-polyacrylamide
Graft copolymerization of acrylamide onto commercial acrylic fibers was carried out using benzoyl peroxide as a free-radical
initiator in aqueous medium within the 75–95 °C temperature range. In this study, the effects of initiator and monomer concentration,
the amount of fiber, polymerization time, and temperature on the graft yield were investigated. The optimum concentration
for initiator was found to be 2.0×10−3 mol/l and the optimum temperature of 85 °C. The activation energy of the reaction was calculated to as 35.81 kJ/mol at the
temperature interval of 75–95 °C. The structures and morphologies characterization of grafted fibers was investigated by Fourier
transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The thermogravimetric
analysis data showed that the thermal stability of the acrylic fibers increased with graft yield. The scanning electron photographs
showed that the homogeneous appearance of the fiber surface changed and a shell-like heterogeneous structure occurred at the
surface with an increasing degree of grafting. The moisture content, water absorption, dyeability, and antimicrobial activity
of grafted acrylic fibers were also reported. The results showed that grafting of polyAAm improved the moisture contain, water

Background: Initial studies have shown that low-energy ultrasound stimulates living tissue cells to reduce regeneration or speed up their recovery. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of various ultrasound parameters on the speed of recovery in injured sciatic nerves NMRI.Methods: NMRI mice (n = 200) with injured left paw, caused by crushing their sciatic nerves, were randomly selected. The animals were exposed to ultrasound radiation with various frequencies, intensities, and exposure time. They were allocated into 20 groups (19 treatment and 1 control groups). Sciatic functional index (SFI) test was used to evaluate the difference between the groups with respect to functional efficiency of the sciatic nerve and its recovery. SFI ، (P=0.000).Results: The results of SFI test obtained from the 14th day showed a significant difference among the groups (P<0.05). RSM and ANN approaches for modeling and optimizing of electrospun polyurethane nanofibers morphology

This paper focused on using response surface methodology (RSM) and artificial neural network (ANN) to analyze polyurethane (PU) nanofibers morphology synthesized by electrospinning. The process was characterized in detail by using experimental design to determine the parameters that may affect the nanofibers morphology such as polymer concentration, a tip to collector distance and applied voltage. It was concluded that solution concentration plays an important role (relative importance of 79.85 %) against nanofibers diameter and its standard deviation. Based on the results, applied voltage has a different effect on the nanofiber diameter at low and high solution concentrations. Moreover, the tip to collector distance parameter has no significant impact on the average nanofiber diameter. The finest PU nanofiber (201 nm) was obtained from experimental under conditions of: 9 w/v% polymer concentrations, 12 cm tip to collector distance and 16 kV applied voltage. The results show a very good agreement between the experimental and modeled data. It was demonstrated that both models (specially, in case of neural network) are excellent for predicting diameter of PU nanofibers. Narrow-barred Spanish mackerel, Scomberomorus commerson, is an epipelagic and migratory species of family Scombridae which have a significant role in terms of ecology and fishery. 100 samples were collected from the Persian Gulf, Oman Sea and Arabian Sea. Part of their dorsal fins was snipped and transferred to micro-tubes containing ethanol; then, DNAs were extracted and HRM-Real Time PCR was performed to designate representative specimens for sequencing. Phylogenetic relationships of S. commerson from Persian Gulf, Oman Sea and Arabian Sea were investigated using sequence data of mitochondrial DNA D-loop region. None clustered Neighbor Joining tree indicated the proximity amid S. commerson in four sites. As numbers demonstrated in sequence analyses of mitochondrial DNA D-Loop region a sublimely high degree of genetic similarity among S. commerson from the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea were perceived, thereafter, having one stock structure of S. commerson in four regions were proved, and this approximation can be merely justified by their migration process along the coasts of Oman Sea and Persian Gulf. Therefore, the assessment of distribution patterns of 20 haplotypes in the constructed phylogenetic tree using mtDNA D-Loop sequences ascertained that no significant clustering according to the sampling sites was concluded. 相似文献
