This study was exclusively conducted to evaluate healing of surgically created defects on the radius of adult Black Bengal goat after implantation of porous bioglass blocks and compare the process kinetics with normal healing. Twelve Black Bengal goats were divided randomly into two groups: control and experimental group implanted with bioglass blocks. Unicortical bone defects in radius were generated in all animals under aseptic condition. Local inflammatory reaction and healing of wound, radiological investigations, histological studies, oxytetracycline leveling and angiographic studies were performed up to 90th day post-operatively and compared with normal healing. It has been found that extensive new bone formation originating from host bone towards the implant whereas in control, the process was active from both the ends; the defect site appeared as homogenous nonfluorescent area. Thus, porous bioglass promoted bone formation over the entire extension of the defect independent of size of block in comparison to control group. 相似文献

Rooted cuttings of white flowered cv. `Purnima' and red flowered cv. `Colchi Bahar' of Chrysanthemum morifolium were treated with gamma rays. Sectorial somatic mutations in flower colour were detected in both the cvs. Mutated ray florets
(yellow colour for both the cvs) were cultured on agar-solidified Murashige & Skoog basal medium supplemented with sucrose
and different combinations of BAP/kinetin and NAA. Direct shoot organogenesis was noticed within 2 weeks of culture initiation.
SEM studies confirmed this direct shoot differentiation. The best regeneration was obtained on medium supplemented with 0.2
mg/l NAA and 0.5 mg/lBAP. Shoots regenerated from mutated ray florets were rooted in vitro and transferred to the field. These plants flowered true-to-explant floret colour and shape. These isolated yellow mutants
were maintained vegetatively have proved to be true-to-type in two successive generations.

The pollen grains of Corchorus olitorius and capsularis (jute) germinate within ten minutes in cross-pollinations as well as in self-pollinations. No perceptible difference is observed in the number of capsularis pollen grains germinating on olitorius stigmas and vice versa, though an olitorius stigma (being bigger) accommodates more pollen than capsularis.Several hundreds of flowers of different capsularis types were pollinated with those of olitorius and vice versa for three years. Very small quantities of seeds are produced in the cross-pollinations compared to self-pollinations. The percentages of empty, partially full and full seeds produced vary greatly in different crosses including their reciprocal ones. Most of the seeds obtained are shrivelled and empty. Few apparently normal looking full seeds, more or less of the same size in appearance as selfed ones that are produced in certain crosses, weigh less than the same number of selfed seeds of the respective female parents concerned; this suggests the under-development of the embryo or/and endosperm. The seeds do not germinate. Even in spite of including some types of capsularis closer to olitorius in certain characters and the wild types of both species in the crossing programme, still there was no success in getting hybrids between the two cultivated species of jute. Style reduction methods also fail. The possibilities of getting hybrids between them are indicated.

Samenvatting Getracht is de soortskruising van Corchorus olitorius x C. capsularis tot stand te brengen. Voor de veredeling van jute (o.a. op ziekteresistentie) zou dit belangrijke perspektieven kunnen bieden.Ofschoon wel enig zaad verkregen werd, gelukte het toch niet daaruit F1 planten op te kweken. Bij de voortzetting van het onderzoek zal gezocht worden naar methoden om de beide soorten toch te overbruggen.
