The differential response to field salinity of the parents of the ITMI wheat mapping population (cv. Opata 85 and the synthetic
hexaploid W7984) was exploited to perform a QTL analysis of the response to salinity stress of a set of agronomic traits over
two seasons. The material was irrigated either with potable water (EC of 1.0 dS m−1) or with diluted seawater (12.0 dS m−1). Grain yield was positively correlated with tiller number, plant height, percentage survival, ear weight, ear length, grain
number per ear, grain weight and thousand grain weight, and negatively with time to booting, anthesis and physiological maturity,
under both the control and salinity stress treatments. In all, 22 QTL were detected under control conditions, and 36 under
salinity stress. Of the latter, 13 were major loci (LOD > 3.0) and eight were reproducible across both seasons. Chromosome
2D harboured 15 salinity stress associated QTL and chromosome 4A six such QTL. The remaining loci were located on chromosomes

Soybean target spot, caused by the fungus Corynespora cassiicola, is an important disease in northwestern Argentina (NWA). A cultural, morphological, and virulence characterization of 24 C. cassiicola isolates from different geographic localities in NWA was performed. The isolates were classified into five different cultural phenotypes, one of which has not been previously described. The ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer region sequence from five representative isolates (587 bp) exhibited 100% identity with C. cassiicola. A high variability of conidial morphology was observed among isolates, but no correlation with cultural phenotype was observed. When the soybean cultivar A 8000 RG was challenged with the 24 isolates, different degrees of virulence were observed, ranging from highly virulent to nonvirulent. No association of virulence with cultural or morphological characters was observed, but a relationship with geographical origin was demonstrated. Histopathological studies were performed on a nonvirulent and a highly virulent isolate. Microscopic observations of infected tissues of the former showed low mycelium development restricted to the upper epidermis, a thickening of the cuticle and primary wall of subepidermal cells, and accumulation of callose in phloematic vessels. In tissue infected with the latter, there was abundant mycelium development accompanied by cellular disorganization in mesophyll cells. Pathological challenges of isolates on nine different cultivars indicated that the degree of virulence of isolates depends on the plant genotype, demonstrating that the C. cassiicola–soybean interaction is highly specific. Understanding the genetic basis of this interaction will provide new information for better disease management and breeding strategies. 相似文献

The possible interaction of herbicides Bromoxynil and Afalon S with Azospirillumspp. and growth of maize was investigated in a greenhouse experiment. Neither inoculation nor herbicide application with or without inoculation had significant effect on the major groups of soil microflora (bacteria, actinomycetes, and fungi). The highest values of nitrogenase as well as dehydrogenase activity were recorded in treatment received only Azospirillum. Incorporation in soil of either Bromoxynil or Afalon S at the recommended field dose seemed to have no significant effect on the enzymatic activities, while application of these herbicides with Azospirillum had stimulatory effects in some cases. The application of either Bromoxynil or Afalon S significantly increased the dry weight of roots and shoots at 45 days period. The effect of herbicide on plant growth was more pronounced when applied with Azospirillum and the highest stimulatory effect was observed when Afalon S was applied with the N2-fixing microorganism. 相似文献

In vitro studies show that some individual minor polar phenolic compounds (MPC) present in virgin olive oil prevent oxidation of human low-density lipoproteins (LDL), but few data are available on the antioxidant effect of whole oil extract. Thus, whole virgin olive extracts were studied to determine whether they maintain the antioxidant activity and whether this last is linked to MPC composition of a single virgin oil. Using HPLC-DAD the MPC content in Taggiasca and Seggianese virgin olive oils was measured. Taggiasca oil was less rich in total MPC (208.5 mg/L) than Seggianese oil (441.9 mg/L). In addition, the major compounds of Taggiasca oil were lignan derivatives, whereas the major compounds in Seggianese oils were secoiridoid derivatives. Moreover, Taggiasca oil was practically free of 5-hydroxytyrosol and 5-hydroxytyrosol derivatives, deacetoxy-oleuropein aglycone and oleuropein aglycone. The antioxidant activity of the oils on human LDL was evaluated by measuring malondialdehyde and conjugate diene generation induced by copper ions. In both tests, the oil extracts dose-dependently reduced malondialdehyde and conjugate diene generation. Moreover, antioxidant potency correlated with total MPC; thus, Seggianese extract was more active. The two oils differed quantitatively and qualitatively, and these differences influenced their biological activities; thus clinical trials focused on studying the effects of olive oils should specify the oils used. 相似文献

To improve the Boer goat semen quality during cryopreservation process, three experiments were carried out to investigate the effect of (i) different concentration of ascorbic acid supplementation (ii) rate of cooling with chilled semen characteristics and (iii) method of freezing on post‐thaw Boer goat sperm using Tris‐based extender. Ascorbic acid at 8.5 mg/ml improved the sperm parameters (motility, integrity of membrane and acrosome, morphology and viability), compared to control in cooled samples (p < 0.05). With regard to other concentrations and post‐thawed parameters, ascorbic acid at 2.5–8.5 mg/ml led to higher percentages of sperm motility and integrities of membrane and acrosome when compared to control (p < 0.05). Slow cooling rises to higher percentages of sperm motility, acrosome integrity and viability, in comparison with fast cooling, in terms of cooled and frozen samples (p < 0.05). Programmable freezing method produced the higher percentages of sperm motility, integrities of membrane and acrosome and viability when compared to the freezing method of polystyrene box during goat sperm freezing (p < 0.05). In conclusion, chilled and post‐thawed sperm quality of Boer goat was improved when a Tris‐based extender supplemented with ascorbic acid was used at stages of different cooling rates and freezing methods. 相似文献

A halotolerant, gram positive, motile and rod, was isolated from the E1 Gol6a lake of Ghardaia, Alegria and screened for its antimicrobial potential. The strain showed an inhibitory effect to gram positive and gram negative bacteria against Cladosporium spp. and a slight inhibitory effect against C. albicans using chloroform as the extraction solvent and the nutrient broth as production medium. 16S rRNA sequencing showed that the isolate named LMB3981 is a new taxon in the family of Bacillaceae (with 96% similarity). The strain is close to Filobacillus milosensis and Bacillus haloalkaliphilum with 95% similarity. The phenotypic study showed differences between LMB3981 and two strains that are near and have confirmed the results of 16S rRNA sequencing by specific metabolic properties of the strain. 相似文献

The aim of the present work was to develop a quali-quantitative investigation, using HPLC/DAD and HPLC/ESI/MS techniques, of the phenolic composition of berries collected from wild Tuscan plants of Juniperus communis L. and grown in three different geographical zones. The applied chromatographic elution method made it possible to well separate up to 16 different compounds belonging to flavonoids, such as isoscutellarein and 8-hydroxyluteolin or hypolaetin glycosides, and six biflavonoids, among them amentoflavone, hynokiflavone, cupressoflavone, and methyl-biflavones. To the best of the authors' knowledge this is the first report on the presence of these compounds in juniper berries. The flavonoidic content in the analyzed berries ranged between 1.46 and 3.79 mg/g of fresh pulp, whereas the amount of the biflavonoids was always lower, varying between 0.14 and 1.38 mg/g of fresh weight. 相似文献
